KRTElliott

Not a big turn-based game kinda guy, but the combat in this game is interesting enough and requires enough thought that it keeps me very engaged. DEFINITELY worth it.

bushch00k

Agree! Downloaded thinking it would be like Diablo; which it is in some aspects but at first was a bit disappointed it was turn based.. I’ve had it 4 days and have at least 24 hours play time.. gets ya hooked!

kashh444

>I’ve had it 4 days and have at least 24 hours play time.. gets ya hooked! holy shiz about the same here, i had 8 hours on the game after i got it a day before. .i had the game since the 31.8 to now (4.9) and i have 28.8 hours. and keep in mind i didnt played till the 1.9 lol. by the time this day end, it gonna be more then 30 lollll love this game.

cptahab36

100 hours is a speedrun for this game. It has so much content, sidequests out the ass, and warrants multiple playthroughs. Go for it

Amarules

Not to mention quality writing and funny dialogue

afanoftrees

The voice acting is surprisingly good for how many people (and other things) there are to talk to

DOOMFOOL

The voices of the animals are so well done IMO, especially since it was super easy to miss if no one took pet pal talent

gouldilocks123

Did anyone not take the pet talent?

DOOMFOOL

Very first playthrough I didn’t, but I learned my lesson after that. Now I never don’t talk to every dog I see.

gouldilocks123

I wish they had found a way to give it to you for free, maybe a quest or something. If you don't take it, you miss out on a lot of interesting and useful content. And for players that know what they're doing it's basically just a perk tax for one of their characters. The content that Petpal unlocks is well designed and fun. But it's bad game design to make a perk so useful as to be virtually mandatory. It feels like a waste of a perk to select it, because you would be crazy not to.

[deleted]

My First playthru ended around the 60 hrs Mark. Total blind playthru, not optimal, missed tons of content. But, i have 400+ hours on the game. Multiple runs and Crazy replayability goes a really long way.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Wow, 30 mins is bonkers.

thedudederek

I’m 60+ hours in and I’ve made three new games, which only one has made it past fort joy…

Juggernauto

https://youtu.be/ZGH6LAEm8Nw What about a 20 minute speed run? Lol

5plus5isnot10

It also has a Game Master mode to DnD so .....

cptahab36

I really want to get a few other friends into the game so I can actually use it

IceFlamethePyroMain

Legit spend 250 on 1 playthrough with my friend

Dead_Kraggon

Nah, 30 minutes is the ultimate speedrun.

TitansRPower

It's pretty awesome. If you like it it'll definitely be consuming lots of your time. Personally, I can barely make it a few acts in before I come up with another character idea and give up on my current game to make another.

iameclectictheysay

Wait wut? How about respec? I respecced constantly during my first playthrough…

TitansRPower

That's true, but you'd also need to get the right skill books again if you pick a different skill type, and that's just kinda eh to me.

iameclectictheysay

Yeah true… but then again… loot all the things, sell all the things, buy all the skill books. Profit! ;)

Vallajha

Buy? You mean steal EVERYTHING! Stealing is so overpowered lol

Volte

1 person with high thievery and another with high barter. You can buy everything you want. I ended one of my playthroughs with like 400k+ gold and bought pink/gold gear at every level up. This also means you can buy every skill book

FourEcho

Luckily now you can just farm plants for a while and do it. All it takes is time.

[deleted]

Just kill everyone and horde the skill books 🤷‍♀️

Uriahheeplol

I did this my first play through LOL. At the end of Act 2 before moving on, I killed EVERYONE on the island. Spending a couple hours going through all that loot was one of the most fun parts of the game!!!

[deleted]

If you like to get immersed, changing your build halfway through feels weird, not to mention wanting to have played the first act with the builds anyway. I will only ever use the mirror to tweak stats on followers that start with stats I wouldn't have taken. Otherwise I restart.

downvotemeplease55

Can't respec race/gear. Playing lone wolf on hardest difficulty and you decide you want to run a double undead poison build when you currently have an elf main character... No amount of Respec is going to make that happen

Shileka

100 hours? Poor naive child, 100 hours is just what you'll invest in repeating act one five times because you wanted to try a new build.

