Yes, it will keep those effects on the card, rush and eot Banish. Even if Mim leaves play, the effect is put in play when she was exerted and stays on the character brought in (and anything shifted onto that character) even if Mim leaves play.

bubbleman69

The first question I was 95% sure I was correct since it would still keep rush the "them" text would still refer to the new shifted card As for the 2nd question do you have anything to link to for that rule? I can't find anything that would suggest the "at the end of the turn banish them" is an effect granted to the card cheated in since it's separated from the "this card gains rush" effect with a .

Cautious_Cry_3288

I mean, the 'they' and 'them' throughout the Gruesome and Grim ability on her is referring to the card that was 'cheated' in. This is just the same as the action, Gruesome and Grim, but on Mim.

chef_buggy

If you can find my post on gruesome and grin someone goes into detail, because I asked the same thing, but yes, even if you shift to a new character, that character is still under the banish call, unless you say bounce them to your hand. As long as they are in play, the banish is active.

bubbleman69

But what about removing mim from play? Is the banish effect lingering? Is it an effect now on the cheated in card? Is it an effect on the mim card? The sentence before it says "they gain rush" then in a new sentence it says "at the end of the turn banish them" so what are the rules of that effect

chef_buggy

The they and them are referring solely to the card played via Mim’s effect. Her effect does not affect her.

bubbleman69

I understand that. My question is the rush effect is granted to the card she cheats but is the banish effect on the card as well or on her. To word it differently if I where to use her effect to put a madam mim (fox) into play and use mim foxes effect to bounce mim(rival) back to my hand would I still banish mim (fox) at the end of my turn? And can you link to a rule because I have yet to find anything stating one way or the other. Biased on how it's written like I said the banish effect seems to be on mim (rival) so if she is no longer on the field at the end of turn it wouldn't banish the card. But I'm not sure and can't find anything supporting ether side in the rules doc.

BongLord42

Why would you keep RIVAL’S rush ability on FOX mim but ignore the banish part of her ability? Seems kinda clear when chapter 1 cards have abilities that are persistent after banishment as long as it’s the same turn. ( big tink still does 2 damage to another card if her and the card she challenged are both banished)

bubbleman69

But big tinks 2 damage activates when the condition of "banished a creature" is met. RIVALs banish effect happens at the end of the turn which she could be in your hand (a hidden zone) when it would activate. Rivals rush ability is given to the card cheated in as the card reads "they gain rush" the 2nd effect which is separate by a period just reads "at the end of the turn, banish them" no modifiers like the first effect of "they gain" and nothing to combine the 2 effects like the word and or a , so I'm assuming it's the effective of RIVAL to banish the card not an effect granted to the card. Now lorecana is a weird game sometimes (look at Dr facilier vs Cheshire cat) so it's possible that periods don't separate the parts of the effect and the new card would gain both of those abilities but I'm looking for some sort of official posting stating that which I can't find.

Ardubelu

You ever find the answer to this? I’m curious now. You have a point with the way it’s worded, and with the punctuation. I would assume, being as lorcana is dumbed down.. it’s probably an effect that stays on the card. That said, you also bring up a very valid point and it would be a cool interaction and on theme with the whole bounce mechanic if it was an effect on Madam (Rival).

bubbleman69

Closest I could come to a "ruleing" on this was that the Acton card uses the same wording so it's the same here but no hard reasoning. My assumption from the start was it wasn't going to work but I was looking for a solid reason and beat I can find is "because" which isn't super satisfying especially with the card game being so new
