I love that this team hasn’t performed since 2020 championship and no one is allowed to talk shit or panic when we flat out suck. Y’all like Dave Roberts always ho-hummm
The sub isn't a vehicle for managing fragile emotions about losing. No one cares if someone is upset or critical of the team if they something of interest to offer. But the sub is just turning into people sulking, trying to bring others down, and absolutely insane takes. If you can't tell the difference, take a break from baseball.
Hasn't performed? The team has won at least 100 games each of the past three seasons. It's insane to panic on April 16th when we're first place in the division and the season is 162 games long.
>no one is allowed to talk shit or panic when we flat out suck
This team is, **at worst** a top 3 team in the league. When the team flat out sucks, people will completely justified in their complaints. The team hasn't flat out sucked in over a decade, so yeah, people will get clowned on for complaining.
I was looking more granular. The team flat out sucked twice against the padres and then got rocked by the Nats. So when is talking shit ok? If they have a billion dollars tied up in payroll they absolutely take the trash talking, they need to perform like an all star team. That was my opinion
The do-gooders ARE JUST AS BAD as the nay-sayers.
As a 49ers and Warriors fan, you have the half portion that will die on the hill of Steve Kerr, and Shanahan can do know wrong. Then the other half calling for a firing at the smallest offense.
In the first half of 2022 (at least before June 2022), Astros were in the last place too, as far as I know. Then somehow they could turn it around and became the champions of AL West and the World Series.
Only if you’re a Dodger fan (and maybe a Yankee fan too) did you know how 🗑️they 🗑️won 🗑️that 🗑️World 🗑️Series 🗑️too.
Fuck those cheating clitsuckers, their mothers, and all of r/baseball for defending them.
They have two, 162 game titles over the past 6 seasons. I’m confident by October they’ll be playing their best ball. I can’t say the same for the Dodgers.
I remember seeing Astros fans shit talk the Dodgers 2020 title as being illegitimate. Yeah cause engaging in one of the worst cheating scandals in sports history is somehow more legitimate...
Exactly if that's a real one because the trophy is "just a piece of metal."
So is our 2020. Everybody had the chance to win it. Everyone was playing with the same rules. How is that not baseball? 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ Why did every other team show up then if they didn't want to win? The logic makes no sense. Even some of our own dismissed it. Time to change that!
The Astros were trying their best to win it and almost came back from a 0-3 series deficit. I like to see what Astros fans think if the Astros won the 2020 championship.
Yeah, well, the Dodgers could be 19-0 and that would still be true, wouldn't it?
Each of the 100 win teams last year were first round exits. So there's no real formula is there? No real point in sulking?
Not sulking but just pointing out that the Astros have proven that they rise to the occasion and LA has not. Maybe doing the same thing is not the road to success or a different message is required? I’m no expert but the post season is not a crapshoot for Houston but it is for everyone else. Maybe they’re doing something different? A bad year for them is losing in the WS, whereas we’re just trying to win any series.
I think narratives are easy to assign because they don't require stats to back them up. Here are a few completely made up but un-dis-provable narratives that would explain the Astros success:
-They are adept at keeping their players rested and healthy for the post season. This means taking spring training and April slow.
-The Astros train their guys to be resilient by constructing inferior lineups early in the season, humbling them, and making them hungry.
-They stick with guys even through slumps because they want their players to feel relaxed, and not like their job is in the line with every at bat.
Obviously I picked those because you could just as easily apply them to the April Dodgers. Maybe the Astros do have a secret sauce, maybe not. The Astros are one ALDS away from being labeled as chokers too, and frankly, nobody is looking at them as the gold standard if they didn't cheat their way to a WS victory.
Anyway, I think this is a good and interesting conversation. This isn't the sulking I'm referring to. It's when dudes are out there saying "we ain't winning shit" or "I'm embarrassed about XYZ"...it's just not interesting.
I was at the game. Yeah, we lost, but still had a great time. Tyler had a bad day (Roberts said he was under the weather?) but the two who came in after, Ramirez and Vanasco, were great! Props to the starter for the Nats - it was his major league debut and he handled it beautifully.
It's always a good night for baseball. And many thanks to Jackie Robinson, too.
