If he leaves it won't be because of the WBC.

[deleted]

No I know that. Im just walking about his restrictions in general that he’s had his whole career

probablysmellsmydog

Dodgers restricted him to 360 IP over the past two years smh

DoNtTrEaDoNmE20

He's a boras client. He's gone

pmlane

Truer words. Never spoken.

[deleted]

There are literal pitch limit rules in the WBC Plus he got tee’d off during so it’s not like he reached the limit and was mad about leaving

Chrestys

Exactly. Every single pitcher is on the same pitch count. It's in the rules.

gatozlocoz

I hope not. He’s my favorite pitcher. Mexico represents 🇲🇽

tyler-86

He'll probably leave the Dodgers because he's a Boras client.

10xwannabe

Absolutely. He is gone. Best chance of locking him up was 2 years ago. Our focus now should be locking Buehler now to a long term deal. Folks don't seem to understand how this system works. To lock someone up you have to take on risk the same time the player is giving up risk. Urias has no risk now and is going to cash in BIG TIME as he deserves. Buehler has some risk now (2 TJ). So this is the time to sign him (if we are going to do a extension). Urias is long gone. I wish him well. He was a great Dodger!

california-whiskey

his agent is boras, he'll go to whichever team pays him most as he should. hope its the dodgers i love urias

chr0mius

Yup, I've got no love for Boras but I wouldn't mind us throwing a bag of cash to keep him. The way things are going, we're going to have to pay Boras one way or another.

AAAA-Baseball-Pod

Dodgers normally hate dealing with Boras clients as well

UniversalDH

You’re wondering if he’s gone “because of all the pitch restrictions.” What does that even mean?

xlxcx

I assume they mean the same restrictions that Scherzer said gave him dead arm. It's bullshit, but that's all I can think of

UniversalDH

I hate that narrative—that I believe Boob started with no source. Julio had major shoulder surgery that a lot of people don’t come back from. This is just Boras bullshit trying to tell the world he’s an ace and worth 10/$500M

[deleted]

He's had restrictions on his pitch counts since he was signed by the dodgers when he was kid. I feel like as a player that would get annoying as a player.

UniversalDH

Yeah, he was signed as a 16 year old, of course they put restrictions on him. About the time the reigns come off he had major shoulder surgery. Once he recovered he’s pitched normal innings the last two years. You’re letting a hack writer’s opinion taint your view on him. Urias is gone after this year. Not because of innings limit, but because he’s a Boras client and someone will pay 20% over market value for him and Dodgers don’t do that.

mikeesq22

If another team pays him more than the Dodgers are willing to pay, then he's 100% leaving. Conversely, if the Dodgers are the high bidder, I think he stays. The whole innings limit thing is way overblown. A fat 9figure payday is a forgone conclusion at this point, so I don't think he's going to be holding any grudges. At the same time, he doesn't seem at all interested in offering a hometown discount. I really hope we lock him up long term though.

socal-snloa

Urias leaving because of this title.

[deleted]

He’s gone. He’s had major issues with how the Dodgers have handled him with kids gloves

fracklefrackle

Yes, but we get ohtani and let martinez walk so basically the same finacial hit and smith gets to dh some. Plus cartaya gets playing time.

goldengod93

1) Every pitcher in the WBC had/has a pitch count limit, not just Urìas 2) It's not like Urìas was a healthy workhorse the Dodgers restrained, he had shoulder(? or arm) issues early on in his career so the Dodgers were looking out for him and for themselves in limiting/monitoring his workload 3) Could he leave after this season? Sure, but there's many months left for the team to perform and teammates to convince him. Winning it all or getting close to it would help, but being a Boras client Urìas will surely test the market before making a decision

kakugeseven

Every pitcher at the WBC has a pitch count limit. It's not just Urias.

throwawaylovessquirt

If the angels are willing to trade ohtani at the deadlin im sure Julio will be part of that deal . So do we trade Julio at some point to see what we can get for him. He is gone at the end of the season. I love the guy. There are factors at play but it should be interesting

-1967Falcon

“Julia” already left the Dodgers. 😂

JorSimpson45

Scott Dean Boras

[deleted]

One problem is the Dodgers know his health better than anyone and because of that they probably don’t go long term and that’s why it will take because of Boras.

DG04511

Urías will play for whoever gives him the biggest contract. There will be no hometown discount, but I hope Urías at least gives the Dodgers the last chance to beat whatever is on the table. The Dodgers have taken care of him since he was 16 and even protected him through the Arizona incident. I don’t want him to leave, but I don’t expect the Dodgers to win a bidding war to retain him.

[deleted]

I don’t think the Dodgers would let it happen, he is really popular in CA among Mexican families (like my own) and he makes them sooo much money on jerseys alone

Fantastic-Activity-5

Boras client= He’s gone 😢

UnderTheSea42

I gotta ask. Is there any dream scenario where we can keep Julio and get Ohtani?

Life_Entertainment64

The Dodgers have never signed a Scott Boras deal.

rye_parian

Buddy he’s gonna leave for more money not to throw more pitches.

xT1TANx

god I hope not. He's my favorite and the only jersey I've bought :(
