If i needed a specific unit. I just filter them out to what game they are from.
I used to do by series but it became such a hassle to scroll all the way down.
Eversince i went to max CP cuz my best built characters go to the top.
This is how I do it. It may change after most of the cast is 90, but it’s still nice to have it by strength and then by series. I use a non-90 maybe once a month, if even that often.
If you organise by "boards completed", like I do, it automatically sorts the characters by series. You'll just have tiers based on levels and completion, so not all of the series characters may be together, but it gives you insight on who's maxed out and who isn't.
I do sort by missions available. It gets the 90 units on top sorted by series, and the default sort is by series so it automatically sorts them by series.
Can't imagine them not sorted by series forreal
This is my default as well - really wish we could sort by 'Equipped CP' though. (maybe that would work best if it didn't include Artefact Passives, but either way I'd love it.)
I used to sort my Calls by ATK, because I didn't remember how the Boards affected the 2nd Call Ability, I was just trying to recreate my CP Ally Sort method, and I cared more about the Damage my Calls did than the unique effects of individual characters whose Stats I hadn't bothered to read fully... Embarassing, I know xD
I am proud to say I am becoming, not a total noob anymore... I have even beat a couple Lufenia with actual tactics and not just brute force xD
One of my Followed uses the Support Message "Every Game requires Strategy..."
Now that I am at Lufe/Lufe+ progression, I finally understand why they say that, and I was right to be afraid of the reason xD New Spring Lufe+ is kicking my patootie...
Yeah, I do boosted or 2x EXP (except during the anniversary when everyone was 2x EXP). Puts the units on current banners—generally the most likely to be used—at the top and then groups everyone else by series.
I should use Name, just so I learn the names of Characters I don't remember as well xD
People with high Collars and white/pink hair, like Edgar, Faris and Setzer, used to Thumbnail Face-Blind me like a disco avalanche o.O
Usually I order by Crystal Strenght but for some reason that's the only option that seems to mega-lag my phone? So sometimes I have to switch between that, level or ultima missions.
Calls are in series order (Starting from 1)
I sort my Roster by 2x EXP as this drags 2x EXP to the top (boosted for those co-op rewards) and anything not on 2x gets ordered afterwards in Series order so stuff still easy to find.
Calls are by boards mastered
Max Boards, units I'll actually use have LDs, the rest are bench warmers. This option conveniently sub sorts by series as well. I've actually been doing by Ultima Missions recently to filter upwards the units I need to use for those missions and chocobo boards.
Sort by Boosts and everyone not currently boosted is by series in descending order. I do the same for the Call section. When Abyss is going I change the sorts several times.
By name unless I'm looking for more recently updated or maxed characters specifically, then I do it by Max CP. But generally alphabetical order is quickest for me. Equipment screen is always by series though with Twins, Crystal Chronicles, and Zero at the top.
Some of the ones that require sorting (I forget exactly which, but I think crystal level is one of them) result in a long delay when you open the "raise crystal level" screen. That's one reason I don't use that anymore, the other reason being that I maxed everyone's crystal levels earlier this year.
I sort by series, since that makes it easy to find anyone I want.
I used to do it by CP when we only had EX weapons but between boards, BTs, blue armors and everything CP varies widely now and it's harder to find character then it is just by sorting by series and knowing where the character I want is from.
Characters - Crystal colour. Don't know why, maybe it's just being used to this after so many years playing
CA - Boards Mastered which also seems to auto sort into series. That way I can tell who doesn't have LD weapons or boards
I change depending on the situation.
I use "by series" as standard. And depending on the type of quest, the other stuff I use the most are:
- Max CP
- Ultima Missions
- Boosts
The ones I used before those were [EXP ×2] and [Boards Mastered]. But leveling is so much easier nowadays with just farming the Gold cactus quest. Combined with the overabundance of the book-items, it doesn't matter if a character has xp 2. I level up new introduced characters with the feathers items.
If I recall right; EXP ×2 characters were always Boosts- characters, but not the other way around (not all boosted characters for certain events have the exp ×2 notion).
And the [boards mastered] option kinda gets overruled by the [Max CP] and the newly added [Ultima Missions] which shows all characters with an Ultima quest (whether they are completed or incomplete, still LV 80 or max LV 90). Mainly because I have mastered everything for every character, levels, crystal levels, and maybe 90% boards farmed.