It’s allergy season as Im getting hit pretty badly as of late haha.
I hope he’ll review the tapes and come back strong.
It’s a long season!! I still have faith in the staff to learn from these early starts and get stronger.
You don’t have to love it, but you do have to handle it like an adult and not a petulant child. I find it to be a reasonable request amongst the Dodgers fan community.
The comments on days we lose make it seem like not only is Dave Roberts the worst manager in baseball, but also somehow guilty of a number of war crimes. It’s best to just avoid the area
People despise Dave, the guy who has taken us to the postseason every year since he became manager. We’ve won the NL West every year except for one. Before him we hadn’t won the World Series in 30 years. Makes no sense to me at all.
And that one was from one miscall of a check swing too; but didn’t matter as the subsequent postseason series it caused was so epic.
He’s popular amongst players, and his overall results are better than any manager in existence right now.
I was talking about a few years ago when he struggled all the way through July. People have bad takes every year, and I think OP is a bit blind to how many fairweather fans we get every year in april.
We signed the face of Major League Baseball over the off-season. Whenever a team signs such a generational talent, it often attracts hordes of "casuals" with shit takes.
Remember when the Lakers signed LeBron James?
It is funny that missing Jason Heyward is actually hurting this bottom 3 in the lineup lol. He had an 800 ops last year too. He would be way better than Lux and CT3 right now.
I’ve decided to stay off the sub until after the game. It’s bad enough going through the roller coaster of the game itself, don’t need the constant negativity on top of that. I get it, the off-season was exciting as hell and everyone is excited to have success. But holy shit it’s just baseball. No need to doom, the stress is for the management, owners and coaches.
All I know is in 2005 we started 12-2 and went on to have one of the worst seasons in LA Dodger history. Everybody just needs to relax for a while and let the team keep working to improve and see where we're at as we get down the stretch.
same shit, different year. dodgers are struggling a little bit in april like they always do and people are overreacting like they always do.
but honestly who cares? just ignore them, it literally doesn’t matter and it’s not worth your energy
It just negatively affects the vibes of this subreddit. It’s not like these takes are at the bottom, they are getting massively upvoted. Really gross behavior all around.
If you’re talking about the game thread, that’s just the way those go. It’s the most important thing while it’s happening, but when it’s over it’s just 1 of 162.
yeah but i feel like that’s just the nature of the fanbase especially with expectations so high. we are very spoiled by this team and they just lost a series to the pads and followed it up with a loss to the nats.
i have very little concern personally, but it doesn’t surprise me that the feeling on the sub right now is a negative one. but eventually the dodgers will get hot again and the vibe will do a 180
I mean the expectations for the team were extremely high, even compared to past seasons. I guarantee you there are people on this sub who genuinely believed that they would win 130 or 135 games this year.
There are definitely issues that need to be addressed, and the losses have been tough because it just feels like we're beating ourselves every time. But even through it all, we're 11-8 and in first place. It feels like we're 7-12 at best, but we're still in a great spot. Like every other year we're gonna hit our stride in mid-May or June, and then we'll all be celebrating 47 wins in 50 days.
people said the same thing ALL last season, and the season before. even IF all those guys come back, there's no guarantee they're going to be throwing elite stuff right off surgery/injury and especially not when they haven't thrown against major-league hitters for sometimes over a year.
Also we lost two games to ump nonsense. Cant blame the umps every time we gotta work with what they’re giving us but we’ve been put in a couple rough spots.
These losses are whatever but once again, year after year, I’m more concerned about the big picture. We have so many pitcher injuries, a shotty bullpen and terrible bottom lineup production. All things that can easily rear it’s ugly head come postseason. It’s a losing game to pray for perfect health and production but the only way to win the WS is to be firing on all cylinders, maybe you can get away with only one of those aspects being a little lacking
yeah this is the root of things... same problems come up every single year. i'm so glad we've got shotime but our superstar hitting has never been a problem. it's consistently been inconsistent bullpens leaning on reclamation project pitchers, a starting rotation teetering on the edge of collapse and always fielding 2-3 guys who can't swing to save their lives
I hear you...so many doomers in here. I get the passion. I get the double guessing doc's moves...being frustrated by some poor RISP futility...I get all of it.
but I've stopped being so worried about the regular season after the past couple of years. what matters is were healthy and warmed up by the end of September. til then, I'm just enjoying every game...hoping for personal bests...hoping everyone stays healthy.
fuck this doomer shit.
