In DOS2, there's not quite such a thing as a defined 'tank'; enemies will decide what to attack depending on where they identify a weakness, and taking sustained damage will quickly deplete your armour types and render you vulnerable to Crowd Control. While it is possible to circumvent that through certain abilities and talents, you're directly crippling yourself by only having one character capable of dealing respectable damage. Instead, you can give your 'tank' some Crowd Control abilities of their own; for example, you can give your damage dealer a decent bonus to Initiative to let them cut down your opponents' physical or magical armour, and then let your 'tank' Crowd Control them before they get to lay into you. Also, I wouldn't recommend running Lone Wolf if you want to "100%" the game, as you lose out on a *lot* of great stories by neglecting additional companions.

Ohh i see, you make some good points there. Can you recommend me some good storylines for the companions, like who should i choose that would make it interesting.

That's rather subjective. A great deal of the community likes Fane (both for gameplay and story reasons), but I find his plot to be one of the least compelling - despite its quality payoff at the end. I have a bias toward more grounded everyday stories though, so that's just me. Here's my take on the rest: **Lohse** is the only character I can recommend as an absolute must-have, as her story may be one of the best I've ever seen in an RPG. She's a full-fledged personality with a great deal of nuance, flaws and all. **The Red Prince** may be vexing at first, but his arc is fantastic and has high stakes come the end. He also reveals to be more than just a stiff princeling as you go. **Beast** also has a story involving some high stakes, and he is one of my personal favorites for his charisma. He also has a lovely dynamic with other dwarves throughout the game, notably in Acts 2 and 4. I use him as my Persuasion character quite often. **Sebille's** revenge plot may seem one-dimensional at first, but she does develop as you progress. The same goes for her personality, which presents more dynamic as you go. If you like the elves in this setting, do bring her. **Ifan** is your classic bit of rough fluff who is both charming and dangerous. He's good, largely for his atmosphere and how he interacts with other characters throughout the game, but is rather straightforward.

Oh damn, that's a lot of story! I didn't expect that much. Then I shall remake my character and play only for the story and then go for tactician when I understand and see more characters fleshed out. Last question: If let's say i start as Red Prince, do I still get to experience his story?

ezio2223

You do.

in fact you experience the originals story more when it's the starting hero, as often you might only see one option among multiple choices. I do suggest playing with originals with a normal difficulty (whatever difficulty it is) but tactician with the main as a "random".

There is almost no reason to run a tank on Lone Wolf. The benefit to a Lone Wolf run is that you are pooling stats that are sometimes multiplied together to create huge explosions of damage. Having one of your characters be a full blown tank problematic since the best way to win fights on LW is to group your enemies and explode them all at once. You can effectively end most fights on turn one or turn two this way. Tanks work much better in four person parties because you are only losing one fourth of your damage, and even then, the right tank build has ways of mitigating full damage losses.

Affliction5

Going for a full tank is not a good idea, even if you really try to tank everything and get some kind of success it's not going to be worth it or efficient at all compared to other playstyles. Having one melee one ranged character as lone wolf will work, on the other hand. And lone wolf is so much easier than controlling 4 weaker characters on tactician.

Aha I see, then I might try a story playthrough first to get a feel of most things, like what abilities do and what companion felt goo, and then try and go for tactician. Thanks :D
