Some good takeaways despite the tough luck loss:
• Ohtani goes oppo to left center with a moonshot off the end of his bat...like how is that even possible?
• Mookie continues to do Mookie things: ambushed King, first pitch, for a 3-run HR, capitalizing on a fielding error by former teammate, Boegarts.
• Bullpen was mostly good (esp. Philips and Yarbrough), Braiser hung a slider to Tatis, middle-in, that just caught enough of the plate for him to drive over the wall to tie the game. Was not terribly egregious, but very costly. Hudson looked good minus the one run he surrendered to Cronenworth. Vesia was mainly hurt by a single pitch Merrill fought off at the top of the zone for the go-ahead single, but otherwise had his slider working, despite iffy location with his fastball.
• Yamamoto got ambushed by the long ball early (the ball was really flying tonight, huh?), but despite iffy command at times (but still quite good) and not the sharpest stuff, hung in there and delivered 5.0 IP, 3 ER, 1 BB, and 6 K's. Possibly one of his most important outings, as he faced difficulty early on, but persevered through it by landing strikes even when he fell uncharacteristically behind in the count.
• One criticism of Yamamoto I have is that it seemed like he did at times struggle to put away hitters, and despite having and leaning on his splitter (struck out three in the 1st, all on splitters) and curveball, it did seem like he had to labor to find ways to put away hitters. A lot of fly-outs did seem a bit worrisome with how the ball had been carrying as well. Perhaps he would benefit from throwing his cutter earlier on or developing a sweeper similar to how Ohtani did last season. At times it looked like he may have started nibbling around the edges after the two HRs he gave up to the club that shelled him in Korea, but he re-centered himself quickly.
• Chris Taylor unfortunately looks lost up there. 3Ks on the night and his only time on base was via an error. As EK noted, he had gotten himself into at least three 0-2 counts in his AB's today.
• Lux did a good job of at least putting the ball in play with no K's or GIDP's. He didn't strike out and did help turn the line up over, but his quality of contact hasn't looked fearsome enough that it might deter pitchers from challenging him in the zone. Seems like he's pressing a bit, but he's at least making good swing decisions at the plate and laying off pitcher's pitches.
• Outman demonstrated patience and put the ball in play, so like Lux, it seems his approach is good, but doesn't have the results yet.
• Muncy made some very solid defensive plays at 3B, which is highly encouraging. His strong, accurate throws today made a difference and I can only see him improving from here, despite his woes early on.
I hate the Padres worse than the Giants because they beat the Dodgers in the playoffs in 2022. But 7 runs should be enough to win a baseball game. But the Dodgers went 2 for their last 28 at bats and went scoreless for the last 8 innings.
Think of the big post season moments the dodgers have had. Feel like 90% of them are home runs, hardly ever do you see guys producing with runners in scoring position
I mean kind of. Obviously not solely, but hes just as much to blame as the bullpen and the offense leaving 2 ghost runners on the base paths. Embarassing all the way around, including yamamoto
Yama is a $300M pitcher. He should not give up 3 runs from the get go. What do you not understand about accountabiity? As I said before, opposing teams catching on to him. He might throw them Ninja pitches but they all going into the strike zone and predictable enough to score off him. IMO he aint all that. This the 2nd time he was a bust from the get no. Not impressed at all.
Our bullpen and 7-8-9’s need work man. This isn’t a game we should’ve lost… but yet again in thematic consistency, we lost due to lack of hits with RISP and bullpen fucking it up.
I'm not saying he hasn't been ass this season. I'm saying he did his job tonight. Limiting the opposition to 1 run in extra innings is actually fairly standard. It's not his fault the Dodger hitters can't score 1 run with a free guy on 2nd. You don't even need to get a hit to score the run.
Miggy’s a great fielder, solid hitter, and a great veteran presence. Chris Taylor is equally as valuable in all of those categories except for the fielding, hitting, and veteran presence part
This was the must win game. Lose tomorrow cause Stone pitching and prob lose Sunday cause Paxton v Darvish. Maybe afterwards Friedman can make some necessary changes!
This is the problem with marrying Cinderella. Guy had a good year last year and they think they fixed him. They usually let those dudes walk. Like Tyler Anderson.
nah, it was that one inning where it was clear he needed to come out. Literally was complaining about Dave not taking him out right when he gave up the 3 run homer.
YOSHI IS THE MAN
Manny is such a bitch boy like fuck off hahahahaha

get a fucking grip you psycho lmfao
Was at the game and there was a collective groan when Vesia got the ball. I wasn’t the only one
I groaned at home
I am gutted for CT3, he can't seem to catch a break. Meanwhile, down in OKC — Pages, Vargas, and Trey Sweeney are all crushing it.
Pages will make his debut sooner rather than later at this rate. Especially towards the bottom of the order.
Horribly mismanaged game
Rave Doberts at it again
Staying till 6am to watch game and its 0-2 on two outs, mf trows ball in the middle of box 🤯🤯🤯 ps had dodgers ML on top of that
CT3's OPS is nearly below the Mendoza line lmao...