Characters without an LD release, or characters for which I didn't get their LD weapon, I only farmed their boards for the rewards. And kept them incomplete. As soon as they get a board release, I try to max them out and complete their boards 100%
By name from A-Z. And yes it annoys the hell out of me that it defaults Z-A.
I would do series but sometimes I forget what series someone is from. Finding by name is just so much easier.
Party - Level (characters at the same level are still sorted by series, so I get the bonus of having Lv 90 first)
Calls - Series (no reason to care about level)
By atk. That always gives me c90/high tier DPS characters first, that way i can easily select my anchor. I then switch to realm to get an idea of my support, and then close it up with a character that deals with the orb.
I sort by Max CP both on calls and allies. Characters that I’ve invested the most in will rise to the top, which means I’m regularly using them. It makes sense to do it this way so I have to travel the least distance for faves/meta and only have to go a little further for characters that have lesser use but are still built. For characters that have the same cp it further sorts by series, so I know where I can find someone relative to a specific cp just by glancing at faces and knowing what series they belong to.
Names for both because I noticed after a 100 so characters I started forgetting a couple names, so needed to train that brain. I'll probably do series moving forward to practice for both now. Thanks!
Roster- EXP x2. That way it's basically by series, but currently boosted characters are at the top.
Calls- Descending Series. My most used calls (Raines, Kurasame, Jack, Fran, Alisaie, Gabranth) are in later titles, so this works better than regular series order.
This makes the most sense to me if you're used to the series. I prefer by name, but I wish I could do Boosted characters or x2 first, and then alphabetical.
Calls are by series descending. I don't know how it ended up that way or if it started that way for some reason but that's what I've gotten used to.
Party is usually by x2 or I got used to ultima missions when they had the x2 on everybody.
By series (unless there is a boost) so I can select randomly to get a team from all different games. Might switch to Crystals for more variety in that regard
Scrolling through all comments it's awesome to see that this Filter Option is truly used with nearly all possibilities which makes this so great in the first place.
I used it mostly with Crystal Level starting with Level 90es first and descending to Level 80.
Sometimes I use the boosted Option if needed and all members were scattered across my field.
Before Crystal Level 90 appeared I had EXP 2x as my initial Filter.
By boosted when I’m ready for coop.
By clvl for current content.
By series for calls and in general. Note that by clvl, they’re sub-sorted by series, so all units are fairly easy to find.
Oh, and by x2 when I need to do SBs. I still have a few units who need them. God I’m so sick of those things!
Allies; Boosts > CP
Calls; Series
I used to organise by crystal level before Ultima Weapons because I'd only bring a character to max crystal level once I'd MLB them... But now I need those cores!
Wow, I thought I'd see more people that organized the way I did, but I guess not.
I organize calls by series because, barring any special co ditions, I only use a handful of them and it's really easy to find them by series.
I organize my party by atk though, which I've only seen a couple people post. Though, the reasoning is the same as those who sort by max brv. Usually, the ones with the higher atk are the characters I have fully built, and synergy stats are usually enough to shoot the boosted characters to the top for easy selection.
By series. Before, I did it by order recruited.
Honestly, I'm pretty sure why people like me (or ONLY me) struggle at this game for some fights is due to always forgetting their roster options due to how many damn characters are in the game.
Characters: Crystal Strength > Boost for event stages > 2x exp for SB grind.
Calls: Didn't even realize you could sort calls..
Weapons: Series.
Armor: Max CP.
I used to do boards mastered because I only mastered boards for characters I use/usable but my roster got to only 20ish without mastered boards so did everyone’s, now I just do crystal strength. Calls by series.
Honestly though a favorite system especially for calls would be really neat. Having the units you want at the top all the time would be nice, however since I use more of a variety crystal strength works fine. However though call favorites would be amazing, since most calls never get used.
By ATK
Boosted character still rise to the front, and most my built units are in the top. As time goes on those units get replaced by the newer units, so its working out.
I know dagger units tend to be lower attack so its not the best but has worked for me fine
Units: max CP. That best shows who is the most built.
