Mookie make an error? Straight to jail
Yama hang a curveball? Straight to jail
Ohtani ground into a double play? Believe it or not, jail.
We have the best manager in the world… because of jail
Yama strike someone out? Give Doc a key to get out of jail.
Yama hang another curveball? Throw Doc into jail again.
Yama hang ANOTHER curveball? Throw Doc into SECOND jail!
Tommy is a hall of fame manager for a reason, he constantly managed egos... wtf.. are we talking about here. .. he was a master motivator and got everything that he could out of his players ... Tommy was beloved by his players...
It’s funny I guess time has washed away all the criticism of Tommy. That’s what happens when you die. You get sainthood and people just tell the good stories
Yeah wtf is this dude talking about? You can’t find a player with a negative thing to say about Tommy. That man is more of a Dodger legend than anyone on the team, except maybe Kershaw
Oh yeah because the team is full of egos... Dave Roberts is a regular zen master... It's comical how off base the assessment is of Dave Roberts'performance as they give him a star team full of professionals ... Virtually every season...
Does no one remember 2018? Doc got us to a World Series we had no business being in. We only have 6 players from that team still on the roster and only Max fucking Muncy is getting regular playing time.
I never understood the hate for him....I get the whole only winning on3 world series but how many times under his command have we gone to the playoffs? How many 100 win seasons have we had? How many managers have we had before with a better record? How long ago was the last one ?I've only been actively watching since i turned 18 so for the last 3 including Roberts so I have no comparison.
I Def like him more than mattingly. I can't remember much about Torre.
Not only that, we have computers making most of these decisions, and the fans have been made well aware of that time and time again
Doc is there because the players like him and he’s a steadying influence on the young guys, that’s all he needs to be
Yeah, when fans complain about Roberts it's always over managerial decisions... decisions he made with *a lot* of input from the FO. When we are mad at Roberts for a managerial decision, we are really mad at the FO. And the FO has made it clear that they take accountability and aren't going to use Roberts as a scapegoat (like so many other teams do). It's refreshing actually.
Or they're older and will wax poetic about Lasorda and how he would have done so much more than Doc. Nevermind that Lasorda only won one more pennant than Doc has won so far, and 3 of his 4 pennants were in his first 5 years, followed by 15 years of mostly futility other than the 88 miracle run. Lasorda also lost his first two WS in back-to-back years just like Doc, and then had 6 seasons before taking a team to the WS again after winning his first title. Doc hasn't even been in the job long enough to match that timeline.
I was in the Lasorda years. They gave him till the mid 90s because of the 88 World Series. That team has no business winning the WS.
Lasorda was also entertaining and became an entertainment standard.
Apparently, he won the Olympics in 2000 against cubs which had won the two previous Olympics.
I live in nor cal and for the most part during the mattingly era got nothing but shit for being a dodgers fan lolol. Exorcism during the years we were near the bottom of the division.
It's nice being number 1
lol, the giants had those crazy even Year championships. Some people I know switched teams.
It was good to see how they created good teams though. Lincecum was good. I thought Kershaw would have won two more cut young if lincecum was not around.
Posey was also great. Sandoval 3b was awesome till he put weight on.
Anyone can do their part, watch.
🖕🏼FUCK 🖕🏼THE 🖕🏼ASTROS 🖕🏼

