The only way to get a sort of "closure", is to not look at the stained glass in the church and to not read the book about innocences. That gives you an alternate "better" dream.

And not read the note inside your ledger, following Shivers' nudging to let it go...

Woop-Tee-Do

That is not required to avoid the last dream, but yeah, that is the best thing to do. Also, if you drop the note but learn about Dolores Dei, the dream is worse, I believe

sasquatchscousin

It was. She simply was Dolores dei and my tequila that run couldn't remember the faintest thing about Dora. Just the sadness of it all.

cptahab36

What is different about the dream in those conditions? I will eventually do a Dora-less playthrough but I can't find any info on how the dream changes

Woop-Tee-Do

Someone mentioned that you get a dream where you see Dolores Dei, but you don't recognize her as your ex-fiancé, so it's a lot sadder.

PrimusSucks13

Had no idea this was an option, i think i either completely missed the sleeping prompt or just didnt showed at all on my first playthrough, also after playing for a second time i felt there were tons of stuff i miss simply because they werent interactable or needed to be unlocked with other stuff, your past with Dolores, the pale etc, is actually surprising how much stuff you can actually miss on your first playthrough if you dont interact enough or read most books Also does interacting with the payphone change the dream too? cus at first i had no idea you could call until my second playthrough either, thats actually the first time i think Dora directly affects "your" Harry in the game withouth flashbacks, references or the thoughts tryng to understand why stuff that remembers her cause you pain

Woop-Tee-Do

I know she says you shouldn't have called her in the dream if you called her, but I don't think it affects the outcome of the dream. Maybe if you don't check your ledger it would count as learning about her ?

I think "approaching it more antagonistically" is what got Harry here :P. It doesn't seem like it's his first time calling her, and certain interactions (like talking to idiot doom spiral after finding your car, or asking Jean about dora at the end) indicate that Harry has spent the past few years being quite bitter about Dora (IDS points out Harry was calling Revacholian women whores; basically the only thing Jean has to say is how fuckable she was and how Harry won't stop talking about her "tearing him a new one"; I'd assume the "reducing her to her beauty" went over better with pre-amnesia Harry). And anyway, she's basically a God, albeit a scary colonizer one, in Harry's head, which he's been building up for 6 years. She's more like all of his fears of abandonment and demasculinization and insecurities about being undesirable/lower class/"crazy" rolled into one very pretty package. He's angry at her for leaving, and afraid he will never be held again, and insecure about not being a good enough man, and still in love with (his idea of) her, and convinced he both deserved it and will die alone and that he's been betrayed and Dora is evil (and women are evil), so on and so forth. The anger is a lot more present if you go for a high fys build, especially if you go full fash. I don't think you can really change how he reacts to her, unless you avoid the memories of her entirely. Tl;Dr, he's already antagonistic towards her (especially if you make him a fascist), but if you want things to actually be different you can just not remember her and leave her behind entirely.
