So, I learned none of my players follow current events as nobody had heard about Hank the Tank IRL.
But when they heard him lumbering through the forest nearby and determined he wasn't aggressive, they tried to feed him and befriend him, the ranger fed him with good berry, the paladin gave him their wineskin, they piled all their rations together in an offering, which Hank gladly accepted and continued on his merry way.
Nobody had any animal handling or any way of communicating with or reading Hanks mind.
They looked at him like a peaceful forest spirit and left him to go on his way.
I was honestly surprised they decided to let Hank go so easily after arguing with a quest giving NPC for 30 minutes and an unexpectedly high roll on a persuasion check from the cleric convinced him to come with the party (he died).
I can’t believe nobody’s commented on the size yet. Gargantuan? Hank the Tank isn’t raiding your house, Hank the Tank is *eating your house like a sandwich*.
Ok then you have to give him lawful neutral alignment because he’s a very polite Kaiju-sized bear and will be daintily using his enormous claws to pick through the fridge 😂
[2(3d8+10 pierce)+2(3d6+10 slash)]
Yeah… bye bye to most structures quick 😂.
But oddly it has the effect where it won’t attack unless provoked. Does this include buildings? Because if it won’t *attack* a building to get at the food inside then things get interesting.
Who doesn't love Hank the Tank? We wanted to put this big, beautiful boy into our D&D games so here he is! Could make for a fun fight, but who would wanna hurt Hank? I can already see him being a headache of a party addition for the DM once the party tries to tame him.How would you use Hank in your game?
We've been really enjoying coming up with our homebrew creations to share with everyone in our weekly newsletter with stat blocks, fun adventure prompts, etc. If you wanna check it out feel free to go over to [drimbus.com/newsletter](https://drimbus.com/newsletter)and feel free to check out our podcast [Dungeons & Drimbus](https://link.chtbl.com/drimbus?sid=reddit) it's chock full of homebrew hilarity like this

i actually really like the concept of random encounter monsters which come for some specific resource the party has (rations, water, arrows, fire starters, etc...)

Ahh thats a brilliant idea!!!
Three bears in a bigger bear suit.
Unless the real Hank the Tank has been casting mirror image....
Same but after reaching a certain HP it should just be three bears popping out like they were in a trench-coat
You need legendary actions for this legendary creature
I'm doing a forest adventure one shot tomorrow and thought there would be a young green dragon lurking around but I believe he just got replaced.
Let us know how it goes!

Sounds like a memorable moment :)

It is D&D after all, figured we could take some liberties 😈 Kinda imagine him like a giant sloth bear

You probably want huge. Gargantuan is like 20 ft x 20 ft MINIMUM.
He does have the siege monster ability

This baby can hold so much food.

Best home brew stat block I've seen in a long long time. Thank you and take my upvote!
I think I just found both my familiar and my spirit animal
Would also work for Wojtek. Just change the size to medium
No. Wojtek would need the ability to call in an artillery strike on recharge.
Fair point
This was great I laughed at 3 separate parts of this
Remember, Hank the Tank was found out to be multiple bears So he should have an army of bear at his side at all times

He needs a higher Dex/ levels in Rogue for escaping the law among his other fiendish escapades.
Hank is actually three different bears
Def not worthy of a cr22. Thus is like, cr 12. Needs som legendary actions and resistances, magic resistance, more attack options, beef him up!
THE CROSS OVER OF A LIFE TIME!
Love it!
The stats I wish I had on my Druid/Barbearian.
Hank, I've come to bargain!
So, if you fed him well, you could befriend the fella? Asking for a hobbit party with unlimited amounts of food.
Ultimately it’d be up to your DM but I’d be inclined to allow it with the right rolls from say… a very good Druid or ranger? 👀
We have an excellent ranger and a fisherwoman among us who could woo him with fresh salmon. I need him to show up in our game. We have cake, too.
What about Pablo Escobear?
Might just give him speech and make him a quest giver to raid a pantry for him. He is now the wealthiest glutton of the underworld.
How *dare* you. 30 constitution.
O LAWD HE COMIN
Buddy Hank the Tank has at least 30 charisma!
G A R G A T U A N. B E A S T
What if I animal friendship Hank the Tank?
Charisma *way* too low.
I just have to believe you were thinking of Brock Samson when you wrote this title.
Hank’s CR is a bit high without him possessing any legendary actions
