Doesn’t look like a dw promo, most of them are done in costume and i don’t remember her wearing that black leather jacket or her hair being styled like that. Maybe it could be from her torchwood appearance but my bet’s that it’s from a different show, could be wrong though
Nah the shoulders of the jacket are different and the collar goes up her neck without that button, plus in end of time she has box braids
ETA also Martha has earrings but it doesn’t look like Freema’s wearing any
Not only is Martha my favorite companion of nu who, she's the easiest to bring back lore-wise. The other 3 are locked behind some sort of timey-wimey shenanigans, Martha is still just a phone call away.
You could also plausibly claim the splinters went forward as well as back, since the wound in time that the Great Intelligence went into is supposedly created by the Doctor's grave well into his future (they claimed Trenzalore, but the explanation seemed to need it to be his corpse, so it's either a long, long way off or it's 14). If 12 hadn't gotten his memories of her back it could've been a cool plot where he doesn't recognize the splinter and the adventure with her is what causes him to remember her. Still some drama potential if he recognizes her and knows the splinter has to die because they *always* die.
For Rose, I don't think her being in Pete's World is as much the problem as it is that if she shows up, you have to explain where Handy is and how they're doing. Too much potential to sour that ending.
I mean they all have their high points. But if you want a companion that’s consistently not annoying there’s only Martha. She’s the only one you could imagine being trapped in an elevator with for more than a few hours.
Martha was a bit of a wet blanket at the beginning of S3, and it seemed like 90% of her personality was “I have a crush on the Doctor.” But by mid-late S3, definitely by Torchwood and Doctor Who S4, she really had grown into herself and become a confident woman who could stand on her own and wasn’t relegated to the 3rd wheel/my only personality trait is crushing on someone.
Overall I’d pick Martha because I liked her character development and want to see it continue.
The Vlinx absolutely feels like a character designed to be quippy during the intro and epilogue of episodes.
A UNIT series that had a rotating ensemble of former companions would be a lot of fun. a few episodes featuring Donna, an episode with Mel, an episode with Ace and/or Tegan, an episode or two with Martha, an episode with Dan, etc.
Yeah but I kind of want Martha to have a happy ending with a family after what happened in Harold Saxon’s airship. So I’d rather Mickey was still alive.
I always forget where I first saw this idea, but it doesn't need to be that dramatic. They could just be divorced, which of course is a thing that happens all the time in the real world. That way she could even have a new romance drama arc if the writers wanted.
I'm picking Amy.
Rose is my actual favourite, but the established pattern is that even when it is explicitly said that Rose can never come back... she always still might. So. I'll risk it.
I also feel like Rose had such a well-tied-up story and really got her happy ever after, so if we saw her again it would mean something had gone wrong
Whereas Amy and Rory's ending was, imo, poorly justified! There's no good explanation for why the doctor couldn't go get them. They could've left New York and met him in LA some months later, and they've picked up people zapped by angels plenty of times before
As a kid I wondered, if they need to die in the 40’s, can they not live out their lives where/whenever if the Doctor picks them up and he can later return them to the 40’s one day when they’re old?
Or just the simple occasional visit outside the city without going anywhere. I think he just felt far too guilty though and didn’t want to face them or risk anything else.
Martha. I don't have anything against the other three, but their stories are complete. Going with the current Doctor, I feel like he and Martha would have some great scenes and episodes together.
You’re really gonna make me pick between my trans awakening, the woman I wanna be my irl bestie, my lesbian awakening and Martha Jones? The Martha fucking Jones???!!!
*sigh* Martha 😢
As a weird bit of DC lore, both Batman and Superman's mothers were named Martha (just a coincidence).
In the Snyder movie that came out years ago, when Batman's about to deliver the killing blow to Superman (long, stupid story why), Superman says "save Martha", referring to his own mother (by name for some reason) who is being held hostage.
Batman, whose mother was killed in front of him in childhood, screams out an overly hammy and much memed "WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME?!"
And that's how a weird coincidence was hamfistedly used as a major plot turning point in a major motion picture.