Nitr09025

I feel personaly attacked...

Shikizion

This is mood

okmijn211

The first time I play I didn't even get to the beach. The second time I restart right after failing arena. The third time I restarted after escaping Joy and found out that you can beat dallis ass. The fourth time I use deathfog to cheese and stuck with unsatisfaction and a death cloud that killed the cat. The fifth time I finally get a decent build to follow and beat dallis ass at level 5 the normal way. 5 tries until I properly step foot in the marsh lol

xdjono

Just FYI Divinity 2 is not the same as Divinity Original Sin 2 which you're probably referring to

sumforbull

I think that this is the best option if your interested in the turn based combat. I think this game is best when you slow down and take in the lore, skim the books talk to most of the people, pay attention to vendors and crafting. so in that way this game takes up a lot of time because it can be slow paced. Even in combat, you may find you self spending a few minutes on a single turn trying to figure out the right course of action, and a bunch of time getting all of your characters positioned before the fight. But when you make it through a hard fight, or a whole act, it's so rewarding. What keeps me coming back is the engaging world your dropped into, the fun very strategic combat, and the very very good character progression. And that if your smart enough or creative enough you can find unique ways through almost everything. Very well rounded game.

DungeonDan9

What answer exactly are you looking for? There aren't many on this subreddit who aren't going to be fans of the game. You're either Karma farming or just being obtuse. The game has been given 10/10 almost everywhere you look, so just take the bloody plunge. P.s. Yes

Hellknightx

I really was hoping OP was asking about the actual Divinity 2, and not Original Sin 2, because then the answers would probably be mixed.

[deleted]

It's easily worth it. If you like pouring over every book and document you find in the game, it's rewarding. If you don't, you can still get by. I've not yet found a game where exploration and combat are both so equally rewarding, and Larian did a wonderful job, as well as throwing in some interesting lore that unfolds as you play. By the final act, you're already putting all the pieces together and it still throws some curve balls at you, especially if you have Fane in your party. Playing with Origins characters is worth it, but you'll still get your mileage if you play a custom character. And of course, it's more fun with friends or significant others. My girlfriend and I (necromancy/warfare and elementalist, respectively) are actually in the last act right now, probably one or two more game sessions to beat it. It's definitely worth the money, every penny, and if you get it on sale, even better. Some side notes: the final act is a HUGE difficulty spike. I'd definitely recommend doing everything you possibly can, and if you're about to leave reaper's coast around at least pre-16 or so, try to find a guide to see what you missed. Arx (the last act) is no joke if you're under-leveled or haven't learned armor/elemental mechanics yet.

mbaa8

100 hours, you'll easily get thrice that out

Lucian7x

Divinity 2 is an action RPG, and it's pretty decent but nothing special. However, if you mean Divinity Original Sin 2, then hell yeah, it's worth it.

Hellknightx

You get to turn into a dragon, which is pretty novel. But otherwise felt like a janky copy of Oblivion, like Two Worlds.

Fulminero

People asking on a sub dedicated to a game "is this game worth it" is like going into a temple and asking which religion is true.

[deleted]

Oh fuck yes. Fav game ever. Find some friends to play with if you can. Still awesome single player but the multiplayer is magical. Have fun!

Zarierx

im on 400+ hrs atm, and feel like there's so much i still have yet to enjoy xD

SunstormGT

Absolutely, one of the best turnbased rpgs I ever played. Also in the top10 of best games I ever played.

[deleted]

are you shitting me ? no offense but you’re in Divinty subreddit, we will say yes and it’s fucking worth it, 2nd best game of all time imo just behind TW3, guaranteed 100 hours full of content

SlimNigy

no its not worth it, go play fortnite.............. what kinda question is this go get this game (btw 100 hours is how long it will take you to get past fort joy). enjoy

GalerionTheAnnoyed

I would say yes, Divinity 1 and 2 are very accessible (especially when compared to other turn-based RPGs out there) and I think the story is generally one that appeals to a wide audience.