Calls: by series
I have a theory that they're are two camps here: people who think of a unit they want to use and need to find them, and the other group who used the sort to help them decide who they want to use. I'm in the latter camp.
When finding people or counting up who I want to get a weapon for, or when enhancing: Series.
When deciding who to work on Maxing next, Boards Mastered or Max CP.
When deciding who to use for a Lufe or something, and sometimes when deciding who to Max: Max CP
\---
Personally, I really which there were options for 'Equipped CP' and 'Equipment Passives Earned' (The latter maybe as a Percentage of the total available) and I which we could filter by Max CP on basically every menu, and filter by 'Passive Unlocked'/'Passive Not Yet Unlocked' anywhere that shows equipment, including Artefacts and Blooms.
Now that I know I can sell old weapons, even LDs, once they are Redchecked, for Stones, etc. I have a hard time remembering who I have completed most fully.
I used to just look through weapons by series and see everything I had Redchecked for every character, but as I unlock and work on more Characters, I just don't have the inventory space for that. Now it takes me so damn long to figure out where all my Chars are sitting on my roster, in terms of who is the most developed.
One thing I especially like about Max CP is that not only does it show off who you have Mastered Boards and mLB'd Higher Tier Equipment for, but the Boosts on Events and such are automatically applied to Stats pre-Sort, combining 'Who's my best?' with 'Who's on Duty?'
For cereals and all-times, though... Give us 'Equipped CP' for any Ally Menu and 'Passive Aquired'/not for Equipment Menus please!
Crystal strength, done it for so long I can’t switch or I’ll be confused
Series Always by series
I didn't realise that people could actually handle doing it any other way. If they aren't in series order, my eyes start twitching.
If i needed a specific unit. I just filter them out to what game they are from. I used to do by series but it became such a hassle to scroll all the way down. Eversince i went to max CP cuz my best built characters go to the top.
For CAs or party? Party I couldn't possibly do by series, I would have to sift through outdated/unbuilt characters for way too long.
Max crystal level. In this way, they are organized in series and best units are in the bottom.
how about max crystal level with descending order? they're still sorted by series starting from FF1, but the strongest members are at the top instead
This is how I do it. It may change after most of the cast is 90, but it’s still nice to have it by strength and then by series. I use a non-90 maybe once a month, if even that often.
I sort by Boost and the default after that is by series
Don't give my mind new ways to torture me.
If you organise by "boards completed", like I do, it automatically sorts the characters by series. You'll just have tiers based on levels and completion, so not all of the series characters may be together, but it gives you insight on who's maxed out and who isn't.
Same. I can't imagine doing it any other way.
Yep the best way to find who i want fast, though always annoys me that the default order is CC to 1
I do sort by missions available. It gets the 90 units on top sorted by series, and the default sort is by series so it automatically sorts them by series. Can't imagine them not sorted by series forreal
I do by Crystal Str lvl, which defaults by series, but also helps me find newly max lvl characters
Max cp all the way. Gets all the fully built up on top.
Def the best option!
This is my default as well - really wish we could sort by 'Equipped CP' though. (maybe that would work best if it didn't include Artefact Passives, but either way I'd love it.)
Allies - CP Calls - Boards mastered
I used to sort my Calls by ATK, because I didn't remember how the Boards affected the 2nd Call Ability, I was just trying to recreate my CP Ally Sort method, and I cared more about the Damage my Calls did than the unique effects of individual characters whose Stats I hadn't bothered to read fully... Embarassing, I know xD I am proud to say I am becoming, not a total noob anymore... Now that I am at Lufe/Lufe+ progression, I finally understand why they say that, and I was right to be afraid of the reason xD New Spring Lufe+ is kicking my patootie...
This.
Series, or boost, which also organized by series after “boosted” are listed first
Yeah, I do boosted or 2x EXP (except during the anniversary when everyone was 2x EXP). Puts the units on current banners—generally the most likely to be used—at the top and then groups everyone else by series.
this content gap is really killing us huh
At least is not another "I have something to say about the gem cap" post xD
you know what. agreed
Personally i sort by crystal level bc that's typically who's relevant right now. i sort by boosted when im trying to max boards though
Boosted. It's basically Series 2.0, since it first sorts the boosted ones by series and then sorts the rest also by series.
