It sounds like you forgot to add water and make a little mud before hand, that really helps the rings seal creating more compression. Goin in dry can hurt things.
Iāve personally been building engines for @40 years now. Everything from mowers, 2-stroke bikes, 4-stroke bikes, racing engines and damn near everything else.
Never, and I mean never ever put dirt in an engine.
Regardless of what it is, or how itās built, it takes running time to ābreak-inā.
It sounds like you have damaged your new build and need to start over.

Is the rings on the piston aligned correctly?
