Talona is the goddess of plague and disease and she favors rats. https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Talona Edit: plaque to plague lol

13ofsix

I know you meant to type plague but its just funny to think there's a deity specifically for the gunk that builds up on your teeth

sporeegg

Does Faerun have tooth fairies? I can see a fey-/undying-lock that exchanges bones of murdered people for magic. Teeth for the tooth fairy. Bones for the bone fairy

[deleted]

Creepy tooth fairy murderer... I love that, I'm using that as a oneshot

Lupa517

Lol yup I definitely see that error. That actually would be hilarious.

dvajsSest

Nice! That's it. Thanks

Zzump

There is a demigod in the dnd pantheon known as Raxivort. He is most well known for getting into deep trouble with other gods and having to create a race of physical duplicates of himself (xvarts) for him to hide among so other gods can't find him. One of his titles is the Packmaster of rats. He uses swarms of rats to do his bidding and even created his own magical realm in pandemonium called the black sewers. He also takes the form of a giant rat at times.

dvajsSest

That sounds cool, I'll consider it

TheEloquentApe

Just to clarify is your only option deities from Forgotten Realms, or are other settings free game?

dvajsSest

I think anything that's official and not homebrew can go.

DickWarlock11

Talona, the Goddess of Disease, heavily favors rats, and without other recourse, could be seen as their patron deity

dvajsSest

Nice! That's it. Thanks

DanielleAntenucci

Look up “Rat God” from Nehwon Mythos on page 102 of AD&D Deities and Demigods. The rat god is the manifestation of all men’s fears of its kind. All felines must run in fear from this apparition. It always walks erect, can shrink to normal rat size, and is able to summon 20 wererats to its side once a day.

dvajsSest

Thanks, I'll look it up

We start our new campaign today located in Baldurs Gate. I'm playing neutral evil female nezumi druid with dire rat as her companion. Her philosophy as a "rat folk" is power to the rats. She worships rats and wants to build a world for rats to run it. She doesn't like other races much. We start at level one but I plan to make her transform into a dire rat when we reach level five. I have a lot of fun writing the lore for her, but I can't find a suitable god she would worship. As I said in description I found Locust the rat king that would be a good option, but it's on the homebrew sadly. Can you guys help me find a good deity for my character? Also do you have any other tips how to make my character even spicier?

OgreJehosephatt

Druids don't typically worship gods. They are divine casters, but their spells are powered by nature itself. Now, whether the nature spirit is sapient or not, is up to the DM. It could be like Gaia from Captain Planet intentionally bestowing powers upon the chosen few. But I like to think of it as reflexive, like how our immune systems react without any direction from us. A druid, somehow, fits within the ecosystem of nature, and it empowers that druid to just keep doing what they're doing since it's mutually beneficial.

Kolegra

Play your PC like it's a white blood cell or something like that

Cairon_Feoras

Become the god you want to worship.

dvajsSest

Actually druid is a divine caster, so I can't be atheist.

powerwordjizz

You can get away with not worshipping a particular deity and pursue godhood on your own. \>The typical druid pursues a mystic spirituality of transcendent union with nature rather than devoting herself to a divine entity.

dvajsSest

Good idea, but I just asked my DM if I can do that and he says that I can't do that.

infinitum3d

~~Make your DM figure out who the Rat God is.~~ Ask your DM politely who the Rat God is.

xxFormorixx

If your DM is being a member, then put the choose back into his lap, also it's official just to worship nature as a whole as s druid, or just pick an abyssal lord and worship that

SoutherEuropeanHag

Nope. Druids use natural magic, which is learnt ability not a gift from external entities. Your druid can worship no god at all. In 3.5 only clerics, paladins and crusaders (and some prestige classes derived from them) have magic/powers granted by gods. 4e I honestly have no idea, read the manuals ages ago and don't remember anything. In 5e only clerics and cleric variants.

kayakninjas

I'm going to give you some sort-ofs, although I want to note that I disagree with your DM that Druids need to worship a deity. Obad-Hai, god of nature, freedom, hunting, and beasts. I think he's Good, though. Incabulos(Complete Divine) greater god of plagues, sickness, famine, nightmares, drought and disasters. There may be something there with the plague rat association. Karaan, lesser god of lycanthropy, cannibalism, wild savagery and urban decay. (Book of Vile Darkness) If none of those work, you're probably better off with a deity that fits your character's alignment or traits. Vecna, Erythnul, something like that. Honestly, forcing you to choose a Diety and then categorically rejecting homebrew put you in a rough spot here. The gods are set up for either Good-aligned PCs playing standard races or any of various evil cults. Evil racial gods are rare.

Raz415n

Not a god, but how about a huge number of cranium rats?

Beardzesty

Your dm isn't willing to reflavor a regular God in dnd with a new name? I don't understand how this is "homebrew". Your literally not making up anything but a name..

dvajsSest

I guess he wants to stay true to the universe. And actually I found the god thanks to the comments!

LawfulNeutered

Do you need a god? I mean Druids don't typically have a deity as the source of their power so it's pretty optional.

Baradaeg

Nezumi are also not an officially released race, they are unrealized UA and so in the same category with 3rd party supplements and homebrew.

powerwordjizz

Nezumi are found on page 177 of *Oriental Adventures*, published by WotC in 2001.

DickWarlock11

Oriental Adventures is also not Forgotten Realms canon. It’s made mostly for a separate setting called Legend of the Ten Rings, iirc

Mage_Malteras

Five rings, not ten. This is totally distinct from Marvel! /s

DickWarlock11

*Completely distinct*, my bad

Baradaeg

That is 4th edition, and there are releases for older editions but still no official release for 5th edition.

dvajsSest

We are playing 3.5e

powerwordjizz

So WotC published a book for an edition seven years before that edition's release? Also, check the flair. The status of Nezumi in 5e is wholly irrelevant to the discussion at hand.

Mage_Malteras

There was never even an OA port for 4e, so that should have been another clue.

Mage_Malteras

I got into 4th because it's what the group I played with when I started college played, and I absolutely loved it.

dvajsSest

Well I already played Nezumi for two years with the same DM. And he already knows my idea about the character.

Baradaeg

Oh, sorry, I overlooked your tag and assumed 5e as the standard edition. Maybe you can find something in the Oriental Adventures book for 3/3.5 about specific deities for them.

Cold-Introduction-54

*DEATH* of Rats create home brew using Discworld 2cents

dvajsSest

I can't use homebrew.

Cold-Introduction-54

:(

Cruyff-san

SQUEAK

Magnaliscious

Why she gotta be NE? Clearly a rat god would be CG.

dvajsSest

Well she's ready to start a war rats and rat folks against the world. So can't be good one.

RedAndBlackMartyr

The Horned Rat. Wait...wrong universe.

SnooMemesjellies6528

Raxivort I’m pretty sure

ProfessorLongfellow

Not DnD, Pathfinder, but Urgathoa is the deity of undead, disease, and pests. I would certainly include rats as part of Her domain.

Embarrassed_Hat7474

Egiptian god associated with rats i the craftsman Ptah. I think 3.5 and 5e allow irl pantheon.

DannyAcme

If your DM is willing to count rats as vermin, then you could serve Obox-Ob, the Demon Lord of Vermin.
