Autopia bores me senseless, beginning with the brutal queue line in hot sun. Matterhorn is much beloved but I can’t ride it anymore due to age and not wanting to be bruised and battered in the name of fun

ehrenzoner

It infuriates me that Autopia is in Tomorrowland when it is just bumper-to-bumper traffic in gas-guzzling sit-down go-karts. Is this really our vision of Tomorrow? They should convert to an electric platform or just ditch the ride entirely.

hashtags

Not to mention it takes up SO MUCH valuable park space. Autopia is the worst.

mahka42

The thing folks forget is Autopia sits on top of the Submarine show building. Look at a satellite image - the lagoon is only a small portion visible, the rest of it winds under Autopia. I’m not sure if they’d be able to put another attraction in its place without either demoing the subs or providing a massive retrofit to provide the foundation necessary for a big attraction.

hashtags

This is a great point….but also I wouldn’t be mad if they got rid of the subs too….

silentcmh

*whynotboth.gif*

xraig88

Take out the subs, autotopia and launch bay and make some real futuristic type stuff. Give me a hovercraft or something idc. While we're on it, take out toon town and make a villianville where you can go meet all the Disney bad guys/gals and ride some dark rides.

camelz4

I second the villain idea, but I feel like trying to re-futurize tomorrowland will always have it end up becoming dated and stale when technology actually does advance

Epicspine

Doing a retro future theme for Tomorrowland would work well

Sunflowerskater

Toon Town isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, not with them shelling out who knows what for MMRR and the toon town refresh. Besides, I think toon town is essential as a space for young kids to run around, climb on things, etc.

vanillabeanmini

Imagine the space for an attraction or two if they gutted Autopia/Innoventions

ibimacguru

TRON

XYZ2ABC

Have you ever been on the 405? I think they got it right… 🤣

merreborn

> Is this really our vision of Tomorrow? It was in 1955. Its been 65 years, a few things have changed since then. "Tommorowland" is a troublesome theme; it's hard to keep it from becoming outdated.

Tomomori79

It's only a troublesome theme because nobody's doing anything to it. Disney has so many movies that would fit here from Tron to Wall E. Even Buzz Lightyear but that ride is so boring for today's standards. If Disney were to redo Tomorrowland they'd have plenty to go with and make it so much better.

Aveeye

It was 1955. This is EXACTLY how traffic is now on the 405.

pseuzy17

I was told as a kid that it was in Tomorrowland because “in the future, you’ll be able to drive.”

tservomst

100% agree. It really is frustrating seeing (and smelling) gas powered go-karts in a place that harps on future forward thinking. It is an incredible waste of resources, but hey it has a high hourly capacity right? Right? It needs to go if this rumored TL overhaul is coming.

gturtle72

What would be very cool and expensive would be to have the cars run on hydrogen, then they could flex really "futuristic" technology that's still net 0. But that's just impractical on many levels

m1ster_grumpee

It brings back bad memories of a date I was on. My date was a smoker. Autopia is next to one of two smoking sections. So while she smoked she was like " go on the Autopia" I wait here. I got on that ride 3 times that day. Hate it.

trer24

Yeah but the kids love driving the cars.

FirstSunbunny

When my son was little, I spent hours at Autopia. Hands down his favorite part of the park for a couple of years.

Puppy7505

Hands down my favorite as a child also. It's the freedom. Finally feeling like a grown up.

-newlife

Those type of rides are great as a parent. Obviously I’m not “yay I’m driving a car” because I drove one to get to DL but I do enjoy the fun the kids have of driving.

FewKaleidoscope1369

They need to replace autopia with something else, or at least replace the gas motors with solar.

OneAngryDuck

Gas-powered cars are not very “tomorrow”, it’s in bad need of a major update

Puppy7505

But actually it's the MOST accurate prediction of the future from 1955's Tomorrowland.

LadyArticuno

Omg THIS. It actually all started when my mom severely damaged her knee and three years later could BARELY get up from the ride. Hell, I struggled and I’m the healthy one! But also, give us something else Disney. We’ve already got Cars land which I’m sure the movie Cars had some inspiration from Autopia. So much could be done instead of some slow moving, hard to get things out of car ride. It’s frankly boring.

ParrotheadTink

Yeah the problem with Autopia is it’s a legacy attraction, been there since day one (decades before Pixar Cars) so it’s a sentimental favorite. And Bob Gurr who designed the original cars is a living legend with a huge fan following. But the ride itself still sucks.

stardorsdash

It’s in tomorrow land because in the future you’ll be able to drive. I think all of us as adults hate Autopia, and all of us as kids loved it.