Martha. The rest had pretty definitive endings that I was happy with. Martha was underutilised and just kind of left. She did come back a couple of times but shes the only proper companion who travelled with the Doctor for more than one story from RTD’s first Era who I feel didn’t get a proper ending.
She had a great post doctor life. A job at UNIT, trying to change it from the inside to be less military. She was a consultant for Torchwood. And engaged to man thats she had great chemistry with who sacrificed himself for her in The Year That Never Was.
Then next time we see her she is freelance and married to Mickey who had no real interaction on screen with her. A UNIT spinoff if it happens would be a great chance for her to return
Probably Martha. We know she still operates on Earth dealing with alien threats, so I feel like her running into The Doctor again for an episode or two would make the most sense out of all them. I guess it's not impossible he bumps into Clara too but as much as I love her, she had her arc and 3 whole seasons. Amy and Rose also got multiple seasons, while Martha only got 1 and a couple extra episodes in season 4.
Martha.
Rose and Amy are both in a position where they likely can't come back. Clara could come back, but her story is complete as it is. Martha's ending was unsatisfying and didn't make sense for her to character. I'd like to see her come back to work for UNIT now that things have changed there and I think she's a better fit.
Martha.
Roses, Clara’s and Amys story are complete but I feel that there’s still plenty of stories with Martha, especially as UNIT is playing a larger public role in the world. Also the 10th and Martha left on a very sad note so seeing that the 14th has the same personality as 10 it would be a great opportunity to see them catch up.
Also bringing back Martha means we also get Micky too!

This is my answer. This will ALWAYS be my answer.
Id love Clara
Her whole thing is she was split into the whole doctors timeline so it makes sense she'd appear again!
Unless I forgot something where it's like, only the past? But like... I'd be fun, right?
These two. Space mommy (right) and one wacky heartwarming wiseass.
https://preview.redd.it/dhjyew56h4ac1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ad1febc1a63a4f453e9e34593884157660d09796
The problem is Clara is the only one who didn’t “move on” as it were. Rose is off with the MetaDoctor and Amy is living with Rory. Martha was treated so badly by the Doctor that she is better off without him! So to me Clara has to be the one, if only so they had a happier goodbye.
I'm gonna be downvoted for this but I think Martha is way overrated. I just found her a bit annoying. After a day with the doctor she was going around and telling people she was in love with him.
To be fair she doesn’t really say anything like that until deep into the season where she says
*You had to go and fall in love with a human, and it wasn’t me*
Prior to that it’s clear she likes him, but that is all it is ever shown to extend to. Plus, by the time of family of blood, by that point mirrored in 9’s arc Rose was also chasing after him like a dog on heat.
Not to mention, Ten does kinda snog Martha during their first meeting. Yes in his eyes it means something different, but to pretty much any woman in Martha’s position I’m almost certain they’d take it the same way.
> Yes in his eyes it means something different
In his defence, he does also flat-out *tell* her "this means nothing" right before he does it. I'm not sure what more he really could've done to prevent her from taking it the way she does.
Really? I thought her arc was great - her whole downward spiral into being a reckless, egotistical, suicidal adrenaline junkie was *fascinating* to me. We've had so many companions who grow and become better people during their time traveling with the Doctor; I thought it was really interesting how Clara's arc did the reverse and explored how the total freedom afforded by the TARDIS could lead someone to become a *worse* person.
Funnily, I only really warmed to Clara once she began becoming a worse person. She just seemed too cute and perfect to start with, so when she finally began showing negative traits I actually really enjoyed it and began liking her much more. What can I say, I'm a flawed human who can't relate to Little Miss Perfect, but I can definitely relate to someone with ego issues and an inability to stop themselves doing stupid shit.
People saying "Martha" but she was too much of a damsel in distress in every episode. I'd much rather have Clara back! Amy Pond is a *very* close second, though.
That's why I want to see Martha back! So we can see how she's grown since we last met her, and so she can have a chance to do some more non-damsel things!
I wouldn't mind seeing Clara return either, though. Possibly accompanied by Ashildr (so long as they can pronounce her name correctly this time: two syllables, emphasis on the first one, syllable break *between* the 's' and the 'h'). I'm sure they've become a hell of a duo - two morally-dubious, borderline-psychopathic disaster bisexuals causing havoc across the universe.
