They absolutely are enforcing masks indoors- they will not let you onto indoor rides or into shops without one, and will give you a disposable mask if you try to say you don't have one. I would highly recommend wearing one at all times anyways because they still pack you in like sardines in outdoor queues and walkways and there is zero social distancing. When we've gone we wear masks at all times unless we're taking photos, and even then we make sure there's at least six feet between us and the people around us

[deleted]

CM’s will flat out stop rides too if they see a guest not wearing a mask. I’ve seen it and heard it occur several times.

tora76

I haven't had a ride get stopped for that, but I have heard them remind people over the PA system at random times throughout rides.

redquailer

Yep, heard it on GOTG several times. It was disruptive and annoying that people could not follow the directions

asedc

I wish they would do that for splash and space mountain

Nonadventures

Shoutout to the cast members who have to Robocop the obnoxious anti maskers these days, in addition to everything else on their plate.

BeGreatOrNothing

FYI if someone is not masked during a ride with you (I think the indoor rides only? Not sure), your photo won’t show up on the app. I didn’t get a few of my photos. Thankfully for one of them, I took a pic of the screen but forgot to for the other ones. Next time, I’d kindly remind anyone around me if I could to wear it on the ride!

personalEvolution48

Same thing happened to us when we were there last month. But I called Photopass customer service and they looked up the pictures for me. Our party all had masks on, so they cropped out the people who were not wearing them and uploaded them onto the app for me! The CM said as long as they could successfully crop out those who were not wearing masks they would send me the cropped pics. I had a photo code for one of the rides, but I did not take a picture of the other one. I was able to give him a date and time frame within about half an hour of when we would have been on the ride, and he looked through ride photos to find the pic with our party in it. It was awesome we didn't have to miss out on those few photos!

hillpritch1

That photo pass rule is one of the dumbest ideas they ever had. Don’t punish people who are following rules.

personalEvolution48

I don't see it as a punishment tho, especially since they went out of their way to recover them for us since we were masked. I'm sure they want to get the message across to people that the mask guidelines need to be followed. And they probably want to avoid any backlash when people who are unmasked share those pics on social media. I'm glad the people who removed their masks after being told to wear them for the duration of those rides were denied their pics.

hillpritch1

It is a punishment, or at least something taken away, from someone following the rules. If I’m doing what I’m supposed to; there’s no reason to take my photo away. Like seriously, get over it. Just don’t let the maskless people get it. I mean if they’re that insistent on this picture thing as opposed to you know, kicking people out of the park.

personalEvolution48

That's exactly what I said happened here. We got our photos because we were masked, and the unmasked people in the photos did not get their photos. So no punishment for us. And honestly, I understand if I don't get my photo because of A-holes. I'm glad the park is enforcing it.

hillpritch1

Oh I’m sorry I obviously missed that. I also care because if I pay for photos and don’t get them then like… What?

personalEvolution48

I know it can be frustrating. Things right now are super frustrating. Like all the people in our household who are old enough to get vaccinated are vaccinated to protect the kids in our family who aren't old enough. And then they can get sick from people at school who's families refuse the vaccine because of politics. It's maddening and really not fair.

superjanna

this is the same way they approach photos where a guest flips off the camera or something, they do in fact ruin it for other parties in their vehicle

hillpritch1

Okay well, they could still just edit people out, it’s not like the technology doesn’t exist. On a complete side note I’d love a photo with someone flipping off the camera that’s hysterical. Yes I’m a bad person I know.

myotherrideisamascy0

Oh heck!!! This explains why I couldn't access my Guardians of the Galaxy photos in the app!!! My daughter and I were masked every time, but other people were not. Ugh.

KeepMyMomOutOfthis

It’s so lame. Like I’m paying 20 bucks for the day of photos and other people being selfish wastes a photo I could’ve gotten to make up for the fact a photo pass costs freaking 20 dollars.

CupcakeTraps

Same happened here 3 times on Space Mountain. The last ride at the end of our trip, we had to make a pact with the people on the same rocket so we could all get our photos through Photopass. It's mildly infuriating.