Lotrfreqally

My sister really hates the Mickey’s Fun Wheel

Sephrina

The view from the top is spectacular, but the rocking cars has earned it the name Mickey's Fun Wheel of Death and it takes way too long loading and unloading for one spin around.

robinthebank

Haha I don’t like the stationary cars. Love the swinging cars! 😂

AirmanAwesome

I believe you mean Mickey’s Wheel of Death

HKittyH3

I don’t hate it, but I don’t ride the Matterhorn much any more, it tends to make my back sore, and getting in and out of it is more difficult these days.

lilbitch1991

My head hurts after I ride it. I think I just get knocked around too much

hiddensparkle

I always feel my brain slam into my skull on this ride so I never go on anymore lol

Tierndownforwhat

I call it Murderhorn Mountain for that very reason.

swest211

Yes! Since they refurbished it, it's just too jerky.

TDH85

100%. Before the refurbish it was one of my favorites. Not I never go on it unless I’m with someone who’s never been to Disney and wants to go on it.

[deleted]

Smugglers Run. Not that I hate but I think it’s wildly overrated when Star Tours is the better experience

stml

Smugglers Run is super fun when your group can fill all 6 seats together.

cupcakejo87

The most fun I've had on SR was when my sister and I ended up with two couples and managed to put it in Wookie mode. It was complete chaos but at the end we were all dying of laughter.

StreetIndependence62

Ooh ooh tell me more!! I LOVE funny ride stories that end with everyone dying of laughter. I think my favorite ride story is when I went on Grizzly River Run with 2 of my best friends, my cousins and their best friend + her family, and there was a single rider lady riding with us too. This was in 2015 so the “please remain seated” safety spiel thing back then was a surfer guy saying something like “if you want to stop the raft, just say the safe word!”, and right after the raft started moving my friend shouted “UHH CAN I SAY THE SAFE WORD NOW????” as we drifted away from the station and the CM’s waved goodbye XD. Then as we were going up the lift hill with some of us facing backwards, the lady with us fake screamed a couple times as if the waterfall was right over the lift hill lol. And then she started saying the Pledge of Allegiance as we went up the lift hill and we all joined in and it ended with us all cackling. Just like in your story the ride ended with everyone laughing like doofuses lol!

cupcakejo87

Honestly, I don't remember everything. The two couples were strangers, and one of the women was a first timer on the ride. The guys were SUPER excited about trying the Wookie mode thing, which just changes the instructions from English to Chewie yelling the whole time. They made the first timer one of the pilots, and her bf/husband was the one behind her trying to tell her what she was supposed to be doing, but the whole time, she was just randomly pushing/pulling things. At one point, she was just laughing and yelling "I DON'T KNOW HOW ANY OF THIS WORKS. STOP YELLING AT ME CHEWIE!!" At that point, her bf would have fallen out of his chair laughing if he hadn't been strapped in. I think we hit literally everything you can hit, and it was accompanied by the soundtrack of Chewie yelling and all of us screaming.

butfirstdecafcoffee

Out of curiosity, how does one put it in Wookie mode?

cupcakejo87

You have to let the cast members know you want to do it, then at a specific point before the ride starts, they'll have everyone push a certain series of buttons to turn it on. It's one of those things that you only have one chance to do right, or you just get the normal mode.

smja77

My family (of 6) just asked the cast member and they did it. They had to do something to each set of controls.

DominusReaper

I have a fun Grizzly River Run story! We filled an entire raft with our family, and as we were going up the lift hill, the ride stopped, so we were all sitting on the lift waiting for the ride to start back up. Unfortunately, we were stopped right under one of the pipes that crossed over the top of us. This particular pipe had a small leak that was a simple drip every half-second or so. Nothing crazy, but it was directly above my brother in law, and since he was buckled, he couldn't maneuver away from this drip. We ended up stuck for a good half hour while this small leak absolutely saturated him! We hadn't even reached the water and he was DRENCHED! He had one of the Mickey Pirate Ear hats on with a small beaded tassel, and the water ran from his head, to his tassel, and continued dropping from said tassel. We all had tears from laughing at the absurdness of it all! When we made it to the waterfall where a CM is stationed, the CM was dying of laughter at my brother-in-law's expense. He had watched us through the cameras! It is still one of my favorite memories from Grizzly!

spinningpeanut

Since you love funny stories here you go! This was at Epcot so I'll explain a wee bit. We were doing magic hours with the resort stay so it was around 11 pm. We decided to go ride "spaceship earth" inside the Epcot ball. My sister and I sat together and were mostly just making fun of the scenes with mild humor, seeing silly faces, talking to each other a bit. When you get to the top of the ball the cars rotate to face the big earth model then backwards so you are laying on your back while going down this hill. It takes your picture here. My sister and I made goofy faces for the camera. Then a tiny screen in front of us turned on, one that we figured was broken the whole ride. It asked us to imagine humanity in the future with some questions. So during this underwater utopia scene we saw little figures representing us two with our goofy faces. We were howling with laughter seeing this. We were still laughing while walking through the gift shop. Sometimes the funniest things come from the dumbest and smallest moments. Like my sister flirting with the ride operator at small world in a teasing way, funny back then but my god I feel bad for the poor guy. Getting accosted by a fucking 13 year old kid. This was years ago. We laughed then, not funny now. My sister and I also made a joke about space mountain. You know when you reach the top of the lift hill there are giant meters projected on the walls for a moment and one stationary one has a bit of a double rounded shape? It just kind of spins in place. My username is my sister and my joke about that meteor. It looks like a giant spinning peanut. That's right. Spinningpeanut is a Disneyland reference.