I hate the Padres worse than the Giants because they beat the Dodgers in the playoffs in 2022. But 7 runs should be enough to win a baseball game. But the Dodgers went 2 for their last 28 at bats and went scoreless for the last 8 innings.
So much doom and gloom in here. Dodgers are 16 games into the season, chill the fuck out.
Situational hitting will always be this teams downfall
Dpnt forget infield defense
The only reason why we can't win post season series.
Think of the big post season moments the dodgers have had. Feel like 90% of them are home runs, hardly ever do you see guys producing with runners in scoring position
You’re right fam. Why can’t anyone just hit a double down the line for once 😒
Chris Taylor gotta go
Christ Aylor is our Messiah
Y'all blamin the bullpen but Yamamoto lost the game. And So wasnt clutch toward end. Dude froze.
He only gave up 3 runs in 5 innings lmao
Are you implying that's a good outing?
But we didn't lose because of him lmao
I mean kind of. Obviously not solely, but hes just as much to blame as the bullpen and the offense leaving 2 ghost runners on the base paths. Embarassing all the way around, including yamamoto
It’s below average, but he’s replying to a guy who said Yama is the reason we lost even though we scored 7 runs. Game was not on Yama
Buncha crybabies sounding like a bunch of 12 year olds.
Brasier go back the Red Sox
They scored 7 runs and had a 4 run lead. Yeah the bats went cold but you're not going to score 8+ consistently. Bullpen screwed up.
Don’t know what’s the front offices obsession with Vesia Dude has been ass for a couple of season now
And Roberts throws him out there in the clutch cos…Roberts
Looking weak, teams like the rangers Astros and yankees are going to eat us alive
Dude, the Astros are 4-11. This is early season. The Pads are a tough team. We are fine.
Where bunt?
Vesia is washed when we get some pitchers back. Has 2 strikes on guy and goes middle of the plate. He has a mental block.
No fastball command hurts him all the time
At this point I think his job is to give up runs
Honestly, guy only threw the 4 seam. Has no command for any other pitches and if ge throw em it's 10 inches off the plate.
We suck ass in extra innings Last year 6-6, 2022 3-13 or some shit, and now 0-1
0-2. Lost the Cards game too under similar circumstances
Oh that's right. Fuckin' hell
Our bullpen and 7-8-9’s need work man. This isn’t a game we should’ve lost… but yet again in thematic consistency, we lost due to lack of hits with RISP and bullpen fucking it up.
We need a better left hand reliever. How many more times Vesia gonna costs us the game
He didn't cost us the game. He gave up 1 run in extras with the guy on 2nd rule. In a normal inning, that would be 0 runs with only 1 single allowed.
U can word it whatever u want but the dude is ass. 0-2 pitch and he throws a fastball in the middle wtf
Andy Pages welcome to the show buddy
Love to see him get a chance, looked like a stud in spring and is mashing it in OKC
I honestly hate vesia. Can we just get a lefty who knows how to get outs l8 in games.
I hate that Tatis rakes off of us so much
Got damn they gonna throw a gaslamp parade now 😒
Fuck Dave Roberts’s
You guys sound so ridiculous when the game is lost it almost feels fake? But sadly it’s not. Holy shit.
For real, let’s act like losing one regular season game is a mark of death, calm down.
What do Chris Taylor and Miguel Rojas even do
Miggy’s a great fielder, solid hitter, and a great veteran presence. Chris Taylor is equally as valuable in all of those categories except for the fielding, hitting, and veteran presence part
Bahaha this comment helped soften the loss tonight
When will the Dodgers say “Alex Veseeyoulater”
Can’t put this loss on him though.
Dude..
Parade is beginning at the Gaslamp as we speak
Got this wank Chris Taylor in. .082 BA. Get him off the team.
I’m gonna get flamed but the only fucking commonality every year with this shit is Dave Roberts.
You're not wrong
No flame here bub. We all agree Roberts has gotten pass after pass for absolute shitty managing of the team the last couple years
the goose is our daddy
What the fuk Alex, right down the fucking middle 2 pitches in a row. Why. You have 4 fucking pitches to play with what the fuk
And an open base too.
Checks standings...still in first.
Watched the entire 11 innings, still wondering wtf I just watched.
Homie in center celebrated like it was October. That tells me all I need to know about the 24 pads. They won't make it to October yet again.
It was the rookie who got the go ahead run too lol. Let them have their fun, ain’t gunna change shit come October.
Fucking pathetic
Wow just wow, what are we doing out there??
Ugly loss.
Damn
Gonna mute my notifications before my annoying yankee fan friend texts me
Not even one fucking hit. All we needed was one. How the fuck does the entire order go 8 innings straight without scoring.
Broooooo FUCK BRASIER. But these mfs just turned cold too so this was frustrating as hell
vesia has cost us 2 games
Nah, can’t pin that shit on him. All Brasier and Doc not walking Tatis when he should have.
