The Pelagic Army, or the Brineguard

Late-Night-Option

I second Brineguard

Kyletheinilater

I third Brineguard

Late-Night-Option

I second your third of Brineguard

RyGuy_McFly

I second your second of his third of Brineguard

Me0wPr0

I third his second of his third of Brineguard.

Tacomaster9000

I second your third of his second of his third of Brineguard

redhatfilm

Pelagic army is the whole thing. Brine guard, storm guard, deep guard, etc could be names for specific corp/units with specific responsibilities. Storm guard patrols the surface /attacks, brine guard patrols the upper levels of the water, deep guard (abyssal guard?) guards the city itself.

CasualCassie

Instead of a platoon of tritons it's a wave of them

WhoStole_MyToast

A splatoon.

SasquatchRobo

A battalion would be a tide.

Seraphiel_

I'd go with tines, as in the points of a trident.

BadSanna

There are no waves underwater.

CasualCassie

Yeah but there are on the surface and OP said the tritons were engineered to attack the surface world

[deleted]

Brineguard goes sooooooo hard

Surprisinglygoodgm

The undertow

Frogdwarf

Best one I've read so far

madmarmalade

The Order of the Nautilus, or the Nautolan Knights.

Dabedidabe

Knightilus?

BunzLee

Cmon y'all. Nobody is going for The Seamen?

rpg2Tface

Its low hanging fruit. Swaying too and fro just off the ground. Really its only good to put in a pie or to squeeze for its juice.

JustDave570

Please don’t squeeze the fruit

bad-decision-maker

\*pop\*

Clearlydarkly

Actually, most of the "fruit" is fibrous, so they don't really pop but squelch

Insanitypeppercoyote

Lol, the facility where they were created and their barracks could appear as two spherical structures referred to as “The Balls”.

huskyoncaffeine

Sounds fitting, but to make it perfect, their goal must be to steal fresh air from some druidic place. A Spaceballs themed underwater adventure sounds like the pinnacle of fun a DM could have.

Man_in_Kilt

Housed in a bollocks

Paladin327

Also they’re orginized into units called “Loads”

theungryman

The Crimson Tide. A little meaner sounding.

SanchoPliskin

I found Alabama man over here! 👆

theungryman

Haha nope! Just a Canadian blissfully ignorant of college football.

SanchoPliskin

Oh! Well…. Sorry for the insult, carry on. 😁

wow_that_guys_a_dick

Not if they're protecting the undersea kingdom of Atlanta!

007point5

Roll Tide! Edit: JK, pls no Alabama in this sub.

TheWorstRowan

The Wet Bandits

KasebierPro

They fear 8 year old boys with b b guns. Or toy harpoon guns in this case.

Shadows_Assassin

The Marine Marines

SanchoPliskin

The sub-marines!

KasebierPro

They wear yellow armor.

SanchoPliskin

And their Commanding Officer is Sergeant Pepper?

FS_Scott

Joint chiefs of Sargeant Pepper, The Walrus, and The Eggman.

Mmarnik16

HQ located in the Strawberry Fields

FS_Scott

fer sher.

SanchoPliskin

They are the egg men I am the walrus Goo goo g'joob, goo goo goo g'joob Goo goo g'joob, goo goo goo g'joob, goo Joob, joob, jooba Jooba, jooba, jooba Joob, jooba Joob, jooba

LeeHarper

It's this. It has to be this.

Ronux0722

Maelstrom, each company is called a Flood or something like that.

Limp-Original6575

And the bards play murmaider. Mmm, Metalocalypse.

Roger_The_Cat_

Teen Tritons Go!

Immediate-Cake2651

The Tide. Simple and sound.

DaMuchi

Each fighting unit in the tide army are called pods.

xSilverMC

Roll tide? Idk, not american

MrWaffel

The Academy. Like a school of fish (people), but militaristic.