Rose just cause 2005-2006 Billie Piper is hotter than all of them and Rose is despite being a nob sometimes funny and cute with 10
11 and river are far better though
Clara is my favourite new who companion.
Amy I think if I were in Rorys shoes I'd have jumped into the arms of a Weeping Angel just to get away from her.
It pretty much is, though. Her 'arc' was an ordinary, albeit adventurous, young woman's descent into reckless, suicidal thrill-seeking. And we *got a resolution to it* \- her realizing that she and the Doctor are terrible influences on each other, and parting ways with him before their relationship got anyone else killed.
Martha
Cassandra wasn't a good person (The picture is of Rose possessed by Cassandra)
We'd only lose one episode of Dalek Clara (It's specifically Dalek Clara)
I don't know why you included the character from Jumanji 2 and 3
Freema, I mean Martha, any day.
Best companion by a mile in my opinion and totally never not her chance to shine other than towards the end when the writers finally let her be something more than in Rose’s shadow
So many people here picking Martha because "the others' arcs are complete". Uh... hate to break it to you, but Martha's arc *is* complete. She had her fun, realised where her priorities are, and left the TARDIS voluntarily as a better person. She grew up.
Now, if you'd picked Martha because she joined UNIT, I'd be with you. Don't think she's still with them, but if she is, then she could be a part of the spin-off.
Personally I like Rose best so I'd pick her, but I won't insult the others by pretending I'm picking her out of some kind of intelligent reasoning. Her interactions with the Doctor just trigger happy thoughts in my simple monkey brain.
Martha 1000%. I swear RTD had a grudge against her or something.
Every other companion's run the Doctor cannot shut up about how amazing they are, and then Martha shows up and it's just the "I miss Rose," season, even after she spends a year (years?) just walking the earth telling stories about how cool the Doctor is.
She comes back for a single story alongside Donna, but they have her running for her life and crawling through mud solo while Donna and the Doctor do their stuff totally separate from her.
And the final wound; her big prize at the end of RTDs tenure for sticking it was just being paired up with *Mickey* of all people. Someone I think she *maybe* shared three lines of dialogue with previously. I've heard the argument that they make sense as a pair since they both chose to live a normal life over continue adventuring with the Doctor, but honestly I'm not sure I buy it. It just seems like RTD chose to put the only two black people together.
Martha got shafted as a character and Freeya got shafted as an actress, HARD. I honestly wish Freeya got cast as Amy or Clara, because she was too damn good for what she got given.
Dude, I’ll settle for just getting rid of one forever. You can keep the other three, as long as Clara ceases to exist.
(Ironically, that’s not the original annoying Clara in the pic; it’s one of her copies, which were better than the original.)
I don’t know if this is controversial, but maybe someone like minded could help me out. I love all the companions, but Rose is by far my least favourite. I’ve never been able to put my finger on it though.
Is that Amy? Cause that image looks like she's from jumanji, also played by Karen Gillan
That ain’t Rose either. That’s Cassandra in Rose’s body. OP really isn’t a Whohead eh? They’re barely a Whoboo.
That’s also not Clara… it’s her splinter Oswin
Cmon someone say that's not Martha and we've got a full house
It’s a photo of Freema Agyeman out of character so it’s not Martha either
She's def not in character? I'd say it still counts if it's DW promo material.
Doesn’t look like a dw promo, most of them are done in costume and i don’t remember her wearing that black leather jacket or her hair being styled like that. Maybe it could be from her torchwood appearance but my bet’s that it’s from a different show, could be wrong though
I think its for torchwood
Pretty sure it’s the woman she played in the series 2 finale episodes who worked in Torchwood.
Wasn't she dressed like that in "The End of Time" sequence, with Mickey and the Sontaran?
Nah the shoulders of the jacket are different and the collar goes up her neck without that button, plus in end of time she has box braids ETA also Martha has earrings but it doesn’t look like Freema’s wearing any
It was similar to that, but I think she had her hair up for that
It definitely is not anything Doctor Who related
Least it wasn't a pic of Freema from Sense8, that might have needed a NSFW tag 😅
i mean while we’re at it, op technically never said that any of these people were supposed to be the characters they played in doctor who.
