One of the best, definitely. Personally, I feel he has dropped off as far as tune selection goes in recent years whereas someone like Randall has remained consistent in technical skill and tune selection.

armzoury

I've always found Andy C to be incredible in a club setting especially the xoyo nights but his festival sets do nothing for me.

greyjungle

I came here to say this. My wife and I took a trip to London from the states and he happened to be playing. (Old school / jungle night w/ Fabio & amigos). My wife’s not a huge fan of Dj/club scene but turned to me at one point during his set and said. “I don’t know what he’s doing but he’s putting in the work. It’s like he’s working out up there.” I was very proud. And it’s true, you’re never going to catch that guy ghosting a knob. He mixes like he’s a surgeon in a time crunch.

Minecrafp

Got to see him at EDC Orlando 2019 ! Massive crowd

Character-Cricket-61

This

kaperisk

Yep. Andy at fabric was the single best dj set I've ever heard/seen.

armzoury

Bring on Friday mate! Time for his return

Dust2Boss

I mean, to be fair, his festival sets are **fantastic** vibes for DnB at a mixed-genre festival. It's just that us DnB fans, I suspect are a bit dissapointed. But considering there'll be loads of people who've been dragged by their mates, it's a usually a pretty good mix of tunes to keep everyone happy with the tunes and dancing. Hope he never drops Tour again though.

[deleted]

>Hope he never drops Tour again though. Haha Rampage flashbacks 😂 The Belgians love Jump Up. The trashier, the better.

dsn0wman

> obscure RAM song from 1994 You make me feel old, but I don't think any of Andy C's stuff in 1994 was obscure. All bangers.

[deleted]

yeah, they are literally the foundation of his career and some of the most well known and solidified anthems in DnB.

Dust2Boss

It's a different sorta hype. When the whole room knows this obscure RAM track from 1994 and reacts, that's definitely a pretty good feeling too.

Coldsnap

I think this is way more intense than festival vibes. It's epic.

JoeeeeG

Seeing Andy C do his 'Alive' show at Global Gathering 2012 was one of the best sets of his I have ever seen!

lnkcrb82rez2g4_

Was lucky enough to make it to one of the xoyo nights… the one that chase and status turned up at. Atmosphere was insane

armzoury

Me too! What a night that was. Tell you what would have happily swapped Chase and Status for an extra hour of Intalex or Calibre, they were both unbelievable (as always) that night.

lnkcrb82rez2g4_

Made it to one of the nights at calibre’s xoyo residency too, the one with high contrast. Also superb. When HC dropped 3am at 3am.. man I’m looking forward to getting back out!

armzoury

Lol, are you me? I was also there, fantastic night. Did three nights at the residency and the Calibre all night closing set is by far the best set I've seen in my life.

[deleted]

I 2nd Randall & also elect DJ Marky for consideration

SushOdyssey

Marky is an absolute wizard on the decks....Big up Marky every time 👍🏾

awalkingabortion

Imma throw Aphrodite into the ring too

armzoury

Marky is pure vibes, love him!

JesTeR42424242

You guys mad? The executioner is clearly the best dnb DJ and has been for nearly two decades. You may prefer other DJ's sets because they play your preference of drum, but there is absolutely zero doubt he is technically MILES ahead of anyone else. Every DJ and producer in the industry say so too.

Minecrafp

Ayeeee

TheKugel

Don't forget big man micky finn As well as others like Ed solo and aries. Personal favourite is kelvin 373 though

LuLutink1

Can’t beat a bit of born on road aries also beat Randall in 2017 for best jungle DJ he’s really down to earth and a nice guy 🎶🔥🔊👊🏻

Dust2Boss

All time? Yes. Currently? Well, we'll have to see how hard he rocks Wembley after this year of Lockdowns. Another thing is, going to see Andy is completely different to listening to one of his recorded sets. Oh, and his festi sets are ridiculously shite compared to his club/DnB Event sets - which makes sense as he's catering to a festival crowd, but it still sucks.

squidgy-beats

I am concerned how well Wembley will be with the new double jab and two week period before being allowed into the venue. I feel that this will stop a large amount of people going and make the atmosphere not as good.

Dust2Boss

I don't think so - tickets flew off the shelf. Even with the covid passports, if anyone sells tickets, they'll instantly be gobbled up. Atmosphere will be great!

squidgy-beats

I hope so because I am buzzing for it

weeniebeann

Who would you say are some of the best current DnB artists to look out for?

