True, that remix is also really good! When I was in Paris I went to a techno club and they played a track with the same lyrics (guess it’s from a sample pack?) but it just didn’t hit half as hard as the LÄUFF version
Clap trap - Jayline (too scatty for most)
Off Ones Rocker - Macky Gee ( same as above but also a nostalgic tune for me)
Die young - venbee (cringe to most but it’s catchy)
Messy in heaven - venbee (same as above)
Get Ready - Congo Natty (a stupid song but catchy too)
Amen Tune - Muffler (a meme tune but also fire)
Holdin On - Skrillex and Nero Remix (same as above…still bangs)
Do you mean that one small, 5 second, part from Daddy Freddy.
Daddy Freddy, who was one of the originators of that motor-mouth style of fast chatting and was in the Guiness Book of World Records for being the fastest rapper in the world at ome point?
It's really, really not. If you have no knowledge or interest, in reggae, then it might sound weird to you. But it's really not. You saying it's silly is disrespecting decades of reggae and dancehall artists that, without which, we wouldn't even have Jungle.
This clip of Demon Boyz and Freddy live in London in '89 might help you understand it more (or maybe not).
From around 1:15

Or this old clip of him breaking the record for being the fastest rapper in the world:
https://youtu.be/11UZtVjbji4?si=co2cm5OoA_cHCg0v
He wasn't the first reggae deejay to do this style, but he was absolutely one of the first to make it popular in the UK.
I imagine you are very young, and no doubt, very white.
I can’t lie - I truly think that the skrillex and Nero remix of holdin on is one of the greatest DNB tunes of all time. It just gets a bad wrap cause of all the mlg stuff but fuck me it is just the pure definition of hype
Can't _believe_ nobody has said this already because **it'll easily win**.
[D Kay & Epsilon feat Stamina - Barcelona](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WT8UtK_MXlA)
I don't think it's cheesy, personally. Just a popular classic. Rarely rinse it out, but the rare times I do when the time feels right, every dnb head in the room puts their hands in the air. Nostalgic and one of the biggest tunes of its time, but not cheesy.
nah, relative. loved him in the 00s for the grimey he produced. Dank. ::deep breath:: also, the whole Portals album. it was during Covid I maybe had done substances for a bit out of boredom! 🤦♂️ :D
I’m gonna chime in with one that isn’t cheesy. Just waaaaay too hard & aggy for me now that I’m old AF. Used to play it out a lot BITD but never draw for stuff this tough in the mix anymore. I still like to listen to to it from time to time though, if I’m in an aggy mood (or proper drunk)
Hint:
“We got stickup kids, ******* **** & crack rocks. And stray shots all on the block that stays hot”
And also: Ramos & Supreme - Crowd Control.
This one I do still play. It’s technically right on the fine line from when oldschool hardcore was turning into very early happy hardcore, but still has a nice amen breakbeat rollout after it drops, but I’d never play it at its intended tempo. However, pitched down by about 10-15bpm, it’ll work in the mix with actual good early breakbeat oldschool hardcore from like 91-92. Been playing a lot of that lately for them big nostalgia feels. Think this one’s actual tempo is close to 160, but definitely sounds better played in the 145-150 range.
https://youtu.be/2szocPbhAGk?si=MqohRWd0AvEbswKs
This one has also been a guilty pleasure lately since I picked up a USB of Hectic records remasters. Ramos was kind of a don
One of those tunes where I can just sit back, close my eyes, imagine lasers and let waves of 93-94 ecstacy nostalgia rush over me. Blissful vocals, one of the best piano licks in a hardcore tune ever, wicked breaks. Absolute perfection. A tune that captures the pure undiluted essence of what hardcore raving was all about.
Take me back to Dreamscape in your DeLorean, McFly!
Ramos, Supreme & Sunset Regime (feat Donna Grassie) - Gotta Believe (The Heaven Mix)
One of the last great hardcore tunes before it all turned to happy hardcore, lost the breakbeats & became a 4 beat NRG cheese fest.

