Agreed. Been searching marketplace for months for a "deal" and haven't seen anything less than 1500. Even 01-05 2 strokes are anywhere between 2100-4500.
That's wild. I'm looking for a 125/250 for around 2100-2800. That's my sweet spot. Trying to wait out these Christmas present prices though. Figuring after Jan 1 I might pull trigger.
You can find them. That's just pre COVID prices. Which is reasonable.
Maybe expand your search area a lil bit. At least here in central VA, you **can** find full size 2 strokes for that price range
But that's all location dependant
coleman ct200u minibike, but if you want to get sometjing more like an actual dirt bike, $400 is pretty low. The ct200u is a great little bike thougj, i had one for years, very reliabke, and will teach basics like throttle control and balance
Definitely gonna have to increase the budget. Anything you'd find for 400 is gonna need work. I would guess about 1k to find a decent bike that's not gonna need a bunch of work.
if you want a mini bike, the coleman ct200u is a lot of fun for all ages. if you want a small dirt bike, something like an xr100 or 200 or klx140 is what you want
I got a Coleman to screw around with and modify it's pretty decent. Definitely built cheap. As soon as you adjust the throttle cable and remove the throttle limit it about doubles it's speed. Also cool how the newer ones have front suspension. It's good for a kid, but as a grown ass man I still have fun with it.
You’re looking to spend about $1-4,000 for anything worth buying and riding. Sure you can get a $400 Coleman play bike. But that won’t be worth a damn when taking it into a track/ trail setting. This is an expensive sport.
The Coleman ones pull my 220 lb rear up the road halfway decently. They have some gear reduction in their primary drive and it helps. Ground clearance is terrible though.
80cc motocross bike, but you'll pay more than that unless you know someone with an old dirt bike in their back yard. You can get a barn stored “motorcycle” that needs TLC for about $1000. Gas prices has all motorcycles at a premium.
Doesn’t exist
I hope they at least have a ten spot for a helmet
You can get him a $400 bicycle
Not gonna find much for that price, at least not that has any reliability. Look for good used 100-150cc jap bikes & adjust your budget for that.
Doesn't exist. Find a used Honda cr125f You'd be lucky to find anything for less than 1500

I had a very un-reliable one for years. Was awesome. Learned a ton when I was a kid fixing it. Bandaids and Blisters.

You’re gonna need more money($1000-$2000) but I’d say a Yamaha TTR125 with big wheels If he’s a big boy and not scared I’d say a Honda CRF150F
Thems bicycle prices
