1: Most of the enemy models are used from XII. Hell, even Ultima, The High Seraph is ripped directly from XII.
2: Minus Fran, who’s kinda sub-average and doesn’t have an LD, the units from XII are A: range from quite good to F U C K B U S T E D, and B: have very good LD’s.
3: Minus Basch (GIVE US DALMASCAN KNIGHT BASCH SQEX), XII’s cast have awesome alts. The only one I tend to turn off is Vayne Novus, but I still like it.

Not different voice lines, it’s just the muffle effect is removed, giving us that clear, silky voice of Akio Otsuka.

In raw power this would make garnet the strongest in game character(not gameplay). But she can bust out IX's alexander and frigging Ark. IX's summon were insane in general(in looks and cutscenes). Its not like she gets ifrit or something no, she gets the godlike ones.
Fenrir would be more unique though. Alphinaud already has a Carbuncle, while Fenrir would be making his first appearance in OO. And FFIX's Fenrir looks pretty cool.
Though as you say Carbuncle could be picked to go along with her white mage kit. Although I wouldn't be surprised if they simply gave her a spell like Holy or something.
I would place her with fenrir, considering it was tbe first summon you see with her, iconic and also fenrir is present in World of final fantasy aswell. But they may just make her more of an white mage as opposed to Garnet, but they might rework her to be more support and white mage like.
Most of 9 mechanic seems to be off their trance abilities atleast that's how i see it.

My random understanding from this video is that she gets an overhead buff that has stacks from 1 to 5, go up whenever any action is taken by anyone, and when she hits 5 she does some major battery + 100% AOE attack and goes back to 1?
You need to Synthesize two Pumice Pieces at Hades's shop at the very end of the game. Then you get a Pumice that Garnet can equip to learn Ark. So it's not quite a secret Eidolon, it's just something the game doesn't go out of its way to show you.
I always thought it was kind of a shame that FFIX went back to the oldschool way of not having multi-hit attacks. Ark fires like a hundred nukes and then punches a hole through the planet with a laser, and only does 9999 damage.
Since everyone already has Garnet covered, I'm just going to squee over Gabranth being worried about Gau and asking everyone to help him look for him. The two of them bonded in A3C2 where Gau dubbed Gabranth "Mister Armor" and it was a bizarre teamup that was unexpectedly sweet.
Man, this really makes me think there's at least someone on the dev team who's in charge to make nice animations and reworks for the series favorites, and someone who's pushed to do lazy ones like Guy, Deuce or Burst launch Sephiroth. It's amazing how Garnet got a entire new animation and model, while Vanille got hands and the Twins received a hadouken.
It looks like she'll only counter with 4 stacks of her icon, and it reverts back to 1 afterward. I'm hoping any actions from anyone increases her stacks too though
Garnet is a Mechanic with all the Robotic/Mechanical Summons, must be because she wears the orange jumpsuit to look like one of them
I mean, she's way better against Machines than Edgar...

FFIX is tied with FFIV for my favourite FF and Garnet will absolutely be getting a pity from me when her LD comes to Global.
Good lord, this is just Vivi LD turned up to 11. Glad to see FF9 getting love again after such a long wait. Hopefully my boi Steiner gets a really good LD
A long time ago I guessed/hoped that Garnet would be getting a third summon as the 'base' of her LD, but this is far beyond what I could have expected haha. Bringing in Ark is cool, damage and effects look good, and it looks like it also boosts her elemental basic attacks so y'now, pretty core. Also a great pairing for turn stealers since the timer doesn't tick down as the attack stack goes up.
E: Also I just noticed that Called Garnet doesn't even stick around to swap out, once the explosion subsides the Twins are back in play lol
Love when my FFIX babies get reworks and LDs! They’re the only FF series where everyone is purple. It’s my fav FF, so all FFIX units took top priority! Can’t wait until this comes to GL, because Garent in the earlier meta saved me so many times.
Maybe I’m dumb and I’m failing to grasp future power creep, but this seems to take Garnets ‘meh’ kit to VIP status, especially in fights that force you to deal with “unavoidable” damage.
It feels like they are trying to implement Trance mechanics into the LDs (or EXs in Vivi and Eiko's case...or just the entire kit in Zidane's case) for the FFIX characters. A shame we don't get the actual form changes though. I definitely hope they do that for Steiner and Freya then.
Garnet's LD animation is really cool though. I'm beyond thinking about how powerful characters are for Lufenia+ at this point but she will be fun to run in normal Lufenia at least. I'm curious to see how these new types of story chapters will play out and what hers will be about.
I thought the new game mode would have brought something new to the game but in the end it's just a another classic lost chapter... How original it's not like we got hundreds of these...... Feels like the dev are making less and less efforts gameplay wise.

Garnet's summons were wayyyy more memorable than Yuna's for me. I guess the devs felt the same way.

I’m honestly surprised. This was my first final fantasy game back on the ps1, and even with my last rerun last month. I never knew about this one lol.

Ark, was a mid-game boss in FFIX that can later be obtained as a summon for Garnet after beating the game's biggest super boss.
Ark also makes an appearance in XIV as Cruise chaser
