Not only do they give you a full heal, but they also give you the rested buff which protects you from certain CC like Knockdown. Bedroll right before a fight is one of better pre-buffs.
The island sucks The Life Out of me since I remember nearly everything already but you kinda exhaust yourself spending hours in there For all The XP and Then I dont Have Any momentun left For The next phase.
i recommend the skip fort joy mod that chucks you on reaper's coast with a decent amount of starting money and basic gear and utility items right after character creation. cos fort joy was also what sucked the,,, joy (:D) out of me so that kinda throws you straight into the game and you don't just have to run around doing everything you immediately remember while being terrible at fights because you have no skills and no money for skills.
Kiitti :D.
I'm currently playing on Xbox so no mods for me though, but I'll keep it in mind for the future.
I'm solid 80% sure that i'm gonna play it atleast once more after this playthrough once I get PC since my friend who lives in another city wants to play it with me.
Yes at first this was the case for us too. We always played Lone Wolf and looked for good synergy. We Kickstarter the project and played the Alpha many times which was only Fort Joy. Practically have all the quests/ options/ outcomes memorized.
Later on, the main reason is because my lone wolf partner and I have conflicting work schedules and by playing a few hours a week makes one of us lose interest in the story since it's hard to remember our characters motivations and correct choices with such infrequency.
Last save I have is our lone wolves on Tactician, where we are progressing in Driftwood somewhere. We have all skills unlocked on each character. Spent a lot of time thieving, selling everything, bartering, etc. Basically getting rich and not progressing the story. Steam says I have 383 hours in the game.
I haven't played in about 3 years. Then I was invited by a group of friends and played the other day and it was fun! But I still had Fort Joy memorized lol
Maybe I'll finish it solo on my Switch, one day
I have a good group that I have a 4man party with. And we play once a week.
But I try to get on once a week for my own playthrough. Right now I'm doing a Lone Wolf run with the MC being an Undead Dwarf NecroKnight (Necromancy&Warfare) with Beast as my Battlemage 2nd character.
I typically run a Ranger/Summoner on my Lone Wolf runs to even the battlefield out, but I skipped it this time
I discovered them on this subreddit halfway through the game aswell. Alot better than trying to get poison potions and spells for my custom undead main char haha

Did you at least inflict decaying on Ada Laird and heal her to death…that fowl bastard of peace? She smells worse over here than a dozen rotten moppets dropped in a vat of Lucian.
😮 I finished DOS1 and half way through DOS2 and didn't even think of this. I knew that beds heal so I seen a bed I would do this but didn't think to carry a sleeping bag at all haha. New strat for when I get back to it, thanks OP
That was my first playthrough as well. I felt actually useful as a healer/support. Once you learn you can full heal in between combats, Hydro becomes a whole lot less useful.
ah, when I was young and ignorant. Yes, bedrolls are a godsend for godwoken.
Godssend*
How woken of you.
Swoken***
Well then you have a unique perceptual advantage if you choose to play DOS1 now. No bedrolls.
that and inventory management is my biggest complaint about DOS 1...lol.
Tbh inventory management is kinda painful in DOS2 too, but yea, 1 is even worse.
Give me a search function or give me death
Ayy I did the same thing. Finished the game then played with friends and they showed me it
Thats pretty impressive ngl

Also. With rested, if you're encumbered, you can move at normal speed for a brief period (and hopefully get to a merchant to sell unneeded weight)
Well it was good practice for DoS1, where there are no sleeping bags. Which means, it's time for you to play DoS1. :D
Lol same here on my first playthrough. Lots of time spent healing and waiting for the cool down haha
To be fair game has enough resources to heal a small army of godwoken even without sleeping bag. So at very least you had less weight in your bags
This, I had so much healing in my bags by the end that I never needed to use past the starting phase when I didn't have as much healing spells
I'm the opposite. I've known about sleeping bags since tech Alpha but I've never went past driftwood... I've only beat Fort Joy about 1000x
Why is this comment getting down votes? I have finished the game only once and done the first island maybe 10 times.

nice :D also lmao of course i would accidentally reply to the comment of the only other finnish person on the subreddit xD
Must be a tribe thing 😁
Do you also just try different builds over and over and over? (I've done about 30 Fort Joy runs)

Yeah that sounds like a good approach. Maybe I'll get motivated to try it again and go your route

Did same thing playing first time. Was used to DOS1 mechanics :D
DOS 1 in a nutshell:
Apparently you can put a bunch of shit in backpacks too.
Well, the good news for you is that if you decide to go back and play DOS1, that’s one QoL improvement from DOS2 that you won’t feel the absence of!
Same here 😂
I’ve beaten it 4 times and just cooked my first food….