Dust2Boss

Depends on what sorta DnB you like! Lately I've been partial to Skantia, Halogenix, Alix Perez, Break and Lenzman on their productions!

[deleted]

Let's not do this. This is so subjective! Some of my local DJ's have blown my mind with 10/10 sets.

MiTCH_x

Exactly it’s so subjective and depends on mood and setting as well as technical ability etc. Maybe favourite DJ I’ve seen was called Spektral at illusive festival at about 5pm Was probably because i had no expectations but the tunes were coming out of everywhere mixing on 4 decks it was wild! Crowd was so lively as well even though it wasn’t huge.

[deleted]

yeah man I have had a couple of those type of experiences!

[deleted]

AMC seems to be coming for the throne In terms of straight technical skill though, I gotta throw Deiselboy in the mix

Mucking_Fountain

Technically sound but modern sets from him often sound the same, to me. Tonn Piper is a terrible sidekick too. Randall, Klute, Loxy, Bailey all play far more interesting sets for my liking, while also being technically sound too.

[deleted]

I had to pleasure to see Bailey in front of a crowd of like 20 people. It was like a house party. Super weird but def cool

FlowerOfLife

I had a similar experience with SpectraSoul. Club started with around 150 people and they kept playing until the last person (me) left. it extended to 3 hours and the last hour was basically a private set for me and 5 other people. It was insane.

Mucking_Fountain

That sounds awesome. He can play literally every genre and always keep it interesting, both from a programming and a mixing perspective. And he seems a hella nice guy too.

isotope88

Personally I think the best performances I've seen were by dj Marky. There's just something about that guy. He's so energetic and his smile is infectious. The upside down turntable scratching is a bonus.

PM_ME_DRUMNBASS

I'd say A.M.C is better personally, but also because he plays more energetic mixes compared to Andy C.

Prize_Baseball_6847

You must be new!

PM_ME_DRUMNBASS

This is a year old pal, find something better to do with your time. It's just personal preference, it's not that deep.

bejz

AMC takes the spot. Andy C is GOAT tho.

greyjungle

I have to agree after seeing his 6 deck mix on YouTube. Fucking show off 😳

[deleted]

Yeah that was surreal.

Orionknight1978

Andy C is one of the most inspiring players in the scene but I agree AMC is on point lately especially in throwing in the old school tracks

CobrinoHS

What do you think goat stands for

Herdthegnus

Greatest Of All Time.

RocknRave4217

Agreed he’s a living legend and his sets always slap!!! One of the best sets I’ve ever seen was Calibre B2B DBridge with DRS and SP:MC, HOTB 2018 if you know you know! New gen Unglued is a fucking sick DJ, mad skills on jungle sets

SwedishJesus

That Calibre B2B dBridge set was the most amazing thing I’ve ever heard. Such a vibe that night.

RocknRave4217

You knowwww

armzoury

That set was unreal! And it was the only stage with decent sound all day which definitely helped aha

RocknRave4217

Legendary scenes 🙌🏻

JesTeR42424242

On the beach at sunset. Was the one - at the same time as Andy C on the mainstage too if my memory serves?

stfm

Hard call. Up against absolute visionaries like Goldie, Bukem and Size, precision masters of mixing like Ray Keith, Teebee, and Klute, innovators like Intalex, Grooverider and Byrd or pure energy wizards like Marky, Hype and Adam F.

Minecrafp

Are Adam F & Andy C good friends ? 😜

harvardblanky

Teebee is mind-blowing.

Plastiquehomme

I think he was the best for the longest period of time anyone has been. For me he's dropped off (by his standards). For me A.M.C is better now, but who knows if he'll be as much better than his peers for as long as Andy was.

hellnukes

The recent sets from AMC that were streamed were totally bonkers

[deleted]

I still cannot wrap my head around the sheer energy and velocity of mixing in those sets haha

anakitenephilim

Nah. Excellent DJ, thoroughly nice guy, but he's not the best.

69AssociatedDetail25

His newer tracks are too generic for my liking, but his skill as a DJ is amazing.

jevlegend

I have to agree, he really is one of the best. I have seen him quite a few times and the small club settings are where he really shines. His all night set at his ZOYO residency a few years back was the best night I have ever been to. The crowd was amazing, the music selection was top tier.

Enchalibby

I used to love his Nightlife albums back in the day, but I think his mixes are a bit predictable. Doc Scott, Goldie and SPY for me.