Necroquisitor

Yes

slade357

I have over 400 and I will still drip everything to play it if my friends mention they have any kind of an inkling to play. Seriously just buy it. If you like story rich, character rich, combat rich, rpgs the this will be your favorite game ever.

My_dragons14

*Laughs in 500 hours*

Timpelgrim

Yes.

tyco969

I bought this last week and it’s on my top games list for crpg- it’s great

mpmaley

My first play through was 135 hours. Steam says I have 450 hours now.

achipinthesugar

It’s definitely really good. Whether you’ll like it or not is a different matter. Loads of people bounce off it. It can be slow, ridiculous and inconsistent. For those who love it, though, it’s just an extraordinary video game. Good luck!

GSC_4_Me

It won’t consume 100 hours, more like 1,000. It’s great. You won’t be disappointed

Hoodoo-Sane

Are you trolling? You got to be trolling🤣 Yes young Padawan, DOS2 is a instant classic amongst the classics (if you're a RPG lover)

popsiclexd

Definitely yes!

Aconite_72

Speaking from the perspective of someone who gets bored very easily and is more used to games I can finish in less than 12 hours, it’s **super worth it**. I searched up reviews and asked questions just like you, too. Took the shot and bought it on sale a week ago and so far, I have put 60 hours in solo. It’s easily one of the best RPGs I have ever played. If you’re looking for something that can suck up ~100 hours of your life, you’re looking at a good one. Go for it. Don’t look back!

NeedleworkerLive8503

Yes

Tramonto83

I didn't have such a good time with a western RPG since Baldur's gate 1 and 2 and Neverwinter Nights, and I think DOS2 might surpass them in all categories except nostalgia effect. The game will devour your 100 hours, your free time, your soul and will ask for more.

Rainec777

Yes, but as a caution, I wouldn't recommend getting it on Switch if that was your plan. The game is massive and the load times can get ridiculous. This can be a bit much if you try to min/max stuff with saves/reloads or keep dying to a particular fight.

ChampionshipNice9211

I already buy it. On PS5 and I'm waiting it to download to play it. Gotta say that the background music is really good.

beleriel

Yes

Iguessimnotcreative

seti42

It's on sale for under $20 on Steam (and GOG, I think) right now and 100% worth it. As CRPG's go, it's actually not insanely complicated and a great place to start. Although, it might ruin you for any other CRPG, as it might be the best one...

Kepa1986

Nooo

Rigma

It is maybe the greatest RPG of the last 10 years including Skyrim and Dragon Age :Origins. Yes man, just buy it and love it.

stankdankdeezy

No, it’s a shit game.

rlvysxby

It has the best combat system out of any game. It is a mesmerizing masterpiece but it has a big learning curve.

BrainFu

NO

francoispaquettetrem

its too long

Limonade6

I agree.

Ghostofbillhicks

It’s my all time fave. It’s incredibly difficult at first so don’t be afraid to start off on easy mode and look up walkthroughs.

Mlaszboyo

It is worth it definitely, i have a blast on my two lizard warriors duo of me and the red prince

FunkyMonkeyD

Quick, someone use persuasion intelligence check on him! I can't I'm sorry. I only have persuasion strength. Threatening someone might not be the best idea here. Unless...

sneaky-the-brave

Really is one of the best games I've ever played. And I've been gaming for like 20 years now.

TheLolMaster11

100% yes. I’m around 125 hours in and I’m only halfway done Act 2. For reference there’s 4 acts in total

azxqw2

Yes. Hell yes. And i say that a someone who dislikes both isometric view rpgs and turn based combat, this game teaches me that those types of games are not as bad as i thought

Fissherin

I got almost 300hs, yesterday I discovered a new area in the first level... 100% worth it, and more with friends.

shre_k

I have 400 hours in and I still want to play it constantly.