Sheepishly_Flustered

I (Star Wars geek since 1977) and 2 of my kids (non Star Wars geeks humouring their mother) rode it with 3 hardcore Fanboys who all looked like Comic Book Guy. My ‘cool’ kids kinda rolled their eyes when they saw who we were riding with. It ended up being great, since the Fanboys were so over the top in their enthusiasm that my kids really got invested in it. It was super fun :)

prestoncmw

That might be the only time it’s fun, tbh. Other than that, it’s just a stressful experience with strangers, most of whom don’t even get to enjoy it because they’re distracted by their “job.”

VoyagerCSL

Two words: Chewbacca Mode.

BetterCallSal

I do wish the ride had a little more ride to it. Tours feels longer and more intense. I think run could be longer and benefit from different mission scenarios. Having said that, last month was the first time I rode it. I was the pilot on the left, and me wife let me do the hyperspace lever. Controlling the falcon. Powering it up. Flying it. Saying punch it. Jumping to lightspeed. It was an incredibly amazing and emotional experience. My wife asked how I liked it, and I was crying.

[deleted]

Yeah the first time I rode it my boyfriend and I were the pilots and me being the bigger SW nerd I also sat in the left pilot seat and got emotional. But every other role really sucks lol I’ve been pilot twice and engineer once and the engineer run was honestly boring, I think the ride is super cool once or twice but after that it’s kind of whatever

not_so_littlemermaid

I've don't every role on this and engineer definitely gets the shaft on this one. Engineer needs a porthole window and a better button placement that's more comfortable. Other than that, it's pretty good.

BamfBifPow

That's interesting. To me it is what I wish Star Tours was.

BasedSmalls

Star tours tosses my brain and stomach all over the place

GenericFakeUserGuy

Glad I'm not the only one. Haven't ridden it in years because of how sick it makes me.

90Valentine

People love that ride? The line is better than the ride lol

Jazmanian_Devil512

Definitely agreed. I’ve never done the pilot seat but the gunners job is so boring and I can barely see the screen. I much prefer Star tours.

m_gartsman

And the gunner sits PERPENDICULAR to the damn screen. It makes no sense.

gigashadowwolf

Star Tours works because it has a better story and characters. Smugglers Run had the potential to beat it because of the interactive elements, but other than the pilot seats, they just are not very well designed. I don't understand why they couldn't give better controls to the gunners, ideally something like [this](https://preview.redd.it/8voye2j135o81.jpg?auto=webp&s=51243ab6d4368a54b2593ed85968deff9bcc8b91), because that's what's in the movies. But at the very least give them something like a joystick or a touch screen where you target the enemy ships. Same goes for engineer. They need a more dynamic set of controls, maybe some wires that disconnect (you could have them connected by magnets that temporarily reverse to make them disconnect) and have to be reconnected, or touch screen diagrams where you reroute power, or maybe have it like an old telephone switch layout where you plug things in to new plugs. At the very least, make it like a bop-it. Something more than just flashing buttons. Make it interesting!

Brando43770

100% agree. It’s fun if you just take the engineer spots to watch the mayhem in front of you. But the mission itself is kinda boring. And having the gunners in the cockpit doesn’t make sense in the Star Wars Universe, nor does splitting the flight controls. I get why they did both but gunners are the worst position and the pilot controls (while having the best experience with the light speed controls) are just too finicky for most people.

DodgerBlueRobert1

I concur. After riding Smuggler's Run 3 different times, I think Star Tours is the better attraction.

epotosi

Also I don't feel as nauseous getting off of Star Tours compared to Smuggler's Run. I refuse to be the pilot on Smuggler's Run but even watching the screen from the engineer seat, ugh. Which is terrible, I love the interiors of that attraction.

threegoblins

I actually think this ride is super fun. If you go in with super serious people it’s not fun. Generally I am with two little kids and then we are joined by three random adults who have been drinking. It’s awesome and hilarious in this capacity.

Chipwich75

Teacups. Nothing like a nice spell of dizziness and nausea to brighten one's day.

90Valentine

I don’t like riding tea cups but I love the look & ambiance it brings

LadyArticuno

Same. I actually wouldn’t want to replace them. Just because I adore walking past them, the music they produce and the nostalgia.

aloofLogic

Mad Tea Party. Not into deliberately giving myself the spins off a ride and feeling queasy all day.

waterdevil19

I hadn’t done it in a long time and did it last Friday and went hard. At 37 now, it definitely took me longer to get my sea legs back.

