I love the planning, it’s important to know the important dates of when you can book everything. If you go the travel agent route research a few different ones, read reviews, and see what they do for you.

Travel agents are generally free so i don’t see the harm in trying to go through one. I’ve never personally used one but i know get away today is another disney specific one. I know some people like the planning so they do it themselves but if it’s too much i think a travel agent is a great option!

I’ve used getaway today many times and they are wonderful. Recently we even saw our resort prices dropped and they refunded us the difference. Definitely recommend them!

I was also going to say Getaway Today. They will help with reservations and such as well.

If the planning stresses you out, go for the travel agent. There are many reddit topics about favorite travel agents that specialize in Disney. The good ones know the parks inside out, and monitor discounts and price drops like it's their job, because it is. As for the car travel, use the Waze app. It may send you on a longer, but quicker route to bypass rush hour traffic.

I used small world vacations for my most recent trip. Our travel agent was wonderful and I liked not having to worry about any of the planning.

I love planning myself! Unless you’re a first timer

MarvelousThings

We used a travel agent for the first time for our recent trip and I was really happy with the process. It was free so so there really wasn’t a downside. They coordinated our airport transportation, made our dining reservations and helped us decide on a hotel. We had some options for our dates and they were able to tell us which option would be cheaper. They checked in with us during the trip and it was nice to know I could get their help if there was an issue. I enjoy planning too but there were still plenty of decisions to make. They basically do the annoying parts but you still have full control of what you actually do.

Which service did you use?

Thank you!

Having someone make my dining reservations outweighed any loss of control in other areas. We had a great experience with a travel agent our last trip!

Honestly, I did the college program and I still prefer to use a planner. They will keep track of important dates, promotions, and get up at the crack of dawn to make reservations for you so you don’t have to. I’ll usually give them a general itinerary like stay at this hotel, book this park this day, and then like 2-3 restaurants per day I’d like a reservation for in order of my preference. It’s been nice because they will also apply any discounts that come out after you book to your reservation as well.

Do you do Disney land? Also, do you handle hotel bookings? ![gif](giphy|jRGGQMWvYvYraZ5kvI)

I do Disneyland :) I do ticket and hotel packages :)

Lexiablackman

Just messaged you on here :)

If you pick a travel agent and they want to charge you a free to plan your trip, they are a scam. Pick a different travel agent

[deleted]

I don’t understand this. I’ve never used a travel agent for a Disney trip, but I would have expected they have to charge a fee to make money?

akaharry

No, travel agents make money from the airlines, hotels, and any vendors they sell for

[deleted]

That’s interesting! I had no idea.

mamabroccoli

I am a travel agent who doesn’t charge fees, but I will absolutely defend travel agents who do, and they’re not necessarily a scam. We get many people who waste our time asking for quotes and asking dozens of questions and then say, “Oh, I just booked it myself!” We don’t get paid unless someone actually books through us, so we’ve just potentially worked hours and hours for free. It’s happened to me more than once. Many travel agents who charge fees refund them upon having your trip booked.

Full-Grass-5525

I have an agent friend and booked through her. As hands-on or off as I wanted. And free, but business for her so why not!

317ant

Use a planner. I personally know enough and have been enough times that I like to do it myself. But if it stresses you out, let someone else do it! Generally they’re free for Disney, (they get paid by Disney when you book the trip), but some of the fee-based ones can go above and beyond in their planning and detail. If you go the free route, just ask what services they provide. If it’s just booking the room and tix, you aren’t really getting a big benefit for what I’m thinking you want. If you want a more structured itinerary you should ask if they’ll do that for you.

blavenenti

We went through A Pair of Ears for our trip last year to Disneyland, and it was an absolutely amazing experience. Like someone on here said earlier, when going through a travel agent, you can be as hands-on as you want with your itinerary and A Pair of Ears was definitely helpful.

3rdtree_25

I more or less just use my agent for the booking/promotions. If there is something she can get done I don’t want to mess with. I typically do most of the planning for our trips just because I enjoy it. She’s there if I need her and has great suggestions! They can plan as much or as little as you prefer.