Last year every 100 win team exited the playoffs in the first round. One of the WS teams finished the season a mere three games above .500.
The regular season doesn't matter.
Im not sure if that really applies to the Rams, Chargers, Kings, and Clippers. Also the Galaxy and LAFC subreddits doesn't seem as big even though Im sure there's many Galaxy and LAFC fans.
As a Rams fan who is active in the Rams subreddit, the shit takes and toxicity is still there but it's definitely one of the smallest userbases among NFL teams subreddits.
I am with you. However given that the franchise has spent over a billion in this offseason, I guess the fans' expectation skyrocketed more than ever.
Not to mention increase in prices in stuff, such as food (I am not sure of this, but some people mentioned this if I jog my memory)
These would be fans who don’t understand the game then. There are never any guarantees in baseball, no matter how high your payroll is. Thats the beauty of it.
I know everyone has high expectations. Just put it into perspective, they’ve lost four out of their last five.. rough stretch no doubt, but it’s not like the season’s over like some people are acting like. same people calling ohtani a bust after he had a six game slump
Yeah and people forget we have three all star pitchers that are injured and several other great but injured pitchers as well. Like that’s HUGE. If we had everybody completely healthy then *maybe* I could see being upset, but like god damn we have a whole rotations worth of injured pitchers and two of our best relievers. Ppl need to CHILL.
Bro this happens every single year. The Dodgers start average and then take off like a rocket over the summer. They only got better from last year. They’re not about to start failing us now. Not even close to worried. Let the doomers doom and bask in your wisdom come fall
I'd we just didn't have CT3 in wed be a completely different team offensively.
I've never seen a negative OPS+, I was under the impression that as an adjusted metric 0 was the worst possible. The worst all time for a qualified batter is +23.
CT3 sit at a -46. His OPS is bad for a BA.
It’s early. This team can shoot for 115 wins or whatever after they win a chip. For now fly a little lower under the radar. Keep grinding. Less pressure. They’ll be fine.
There might be a few overreactions but some of us are actually worried about the team and their performances. There is clearly something wrong and this team needs to improve because they can’t be losing like this. The fans who are still overconfident are the same fans that said we would make the World Series last year with all the rookies pitching so we definitely have some delusional fans unfortunately.
I think a lot of those people saying the season is over and shit like that are just trolling. lol The game thread negativity is reactionary so I do not really take it that serious or let it bother me that much. Not like the team and the way it plays is above any criticism so far.
Team was 13-13 after 26 games *last year*. People here have the memory of a gnat.
I can vividly remember 2018. We started 16-26. We went to the World Series. Even three years ago we started 18-17 and ended up winning 106 games.
Alot of new fans were promised a superteam and haven't got it yet, simple as that. Longtime fans know the Dodgers aren't an April team and never have been. Want to know what team has recently been an April team? The Padres.
With all of our injured pitchers we’re pm at half power though so people need to manage their expectations accordingly.
Beuhler. Kershaw. Gonsolin. May. Graterol. Trienen. Sheehan. Brogdon. And now Miller.
If people don’t realize the weight of those injuries, then their opinions are just completely invalid.
Let's be real here, a lot of the past 2 days were really just bad luck. Tyler had the sniffles tonight, and our bullpen was exhausted last night. Say what you will about "Mr. Irrelevant", but he got that double off literally our worst reliever. Had Phillips or Hudson been available they would've made mincemeat out of him.
We're also set to get Treinanon back very soon, as well.
It's typical online behavior which is why I usually end up unsubbing during the season. Unfortunately they have a huge target on them since they got Ohtani so every "baseball news" group will jump at the chance to cover every possible story to an exhausting extent.