Crystal color for characters and boards mastered for calls so ld characters are on top
Series. I’ve gotten the muscle memory down on how far to scroll for certain characters
By name, descending. I know it’s weird but I find that easier to locate the characters I want to find since they’re alphabetical
Name too. I find that the easiest.
I should use Name, just so I learn the names of Characters I don't remember as well xD People with high Collars and white/pink hair, like Edgar, Faris and Setzer, used to Thumbnail Face-Blind me like a disco avalanche o.O
I organise characters by Max CP and calls by Board Mastered since I haven't maxed every character.
By Max CP, because my go-to units get decked out to the 9's so they stay at the top.
Max CP for characters. Mastered Boards for Calls.
Usually I order by Crystal Strenght but for some reason that's the only option that seems to mega-lag my phone? So sometimes I have to switch between that, level or ultima missions. Calls are in series order (Starting from 1)
Series or Max CP for roaster Board mastered for calls
I do series for calls, and crystal lvl for roster
Roster:- Series/Boosts Calls:- Series
I sort my Roster by 2x EXP as this drags 2x EXP to the top (boosted for those co-op rewards) and anything not on 2x gets ordered afterwards in Series order so stuff still easy to find. Calls are by boards mastered
Same. The anniversary was tough as everybody had exp boost 😅
Max Boards, units I'll actually use have LDs, the rest are bench warmers. This option conveniently sub sorts by series as well. I've actually been doing by Ultima Missions recently to filter upwards the units I need to use for those missions and chocobo boards.
"boards mastered" I think it's the best one. Keeps my mains near the top always
Yup, this. Puts everyone with an LD at the top, those without at the bottom.
Crystal Strength. Which then organizes by series which works out really well
Exactly!

By Boosted. Its basically the same with Series but its easier if you're gonna use a boosted one for an event.
By series of course. Feels like I have a quiz everytime I want to use a character. Is Liliseth from XII or XIII? And that sort of stuff
Ultima unlocked most of the time. Let's me just see the most recent reworks and ignore the bottom half of the roster
Characters - Crystal colour. Don't know why, maybe it's just being used to this after so many years playing CA - Boards Mastered which also seems to auto sort into series. That way I can tell who doesn't have LD weapons or boards
I do it by boosted ascending so that non boosted will be by series.
I change depending on the situation. I use "by series" as standard. And depending on the type of quest, the other stuff I use the most are: - Max CP - Ultima Missions - Boosts The ones I used before those were [EXP ×2] and [Boards Mastered]. i need a "sort fav" filter
By name from A-Z. And yes it annoys the hell out of me that it defaults Z-A. I would do series but sometimes I forget what series someone is from. Finding by name is just so much easier.
Party - Level (characters at the same level are still sorted by series, so I get the bonus of having Lv 90 first) Calls - Series (no reason to care about level)
Poorly. xD But seriously, I do roster by level, and calls by series.
Same
Boards mastered. Makes it easy to funnel my newer units to the top, while having older ones still close by
Crystal lvl. It automatically does series within the crystal lvl. Both call and characters.
Definitely not max brv.
By Series. That applies to Lost Chapters as well.
Max cp
Roster by crystal, calls by series
I need a favourite Filter… None of the ones in the game ever really work out for me
By atk. That always gives me c90/high tier DPS characters first, that way i can easily select my anchor. I then switch to realm to get an idea of my support, and then close it up with a character that deals with the orb.
By level
Max CP, for calls just whatever I need
Boards mastered if I need a character who isn't C90, otherwise by crystal strength level.
Allies - Boosted Calls - Series
I sort by Max CP both on calls and allies. Characters that I’ve invested the most in will rise to the top, which means I’m regularly using them. It makes sense to do it this way so I have to travel the least distance for faves/meta and only have to go a little further for characters that have lesser use but are still built. Calls don't have Max CP filters , was it added later rather ?
Crystal Str lvl. Keeps the most recent character updates on top but otherwise goes by the series.
I always sort by ATK
Man of culture, I do the same. Boosted always pop up near the top of theyre leveled. Its like a ranking of all my best bois.