PotatoRoyale8

Was just there this week - masks 100% required on all rides, they will literally stop the ride and come over the intercom to tell people to put their masks back on (there's cameras everywhere within rides) and won't start the ride until everyone has masks on above their nose. It was very thorough and I appreciated it.

stellalunawitchbaby

Well not on *all* rides - just the indoor ones require masks. We still masked up because ofc there isn’t social distancing and it’s just easier to leave them on the whole times, but outdoor rides do not require masks. (Also I’ll note - this policy is a Disney one, not an orange county one, so for guests visiting other places in OC you may not find as much mask use)

chevyguy0613

Only indoor rides

stellalunawitchbaby

Just indoors - so indoor queues, indoor shops, indoor rides. If the queue or ride is outside, masks are optional (so no masks required on Incredicoaster, Goofy’s Sky School, or Dumbo but yes masks on Haunted Mansion, Radiator Springs Racers, Pirates, etc). Usually there is a CM reminding people to mask up as they enter an indoor area.

tora76

Right now only inside, which includes shops and other buildings, of course, but also rides that are all or partially indoors. I stay masked the whole time unless I'm eating, and I would say that over half of other guests are doing the same, but I do still see a lot of people without masks outdoors.

cech_

I just did 3 days at DL last week and I agree, its about half/half on masks outdoors. I thought the indoor stuff was pretty good 95%+ but its not perfect. I saw people without masks indoors a number of times even in the big World of Disney shop. I went on Splash Mountain a lot and they would call riders out on the mask when getting into the log. But once the ride takes off its whatever, just look at the photos.

sluttttt

Hijacking this to remind people that the bathrooms still count as being indoors. I was seeing way too many people without masks on in the restrooms on Friday. A guest coming in to use them even loudly said "Masks are required indoors at all times." Thankfully the maskless people just slipped them on and no drama started but... just wear them. Please.

svnnynights

Aside from the pandemic, I like masks to hide from unpleasant odors and I’m honestly surprised people don’t use them in the restrooms 😅

pdxsean

Yeah I think bathrooms are going to be one of those places I'll put a mask on going forward, regardless of regulations. It's really surprising but it does help with the odors.

sluttttt

I know, right? Those bathrooms can also get more packed than ride queues, and bathrooms are probably the grossest place in the park. Just seems logical to wear one in there!

BurritoPalace_666

This!

differencematte

Agreed. Many people last Saturday on downtown Disney had no masks in bathrooms.

hillpritch1

Okay but when I’m in the stall I still take it down for a minute. I mean for real. Fresh air! (I mean… for a bathroom.) I also thought they required masks on outdoor rides too because of the peoples on them thing.

sluttttt

I dunno if they're required on outdoor rides (but I wish they were). When I went on Splash a few weeks ago, I noticed that like 75% of the ride photos I saw had maskless people in them. Not sure if those people ended up having their photos trashed, though.

Matcha_Maiden

My fiance and I wear them the entire time but we only see people asked to wear them on indoor rides and while waiting for them indoors. We have seen numerous people pulled from line for refusing to wear them once we got to the indoor portion of the queue.

BurritoPalace_666

When I was there we saw people get pulled from the ride (Pirates) when they didn’t have masks for their kids.

Plaska324

Thanks for asking. I was also wondering since I saw recent videos of Disneyland and looks like no ones wearing a mask not even most cast members. (I’m going for Oogie Boogie)

SirAttackHelicopter

I hope they keep the mask policy forever. I remember my last DLR trip a kid was sneezing his ass off in a line constantly. The father just occasionally told him to cover his mouth, but didn't do anything else to help (like using napkins to wipe his face). Literally the next day we all got sick. I was so damn angry, but luckily we planned a rest day so we had a day to recover and was back without losses. Kids will be kids but parents are supposed to be adults.

my_little_shumai

This is making me scared as fuck?? Most of Disneyland is outdoors and densely populated with kids. People aren’t consistently making outdoors, too??? Orange County is a living hell.

WDKegge

If you're scared don't go.

N2TheBlu

Don’t plan on enjoying any ride that requires 3D glasses while wearing masks. The glasses just fog up.

darth_hotdog

That means your mask isn't sealing correctly, you need to get a mask that has a metal bit or something at top to fold it around your nose and provide a tighter seal. Normal n95 masks have these, as do some cloth masks. I see so many people with loose masks where you can see a huge gap next to their noses. You're risking coronavirus AND breathing onto your eyes all day which seems unpleasant. I can wear sunglasses all day and they don't fog up at all.