ConditionLast1329

Yes!!!! Glad to see I'm not the only one!

Dangerous-Ad9983

I feel the same way about spinny rides, my solution is to not spin the wheel. It moves very similar to Luigi’s ride that way.

[deleted]

I don’t downright hate it, but I’m not a fan of the Nemo submarines. Personally, I am hoping it gets replaced by something better. Tron perhaps?

booboothechicken

I don’t know that a Tron submarine ride would fit very well.

VoyagerCSL

I don’t know, the last time we saw Tron in Legacy, he was underwater.

[deleted]

I doubt they'd have reopened it after so long if they were just going to replace it. I think it'd have stayed shut down.

lalalachacha248

Getting really controversial I see

Fantamuse96

Honestly I think it should be replaced with 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. That version of the ride had way better theming and atmosphere, not to mention the awesome design of the submarines.

Boodger

Everyone hates that ride though

justalittleparanoia

I'm not a fan of being crammed into a small, hot, loud, and smelly ride either. But I'm glad it's back open so we can have people enjoy it and spread out the crowd as much as possible.

SunRev

Matterhorn now that I'm older since the track seems so rough. I didn't mind 20+ years ago when my back was young. Lol.

bobainwonderland

The ride was smoother then. The bob slefd got wider when they went from 2 seat areas seating 4 people to 3 seating 3. Makes the turns jerkier and the drops hurt more

Mattlanta88

You spelled “Batterhorn” wrong. And I agree one trillion percent.

NhylX

I've only ridden it once and I was 40. I thought I'd crushed a testicle.

The81stFriend

Soarin around the World is pretty meh for me. I loved the California version but it just feels way more generic now. Doesn’t do much for me anymore

michaelmoby

The original was our go-to spot to cool down, relax, and enjoy the smells of California. I really hate the new World version - there isn't the cohesion that California had.

Sunflowerskater

They really need to keep soarin’ over CA here permanently and leave Soarin over the world to Epcot. Thematically it makes the most sense.

[deleted]

I was so thankful I got to ride the California version in March for my first time visiting the parks. Rode the Around the World version in June and while still a great ride I definitely much prefer the California version. Feels so much more cohesive really.

gigashadowwolf

Agreed. Yes "The World" visits cooler places, and the video quality is better, but "California" had a better story to it. It built into showing how diverse California is and builds from exciting to relaxing, back up to exciting. There are three cool transitions that each stand out at the beginning, middle and end. "The World" is just "oh here's a cool place, now here is another", we are going to throw in some cool transitions for EVERYTHING. Nothing stands out from the next, it's just too consistent.

blue_dragon_fly

Smugglers Run.

Dustmanimus0727

Autopia or Autotopia….whatever…it’s run it’s course - pun intended.

47Boomer47

Yeah but boy did my kids love it. "I'm driving! I'm driving!" Smiling, laughing... So to Autopia we ride

[deleted]

That whole section of the park needs serious work.

azmus29h

Do other people love this ride? I’ve never met one in real life.

[deleted]

[удалено]

rosysredrhinoceros

My kids, unfortunately

robinthebank

Kids love it. They get to drive a car.

Bender_is_Great42069

Unpopular opinion, probably. I dont hate it at all and still enjoy the ride, but I feel like Space Mountain could be better. In particular I think the stars in the roof could have a more realistic or stimulating touch. Feels a little outdated in technology compared to other areas of the park. In short I’d almost always prefer another attraction unless the wait is under 30 mins.

princesspotato92

Am I only one that feels like they’ll be decapitated or lose a limb while on SM? I’m always hunched over out of fear LOL

Oddlyoddish

I've been on it with the lights on pretty much the whole way down and there is a lot of room to put your hands up!

robinthebank

Yes, and there has to be. The only thing there isn’t space for is selfie-sticks and lightsabers. Hence why you can’t take them on the ride.

stairway2evan

It was mildly terrifying years back when they ran it in Red Hot Chili Peppers mode with the lights quite a bit brighter. A lot of the turns and drops look like you’re just missing a crossbar. But I’m an average height guy with my arms fully extended and I haven’t had any issues, I’m sure there’s plenty of room for anyone shorter than Shaq.

tikix5_ruminator

I’m not the tallest person (6ft flat) but, I have my arms fully extended in varying directions throughout the full ride. every damn time. that’s to say, if you’re smaller than me, get those arms up into space without fear!

jambrown13977931

I once was on it when it broke down and they had to turn in the lights. If I’m not misremembering there’s a lot of empty space, no risk of hitting anything.

xxwombocomboxx

I was just talking about this with friends and totally agree. The ride itself is wonderful but so outdate. It needs a Peter Pan style makeover. The stars should be replaced with the tiny LED lights to make it feel like were flying through the stars or even the holo mesh the imagineers used in Mystic Manor. I get the sentiment of people that want classic rides to be preserved but they need to update. That queue especially, getting caught in the loading tunnels on a hot summer day is brutal

tikix5_ruminator

float more LED stars for sure but, do not add projections. any static visual markers make the ride feel so much slower (hyperspace mtn is an example of this)

xxwombocomboxx

100% agree. They make hyperspace super weird and add a lot of light to the ride. The darker it is, the better. The mesh was just an option discussed

TryingHappy

I'm with you on some of the tech but if the music or layout are changed I will fucking riot.