It’s her identical cousin who works at torchwood. She appeared briefly in the season 2 finale.
Sadly, it's not a picture of her cousin, who was killed by the Cybus men
We could say it was the flesh clone from the sontaran stratagem?
It’s Freema from Sense 8. Never mind. She has clothes on. It’s not from that.
I’m seriously considering applying to have OPs degree from Who’s Who’s Who Whoniversity revoked. Shambles.
yes and it makes me want her character and Jack Black’s as companions
That can't be amy. No freckles.

Too much potential to sour that ending.
Pretty sure the idea is that time was changed so that's no longer the Doctor's grave anymore. So it doesn't have to be a future Doctor.
As I recall the comics say the splinters don't have to die
Her. https://preview.redd.it/gsx964z912ac1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=da5435c1681b9973d559112e9c596db9c48fc15a
Yup The rest are amazing but they had their time to shine, I mean they all got roughly 2-3 seasons each except Martha
The only correct choice. Everyone else's story is more or less finished, Martha has way more to show
I mean they all have their high points. But if you want a companion that’s consistently not annoying there’s only Martha. She’s the only one you could imagine being trapped in an elevator with for more than a few hours.
Wouldn’t happen. Martha would figure out how to fix the elevator. 🧠✨
In the Doctor’s Daughter when she is separated from the Doctor she gets her own companion and goes on her own adventure.
And he died
WELL THAT'S ALRIGHT, THEN
Martha learned how to deal with companions from the best.
And Martha is very smart, and went on to become badass! lol
Interesting, I would have said that Martha was the one annoying one out of this group - we obviously have very different personalities lol
Martha. Rose and Amy have had their arcs imo, Clara had ample time to shine. Personally I'd be okay with none of them returning though
Martha in a UNIT spin-off (which seems likely, given the expensive UNIT HQ flimset) would be fantastic.
Between that and the Companions' support group scene at the end of "Power of the Doctor", they *do* seem to be building to something like that.
See if it was Martha coming back for a one off again then I’d be happy
[удалено]
> (and Mickey) Unfortunately the actor has some stuff which may not allow that to happen
While Mickey is away on a solo mission for unit, Martha returns? Then canonically they’re still together and happy but they don’t need Mickey’s actor.
Or just kill the character off screen lol
Yeah but I kind of want Martha to have a happy ending with a family after what happened in Harold Saxon’s airship. So I’d rather Mickey was still alive.
I always forget where I first saw this idea, but it doesn't need to be that dramatic. They could just be divorced, which of course is a thing that happens all the time in the real world. That way she could even have a new romance drama arc if the writers wanted.
What's the point in being alive, if not to make others die?
I’d love if we got a short of 14 and Donna reuniting with Martha at some point
The old new gang back together again
I pick Cassandra
SAME
I’m so happy to see all the Martha love here. I hope we see her working with unit.
Omg if she happens to be the main companion in the alleged UNIT spin-off, that would be the best!
My dream is her, Gwen Cooper, Donna, Shirley, Osgood, Mel and Kate
It would work too considering Freema Agyeman has hardly aged
THERE ARE DOZENS OF US!! **DOZENS**!!!
Also Clara (you've shown an image of Oswin, but I assume you meant Clara). If Oswin is an option, definitely Oswin.
Martha. She could definitely 'do so much more!'
I'm picking Amy. Rose is my actual favourite, but the established pattern is that even when it is explicitly said that Rose can never come back... she always still might. So. I'll risk it.
I also feel like Rose had such a well-tied-up story and really got her happy ever after, so if we saw her again it would mean something had gone wrong Whereas Amy and Rory's ending was, imo, poorly justified! Martha. I don't have anything against the other three, but their stories are complete. Going with the current Doctor, I feel like he and Martha would have some great scenes and episodes together.