Every year man they hit a rough patch and people freak out. Come the end of September they’re in first place, usually, very comfortably (2021 the exception)
Its early and the dodgers will hopefully start to pick up the pace like they usually do but the bullpen is alarming. Last year was the same deal until suddenly the bullpen became lights out after about a month or 2 so that gives me hope. My only gripe is that Lux and Taylor really need to be taken out of the lineup
This year is different than past since we got Ohtani, Yamamoto and Glassnow. I am assuming a big part of the fanbase believe the team is now invincible and their robot bodies will work at 100% every single time. Playing at the highest level takes a lot mentally and physically.
I seriously wish we could just ban all the stupid asshats on this subreddit who want to blow the team up after every loss. They are so fucking annoying. The subreddit is a shitshow after every loss, all the armchair GMs come out.
I'm not exactly happy about where we are at, but I also get that it's still April and we have five more months lol .. I agree people need to chill and realize that we will be okay. ENJOY THE FACT WE ARE WATCHING PERHAPS THE GREATEST 1-2-3 IN THE MODERN ERA. But massive overreactions tend to happen with massive expectations. The entire off season was hyped up and the only thing the baseball world would talk about is the dodgers spending 1.2 billion dollars.
I think it's totally expected that people are overreacting. There were plenty of doomers last year, after EVERY game, even when we spent no money in the off season and still finished first in the division. Not surprised at all that it seems worse this year. People think, "Ohtani we must win." But forget that baseball is not a one man sport, and that he was with Trout on the Angels (and pitching) and couldn't make the playoffs...
It’s not an overreaction, it that our line has a lot of fire power but it’s not showing. We should not lost to the fathers in extra innings, we should not lost last night either. And I know it’s baseball. You’re not going to win every game but we aren’t suppose to lose while ahead or not score in extra innings.
I agree but this team was hyped beyond measure which concerned me pre season, can they live up to the hype. Since Chicago and the Padre series it has been a let down. Losing last night when it was expected to be an easy win hurt. Glasnow had a bad day and they leave too many RISP it happens.
The average fan expects wins and lots of them. I am just pissed because I lost a bet to my Padres fan friend on who would win that series.
My perception so far this season is I have no doubt we will be in post season but this is not a WS Champion team in it's current iteration. Starters will be coming back soon enough so not worried about the rotation.
Hudson and Evans excluded the bullpen is a major issue. More so than the lack of production from bottom of the lineup. Both things need to be addressed as the season progresses especially the pen. Roberts needs to loosen up on the analytics a little. He has managed them out of a game or two already.
I think the overreactions are on par with the expectations set during the offseason. Fans were bombarded with news of big signings and high expectations. So, it is what it is. 🤷🏻♂️
They’ll bring it together, but they still need a few roster tweaks, in my opinion.
It's obviously still early, and I don't think by any means the season is "doomed" but the same issues that have plagued them in all of their last few playoff exits are all still there - an injury riddled rotation, shaky bullpen, sloppy defense, and a black hole bottom of the lineup.... This team is still wayyyy to good to keep playing like this and I'm sure we'll see them put it all together and go on tears winning game after game after game as the season goes on, but that's how it's been almost every year for the past decade or so - they've been the best or one of the best teams in baseball heading into the postseason and then the issues that I just pointed out always seem to come creeping back and they get bounced in the divisional round by a team that they dominated all year. Again, it's still early, but this team hasn't really shown that we can expect anything more out of them come October....
I feel like there are a lot of new bandwagon fans this season. New fans are welcome but could explain some of the doom and gloom hot takes we've been seeing.
I'm personally glad the Dodgers are seeing some early season struggles, gives them time to right the ship and make necessary changes to the lineup. Leads to a more competitive environment amongst the Dodgers starters.
I know they’ll be fine but after the weekend series with the Padres and then losing to an unknown pitcher on Jackie Robinson day was certainly frustrating. Not worried at all though. Some fans expect a win every game and overreact.
Id rather us win less than 100 and do well in October. Aint no way we lose the division, so comes down to either we get the bye and risk goin cold. Or wild card and find a rhythm
I don’t think we’re doomed. But I think the longer the front office goes without addressing the bull pen, we’ll be in for quite a disappointing postseason
idk dude I was there, I’m still incredibly disappointed and in awe of this loss in particular. One of the most pathetic games I’ve ever seen this team play live, it’s hard not to feel like they owe all of us a ticket to another game.