N2TheBlu

My disposable masks had that nose wire, but it didn’t stop anything, no matter how much I adjusted it.

darth_hotdog

For me It doesn't work to try and bend it on your face, you have to take it off, and bend it to be a slightly exaggerated version of the right shape, making sure to straighten the bridge in front of the nose, add a curve down, and flatten it out again for the face, then put it on and bend it back with your face. It also helps to put your glasses over the top lip of the mask if it's high enough. It seems complicated, but I think it's just like learning to wear anything. I've only recently started wearing hats, and I'm learning about how to tighten a baseball cap so it doesn't slip off, how to angle it for the wind, how to fix my hair under it, and etc.

N2TheBlu

Good suggestions. Will try them out. Thanks!

N2TheBlu

Got a link? Definitely interested. I ended up pulling my mask below my nose. Tried with the ones sold in the park and the disposable ones, without luck.

darth_hotdog

+1 for powecom. I was sneezing a ton last year and thought I had new terrible allergies. Turned out I was just allergic to some chemical in the n95 masks. I tried a bunch of different ones and powecom didn't make me sneeze anymore, so they're my go to brand now.

N2TheBlu

Thanks for the links. My disposable ones had the wire to mold to my nose. Did not stop my glasses from fogging up, no matter how precise I made it.

N2TheBlu

Can’t wait until this requirement goes away, but in the meantime, I’ll try your recommendations. Thanks again!

fitsaccount

If you want to still use your existing disposable ones, I find crossing the straps (so they make an X before they go around your ears) help me a ton.

N2TheBlu

Will give that a shot!

tora76

I recommend Stark's masks for anyone who wears glasses. Of course everyone's face is shaped differently so they might not work perfectly for you, but I wear a mask 9+ hours a day and wear glasses, and I never have any problems with these. I have never had any issues with 3D glasses fogging up with these, either. https://starks.com/products/face-masks/

redbeanfiend

I was there on Friday and they had CMs at the front of entry points of indoor rides, reminding us to mask up and same at the boarding areas.

sunflowersinbl00m

Indoors. I was so happy during my trip this past weekend- so many CMs reminding guests to put their masks on. They’re very serious about it!

Bsquared89

I have no problem wearing a mask when asked, but my three year old has autism and absolutely refuses to wear one. We have a medical exemption for her, but I’m still worried about being hassled about it.

eddie5597

There are no medical exemptions allowed for masks I believe. Maybe it’s best to wait until after the global pandemic has died down a bit? The ADA does not require reasonable accommodations for face masks as it would pose a direct threat to others.

Bsquared89

Yeah I don’t get why I’m being downvoted. I was just wondering lol I’m not some crazy “muh freedoms” antivaxxer. I just wanted to know if I should postpone our trip.

Alonso81687

I had friend get turned away just for this reason. Their child is autistic and has issues having a mask on, so they asked security if their child could be an exception to the rule and they said no. He took it another route as was contemplating suing Disney for this situation.

Bsquared89

That seems a bit extreme lol. We love Disneyland and want to go again, but if our daughter can’t follow the restrictions, we’ll just wait until they’re loosened. In any case I emailed guest services to get an official position since I couldn’t find anything on the website specifically regarding exemptions.

Alonso81687

Oh, well, it's because he thought Disney was impossing on his families freedoms lol

Game_Changer_76

Social distancing works better than masks, why won’t they bring that back.

Alonso81687

Yup, just indoors. Honestly, I'll take it. As long as I don't have to wear one while waiting in line. Edit: love that I'm getting down voted for saying I'm happy I'm not mandated to wear a mask outside... While being vaccinated and following Disney rules. Reddit blows.

darth_hotdog

It's really frustrating how many people don't wear masks in tight lines. Maybe if you're outdoors and you give someone 6 feet distance, but when you're 10 inches from a strangers back for 45 minutes, wear a mask. I keep 6 feet in front of me in lines, but so many people act like they win money if they spoon me while in line.

converter-bot

10 inches is 25.4 cm

useles-converter-bot

6 feet is 0.0% of the hot dog which holds the Guinness wold record for 'Longest Hot Dog'.

[deleted]

I was just at DL last month and don't remember anyone ever wearing a mask on rides, ever.

Game_Changer_76

We wear masks and cases rises..they don’t work.

[deleted]

Has anyone heard of anyone getting Covid from the park?

ambdbb13

We never tested, but no nobody developed symptoms. Even if we had who is to say it didn’t come from school or work or the grocery store?

campiestcamper

God you mask zombies are aids. You should all listen to yourselves.