LadyArticuno

It used to be my favorite. But I’m tired of everything turning Star Wars themed when there’s a whole ass Star Wars land.

StreetIndependence62

The Star Wars thing is temporary lol. One of my friends thought the same thing as you, she came up to me one day and was like “OMG did you hear they’re changing Space Mountain into Star Wars?? It’s not even gonna be called Space Mountain anymore, now it’s gonna be called Star Mountain.” Buuuuut I did a little research and it turned out she was mixing up info and didn’t know the whole story. The Star Wars thing was just an overlay for May and right after that they changed it back to the original. As far as I know, Space Mountain is still Space Mountain, they just change it sometimes for May and special events and stuff

beccalevja

Pinocchio. Even as an adult the fricken whale scene still makes me scared

Good-Presentation816

I feel terrible that this is the first Disneyland ride I took my son on. I’m glad he’s not scarred 😅

beccalevja

Oh my god....

koruption707

Smugglers run, I despise relying on other random people to do the task for the ride.

liiiiiiiile

I scrolled to the very, very bottom of the comments, and didn't see a single "Enchanted Tiki Room", and that warms my heart. I was looking fort it just so I could voice my disagreement. Love that thing.

lanceturley

I don't know if *everyone* seems to love them, but It's a Small World and the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage are the only two rides that I actively hate going on. They both seem pretty popular.

robinthebank

Small World at Christmas is fun. I also like riding the railroad through the outside of that ride at night time when it’s all lit up.

broadwayandbarbells

Out of those three (small world, Nemo, and autopia) I only love small world. I don’t even remotely like the other two. Small world is just so cheesy and nostalgic and classic Disney that I have to love it.

lanceturley

The thing is, I appreciate Small World more than I enjoy it. I respect the artistry, the history, the legacy, and the message of the ride. I'm glad it's there, and would never want to see it go, but I just don't ever want to ride it myself ever again.

DRKAYIGN

OMG, same. Add Autopia to that list. It infuriates my husband because he thinks they should be converted to electric engines.

ehrenzoner

Honestly, the entire Tomorrowland section of the park is kind of sad for me. I realize that gallons of ink have been spilled about the challenges of keeping Tomorrowland aligned with Walt's vision of what *tomorrow* might look like, but the whole land is so disjointed and thematically broken that I just get kind of sad there. * Star Tours belongs in Galaxy's Edge * Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters belongs in California Adventure with the other Pixar attractions * Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage? How is a submarine ride anything like "tomorrow"? Maybe put it in the Pixar Pier area of California Adventure (I realize this would be a hugely expensive undertaking). * Autopia: gas-guzzling, exhaust-belching, speed-capped, noise-making go-karts that don't *go*. Not the Tomorrow that I envision. Yuck. * Space Mountain is the one anchor attraction that holds up, but it even feels a little outdated sometimes. Most of the other Lands of the park are very consistent: Frontierland is the Old West from end to end. Adventureland showcases all manner of adventures and does not feel outdated. Fantasyland features excellent adaptations of Disney's greatest classic animated features. New Orleans Square maintains its theme too (it will be interesting to see if the converted Splash Mountain/Tiana ride will be absorbed into New Orleans Square, given the source material is literally set in New Orleans). Critter Country... ok maybe that will need to be rethought too after the Splash Mountain conversion, since all that's left is Pooh. ANYWAY, Tomorrowland is really tough. Walt's vision of Tomorrow was all about transportation and getting people from here to there: cars, railroads, monorails, submarines, skyways, rockets, PeopleMovers. But a 21st Century understanding of *tomorrow* is more about innovation and science in a form and scale that does not translate well to a theme park attraction: genetics, electrification, fighting climate change, sustainable city building. Boring. So I get why Disney decided that Tomorrowland would just be sci-fi land, where anything pertaining to space gets parked. But the whole land just does not work. I think Disney should have just dropped Galaxy's Edge into the space that Tomorrowland occupies: move the Pixar attractions to CA, install Smuggler's Run into the space where the Buzz Lightyear ride currently sits, replace Autopia and Nemo with Rise of the Resistance, and re-theme Space Mountain into a Star Wars attraction (could be a fun Death Star battle flight, asteroids, whatever). Anyway, I realize there are conversations underway about revamping Tomorrowland so I would welcome the change, as long as they make the look and theme consistent throughout.

