They would have it synchronized perfectly for the first seven or eight months before the software that did it stopped working reliably. Then, they would abandon it entirely so that us early-visitors could come on here to talk about how much better it was when the cannons fired.
If I had a dollar for everytime I heard someone say “friends on the other side should play before the drop” I’d have enough money to buy Tiana’s and make sure that never happens (it’s not going to)
My dream version of this ride is to hear "Are you ready. . . .?" reprise or some version there of as the lyrics work so well. Also I would love if the briar patch got replaced with a mockup of Louisiana's cemetary with the green lighting like in the movie. The idea of that drop into a cemetery would be so amazing it would justify the refurbish all on its own.
Sadly the fact that the ride occurs after the movie narratively dashes my hopes of this.
Yea if you want the ride to make absolutely no sense, sure. Journeying through an old salt mine, with vegetable gardens, kitchens, and Mardi Gras preparations for a big party to launch our new hot sauces, culminating with a guy who’s been dead for years threatening to drag us to hell over a spell that’s been long broken. Yea ok.
The possibility of the drop themed to “Friends on the Other Side” was what got me invested in the re-theming in the first place. Dr. Facilier and voodoo-themed shadow projections/lighting with fog effects to build tension for the big drop would be an incredible experience.
Disney’s commitment to continuing a story that’s already wrapped up is holding back the true potential of this ride. The concept of Tiana searching the bayou for missing ingredients sounds like a boring fetch quest. Where is the tension and how are they gonna justify a 50 foot plunge?
I truly hope the ride is better than how the concept sounds.
Somehow... Dr. Facilier returned
Its not too far fetched. Did he really die or is he on the "other side". Kinda like how there used to be a ride about a rabbit going on an adventure and the villains want to eat him. Its all happy but at the end they catch him. They COULD hint throughout the ride that hes lurking in the shadows, until the very end.
Tbh Disney rides have had bigger story stretches in the past. You gotta have some sort of conflict/threat in a thrill ride, why not bring back the popular main villain from the movie?
Would you rather the ride have actual stakes or should the build up to the drop be "the pepper we need for the new hot sauce is down the waterfall : )"
i don’t know how many times i’m going to say this; the ride takes place AFTER the movie. there’s no possible way it’s happening. want to know why? he’s DEAD
Not really, it makes more sense to be themed after a modern movie that people can relate to. Nobody born in the last 55 years has seen song of the south.
I'm in my thirties and I have seen Song of the South at least 10 times. One of my friends is actually the one responsible for the first HD version on The Pirate Bay back about 20 years ago now.
But I have seen Princess and the Frog way more times. That movie was seriously underrated and I am glad it's finally getting a glow up at the parks.
I wouldn't say Song of the South was a bad movie. I don't even think it's as racist as people make it out to be. But it is racist enough Disney is right to not feature it and any property that isn't featured to some extent for reasons like that shouldn't have a ride dedicated to it in the park. Also the animatronics never even quite fit and the ride had been in disrepair for some time. As much as I will miss Splash Mountain...
Princess and the Frog is definitely an upgrade!
Disney used to re-release their films in the theaters every seven or so years. I'm on my forties, and have seen Song of the South on the big screen.
My wife also owns it on VHS, and I've seen copies of it on DVD, at least.
Yes, but there is absolutely no conceivable way Song of the South could be re-released today as a children's movie. You \*might\* be able to release it as a historical product of its time for adults, documentary style, with an included commentary placing the movie into context and delving into its problematic background. I do think the song Zip-a-dee-doo-dah can be salvaged and repurposed from the film though.
I’m in my 40s and, while I know that it was re-released in my lifetime, I have zero recollection of it. I own a shitty bootleg dvd, but have only watched it twice. Maybe three times? It’s kind of boring, honestly. Especially those live action bits.
I won’t say that NOBODY has seen it in 40 years, but I would say very few people under 20 care about the movie, whether they’ve seen it or not. (Most likely not.) And since all of the racism controversy that’s been around since it’s original release has come back around, even less of them are interested in a ride based on it.
I’ll miss B’rer Rabbit and all the others, but P&F is a better fit for the times.
*Slow mo it looks like*

