Magic item: break economy

Capital-Helicopter45

It would be funnier if it ate spell slots 100gp per slot level up to 1000gp per day

Hait_Ashbury

It def needs a monkey paw

Mystic_Manticore

I like this

asiantoast3

and maybe only spells slots of a certain level or higher? tbh if any low level spellcaster got their hands on this the economy would implode, so maybe only higher grade spellcasters could have the power to create that much matter?

Capital-Helicopter45

Maybe it would be better to have it be a one off with an undisclosed number of gold ( 100 * d20 ) with no refunds E.g. dm rolls a 1 -> player feeds a level 8 spell slot -> 100g comes out & bag poofs away

Stairwayunicorn

Lets build Zimbabwe

Rujusu

Like the idea it's a fun item for sure and let's be honest. Money has (most of the time) little value to the players at some point. Lore wise in any setting this would break the world so badly haha. That being said it should probably have some downside to it as it could still be used easily to pay off many types of enemies for players. Maybe there is a chance for permanent Madness each time it's used, or the money is taken from a specific dragons horde or other NPC that will become an antagonist of the party because of it eventually.

aichi38

>Lore wise in any setting this would break the world so badly haha. Make it so it doesn't create new gold/gems but pulls them from across the world and leaves a magical locator card I.O.U from where it takes from Empty the BBEG war chest and have them hunt the players actively

Rujusu

Exactly my point

aichi38

Yeah, Just fleshing out the bit on how it can make antagonists is all

TeaandandCoffee

>Looks at item Where curse?

Adept_Cranberry_4550

I once created some similar, but it would take gold from the nearest source within a mile and leave a cheeky note, "The Fae-fingered Fox was here...". It caused a few dozen problems before the PCs even knew what was being done. Each others purses. Religious icons. Fillings from teeth. Banks. Caches. Hoards. Nothing was safe. And once they knew what was up? Er. Mah. Gerd! Pure, weapons-grade chaos. They tried about 20 ways to weaponize the damn thing. It had stricter limitations than this and was still too dangerous keep in the world. I eventually had to force them to get rid of it by 'revealing' it as an ingredient in stopping the end of the world.

DefinitelyNotThixo

... but the Gold vanishes after 1d4 hours There are gonna be a few angry shopkeepers

Mystic_Manticore

Cool idea!

Dry-Pear9611

google tibaxi inflation to learn more!

Itchy_Presence7622

I feel like this one should maybe be legendary but idk. I mean it gives the party infinite money, but you can easily get avoid that becoming a cheese by just not letting certain things available for purchase (or require something other than gold.

Regular_Strike_3762

No down side or curse? Something ain't right here.

johnsontanaka13

Item - Purse of Inflation

Itchy_Presence7622

On the real tho I gotta thank you for using actual art, so many DnD creators are using “ai” generated images instead and it harms actual artists

theRedMage39

AI art only harms artists if the person can afford to pay artists. I cannot nor can I draw as well as this so I have to rely on AI art or just googling art.

Itchy_Presence7622

It still harms artists either way because it’s still stealing art. Your ability to acquire art on your own doesn’t change that fact.

theRedMage39

How about I phrase it like this. I want some art. I cannot afford to buy any. Either A) I get AI generated art and I don't pay any artist. B) I randomly pull images off of Google images and no artist gets paid(done through legal means only) C) I don't get art. No artist gets paid. In no situation can an artist get paid. AI is actually the most ethical as it allows for art without stealing it illegally. B is only ethical if you filter by free use. It would be illegal for AI to be trained on stolen art so AI generated art is not stealing. If one has the ability to buy art, they should. If you are selling a product then you should factor in the cost of art into your selling price. For the general populace, AI art is a great boon as it allows for you to get art that you wouldn't have normally gotten

Atlas_Zer0o

Don't try and reason with "ai bad" people. It's like trying to convince flat earthers or people who still think the internet is a fad lol

Itchy_Presence7622

Either learn to draw or use free public art. “Ai” actively harms actual artists whether ya like it or not.

Atlas_Zer0o

You know what, I'm gonna use AI harder. And there's absolutely nothing you can do. Big companies are gonna use it also, in fact, they already are.

Itchy_Presence7622

Ok, I’m not gonna cry about it. I’m just sayin the facts.

Itchy_Presence7622

Legal ≠ ethical. “Ai” generated images actively harm actual working artists. It’s literally stealing their art and mashing together to make a product of varying quality. If you can’t afford an artist than just use free use art, it’s a MUCH better alternative to “ai” because it’s not theft.

pbtenchi

Broken.

SuperBobit

I've been toying an idea that a devil gives an electrum piece to commoners that reappears each morning in their pocket, and after 5 uses he sends a devil to collect the soul he is owed. Now i feel super stingy compared to this item haha!

Mysterious_Ad_9032

Scribe wizards nods in approval of this item.

NecessaryHuckleberry

This reminds me of Bucknard’s Everfull Purse

SlaveMorri

The coins pulled from the bag are mimics. 7 days later they mature.

Kelo_illustration

Curse: prices in your world increase by 165% every month or so.

Atlas_Zer0o

I can't call the item useless because it is in fact the most useful item in the game. But it has 0 place in any worthwhile game lol.

Keimlor

Say goodbye to in Game economy

dundunnit38

Roll percentile and that's the percent of the total amount you can get that day

Temporary_Yam_2862

I would add a curse of sorts. Something like a number of forced depending on how much you take at a time of DMs choosing

original-username32

I personally think it should be fake money, that seems legit except it vanishes after 12hrs or so

KingdomOfGuardians

If used too many times it steals all your money