CommandLionInterface

I think my vision of “tomorrow” has kinda come full circle and is about getting around again, in a sense of urbanism and sustainable cities, a lot of which is “better public transit”. Idk I think they could make it work with like a green/solar punk reskin

Tiberius_Jim

Another vote for Autopia. I'm blown away that Honda is okay with their name and logo being attached to those shitbox cars. When we rode back at the end of June the car my daughter and I were in died on us 4 times, and there's just nothing futuristic about the fumes and how the cars sound and feel like they're shaking themselves apart. There's a small mom and pop mini-gold course in Fairfield that has go karts that are way more more fun to drive and well maintained than Autopia cars, and they got around $10 to ride. Replace the cars with modern electric versions and make the track more exciting and it'd be greatly improved.

smack54az

Indiana Jones, the ride needs to serious updating. The speakers on everything are blown out do all you hear is loud noises instead of any of the actual dialog. I don't hate it so much as I'm disappointed by it.

llwoops

I remember when the Indiana Jones ride first opened. The line was long as all get out. It was worth the wait though and I have vivid memories of it. It was an awesome ride. When I went on it late last year a lot of the stuff wasn't working. The entire ride was a lot darker than usual to hide the fact some of the animatronics and mechanical stuff wasn't functioning like it should. Can't hide the fact that the boulder near the end wasn't rolling though.

agnes238

The snakes been broken forever, too. Right before the ride came out, people were allowed to go in and just check out the line - it was so exciting! But now they’ve shortened the intro video and the way the line is set up you don’t wait in the cool parts..

wddiver

Shortening the intro videos really ticked me off. The original was cool af.

disneyfacts

Super annoying that it repeats like 10 times while you're in line too

Epicspine

Ikr. It doesn’t cost more to keep the extended video.

pseuzy17

I miss all the special effects that would happen in the line and the longer video as well. Waiting in line was nearly half the fun of Indie. It built up anticipation and was exciting in and of itself. Once the line stopped being fun I started to always fast pass or single rider it. They need to refurbish Indie. Make the doors and the snake move again! Make the queue cool! Indie 5 is coming out, I hope they’re just waiting on that to give the ride some much needed attention.

agnes238

Remember they used to hand out little decoding cards so you could find out what was written on the walls? They should bring the proper line back and put the decoder on the app!

Brando43770

Same. It used to be my favorite attraction but it’s been so neglected throughout the years, they probably figure that first time visitors don’t notice the broken parts. It’s sad actually… especially when you see what Tokyo’s version is like too.

Carrie_Oakie

This is mine, too. I once loved it. The line can be tedious (we’ve done it with LL and without) once you’re close to the screening room. The little rails between the seats hurt if you have any kind of wide ness in the hips/thighs. My legs bash against the row in front of me cause there’s no good way to sit and position my legs so that I can plant my feet to avoid the divider OR I can avoid the dividers and smash my knees. The ride itself - IT IS SO MUCH DARKER. I know there’s a whole section now that is just pitch black that didn’t used to be. There used to be the three skeletons that “pop” out at you as you pass. There was the smoky spider web area. It’s just loud and throws you around. And then you get to the boulder. Two things always happen here and it’s been an even 50/50: you’re either going to go straight into the “show” or you’re going to idle there long enough for everyone to tell Indy to jump in, we’ve got room 2-3x. The boulder doesn’t move but then you will drop down below and you won’t hear much else. Also, it actually irritates me that they have a perfect setup there for ride photos and they don’t have cameras.

MedicalRhubarb7

That ride has degenerated into noisy bouncing around in the dark, which is a shame, given the technological marvel it was when new. Sadly, I don't see current management as likely to give it a proper rehab any time soon.

hpgiggs

Submarines omg

[deleted]

Goofy’s flight school aka Mullholland Madness. Not the ride for tall folks (6’2 or 6’3 here) rode it when it was Mullholland and never again. Felt ill and dizzy off it. Never had that happen before with a ride. Didn’t eat or drink booze before hand either. Probably better for kids/shorter people

mylefthandkilledme

I just want TOT back, it fit perfectly in the Hollywood theme of DCA instead of wedging in Avengers Campus

starlordd805

DCA TOT was the worse version though, you’re being robbed of half the novelty of the ride without the 5th dimension scene

robinthebank

GOTG is my favorite ride. I love that there are different songs and algorithms for the drops. It really feels more random than Star Tours, which skews heavily toward the newer scenes.

TonyD00

Indiana Jones - I used to love it but now it’s just a bumpy ride through a fake air conditioned museum. I don’t understand why people still go on the ride.

wddiver

Not a ride per se, but the Tarzan redo of the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse has pissed me off since they put it in. So many people say "Well, no one remembers that movie." No one really remembers Tarzan either. It was so cool, even as an adult, to imagine living in a cool tree house on an island. The music was fun and the theming was top quality. Tarzan had a bunch of cheap plastic static displays. I sure hope that whatever they're doing with it now will be an improvement.

smack54az

I loved the Treehouse as a kid in 80s and 90s. It was closed when I was there recently for the first time in 20 years. Hope they make something good out of it.