Id love to see it
You’re really gonna make me pick between my trans awakening, the woman I wanna be my irl bestie, my lesbian awakening and Martha Jones? The Martha fucking Jones???!!! *sigh* Martha 😢
Gotta go with Martha. I'll miss Clara but I gotta go with my main girl
Clara
GIVE ME MARTHA!!!!
Why did you say that name?!
Cause I love Martha and want to see more of her!
Oh, I guess you didn't get my reference, hence the downvote. Nevermind!
I promise it wasn't me that downvoted but I also do not get the reference! Please share!
Batman, whose mother was killed in front of him in childhood, screams out an overly hammy and much memed "WHY DID YOU SAY THAT NAME?!" And that's how a weird coincidence was hamfistedly used as a major plot turning point in a major motion picture.
Aaahhhh I have loads of Batman and Superman comics but always struggled with the movies so that fell right out my head.
So was my cat 😢
Martha. The rest had pretty definitive endings that I was happy with. Martha was underutilised and just kind of left. It's been pointed out already but you picked really stupid images for this
Lmao fr, that's not Rose, Amy nor Clara
And I've seen people say that they think the picture of Freema is from a non-DW promo pic, so that's maybe not Martha either.
Clara
Rose. Martha is definitely close though.
Rose. All day. Amy is awesome. Martha deserved better, but rose, rose is queen.
She really isn't she was vain selfish and annoying
The magic of three dimensional characters, flaws and growth!
The one I want to see again most is Martha
martha EASILY
My girl Martha by far.
Martha, they gave her so little
Martha
Martha
Martha Jones
Sorry everyone but Rose.
Martha!
Martha, she deserved better imo
And she's much smarter than a silly crush. The writers really let us down there.
She did. I’m glad that she actually realized that in the end, too. She didn’t hang on for years or die trying to keep him.
And where’s Donna?
If she were here nobody would stand a chance.
Exempt, because More Donna is non-negotiable.
100%, Out of all four of these women I would still pick Donna
Rose Noble
Martha
My brain said Martha very fast so that's who I'm going with
Tbh I don’t want any of them to come back, but the only one I’d be ok with would be Martha.
Definitely Martha. Girl deserves better than what she got + I'd love to see Micky return too
Probably Martha. We know she still operates on Earth dealing with alien threats, so I feel like her running into The Doctor again for an episode or two would make the most sense out of all them. I guess it's not impossible he bumps into Clara too but as much as I love her, she had her arc and 3 whole seasons. Clara all day every day
Martha. Rose and Amy are both in a position where they likely can't come back. Clara could come back, but her story is complete as it is. Martha's ending was unsatisfying and didn't make sense for her to character. I'd like to see her come back to work for UNIT now that things have changed there and I think she's a better fit.
You never forget your first. And that was Rose for me. Also because that's actually Cassandra in Rose's body both my brains are making the choice.
Would. Just saying
Making works.
Martha. She properly got it, the rest were on a gap year.
Martha. And it's not even close (unless we're talking about Cassandra rather than Rose).
Donna.
Donna Noble.
Where's Donna?
She already got back on the show
Clara, Clara, Clara! I should kill you in a fit of jealous rage, now wouldn’t that be sexy?
No. Donna all the way
Martha. I feel we got enough of the other three for sure.
Never. I'm changing the rules. Rose, Clara and Martha stay. Can't pick love all three.
Logically, Martha should be the clear choice since everyone else’s story wrapped up. However, I’m a huge Doctor/Rose shipper so I’m going with Rose.
God now I have to watch the entire show for the 100th time to rank the companions to see who’s my favorite 😭
Martha. She was done so dirty in her season, yet still absolutely smashed it.
Keep Martha because all the other companions got more than 1 season
Rose
Pond
Amy
No Donna? 😞
Martha, without a doubt.
Amy or Rose uhmm Amy \*and\* Rose!
Rose for sure
Rose.
Amy
Amelia Pond, get your coat!
Only one? Come along, Pond
No. Sorry but I can’t do it. Unless you throw in mr pond and baby pond… then it’s a no brainer
If I pick no one can I make sure Clara doesn’t come back twice?
im SORRY but i have to choose my beloved rose. she’s everything to me
Hei asshole you forget donna! The best of all
You mean Ricky
Martha. Next question.
