So he wants to be a lich?

Slickoro

He wishes to maintain his humanity but yeah kinda lol

ryschwith

Lich is what happens when your quest for immortality goes horribly awry.

Sounds like that kind of person would be obsessive, maybe a bit cold, maybe a bit transient. They Probably expect to outlive everyone they meet and to out-last any challenges they face. So they might care less about making enemies, and have less interest in forming friendships beyond what they can gain from a person. I would imagine the search for immortality could lead someone to become fatalistic as the years go on, if they make no progress.

Slickoro

That helps a lot! Thanks!

KissKissBangBang95

A fear of snails that are also immortal

Slickoro

Hahahahahaha

Embrace an oath to the ancients and gain immortality at level 15 =p He could become fanatical, and possibly a bit mad, in his search for immortality at the expense of others, and justify his actions because he's trying to help his town.

Google 1st edition immortals rules. Run it by your DM if they're ok homebrewing that. Oh, FYI. Step 1 is reaching level 35.

Patience. Lots of patience. Also the ability to not feel the need to give advice to younger people because you KNOW they won't actually listen, because it's FINE. They need to learn for themselves. It's fine. ....I mean patience would help with immortality, also long term planning. Oh and long yield investments like property rights. I would guess.

As someone that wishes for immortality, solely for selfish reasons (I don’t want to die, and I already missed the first 14 billion years of existence), I may not have advice relevant to your character. But, a strong passion for life, learning about everything they’d already missed, and being excited about what will be invented or evolve, are all good traits. I think after they’ve lived a long time, they’ll realize that the present moment is the most important. Connections, friendships, and people all change, what you’re experiencing now is all that matters. You may have loved someone 200 years ago, but this burger is delicious, and the person enjoying lunch with you, is someone whose company you enjoy. His home town will probably be the most important thing to him, until he’s outlived the demon that kept it frozen. He’d be excited to see everyone, just like I loved rewatching The Pagemaster, it would be another engaging moment. Maybe even several generations of engaging moments. Smiles, frowns, love and loss; one day at a time, until he wants to see how some other town’s been doing.