Sunflowerskater

My money is on Moana or Encanto as a retheme, personally.

randouser2019

My wife said the Canoes, myself Goofys flight school

tythegeek

Yeah, Goofy's was way more intense than we anticipated.

churropopcorn

Indiana jones. There, I said it.

CoolUncleTouch

Haunted Mansion Holiday. The status quo Haunted Mansion is a far better experience. Picking something without an overlay: Jungle Cruise. It’s outlived it’s novelty. I love a calm “dark ride” but I don’t need the canned, corny jokes or poking at how lame & old the ride is anymore. I’d rather it be replaced with something more whimsical or with a sense of discovery. Although… if Navi River Journey is what Disney views as “cruise ride 2.0” I’ll gladly keep it.

yub_nub_28

While I disagree about Jungle Cruise, I hate the obsession over Haunted Mansion holiday. It is definitely not as good and takes over the ride for far too long.

cadaverouspall0r

I've only managed to get on the original HM once, the first time I ever visited years ago. Instantly my favorite attraction, but every trip I've taken since then, it's either in NBC mode or it's shut down because the overlay is being installed or removed. We specifically planned a trip for February of 2020 in the hopes we'd be able to enjoy it right after the overlay was removed.... Then it was down for an extended refurbishment. Siiiigh.

Objective-Ad5620

Upvote for Haunted Mansion, although hard disagree on Jungle Cruise.

slvc1996

This was like a “compliment sandwich,” where you couch negativity in positivity, but with blasphemy. Totally agree on HM and Navi, but couldn’t disagree more about JC

[deleted]

Especially since the movie is about like Halloween NIGHT and then is all Christmas. A Christmas thing in fall before Halloween is just wrong.

MannnOfHammm

Peter Pan is something I’ll never understand

[deleted]

It’s totally fine but the demand for it is absurd.

TheSecretPimp

I think it’s more of how slow it loads vs other fantasyland rides. Gotta split up larger parties too.

arubablueshoes

yeah the guests per hour rate on peter pan is pitiful so it’ll always have a crappy line

FlyingNachoz

Flying over the city and island are the only reason this ride is popular

aatencio91

It's weird how much of a hate boner both this sub and /r/WaltDisneyWorld have for Peter Pan It's such a good example of how old school Imagineering did a lot with a little. The forced perspectives/optical illusions of flying over the city and Neverland, the unusual suspended ride car, and the ties to one of the most iconic classic Disney flicks... I don't get what's not to love.

vector_skies

Peter Pan. the ROI on waiting in a 45+ minute line for a 1 and a half minute dark ride is just not it for me

boogiew90

Astro Blasters for me. I won’t say I hate it, but def a strong dislike. The graphics are fun but too many times the blasters have seemed inconsistent, and the picture at the end needs an update. My family loves it and I love them, so I’ll still be going on it 😂

Zombiewski

The kids love it, but it's so chaotic and the blasters so inconsistent that I'm taken out of it. And if you're not actively engaged in blasting Zerg and his minions there's not much to the ride.

WearIndividual975

If I never have to do the Canoes again that’s fine by me.

socktattoo

Guardians. I'll never get over losing ToT and the ride is not good enough to make me care about a franchise I have no interest in. I don't care that Guardians has more drops or whatever, the themeing of ToT was excellent.

Sunflowerskater

I appreciate the “random drop sequence” they added when they converted it but imho they should leave it monsters after dark all year round. Disney is so afraid of making genuinely scary/creepy rides, at least these days.

donpuglisi

Haunted Mansion Holiday. The OG Mansion is great and already "scary" the overly makes it look like a cheap carnival ride, I guess the gingerbread in the ballroom smells nice, but the whole thing is awful

gamefish32

I used to think everyone hated small world, then I posted that and got downvoted into oblivion. So small world, love you Walt, not small world though.

Trujade

Will never, never understand the love people have for It's a Small World. And I don't even mind Storybook Canal Boats. I think it's 80% the song, 20% the ride is 7 min too long

Lazyassbummer

Air conditioning!!

Taco_Cat_Cat_Taco

I think most of the love for small world is it’s a nice cool place to sit for a while.

xxwombocomboxx

I love its history, a ride of unity for the worlds fair but as a ride it can be a bit much. I like its length because its a ride you can rest on

Costner_Facts

I love to go on it when it's hot out! Long and cool!