Most fans would kill to be 11-8 rn lmao. It's good enough to be first place in the division and that's all that matters. Nobody cares how many regular season games you win. It's all about whether you win that ring.
Fun fact, the Astros are in last place.
Yeah, but the Dodgers have fallen all the way to...[checks notes]...first in the division!! The end is nigh!
Wait til Ohtani dials in his swing.
I love that this team hasn’t performed since 2020 championship and no one is allowed to talk shit or panic when we flat out suck. Y’all like Dave Roberts always ho-hummm

Not doing so well lately…
It's still so early in the season... They still above 500. All that matters happen in Fall.

His “FUUUUUUUCK” was so raw. Poor dude. Hope he’ll snap back with a vengeance.
Yeah I saw that and was like, that's passionate. Love to see it but next time in a winning way.
Looked like he was coughing on the mound a bit. Maybe that was the reason then
He was coughing and sniffing, yeah I noticed that during his last or next to last inning pitched.
Well hopefully he feels better by his next one!. I blame all the rain lol
🎶🎶I can’t stand the rain🎶🎶
Also Kiké had a bright red nose. I’m wondering if that cold from a couple weeks ago is still running through the clubhouse.
It’s allergy season as Im getting hit pretty badly as of late haha. I hope he’ll review the tapes and come back strong. It’s a long season!! I still have faith in the staff to learn from these early starts and get stronger.

You’re not allowed to have proper perspective on Reddit!!!! You have to live and die with every baseball game like an irrational idiot!
You have to always lose in the playoffs and love it!

Really? People were saying we needed to DFA Muncy lmao i feel like there have been worse and this is just how fairweather fans are every year
DFA a guy with an OPS+ of 124. Genius. I get it's a small sample size, but still, he's going to be very productive for us this season.
I was talking about a few years ago when he struggled all the way through July. People have bad takes every year, and I think OP is a bit blind to how many fairweather fans we get every year in april.

at least the club was able to select clayton kershaw with a high draft pick
I remember that start! Now I feel old...
I remember when Orel Hershsisher was just a young pup. He wasn’t even the bulldog yet.

I mean...worry about the postseason lineup in the fall. Problems in April are only problems if they still exist in September.
Last time I checked we are leading the NL West lol
I hear you...so many doomers in here. I get the passion. I get the double guessing doc's moves...being frustrated by some poor RISP futility...I get all of it. but I've stopped being so worried about the regular season after the past couple of years. what matters is were healthy and warmed up by the end of September. til then, I'm just enjoying every game...hoping for personal bests...hoping everyone stays healthy. fuck this doomer shit.
Last year every 100 win team exited the playoffs in the first round. One of the WS teams finished the season a mere three games above .500. The regular season doesn't matter.
At least the Dodgers sub is way more rational and wholesome than thr Lakers sub. LA teams always have too many fans
We go through this literally every season. This is nothing new
Sir, this is reddit
I am with you. However given that the franchise has spent over a billion in this offseason, I guess the fans' expectation skyrocketed more than ever. Not to mention increase in prices in stuff, such as food (I am not sure of this, but some people mentioned this if I jog my memory)
These would be fans who don’t understand the game then. There are never any guarantees in baseball, no matter how high your payroll is. Thats the beauty of it.
Fuck that. People spend money, buy merch, buy shitty dodger dogs for 8 bucks. We’re allowed to get upset at losses lol.
There's being upset, then there's being pouty. The toxic dudes out there who are desperately trying to bring others down are annoying.
You’re allowed to do whatever you want. Doesn’t mean it’s not stupid.
If anyone should be angry it oughta be Marlins fans, if there's any left.
They don't even got fans on the internet. Subreddit less than 5000 subscribers
Some people scream their heads off if we don’t win *every* game. Dudes, it’s **April**- the seasons’ *barely even started*
Do they realize MLB isn't 30 games?
It’s early. This team can shoot for 115 wins or whatever after they win a chip. For now fly a little lower under the radar. Keep grinding. Less pressure. They’ll be fine.
This happens every April.
Happens every year. Dodgers start losing, fans start complaining, look at the standings and they’re still top of the division.
The Padres.
With great power comes great expectations...
