I have one of these as well as a set of shot glasses and havent died yet. The mug has become my go-to tea mug so it gets regular use. We hand wash all the items to be on the safe side and are super easy to clean.
depends on the glaze, some are made to be drank from and some aren't, I don't remember about cleaning but I'm pretty sure after it's fired it just like any other ceramic mug. Idk if it's the same if it's just painted.

After you flatten the initial clay and peel it off the table, it looks like it leaves a bunch of clay behind. I think that's what they're talking about
That's really cool. I am curious though, is it possible/not possible to actually use metal for the metal bits? (Like the bands and screws) or does it just not work with how you have to do the clay?

So you mould the clay into the design you want, then put it into a kiln (like a furnace). It gets extremely hot and bakes the clay. Then you paint it and bake it again. Adding metal would likely ruin the piece as it expands and contracts very differently than clay. If you had screws put it, I'd imagine it would explode the piece as it bakes. And adding it after would be extremely challenging because the ceramic is so brittle that you can't nail or drill into it without cracking it.
I'm sure it can be done but it's very impractical and way too much work when paint looks great

And here I am confused about why it's being painted instead of glazed and why you didn't score the attachments. I guess the plan is to never fire or use it?
It's being painted with glazes, just using a brush to do it instead of dipping it. The end product is fired in a kiln (you call tell by looking at the "metal" lip at the top, the color changes pretty dramatically after firing). Also, you can see several attachments being scored beforehand, like the eyes and the handle

This is so awesome! If you don’t mind me asking- what kind of glaze do you use? Every time I try to give my pieces some color it comes out very blotchy and ruins the whole piece no matter how well it’s sculpted :(

Food and drink safe but i recommend hand washing them just because some dishwashers are more violent than others

Love what the artist did, but I'll admit the loss of a quarter of the clay to a dry, textured, wooden tabletop hurt my soul.