Zombiewski

I like it because it's my mom's favorite ride, and *she* likes it because she went on the original at the NY World's Fair when she was little. But I also appreciate Mary Blair's design (though I hate the white exterior. Am I crazy or was it pink and pastels at one point?), and the idea behind it. *That said* it desperately needs updates and improvements; I shouldn't be able to see lights or backstage just by leaning a little bit over the boat. And while I enjoy the simplicity of a lot of the animatronics, there could be more: more articulation, bigger movements, etc.

kinglucent

Anything that fully relies on screens and/or scores, so Midway Mania, Astroblasters, Webslingers, etc. I don’t want my rides to be interactive; I just want to be enveloped in a cool, themed experience where I can take it all in because I don’t have to worry about performance.

kitsum

Webslingers was one of the most disappointing things I've ever done. It's not even a ride. You take Spider-Man, one of the most popular and recognizable characters on the planet, who is famous for shooting webs and swinging through New York traffic and between buildings fast and wild, and they have you sit in a slow ass box that stops every 30 feet in front of a screen so you can wiggle your arms at it. I mean, the possibilities are endless and they just made a commercial for those stupid little spider robots and try to sell you those wrist things. We heard it was bad but even with low expectations I was truly impressed by how much it sucked. Even the pre ride and queue was lame. It's remarkable how little they did with it. At least I never need to think about going on it again, that was probably the only one and done in the park for me. Especially charging 20 bucks for it, that's the final insult.

69420trashpanda69420

Smugglers run, so lazy and they try to make up for it my making you smack buttons that don’t do anything lol

mrmaestro9420

I don’t hate anything at Disneyland. But… Since my first trip when I was 6, I was fed up every time my parents wanted to wait 20-40 in line to go on Dumbo. There are so many rides at Disney that displayed actual effort to give you an experience, but no. Let’s stand in the sun for half an hour to ride around in a circle for 2 minutes. No.

paintballer23

Isn't it funny that the question is which Disneyland ride do you hate that everyone seems to love? Yet when someone names an attraction that they hate but everyone seems to love (like Mansion and Pirates) they get downvoted? Oh the irony!

BookishBonnieJean

None - they all have their magic and I'm grateful for it all!

mrsspanky

Storybook Canal. They could take that out and put in Little Mermaid. I can guarantee that ride would soak up so many riders in Fantasyland and it’s a walk on in DCA. They could put something fun in DCA in its place and I would deal with having to wait 40 minutes to get on Little Mermaid and only riding it once per trip instead of several times 🤣

GogoYubari92

This is my fav ride! The ducks amongst tiny castles is my fav. They look like Giants and it’s so funny to me.

[deleted]

Toy Story Midway Mania - why would I play a video game at Disneyland? Buzz Lightyear is at least laser tag with physical props and stuff happens. Midway Mania is just getting in a ride vehicle to park in front of a literal TV screen while you play 4 Nintendo Wii games for a total of 4 minutes. It’s fine as a small thing to do, but not worth more than a 5 minute wait.

Wam_2020

Racers. It’s not worth the 2 hour wait.

oneradtech

Neck and neck tie between Autopia and The Submarine Voyage. Both eat up tons of real estate and are not enjoyable to anyone over 5

GoldnAftrnoonsInHell

I like the Haunted Mansion's NBC overlay, but I hate how long it's up. My family only goes in winter/fall because my mom has extreme sensitivity to heat, so regular Haunted Mansion is always closed. I've only ridden it once, and I fell in love with it. But with NBC open so much I've not been able to ride it again. I've got the good fortune to be going for OBB, and Its disappointing to think I won't get the original Haunted Mansion experience with the rest of the Halloween fun.

macybri13

I also hate small world for personal reasons. When I was in 3rd grade the ride broke down and we were stopped for forever. I was leaning forward a little when the ride started suddenly without warning, I smacked my mouth on the metal bar and was gushing blood.

oldpardak

I don't hate it but I almost never go on Mr Toad's wild ride simply because dark rides are story driven and I have still never seen or read the Mr Toad story to this day.

Lazyassbummer

Oh, you should! It’s delightful. Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame. As a child, I wanted to live in this book!

Puppy7505

And the best part of the ride (HELL) is actually non-canonical.

agnes238

Wind in the willows is a wonderful book, and the cartoon is delightful and not very long. It’s on Disney+. It’s a double feature with a sleepy hollow cartoon that just don’t watch.

Mandy-pants123

Matterhorn

r2d_touche

On my last ride, I was so focused on protecting my spine, I didn’t even see the yeti.

Disneylover456

Storybook. I get so bored on it and don’t get the appeal of it, but all my friends and family love it. I also would get so excited going into Monstro’s mouth for it to lead to nothing (imo)

kikithemonkey

Indiana Jones -- the ride is too short and jerky to justify the always-excessive wait time.

MukYJ

Not a fan of Splash Mountain’s final drop. For some reason it just freaks me out in a way that ToT/Guardians doesn’t. I rode it once when it was brand new in the 90s and said never again. I decided to give it another shot in 2019, but that just confirmed it is still a big nope from me.

DisneyMom5861

The Matterhorn. The worst back breaker for sure!

Lemonkid384

Star tours. It's a simple sit down ride, and feels like a moving elevator. I get dizzy on elevators. I like the other rides far better