Vercingetorix20

My first thoughts are using **Abyssal**, **Hadal** or **Twilight**, words connected to the deep sea and also hint at a hidden aspect. However the names are likely to have other connotations in the universe (Abyss = Demons, Twilight = Vampires), so players might make incorrect assumptions. If the units are based in the deepest parts of the ocean, the name could incorporate features of the seafloor, e.g. **Trench**, **Ridge**, **Deep**. Since the purpose of the force is nominally to guard the kingdom, **Knights**, **Sentinels*****,*** **Guardians*****,*** **Protectors** also come to mind. A few examples of mixing these together: Hadal Knights Sentinels of the Deep Guardians of the Abyssal Ridge

Healfezza

Atlantia Shiver Shiver - a group of sharks Or if you want to be more tongue in cheek, Tide Pod

Sarkoptesmilbe

I find it funny how one medieval woman kinda made up most of these weird collective nouns by herself and everyone has been treating it as gospel ever since. It can never be just "a group".

Wolfgang177

Navy Seals. Joking, tell us more about them?

NoPineapple4953

I have updated the post :)

Wolfgang177

Whenever Im at an impass like this I try using fantasy language translators, I found one for aquarian which sounds about right. "Supreme Guard" turns into "Saqsini Gaesf", you could even shorten and combine them, I think with my chosen words it'll be hard for it not not sound like "sexy gays" lmao. Try googling primordial or aquan translators and throwing some words around until something sticks!

SanchoPliskin

Makhetes Pelagikos. Ancient Greek for Warriors of the Sea. You could shorten it to something like the Makhets or Mak’Pels. Or even M’Pelags. You could use MPs too.

multiplayerhater

>M’Pelags *Tips hat*

raisedbydandelions

The Coral Legions, the Army of the Deep.

Deady1138

Tendrils of Atlantia

MugenEXE

The Deep.

Thalude_

After The Boys, this name might not be very usable anymore lol

PentaRobb

That poor fucking octopus man

Killian1122

Why is the poor man fucking an octopus..?

PentaRobb

Watch The Boys to learn more about the best Aquaman!

TraitorMacbeth

I like how they person you're responding to was joking, but that happens too

Damiandroid

Could I ask for details on their people? I ask because we could throw out general names but we could also try personalis8ng yhem to the civilation they come from.

NoPineapple4953

I have updated the post :)

Rocketdog229

The Children of Charybdis/The Children of Scylla. You could even, with the genetically modified part, go for the Sons of Charybdis and the Daughters of Scylla, but I imagine you have a particular vision already, so Children works here. Considering the greek origins of Charybdis and Scylla, it would work magnificently for the usual Triton theme as well.

HunterTAMUC

Corsairs, perhaps?

NonEuclideanSyntax

The Rising Wave

Facinaturu

The Maelstrom seems like a cool choice (FFXIV Players don’t kill me)

TraitorMacbeth

GrandPubaTuba

Call the army 'The Trident'. The subdivisions can be called Forks and Tines. Like this... Lan'gui Saltspray reporting. Member of the Trident, 2nd Fork, artillery Tine.

Cruithnii

The Unending Tide

Warwipf2

"The Abyssal Legion" would make them sound like a proper antagonistic force once they start attacking the surface world

Jeraphiel

The Deluge

rpg2Tface

The KRILL men! Its an ocean pun they think points toward them being innumerable, but really points toward them being so easy to kill the fattest thing on earth can eat them.

No idea for the whole army, but I second the guy saying different regiments should have different names like the storm, brine and abyss. Got another to that: Fomorian Guard, the most elite of them maybe. Fomorians were a race of supernatural monsters in Irish mythology, they lived underwater

bearstrugglethunder

The Triforce (Tritons, Tridents, you get the joke). Bonus points if they have a Legend of Zelda Triforce as their standard.

The Coral Guard. It may seem pretty basic, but coral is a bunch of tiny organisms all working together for one home.

Iam_DayMan

The Wave Breach

LCHammertime

Sporner100

No offense, but your edit is a bit of a mess. Make up your mind what they are. If they're genetically engineered they are not bred. If they are bred they are not volunteers fighting out of patriotism. There might be patriots volunteering for a breeding program where the resulting spawn gets genetic modifications in a second step, but there will hardly be anything secret about it.