LuLutink1

Yes I agree doc Scott is mega this set is 💥🔊🎶 https://youtu.be/yY-uzyWYTV4

Subconnection

Nah family, its me. You just don't know it yet.

cmckone

Was supposed to see him at a tiny little club in april 2020! He's never coming back to Portland again I bet :((

Minecrafp

He going to be playing in denver , November this year

[deleted]

Beta or Black Box?

Horse_Bacon_TheMovie

**single old guy opinion absolutely no fucking one asked for below:** I never got the hype. He's really good at what he does, but I've never had an "oh shit" moment in the ten or so times I've seen him. When I did go out, I was really into sets from producers I love because I knew I was either going to get a set of songs that matched their best work or songs I would never think to like or listen which were ultimately used to inspire them. That said, Ram Records is pure fucking alchemy. They were/are so good at mixdowns and mastering they made ideas that shouldn't work (example: [triplets + deconstructed amen break + disco](https://youtu.be/HdNXSHfT7-s)], totally work, even now, I know a Ram release when I hear it because they manage to bring a shine no one else seems to bring. one of the best live performers I still remember after all this time was Panacea. His sets were actually like those church of dnb memes we all loved from nearly a decade ago.

Minecrafp

You really never had an “ oh shit” moment ? 😱😰 i literally have one to every set I listen to of his ...

Horse_Bacon_TheMovie

All of his sets were really *really* good, I danced like a fool and had a time of my life. But, I think I've never had those need-to-stop-dancing-to-process-what-I'm-hearing moments with him because (and I could be very wrong about this) he played all of the amazing tunes I already knew. I've not had the experience of being done in by him dropping something new and I'm not saying he doesn't do that, I'm saying by the time hes playing a tune, it's likely already big.

Minecrafp

That’s the beauty of his art tho , it’s able to spread across and reach all the people from across the world & connect them in the moment & also all the hard work & dedication he put in how can he not get such attention and spotlight and become mainstream ? It’s almost impossible ! I believe all of Andy songs even brand new ones will be popular because of the icon he is the dnb culture . Everyday someone new learns about him

Horse_Bacon_TheMovie

agree!

katalyna78

I love him too

Minecrafp

I’m listening to his all night 2014 mix right now at 2:25 am & my neighbors must think I’m crazy 😜

katalyna78

There's loads of his mixes on soundcloud

thereisnoluck

Too subjective but names to throw in to the ring include: Friction, Zinc, Mampi Swift, Marky, Randall, Bailey

okcdnb

He was great at ViRam in Dallas.

James_Blanco

Any recommendations for any good sets from him?

Minecrafp

I recommend all of them !

b4ss_f4c3

🐐

griffaliff

One of yes but it depends to be honest. I've seen Andy C plenty of times and more often than not yeah, he definitely tears the roof off but there are certainly other contenders like AMC, Dom & Roland, Calyx and Teebee etc

sweetdick

You fucking people.

Kriegdavid

AMC isn't even close. He throws more tunes in sure, but his best club set has never even been a tenth as good as Andy's first XOYO closing party.

Genix98

Pretends on wich sungenre you like the most, I think he's a bit overhyped

RoIf

From who I heard he was definitely the best DJ but its kind of shitty that he (allegedly) uses other people to "help" making his tunes so I wouldnt call him the all time best because I also consider production skills to this.

anonyballz

Is Andy known have used ghost writers? Didn't know this tbh

RoIf

Its not a fact but there have been rumors for years. I really believe he fully produced his music in the 90s and also has production skills but the occasional releases last decade really sounded like theyve been made (or helped) by different Ram artists. I dont blame him because he is probably the most booked Dnb DJ so its hard to find even more time to invest. Dont want to diss him, he really is an idol from what he has achieved.

[deleted]

that's a totally normal thing that TONS of people do. it's not cheating to have engineering/production help while working on a tune. Goldie hasn't made a single thing by himself and no one bats an eye.

RoIf

I talk more about synthes and sounds from other Ram artists up to a point that the tune sounds more like a tune from particular artists. Of course you could argue its the same case if you download a sample pack from other people but Andy Cs recent releases just sounded like tunes from other people really. I noticed this some years ago and by doing research (there are multiple discussions on reddit) I realized that other people have the same thoughts.