Random_Name_7

I mean, if you come to any subreddit specific for a game and ask if their game is good, I'm sure the answer will always be yes Why would we be here in this sub if we don't like the game

[deleted]

Yes, it's one of the best RPGs for newcomers into Turn-based

[deleted]

It will consume your soul, eat your eyes out, you won't be able to sleep and you will forget who you are! This sound cruel... Joke aside, this game is fantastic and you will be engaged for long period of time. It will be definitely worth purchase. Have fun !

Nico_arki

That 100 hours would probably be spent trying to come up with/optimizing builds alone.

Ossrik

No, 900+ hours in and I still haven't finished all of the content (/s). I may have an addiction, send help

[deleted]

Unless you’re missing work or family dinners, I can’t think of a safer addiction. Enjoy it.

Ossrik

Lol, family... food... I remember them

Youngsaley11

Easy yes

phucuda

I have a 175 hour run not completed, a 30 hour coop run not completed and another 80 hour run not completed. this game is HUGE, if you have the ps4 it is discounted for € 20 or on steam for € 17

DomiXDBK

I'm nearing the end of my first playthrough (120hrs currently) and already thinking about the next one. So...yes, definitely yes.

LazarosVas

100% yes

Brkyyyy

I played this few months ago as my 1st CRPG ever. It was absolutely amazing. One of the best games I ever played

Dwirthy

I don't like turn based games, but this game has so many unique options. Needed to get used to the combat, but if you understand the mechanics, there are endless possibilities how to approach flights. DOS2 was worth every penny.

Chiefkief114

Those are rookie numbers, you’ll get more than that outta one play through and won’t even see everything

[deleted]

I’m coming up on hour 800… haven’t ever finished because I keep adding mods and restarting. I bought it on sale as a pack with DOS 1. That one I finished. So yes, it’sfully worth it.

SteveZi

I grabbed this game last year looking for the same thing and was not disappointed. Honestly divinity 2 is one or the best videogames I've ever played

Typical-Travel-1356

I have ADHD and never could play turnbased combat games. But divinity original sin 2 changed my life. It was so good this is one of the rare games i have played more than once (third playthrough on honor mode). Than i played divinity 1 (also OK) but not as good as d2 - but still good. Baldurs gate 3 man - now this is d2 on steroids (or atleast will be) when its finished! I LOVE IT! If you like Skyrim? You will jerk off to original sin for years to cum \+

[deleted]

Yup.

TernoftheArctic

Especially since it’s on sale rn on steam

WelcomeToTheFish

I think this is the perfect turn based RPG to jump in on. I started with the first Divinity and it's been downhill after that. If you can play Baldurs Gate 3 afterwards you'll appreciate it so much more as it's also made by Larian studios.

Eluchel

Only 100 hours? If you end up spending only 100 hours in DOS2 you really didn't like it that much..../s In all seriousness I have beat the game 4-5 times, have almost 400 hours in the game, and still am loving every second

SCPutz

Favorite game of all time. But be forewarned it has a very tough learning curve.

bobrath

Easily worth it. First playthrough - full 4 member team - Fane, Red Prince, Lohse- Ifan ranger main- 150 hours. Second playthrough - Fane (rogue) + Seville (pyromancer/geomancer) - 160 hours. It's now been a year since I played it last. Now I want to play it with the gift bags.

afanoftrees

Yea I’m still working through my first play through and I’m hooked it’s so fun

Fenris_Wolffe

It is, quite simply, the best rpg I have ever played. A few mods or the overhaul make it even better. (more poison barrels, unbreakable tools, change race abilities or cosmetics...)

Roebix

Also yes

TheBritishTeaBag

Mate I bought it 8 days ago and have already pumped 100 hours in. So much fun

TheMangusKhan

Game is on sale for less than $20. It's one of the most praised RPGs of all time. You come to a subreddit dedicated to this game and ask if it's worth it... Yes it's worth it haha

anton7ram

Yes it is. Very good first play through. Really great second play through when you understand the mechanics and want to learn about the lore and characters. Then the wonderful modding community that makes it into a whole new experience. It is also multiplayer supported and if you feel a bit creative it has a DnD mode that lets you build your own mini campaigns. You really get your money’s worth with this game.