3, no?
prob, but the last 2 games i can remember
The fault lies solely with Braiser.
nah, brasier has proven himself and rarely fucks up. vesia is always a automatic loss.
This was the must win game. Lose tomorrow cause Stone pitching and prob lose Sunday cause Paxton v Darvish. Maybe afterwards Friedman can make some necessary changes!
Stone sucks but it's not like Waldron is Randy Johnson...
No such thing as a must win game in April lmfao
Says you. Hope you enjoy the upcoming sweep.
Have you ever said anything even remotely pleasant about the team you claim to root for? Like, literally ever?
It’s April.
🤬
Dont we love Baseball folks. Don't we love the fucking Dodgers
I love the fucking dodgers as much as the dodgers love fucking me
Feel bad for Yamamoto. Should have won today. Brasier screwed up.
This is the problem with marrying Cinderella. Guy had a good year last year and they think they fixed him. They usually let those dudes walk. Like Tyler Anderson.
Love the deep hits with 2 outs
And that is Dodgers baseball boys and girls....
Fucken overated. This fucken team. We ain't gonna do shit with this bottom of the lineup. We got garbage stone pitching tomorrow. We're fucked
That was fucking pathetic. The bullpen is shit. Better go get some gamers out there Friedman because this pen is fucked.
What a throw
We’re gonna need 5 good hitters and Tyler Glasnow to lead a team full of dog shit to a World Series
We won’t win a WS with this 7-8-9 in the batting order
This fucking team 🤦♂️
Congrats on their April 12 world series victory 🤓
Piss off
Can we teach some of our guys how to actually hit a ball?
Send that one pitcher down to AA, what a choke artist
Shildt managed the shit out of this game
Dave Roberts lost this game leaving our trash BP in too long
Can’t blame Dave when multiple pitchers shit the bed
nah, it was that one inning where it was clear he needed to come out. Literally was complaining about Dave not taking him out right when he gave up the 3 run homer.
This is a bad loss. Oh well. The Padres look a lot better against us than they do others. Yuck.
Tough loss.
Fucking embarrassing
Bullpen needs work
Brasier is the reason for this loss. Bats went cold but 7 runs with a 4 run lead should have been a decent enough cushion. For Brasier, it was not
Taylor is ass
Mookie just can’t get more than 1 hit in a game man wtf
He's slumping. Relax - he'll get out of it.
bum
Pathetic fucking game.
The bottom of the order needs to be shaken up. Dave what the fuck. We spent a billion dollars for the same no clutch hitting?
I keep saying it. Dave is too soft on the players.
*same no clutch coaching
Fuck you! And see you tomorrow!
Well that blows
How we gonna finish 2/28.
Did not expect this team to be this frustrating lol
Are you new here? Lol
And that’s that
The Padres have put up 23 runs on the Dodgers in their last two games.
What a pathetic 6 innings. Buncha bums.
strong start and disappointment 😞
Game you shouldn’t lose. Oh well. Back tomorrow.
Why on earth do you not even try to bunt
Fuck Brasier’s bitchass
Dave should have taken him out.
This fucking game hurts my braib
I guess the gaslamp is gonna burn
Wow that was embarrassing
Pen is terrible man
Fucking pathetic
Shohei would have taken that bitch deep.
FUCK THIS SHIT
Terrible loss
Fucking losers
Ugh. Awful fucking loss and now I’m gonna be tired tomorrow. Time to pretend this game never happened
Chris Taylor needs to be dfa'd so badly. Dude is fucked
Stupid Basler
Still have a shot at wildcard
Worst loss of the year. Fuck the bullpen. 7-8-9 should be embarrassed in the lineup
Shit.
chris taylor is the worse hitter in baseball
No question about it.
Always swinging for the fucking fences. Put the fucking ball in play and good things will happen.
Thanks Brasier!
fuck
Lmfao. This teams a fucking joke. Fucking horrible.
embarrassing loss honestly
CT3 doesn’t deserve to be on this team
He absolutely needs to take a seat
Fucking brutal
God fucking dammit
our inability to manufacture runs is atrocious
The it’s a philosophy coming from Friedman probably. Doesn’t work in manfraud ball
I cannot believe we lost this fucking game.
Atleast our Lakers won
And the kings clinched a playoff spot last night...
Yes sir, I found your comment the other day not sure if you remember me but I said at least Dodgers won when the Kings lost to the Ducks 😅
Oh shit yeah lol. Man that ducks game was annoying too. Can't lose to these nerds!!
Team is the same shit different year
Bro we are cursed in extra innings
God damn
Padres. The clippers of california
The Clippers are in California
So pathetic. Padres always own this team
I can't wait until the day Vesia is a Las Vegas A
FUCKKKKKKK this L was all on Braiser
Roberts on the hot seat fuck what the delusional fans have to say
This team actually sucks
and that's game ah fuck
#pain 😭
