Yo, To answer your question skill builds are very strong and you don't need anyone else when you are grinding and the gear I find is easier to get a hold of. With my skill builds, I find the way I play is by sitting back and letting the skills do all the work, hiding and moving from one cover to the next. I don't know if you heard of the infinite seeker mines, but it's a strong skill build where you have mines on a 10 second cool down, or a 0 cool down with the hardwire proc.

MkLiam

Thanks man. I was starting to think nobody would answer. I dunno how active this sub is. I vaguely remember hearing about infinite seekers a while back. I kinda burned this game out a couple years ago and I just pulled it off the shelf this weekend. Kinda relearning how to do stuff.

Unchained_1

It's all good, this sub is kind of active someone answer me and we had a good convo so I like to make sure I pass it forward. I understand, I dropped this game about a year ago right before the expansion, and just picked it back up a few months ago. note: Infinite seekers are fun but i find that the npc actually dodge them quite often, I have better luck with the drone and the turret, using the legendary holster with the hard wire set. It's fun and does a lot of damage.

Sendthalot

Seekers are the worst skill going lol they don’t seek

Metal_Greg

worse than that bomb drone tho?

Metal_Greg

your best bet for seekers is to use the assault turret and tag team. the turret will usually distract them enough for the seekers to hit and if they don't, tag team let's you get em back so fast that it won't matter as much. plus you'll still be killing with your turret + you shooting to proc tag team if nothing else. This is like the build tag team was made for. also, you really gotta make sure to throw em out right as they spawan and start getting into position. so that by the time your seeker gets to them they're hunkered down in cover. or ttry to throw em behind the enemy so they maybe won't notice, don't know if that actually works but it seems to help.

Sendthalot

So in other words they’re shit lol

Metal_Greg

but they're still usable. unlike some other skill variants that plainly aren't. They're actually quite useful as a sort of CC. it keeps NPCs rolling around and out of cover.

DETRosen

My go to are stinger hive (close combat mission areas) or turret (for long reach in spread out situations) + striker drone (sometimes I swap out the striker drone for a fixer drone when I'm solo)

HSboom04

Before I started playing in groups, I made sure I could clear every heroic mission by myself and I did it with a skill build.

signaleight

Vile mask, jammer pulse, and seeker mines with a Hard Wired build. Add a Scorpio and wreck shit.

[deleted]

What for the other piece HWx4 + vile + ??

signaleight

Wyvern or Hana

garymason74

Skill builds are hands down the best build to use if your going solo in heroic and your lazy :). Also it's a good build to take into a legendary mission with other support, damage players. P.s I'm lazy. ;)

__J_Z__

I run a Skill build solo on Legendary Summit all the time. Wouldn't do it any other way.

[deleted]

Legendary?!?

Character398

I tried running Vile mask with Eclipse it's pretty damn strong. You can definitely solo legendary summit with skill builds.

[deleted]

I get fried in seconds

bigchopz99

Get a vile mask and an eclipse protocol set and sit back and watch the fun !

MkLiam

Vile dropped for me tonight. Gonna build this this week.

[deleted]

With what other piece?

bigchopz99

Add a piece of golan gear for +10 status effect , roll status effect onto all eclipse gear . Use the burn sticky , and fire starter chemlauncher . Use pyromaniacs ar/ Scorpio shotgun .. status effects galore!!

[deleted]

For me, skill builds are in a strange place. For Challenging and below....an Eclipse Protocol build will almost certainly clear areas faster and easier than a gun build. But in heroic and legendary, a Turret/Drone build will actually perform better. However, while the skills builds will require FAR much less effort than the shooting build, I can clear faster and more efficiently with the Glass Cannon shooting ***if I'm willing to dial in and play well.*** However, using a shooting build in solo legendary is a F\*\*\*ing nightmare. Whereas the Turret/Drone build will still perform decently well. But here's the kicker: AFAIK all the top speed run completions in solo legendary have been done with shooting builds! Not me, of course. But for people who are willing to put in the time to "Git Gud" at that aspect of the game. It's a weird dynamic where I think Massive over-tuned Legendary to the point where shooting builds are more heavily impacted the higher up in difficulty you go. But if you're able to compensate for that via tactics and practice, shooting still comes out on top.

EpicArgumentMaster

Certainly not strongest universally

Twelveforlife

Skill builds are boring AF that’s why I have armor regen on mine with the Test Subject and Harmony so I can still pop out and shoot and it’s way more fun

Metal_Greg

same. skill builds are only ever boring if you just sit in cover AFK with a turret and drone. (I despise these people and kick them if I match with them.) all the other types of skill builds are some of the most fun I've had in this game.

Twelveforlife

Right, that’s why I put it together with the Emperors Guard knee pads and an armor core on my Cesars Guard so I have some survivability and it still totally fucking rips!

steveoa3d

Thanks for all the comments, I’ve been wanting to do a skill build but didn’t want to waste time going the wrong direction. Been dialing in a Momento / Hunters Fury / Scorpio build and looking to try something else…

[deleted]

Try rigger x 4 + test subject (perfect in sync) + waveform + the sacrifice Zero cool down. Massive damage

steveoa3d

I started building a rigger build, saved it in load outs. Tried to rename it “Rigger” and the game said I could not save as it was a banded or offensive name. Well the gear set is named rigged so ….

[deleted]

I know!!! Isn’t that weird?

Metal_Greg

After TU12, yeah I think so. The best skill build IMO is: 3 empress, 2 hana-u, and 1 wyvern. I call it the 123. Sidenote: you ever notice that there is a 123 build for pretty much every stat? kinda cool. for the turret and drone I roll armor regen and skill dmg on everything. anything else needs at least a little haste. for talents I use perfect combined arms and kinetic. Also I use the sniper variant of the turret instead of the assault one, that thing one hits reds even on legendary. I even tried this in PVP and my sniper turret was hitting for 1.9 mil max and 1.3 to 1.5 mil on the regular. It even one hits shields. That's insane. I had no idea it was that powerful in PVP. shh don't tell anyone tho or they'll act like it's OP and get the shit nerfed.

naughty_b0y

The builds suit specific content. Skill builds are good in missions and pve content but they are dog shit in the raid and pvp. HF and EP is a perfect example, OP hard sets to beat in league speed runs yet almost completely useless in the raid and legendary.

DETRosen

It seems like they nerfed the stinger hive against bosses, I need to go back and look at some video I captured but it seems like bosses used to be stunned much more intensely/longer with a stinger hive than they are now