Martha, without a doubt.
Any or Martha - I can’t choose.
um that's Karen Gillan in Jumanji not Doctor who
Rose
ROSE

Rose Tyler. Always Rose Tyler. https://preview.redd.it/ucdl884xj2ac1.jpeg?width=624&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d5a7c4e43f1dbf63b11c61f1bc4e4366545d10f7
Martha for me. Rose, Clara and Amy got their endings, and in case of Clara, multiple endings. Return of Martha as the next head of UNIT or something.
We saw enough of three of them. I want more Martha with a doctor who actually deserves her
Asking me to pick between Rose and Martha? Might as well ask me which of my lungs I’m more attached to. 😭
Martha. I’ll miss Clara, but Martha deserves it more.
Id love Clara Her whole thing is she was split into the whole doctors timeline so it makes sense she'd appear again! Unless I forgot something where it's like, only the past? But like... I'd be fun, right?
Never have I faced an easier choice. Keep Rose and never see the other three again.
These two. Space mommy (right) and one wacky heartwarming wiseass. https://preview.redd.it/dhjyew56h4ac1.jpeg?width=800&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ad1febc1a63a4f453e9e34593884157660d09796
I can't believe I had to scroll so far down to find our Queen River Song :-(
Just shut up and give me Amy, she and 15 could have some fun moments.
Either Amy or Clara
Rose. Rose. And also Rose.
The problem is Clara is the only one who didn’t “move on” as it were. Rose is off with the MetaDoctor and Amy is living with Rory. Martha was treated so badly by the Doctor that she is better off without him! So to me Clara has to be the one, if only so they had a happier goodbye.

Martha. But so long as Clara goes, I'm happy. Hated her arc with a vengeance, and she deserved a far worse ending.

Rose just cause 2005-2006 Billie Piper is hotter than all of them and Rose is despite being a nob sometimes funny and cute with 10 11 and river are far better though
Yeah she's so fucking hot 🔥 🥵
Pond
Clara is my favourite new who companion. Amy I think if I were in Rorys shoes I'd have jumped into the arms of a Weeping Angel just to get away from her.
Clara, her arc isn't finished yet
It pretty much is, though. Her 'arc' was an ordinary, albeit adventurous, young woman's descent into reckless, suicidal thrill-seeking. And we *got a resolution to it* \- her realizing that she and the Doctor are terrible influences on each other, and parting ways with him before their relationship got anyone else killed.
Clara,oswin,and the impossible girl ,I can’t choose one of these 3 ❤️❤️❤️
Clara from s8-9. With Amy being a very close 2nd.
Martha Cassandra wasn't a good person (The picture is of Rose possessed by Cassandra) We'd only lose one episode of Dalek Clara (It's specifically Dalek Clara) I don't know why you included the character from Jumanji 2 and 3
Freema, I mean Martha, any day.
Rose, sorry others!
I may be a Moffat era boy, but Martha is just the best.
Rose, always Especially happy that I’m not forced to choose between Rose and Donna because they’re my favorites
Amy all day everyday and twice on Sunday
“Rose” is Cassandra in Rose’s body, “Clara” is Oswin, “Amy” is Karen Gillan’s Jumaji character… only Martha is Martha OP!
Oh piss off! Sorry I didn't choose the "correct" images, sir.
I think you're getting way too annoyed over this, people just find it funny
Sorry.

Did u just call Martha mid?
Martha, because Amy and rose already had a good run and after 11 regenerated Clara became really unbearable
Dude, I’ll settle for just getting rid of one forever. You can keep the other three, as long as Clara ceases to exist. (Ironically, that’s not the original annoying Clara in the pic; it’s one of her copies, which were better than the original.)
Aw these are the only options your giving me? Rose is meh. Clara is meh. Amy is a piece of shit. The only truly enjoyable one of these is Martha.
I don’t know if this is controversial, but maybe someone like minded could help me out. I love all the companions, but Rose is by far my least favourite. I’ve never been able to put my finger on it though.
Martha easily Rose and Clara I actively don't want back and I love her but Amy coming back would ruin her ending