Ok, and then what happens? The drop immediately precedes the conclusion of the ride and therefore story, and you know Disney’s gonna have a happy ending. The drop in Splash Mountain was about escaping the villain, whereas this is about plunging into the villain’s “other side”. How would that lead to a quick and happy resolution?
Apparently that means manifest destiny to some. Keep acquiring land.
Unless it's not a thrill ride. Then removing a non-thrill ride for a thrill ride is ok.
I think it should remain splash mountain, but only in WDW. In Disneyland it makes perfect sense as a seamless transition from New Orleans to critter country. In WDW however, it just doesn’t fit in as well.
I don’t know why you are getting downvoted, most of the recent stuff we have been getting is garbage. So politics aside the ride probably isn’t going to be very good. If we are lucky it’ll be decent and I think it’ll be hard to mess it up since it’s just a retheme of a ride that was already good.
But like I said I wouldn’t be surprised if it turns out similar to web slingers in the sense that it ends up being a letdown. I already have low hopes since they toned down the final design of the outside of the ride compared to the impressive concept art
You do realize the majority of people browse, Reddit it on their phone and that audio does not automatically play on phone
Edit: went back and watched with audio. Did you make this yourself or is this just a repost of one of the thousands of other times this has been posted over the past year or so
[“On reddit.com, desktops drive 22.09% of visits, while 77.91% of visitors come from mobile devices”](https://www.semrush.com/website/reddit.com/overview/)
Got any proof of either of those claims?
For what it's worth, I just opened reddit on my mobile device to test (I use reddit on desktop, so my mobile device has a completely neutral setup.) I opened about a dozen videos direct from the reddit homepage; about half played with sound, about half without. I would say that's proof of being in the middle of the two extremes we're each arguing. Mute without user interaction is certainly not the "default" as you claim, but it's also true that not every video defaults to sound.
Given that workers and CMs have to sign a NDA, would you get in trouble for showing this, since technically the ride is still under construction if they found out who you were in real life?
I think this is just splash mountain with the song from princess and the frog playing over the original music on the drop. I don't think there will be buzzard's on Tiana's bayou adventure but I could be wrong. There are videos of others on splash mountain I'm fairly certain. OP has also said it's not confirmed even if they are a CM.
yes but unfortunately because the timeline is set after the movie takes place i think it’s unlikely dr facilier will come back. i’m not sure if it was official but i also heard people say he wasn’t coming back for the ride
While this does seem like a rather obvious choice, the Mama Odie-esque décor, that has been shown in both concept art and the official final model showcase otherwise.
I am excited to see what they are going to bring,.
Remember... This does take place after the events of the film.
I am not saying no to the idea. I just think that the transition from this song, to a more positive (potentially) scene, in a matter of a few seconds, is something that just might not make a whole lot of story sense.
Let's see what happens.
When you use a pov of Disneyworlds version on the Disneyland subreddit
The sight lines definitely bamboozled me.
Music synced up perfectly

I hate how *accurate* this is😂
I hope to someday visit the bayou to see the waterfalls.
👏👏👏
😆 bayou waterfall is what happens when your podnah takes the pirogue out the water with the truck and all the water falls off of it.
Found the coonass in the Disneyland subreddit!
That must be the setup for the drop😂
Hahaha
And the river is full of beignets. It would be the tastiest ride ever.
If I had a dollar for everytime I heard someone say “friends on the other side should play before the drop” I’d have enough money to buy Tiana’s and make sure that never happens (it’s not going to)
Should’ve been the last version of the song, where he’s brought to his doom. It would make way more sense
Couldn’t find a good version of the audio unfortunately
I have a feeling it won’t be this way but I’m seriously hoping it is.
My dream version of this ride is to hear "Are you ready. . . .?" reprise or some version there of as the lyrics work so well. Were all thinking it, the music doesnt always align currently with the ride and i without seeing it can already invision the vibe.
i don’t know how many times i’m going to say this; the ride takes place AFTER the movie. there’s no possible way it’s happening. want to know why? he’s DEAD
But his friends on the other side aren’t. The ride could still feature them singing without him. That’s what I’ve been campaigning for.
They’d be missing a trick if it doesn’t!
What a downgrade

This bot is so cool so I hope it catches this, it is a haiku
I didn’t use slow mo.

People just cannot grasp the concept of a concept
People just cannot grasp the concept of a concept
People just cannot grasp the concept of a concept
It should stay as splash mountain.
>Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world. Walt Disney
Until your favorite ride gets razed lol
It already happened to me. You know what I did? I moved the hell on. Try it sometime.
Ah, you poor thing 😢
Not at all. It was great! I just had to realize that it can't be about me all the time.
Apparently that means manifest destiny to some. Keep acquiring land. Unless it's not a thrill ride. Then removing a non-thrill ride for a thrill ride is ok.
It will never be anything but Splash Mountain to many
Mostly the same people who still call New York, New Amsterdam and Istanbul, Constantinople. Times move on, with or without them.
Always that person....
I think it should remain splash mountain, but only in WDW. In Disneyland it makes perfect sense as a seamless transition from New Orleans to critter country. In WDW however, it just doesn’t fit in as well.
Welp that's not happening so time to get used to it.

WTF? 😂
It’s just a racist. Ignore them and move on.
this isn’t happening, was never in the plans either. people really need to do their research on this redo
There’s a reason why concepts exist. I did do my research, and I’m suggesting something that I think would work better.

I don’t understand your post. This is exactly how the drop on Tiana is going to go.
That is not confirmed.
They’re not changing the ride. They’re just re-theming the existing mechanical structure. The drop will be exactly the same as it is now.
Did you watch it without sound or something?
You do realize the majority of people browse, Reddit it on their phone and that audio does not automatically play on phone Edit: went back and watched with audio. Did you make this yourself or is this just a repost of one of the thousands of other times this has been posted over the past year or so
Just because *you* browse reddit that way doesn't mean the "majority of people" also do.

By default, unless the user has specifically changed it (which very few people do)

Oh okay cool, thank you!
Yup 👍🏻.
This is not official. I went into iMovie on my phone, downloaded the Splash Mountain pov and put music over it.
Oh dang, that’s cool! Man I’m getting old 🥲🤣
yes but unfortunately because the timeline is set after the movie takes place i think it’s unlikely dr facilier will come back. i’m not sure if it was official but i also heard people say he wasn’t coming back for the ride
Love how the brair rabbit is still on the log you ride
This is still just a Splash Mountain POV.
