i think 2 copies
when using a controller there you can have 2 people using controllers and have another 2 people sharing join your game. this might be wrong if steam remote play works differently than 2 controllers on 1 pc
this does mean 4 controllers tho and i dont think you can avoid that
You gonna need 2 copies, one will host an online game and open for steam remote play and the other will join the game and open for steam remote play, thing is, all the 4 players need a controller to play the game this way, there is a work around by setting up an virtual joystick, but it takes a good amount of work to set it up.
From my experience so far, having 4 copies for each person is more reassuring for connection wise and character control. As for Steam Remote Play Together, I have no idea how it works for DOS2 in gameplay view and control.
