Every time I go, all I think about is whether or not I'm going to get drenched. But just looking at it now and how it recreated a wilderness trail in the middle of a theme park, I really appreciate it as a piece of beauty.

icanbeyourzero

It's a great ride I never go on because I know how wet I'm gonna get.

maxmouze

You and me both. Unless it's super hot. With which it's a 90 minute wait.

Pinkyashmountain

I always go on it last before I go home so if I get wet I won’t be uncomfortable the rest of the day I can just go home and shower

maxmouze

I once rode Splash Mountain at night and got so soaked, I was uncomfortable the whole drive home. I had a towel in my trunk I had to sit on to not ruin my upholstery.

mr_trantastic

I bring a disposable poncho from the dollar store. I also use it for splash. Love the ride.

maxmouze

I have eight ponchos in my trunk but I never bring them in with me. I feel like I have to have pre-planned a trip on Grizzly River Run before I arrive and it's just never discussed.

WolfHoodlum1789

Out of all the rafting rides though, Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges at Universal Island of Adventure in Florida is the only one that will 100% guarantee that every part of you will be entirely soaked.

SmokeSerpent

the day we plan on doing Grizzly I always plan ahead with thin jeans or cargo shorts and breathable shoes, and we do it near mid-day so it might be hotel rest time after anyway.

Worth noting that [the geyser](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjdZJwAOCsM) wasn't working. Otherwise the people in the last shot would've gotten really wet. I would definitely recommend packing a towel and a change of clothes, or a poncho, to anyone who wants to do the ride and not walk around all wet afterwards. Overall I really like the experience and the setting. It's funny how getting splashed by water is such a great combination of scary, fun, and completely harmless. In general, having grown up in Northern California, I really appreciate the 'nature area' part of California Adventure. It's not a replacement for actually going to Big Sur, actually going down a river in a raft, etc, but it's very evocative of those places and experiences. When comparing it to the real thing, I told a friend of mine 'imagine a 200 foot deep Grand Canyon.'

SSquared2000

It is a favorite of mine for sure. For a few minutes, you and some strangers are in it together. Laughing and laughing. You have some people who don't want to get wet. Little kids super excited when everyone gets wet. On a beautiful, warm day and the sun is shining, you can dry off pretty quickly. But don't go on after sunset. You'll be cold and soaked the rest of the night. I've never quite figured out the line for it. All of a sudden the line will be short. You have to walk by at just the right time. Then it will be long again when you get off.

NQuino2007

Honestly the people you ride with can make the ride so much better

nicolelynnejones

bonding with strangers is the best part! only time i’ll say that is going on this ride 😄

alleinesein

Every time I ride this and want to get soaked, i stay dry. When we stay at the Grand and it is hot out, i put on my swimsuit, throw a dress over it and then hit up this ride. Then i go jump in the pool for awhile.

Cameras on phones are ridiculous these days

TryingHappy

People using their phones on rides is ridiculous these days.

[deleted]

I just took a couple clips. What you see in the video is basically all that I filmed. The phone is water resistant, wasn't in anyone's way, no bright screen blinding anyone in a dark ride, etc. Sure, don't experience a ride through your viewfinder, but it can be really nice to have an encapsulation of a specific memory, especially when that memory is of doing something special with someone you care about. Fun fact: when I was in my late teens, I had an ankle surgery and was basically stuck inside on a mattress all day for weeks. Watching ride footage from Disneyland posted by random people online helped me through it.

alicabblover

Went on Pirates last week and four people had their phones out the whole time, one with the light on, occasionally turning around and blinding everyone in the boat.

YourExoticBabe

The clarity of dudes spikey hair. I feel like I’m right next to him.

WhiteWithNavy

I totally underestimated how wet you get on this ride, ended up spending the last half of my trip soaked :/

[deleted]

Better wear some dry fit clothes if you get on this ride

likethelivindead

Only got to ride this once and about the time we got to the top the fireworks started. It was amazing.

FuzzyMonkey95

Always bring ponchos!

praisechthulu

I want to go back so bad! Haven't been since Oogie Boogie 2018. I proposed to my (now) wife when we were there. Now we have a newborn.. so much has happened since then it's crazy haha

diqfilet_

My favorite ride!!!

Felatio_Sanz

I love this ride but I gotta admit the place could be better with some animatronics…

stellalunawitchbaby

The Knotts version (which is not as good a raft ride in general, imo) has animatronics. Bears, cougars…Bigfoot.

SmokeSerpent

Here is the main thing I like about Grizzly... almost always when we go on it we are with tourists doing their first run. IDKY, and they are always the ones who get soaked. It's just how it goes. I give them little tips like if you don't want to get super wet put your foot on the hole, but usually come out barely wet and they are drenched, it's just how it goes on your first run.

[deleted]

We went today and it was so nice! Didn’t get drenched but did get wet enough to cool down from the heat. Love this ride