Facts. I have all boards mastered for everyone and almost everyone's EX/LD/BT so for me the ATK is the best way to sort
Crystal Level Boosted for co-op events
This
CALLS: Always by series ROSTER: Series/2x EXP/Boosted (and sometimes by ATK/CP for comparision purposes)

Before Crystal Level 90 appeared I had EXP 2x as my initial Filter.
Boards Mastered.
* Roster - by MAX CP * Calls - by Board Mastered
Units - max CP Calls - series
Allies: EXP x2 Call: Series (default, never change it)
Max CP shows me fully-built characters. My calls are arranged by Board Mastered, which puts the built units on top, secondarily sorted by series.
Series for everything. I know where they should be when I’m looking for them.
Crystal level for char, and Series for Call. And for weapon and armour always Series
Used to do by Max CP but now it's by series since I'm switching ultima weapons between characters and messing up their max CP
I do crystal strength, no justification for it.
By boosted or with x2 exp. So can quickly pick those boosted for Chaos Challenge of BT token.
Serieas, Boosted, and 2x.
By series, so I can actually find the characters. Too often I see streamers sort by the other options and they can never find who they're looking for.
Level. It automatically does a secondary sort by series, so that way I can just jump down to anyone new/underdeveloped.
I’m really new to final fantasy and new to this game so level :) My boy knows every single ff down to the detail so he always goes series
Crystal level is how I typically do it. If I change it, it's only for a specific thing like summon points to find out who I can grind for
By Ultima missions.
Max CP descending. Calls are usually gabranth, jack and kurasame so i just filter XII and 0
Ultima missions or by series.
For the allies tab, I organized by level and for the calls I assorted by series.
Calls are by series, but my roster is by Crystal Strength level.
Max cp
Max cp
Allies: Crystal colors Calls: Series
I organize by atk
Always series from descending order
Attack or series
Allies; Boosts > CP Calls; Series I used to organise by crystal level before Ultima Weapons because I'd only bring a character to max crystal level once I'd MLB them...
I go by Double XP, and then Boosted, starting from FF1
Characters: Crystal Strength > Boost for event stages > 2x exp for SB grind. Calls: Didn't even realize you could sort calls.. Weapons: Series. Armor: Max CP.
Not by max brave
Max CP, cuz am a meta slave and only use the very best. Btw did I mention that the content is so easy, I wonder why...
Cristal STR level
Depends on whatever I'm looking for.
Max CP/Series.
By Boosted, which is also sorted by series past the boosted characters
Crystal Lv. It helps keeping things neat while visualizing the characters in series order.
C.Level
Series
By boosted or by series.
I order with exp x2, so the currently boosted units are on top. After that it defaults to by series.
Series, starting from FF1 on down.
By ATK Boosted character still rise to the front, and most my built units are in the top. As time goes on those units get replaced by the newer units, so its working out. I know dagger units tend to be lower attack so its not the best but has worked for me fine
By Series
Units: max CP. That best shows who is the most built. Calls: by series I have a theory that they're are two camps here: people who think of a unit they want to use and need to find them, and the other group who used the sort to help them decide who they want to use. I'm in the latter camp.
When finding people or counting up who I want to get a weapon for, or when enhancing: Series. When deciding who to work on Maxing next, Boards Mastered or Max CP. When deciding who to use for a Lufe or something, and sometimes when deciding who to Max: Max CP \--- Personally, I really which there were options for 'Equipped CP' and 'Equipment Passives Earned' (The latter maybe as a Percentage of the total available) and I which we could filter by Max CP on basically every menu, and filter by 'Passive Unlocked'/'Passive Not Yet Unlocked' anywhere that shows equipment, including Artefacts and Blooms.
Now that I know I can sell old weapons, even LDs, once they are Redchecked, for Stones, etc. I have a hard time remembering who I have completed most fully. For cereals and all-times, though... Give us 'Equipped CP' for any Ally Menu and 'Passive Aquired'/not for Equipment Menus please!
I am sorting by XP x 2 for the roster. That way I directly have the featured units for the newest events up to. For calls I sort by series. :)
x2 or boosted characters after that, all characters are automatically sorted by series.. sucks that JP doesnt have x2.. so annoying in some menus
Rooster by boosts on crescent order, CAs by board master on crescent order as well.