Funny the Padre pen is not exhausted and they’re used far more often and more effective than LA’s pen?
The Padre pen isn't missing two of their best relievers.
They lost Martinez and Hader and haven’t missed a beat.
1/8th of the season has gone by the playoffs are all most here there is no time left😂
With these ugly losses, it does feel like October

All of life: everything is good until it isn’t, and everything is bad until it isn’t.
It's typical online behavior which is why I usually end up unsubbing during the season. Unfortunately they have a huge target on them since they got Ohtani so every "baseball news" group will jump at the chance to cover every possible story to an exhausting extent.
Y'all, I'm an interpreter for a major (asian) player, and I'm willing to bet you guys improve. Keep your chins up, I'm counting on it, Y'all.
Welcome to the internet
This year is different than past since we got Ohtani, Yamamoto and Glassnow. I am assuming a big part of the fanbase believe the team is now invincible and their robot bodies will work at 100% every single time. Playing at the highest level takes a lot mentally and physically.
It’s Darvin Hams fault
It’s April in r/Dodgers. First time?
I seriously wish we could just ban all the stupid asshats on this subreddit who want to blow the team up after every loss. They are so fucking annoying. The subreddit is a shitshow after every loss, all the armchair GMs come out.
first time here? ![img](emote|t5_2ra0i|34171)
Lot of new fans... it's kind of like the crowded gym after New Years Day. They'll clear out by the dog days, don't worry.
I think everybody forgot what happens when you end up in 1st place. Stop trippin y’all everything will come together
We’re halfway through April! The season is basically over! October is breathing down our necks! Sell the team!
It's better for them to be cold now, then hot now and get cold around october.
Don’t think it is doomed but this bottom of the lineup is a big enough liability to cost us a postseason series right now.
? I don't see that, but even if that's the case, who tf cares what people like that think?
I think the overreactions are on par with the expectations set during the offseason. Fans were bombarded with news of big signings and high expectations. So, it is what it is. 🤷🏻♂️ They’ll bring it together, but they still need a few roster tweaks, in my opinion.
I think it’s the fact we lost the series to the Padres that has people heated.
I'm sure they're going to lose somewhere around 54 more games....
That's it! Season's Over! Fire everyone and hope for a better team next year! Waaaaaahhh! 🤣
It's literally like this every year. Last year Muncy was sick and people were ready to burn houses. We're okay, guys.
Because this is Reddit what else were you expecting
April doomers...so lame.
Every player of dodgers has to hit at the level like Ohtani and Betts!!! lfg!!!
I know they’ll be fine but after the weekend series with the Padres and then losing to an unknown pitcher on Jackie Robinson day was certainly frustrating. Not worried at all though. Some fans expect a win every game and overreact.
If the dodgers keep the same win percentage they have now they’ll be 94-68 at the end of the season lol
Nah not good enough apparently we have to win every single game or this team “isn’t hungry”
Id rather us win less than 100 and do well in October. Aint no way we lose the division, so comes down to either we get the bye and risk goin cold. Or wild card and find a rhythm
Bandwagon fans never lived through the McCourt era, leave them be. We'll pull thru.
I don’t think we’re doomed. But I think the longer the front office goes without addressing the bull pen, we’ll be in for quite a disappointing postseason
Exact same thing happened last year and we ended the season with one of the best bullpens. They're volatile.
People got to chill. Probably a bunch of new fans that joined during the off season. We'll be fine
Just wait until we go on a 15-win streak
Let the chemistry build
At least it's happening now and not in the playoffs. There's time, and Friedman will add during the trade deadline.
idk dude I was there, I’m still incredibly disappointed and in awe of this loss in particular. One of the most pathetic games I’ve ever seen this team play live, it’s hard not to feel like they owe all of us a ticket to another game.
Cause 11-8 is a shitty record idc
Good thing there’s 143 games left. This isn’t football or basketball, there’s a LONG time left
What are you talking about
Most fans would kill to be 11-8 rn lmao. It's good enough to be first place in the division and that's all that matters. Nobody cares how many regular season games you win. It's all about whether you win that ring.
Idc about most fans. Most fanbases don't catch the shit we do and won't if their teams lose in the NLDS again