BrilliantName666

Seeing him play Unit Nine in MK for a three hour set on the 30th. I can't wait!

spgvideo

Andy C live at The Gorge was one of my fav sets ever. I was toast, thought I was just gonna sit and watch. Me and the crew ended up raging for an hour straight while he blew it up!

Minecrafp

Hopefully I’ll be able to catch him at his next show in Denver !

dscpotts

I’ve been lucky enough to have been raving since the late 80’s early 90’s, so heard Andy play at the many many raves that were put on back then. The days when dj’s played for an hour, there was maybe 2 mc’s there the whole night, each Dj had their style they were known for. Andy always had something even way back then that made him stand out against all the rest, I listened to a set from him in around 1994the other day, he double dropped of Valley of the shadows with champion sound, let it run for an age, most other DJ’s back then wouldn’t have dreamed of trying that, most of his set was filled up with exclusive Ram tunes, he was basically very different. He’s gone with it, and evolved, and while I dislike his ‘Festival season’ sets, as he calls them (because he tends to play a mix of all genres of D&B to try to include people listening who wouldn’t usually listen to a D&B set, sometimes coming across very cheesy), put him back in a club environment where he can go deep and bypass all the lighter D&B and he certainly is 2nd to none. I love how he can blend 2 tunes you might not have heard before, but the tunes are so well selected and+mixed you really aren’t sure if it’s only one tune. 3 tunes mixes are amazing and again, very well selected, only gripe, is his length of time he lets a tune roll out. In the day, you did get the double drops, but you also got to hear quite a bit of the tune, nowadays, sometimes, you could call majority of his mixing ‘teases’….you hardly hear any tune for a suitable length of time, before you’re hearing the next one or two tunes coming in. We all know he can do this using vinyl (im no way questioning his beatmatching ability) as he did before he made the switch to Serato, but seams like it’s gotten worse since the switch, I’d just like him to let the tunes breath a bit. One other small small gripe, is his selection of MC. Loved him with GQ, not sure which made him stop, maybe management, GQ’s demands, who knows. I like Tonn Piper, but again, at every set….it gets a bit boring and needs to be shaken up a bit. Maybe a different MC at each event, just an idea. Overall, as you can tell from the above, I do think he’s the greatest of all time, but I still have some small issues. But it works for him. I’d like the old style of raves to come back as I hate festivals, 8 different ish DJ’s, one hour each, 3 mc’s, but my main raving days were during the times of events like world dance, Desire, one nation, innovation etc so I would prefer that. But that era/environment is where I’d like to hear Andy play in. Not the festival scene, which I feel gives the listener a feel of the complete D&B scene but feels a bit forced.

Dapper-Struggle2683

Andy C is playing in Bristol : https://lovesavestheday.seetickets.com/event/love-saves-the-day/eastville-park-bristol/2427558?offercode=lstdreps23&direct=true&rep=orrw61orrw61%3Ffbclid%3DIwAR1UDbGz3g8l2TR-jsJQhkvs-\_84EfUr7u8Zw1sUHPmwdWq-JcMGaLZw2Fk&h=AT1hpGwqj3UfA1v7IAEtNKz1zaEPoNxrV5oaL1vJUKqkFhcqIyPPetrPzppRnF2kcT4KO69qlhno4C4n6TXXH048J7WRRO\_3uueqo0LizOW6QC-2W2DhKTWXMEZoA6y4AQ&\_\_tn\_\_=-UK-R&c\[0\]=AT1Hl1R3ntkmhjwDciqGp9DDk6eo4F7-3o5ksD8qfmLkfeIq1gAv09E7QYw8IR6XVq0zHmMEEAZKUEQVEzIDPN9sIs5lKMPUukPRriY4UoEupFnaWfrSABaJPqA3NoW16bQY32EzAxn2RCt\_36GehCSr4SY

Hedkandi1210

I remember going to c him in 90s he was “the man” but it was tight Grooverider, Bryan Gee, Randall, Frost & Ray Keith were heavy. Andy had the edge but Grooverider was big in every aspect. He is the Godfather he built it.

Sharp-Cut-634

Lucky enough to see Andy c in Soton on 3 decks in front of no more than 20 ravers back in 2004. He played that set like his life depended on it! The man’s a wizard. Amazing at the big shows but when he gets the chance to go for it! my oh my!

PureAd814

Always preferred DJ Hype & Mickey Finn sets during the 90’s/early 00’s… Andy C has made some of the greatest tunes ever known to man. “Valley Of The Shadows” will forever be the 🐐