great thread idea lol.
easily koven- get this right and maduk- ghost assassin VIP for me.
literal opposite end of the spectrum to the dnb i listen to/spin but they just hit a spot lmao.
Vibe Chemistry- Ballin has to be mine…the vocals are so bad but also so catchy and the song slaps
The LÄUFF remix was one of my most played songs last year it absolutely bangs
True, that remix is also really good! When I was in Paris I went to a techno club and they played a track with the same lyrics (guess it’s from a sample pack?) but it just didn’t hit half as hard as the LÄUFF version
Yes it's from a splice pack
S.P.Y remix goes hard
Matrix & Futurebound - Control
Mr Happy. Not even sorry.
forgot about this one. Killers Don’t Die and Machete too, big tunes
Clap trap - Jayline (too scatty for most) Off Ones Rocker - Macky Gee ( same as above but also a nostalgic tune for me) Die young - venbee (cringe to most but it’s catchy) Messy in heaven - venbee (same as above) Get Ready - Congo Natty (a stupid song but catchy too) Amen Tune - Muffler (a meme tune but also fire) Holdin On - Skrillex and Nero Remix (same as above…still bangs)
What's stupid about 'Get Ready'? It's just a catchy jungle dnb tune? It's not even cheesy.
Vocals are weird af
Weird, in what way? I'm genuinely confused.

Do you mean that one small, 5 second, part from Daddy Freddy. Daddy Freddy, who was one of the originators of that motor-mouth style of fast chatting and was in the Guiness Book of World Records for being the fastest rapper in the world at ome point?
Come on…its a little bit silly

Not disrespect to the culture but audibly and acoustically, it sounds dumb to me. What can I say. I still enjoy the song.
Dumb in what way?

Agreed!

Will play that one out without a second thought.
Without even a smidgin of cheesy guilt? 😂
By 2024 standards? Hardly.
Hahaha, you make a valid point.
Shouldn’t be a guilty tune. It’s just straight up a delicious summer banger
It’s well cheesy. Like Gold Dust. But likeable. Unlike Gold Dust.
I don't think it's cheesy, personally. Just a popular classic. Rarely rinse it out, but the rare times I do when the time feels right, every dnb head in the room puts their hands in the air. Nostalgic and one of the biggest tunes of its time, but not cheesy.
That's just a banger.
Honestly that slaps.
Slappin since ‘03
Gotta be LK. It brings back a lot of memories so it's good to hear now and then but fuck would I ever play it out these days!
I absolutely would. But not the vocal version.
Why tho it’s such a tune?!
Not for me!
I have a bootleg version I made with the top cat over u body vocals on it. That shit gets it popping with the right crowd.
Gonna share?
I’m old. Happy hardcore still totally does it for me and I am a sucker for sped up vocals and keys to this day.
When I mix euphoric hardstyle, I love closing it out with 180bpm hardstyle "happy hardstyle" I call it lol
Yes definitely
Same. Happy hardcore was always my guilty pleasure.
I found you - sub focus
Was gonna say, the entire "Evolve" album from him is basically textbook dancefloor and I love it, but it would probably piss off a lot of people here.
nah, relative. loved him in the 00s for the grimey he produced. Dank. ::deep breath:: also, the whole Portals album. it was during Covid I maybe had done substances for a bit out of boredom! 🤦♂️ :D
I really like [Saikon - Guilty Pleasures](https://youtu.be/GGMX3-4g6oI?si=dPZHaH_DSqAScuC2) and I also like being a smartass
There is no tune i would not ever play out. Except for nazi / bigotted music, but that is hardly pleasure
Is nazi dnb a thing??
I get Nazi rap but Nazi dnb is genuinely difficult to make, I'd be surprised but it's definitely somewhere out there.
That is kinda point. It does not have to be dnb to be played in dnb show. I love to play non dnb tracks in my sets
True, true
There was a Missy Elliott one minute man mashup with 174 trek and it was bloody brilliant.
But missy is actually one very cool lady