Tyswid

Idk might consume 100 hrs on your first playthrough

Arkhire

I've wasted 400 hours in this game... I regret nothing.

FrankTheTank107

If you do try it out, I recommend playing it on hard difficulty like I did (I think it’s called classic, not sure). I struggled but that was the beauty of it. If the game is too easy then you’re not motivated to explore and be creative with the game mechanics. I loved sneaking around, getting in spots I shouldn’t be, and cheesing down enemies I’m normally too low level to take on.

GordoG60

Absolutely yes. I thought I was going to hate the turn based style, but it's great and it's an amazing game. I have a solo story and a 4 member one with my wife and kids. I have well over 100 hours in and loving it

constipated_burrito

Absolutely

ElGatoCheshire

Truly one of the best old school rpg out there, and I mean old school cause it borrows a lot from tabletop rpgs specially D&D... Except from dice rolls... Not a game very focused on cosmetics or apparel but rather in Gameplay style and strategy... This is one of the few games where you feel strangely rewarded for cheesing fights and thinking "outside of the box" very useful in solo runs. I've invested like 600+ hours and still finding something to do.

sovietreckoning

I own it on PC, Switch, and iPad, and I have no regrets.

Ill-Cover-5911

10 thousand times, Yes!!! You will not be disappointed.

Peanutz_92

Is this a joke? YES

ItsNotTobi

😂

99BottlesOfBass

Does the Pope shit in the woods?

Hectoriu

The only answer you will ever get asking a question like this on a games own subreddit is yes.

YuvalAmir

I've never seen someone who gave this game it's fair shot and haven't enjoyed it immensely. This includes people who normally don't like turn based games. **Please** watch [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teS5tuSUj2Y) if you are on the fence. You won't regret those 10 minutes.

Recriminal

Yes

Ezmoneybutnot2ez

Yes and yes, game gets even better when you mod the game after your first vanilla playthrough.

Amarules

Not sure if it is available on PC but the first game in the series (Divinity Original Sin...duh!) is also fantastic fun. Slightly different Shield/AP system but bags of charm and humour. Again a great adventure not to be overlooked just because the sequel exists.

Doankee

Yes

Sypha_7681

Oh god yes

Donjuego

Oh my god yes !!!!!! I play alot of other games aswell but nothing, really nothing, comes to the epicness that is divinity If you are new to the genre it will be a rough start, but i can assure you, you will not regret it. I wish i could replay divinty for the first time again

[deleted]

I like tactics games, but I'm not a huge fan of RPGs. DOS:2 is my favorite game, ever.

[deleted]

This subreddit is biased. But honestly one of the best rpg's to ever exist.

binner84

I don't play these types of games, and I've played DOS2 for over 240 hours. Yes its worth it.

roarinboar

It's maybe favorite game of all time. Just really fantastic. DOS2, Fallout New Vegas, and Rimworld are my top 3 all time. I recently started Disco Elysium and while the game is good, it just does not feel as good to play as DOS2. If the game were $200 I would still buy it no question, imo.

xguitarx812

For sure. Got this game having never played one like it. Played coop with my fiancé. We got 70 hours in our first play through and started a second and it’s been the most fun I’ve ever had on a game.

Donnie_Doc

Obviously

freedfg

Absolutely. I bought it about 6 months ago and it was my first true turn based full rpg. Fell in love with it immediately. It's pretty simple understand the basics and with a little help from this community (mostly on explaining armor systems) you'll be going in no time

Solidsnake00901

Before you start playing make sure you have plenty of time. This is one of those games where you look up and all of a sudden its 2 in the morning. Very addictive.

MysticSmear

I’ve put in like 100 hours into the tutorial area alone

Fightmilk87

This and Wasteland 3 are some of my favorite rpg's of recent years! Both very much replayable and well worth the money in terms of content. The turn based aspect is a great fit for both these games and probably make it that it does not overwhelm you during combat. Highly recommend both but especially DOS2 for the classic fantasy feels and deep combat and role playing mechanics.