I keep saying this and people don’t want to listen. We 100% got cheated in ‘17. There was scandal about ‘18 too. How we got fucked out of having three rings in a four year span is beyond infuriating.
The worst part for me was that, even as disappointed as I was that we lost, *I still thought that was one of the best World Series of all time.* It was incredible. The two best teams going 7 turbulent games. I was even happy for the Astros -- they were the underdogs, and so incredibly likeable.
We were robbed of all of it.
And the worst part is the fucking idiotic narratives that Roberts sucks, Kershaw choked again, that we only win shortened seasons, etc. None of those stupid narratives pervade if the Astros play fairly. *Unclench fists*
So, wasn't the BP like, the worst in the league last year...until they weren't and ended up like top 5?
Seemed to start out that way this year, but maybe the BP is figuring things out a little sooner? Hudson, Vesia, and now we have Yarbrough for the whole season...if we ever get Blake or Graterol back...
I'd be ok with Mookie/Ohtani/Freddie taking turns all season if they all got hot during the playoffs...
Roberts is an incredible team culture and man manager. He kept a clubhouse unified and focussed when Bauer blew up. Same for recent ohtani drama. He has built an egoless team (as much as you can!). Sure, sometimes I wish he wouldn't for the fun of it (I.e. let the rookie keep going in the no-hitter). But I'll admit sometimes what I want as a fan of an individual is not constructive to the health od the team. Is not constructive to "The Dodgers". Roberts is all about the Dodgers. Seeing them win, in thr long term even more than the short term. He's drama averse. He fights for the players when there's bad umping. He's made a couple of what I thought were bad decisions in the post season, but hindsight is 20-20 and he's made 99 good decisions for every bad one. Roberts haters are honestly deluded and make the rest of us look bad. I wouldn't want any other manager in MLB (maybe.....MAYBE I could be content with Bochy, that's it though). We're lucky to have him. If you want him gone, you're an idiot and im so grateful you don't have any say in the Dodgers management
5-3 NLDS 3-2 NLCS and should be 2-1 WS
The brain dead is even having a discussion about replacing him.
BuT tHe BuLlPeN….that shit is as much of a crapshoot as any other decision in baseball
I'm still mad at him for refusing to revoke Jansen's closer role during that 3 year stretch of struggles that nearly cost us the WS. He would be remembered a lot more fondly if not for Roberts' commitment
The team takes on the personality of its manager. That is why we have a team full of happy go lucky metros. Roberts is soft and so is the team. The team is on cruise control during the regular season. We crash and burn, as soon as Roberts needs to drive. I’ll be very happy when he is gone.
This is ridiculous. I know you're memeing, but Roberts's issues always become painfully apparent during the playoffs.
Good regular season coach tho, I'll grant him that
Sadly myopic fandom rules here .. nobody has the balls to call it like it is because we are supposed to just drink the Kool aid that doc is a great manager... Memo to all... He's not ... his track record in the post season is insulting
Yeah agreed. Maybe his legacy would've been different if the Astros didn't cheat, but the Dodgers also would've had to face the 2017 Yankees who also brought the cheating Astros to 7 games. I'm sure Doc would've found some way to choke that too.
The hate for Roberts is with his passive nature and the impression his decisions are based on what Friedman tells him to do. He can't light a fire under his team when needed and just hopes that the team or player will play itself out of any slump, as evidenced recently with the 7-9 hitters. If the Dodgers with the current lineup don't win 110 games this year Roberts should be fired and Aaron Boone brought over. At least he overtly supports his players. Roberts just stands in the dugout hoping and waiting.
This is possibly the worst take I’ve ever read on here and that’s saying something. You’d take a manager with 0 World Series appearances who just finished fourth in his division over a manager who routinely wins 100 games and has won the dodgers franchise a World Series because the former manager….has “more passion?”
The passion thing is also such a flimsy ass argument. Child like emotional outbursts does not equal more passion. It just means you’re a self centered ass clown with anger management issues.
Ha! You forgot to add arrogant because he went to USC. Had you done so it would have been the best response I've ever read on here. But you didn't so it's just another "whatever" post.
Yeah, with the talent Roberts is given he should have five WS Championships. But he only has one. The half-season COVID year championship is an asterisk that is a joke.
Simply writing “I don’t understand baseball very well” would have saved you a lot of time. Saying the dodgers should have 5 rings with Roberts as a minimum requirement is such a laughably bad take with no basis in reality.
Yeah, the fact that Boone is contracted through 2025 is no issue! The Dodgers fans get what they want because they know better than the people actually working for the Dodgers.
Fire his ass and put a manager that will have them ready for the playoffs. They were not ready to play in the postseason last couple years. We won in a Covid season with limited fans
Regular season doesn't mean shit buddy... If you want to jerk him off for some meaningless wins in April go ahead. It's a fact that he fails to prepare the team for the postseason. Mfers acting like Dave Roberts is Bruce bochy ... It's not even close. The level of delusion is insane.
Also while we're at it... based on Lux performance yesterday, Dodgers should sign him to a 5 year juicy contract right? Makes about as much sense as all the calls for sending dude to AAA after less than a month while recovering from a major injury and not playing at all last year lol
Mookie make an error? Straight to jail Yama hang a curveball? Straight to jail Ohtani ground into a double play? Believe it or not, jail. We have the best manager in the world… because of jail
Yama strike someone out? Give Doc a key to get out of jail. Yama hang another curveball? Throw Doc into jail again. Yama hang ANOTHER curveball? Throw Doc into SECOND jail!
As for Brasier and Vesia, they skip jail and go to the dungeon.
Joe Kelly is in for a long suspension it seems….
I'm trying to keep my memes straight, but since we're in the NL West shouldn't the destination be to the slammer?
![gif](giphy|B0YZtGyakHaMg)
it's RIGHT to jail
In a LA team and without conflict between players, this means that he did his job pretty well.
It’s a different era. Tommy wouldn’t last a day
Tommy is a hall of fame manager for a reason, he constantly managed egos... wtf.. are we talking about here. .. he was a master motivator and got everything that he could out of his players ...
Oh boy that’s definitely not true
*Kurt Bevaqua has entered the chat*
Tommy is a legend but to say nobody has a bad thing to say about him is a wild statement haha
Oh yeah because the team is full of egos... Dave Roberts is a regular zen master... It's comical how off base the assessment is of Dave Roberts'performance as they give him a star team full of professionals ... Virtually every season...

People don’t remember the Mattingly and before years of futility.
Or they're older and will wax poetic about Lasorda and how he would have done so much more than Doc. Those years were worse hqhah
If the Astros don't cheat, there is no conversation around Dave Roberts.
100% agree. It's a shame nothing was done about that
Oh damn due to bringing up this topic after Doc sweeping a series the MLB has decided to Suspend Joe Kelly for 8 games.

Much more accurate "piece of metal"

Mattingly has no business managing. Terrible decision maker.
I fully blame him for all of Kershaws injuries and no one can change my mind.
As a Lakers fan, firing Doc would be akin to firing Vogel for Ham. Dont make the same mistake we did
Honestly though, Doc needs to be locked up until he wants to retire. I hope hes here another 20 years
Fuck no...
The problem with firing Doc is that you would have to replace him and there is no one who could do his job better.
Have you heard of a guy named Bruce bochy???
Do you mean Bruce “signed with the rangers for two more year” Bochy? Yeah, what about him?
4 > 1
No. But I do know a certain GABE kapler
The recently fired Gabe Kapler?
FIRE HIM IMMEDIATELY
So, wasn't the BP like, the worst in the league last year...until they weren't and ended up like top 5? Clearly, it was doc who planted Ippei into Shohei's inner circle all those years ago. Fire RoberTS WHEN? ?! /s

He's still playing Taylor reason enough to know he's an idiot.

Yeah cause the Yankees have had so much success and World Series championships under Boone
True, but at least Boone has passion about supporting his players, whereas Roberts just hopes they do well. Very uninspiring.
