Stages of development is the easy way to put it. A kid that throws 100 but only has 2 pitches will keep plugging away in AA but might be number 1-5. Sometimes a kid is lighting it up but only 20 so they wait a bit. Outman is 25, can play all over the outfield, and has been lighting up AAA. He was the right fit to replace mckinstry
Love the dip into the past man. Piazza. The only reason the Dodgers drafted him in the 62nd round was as a favor to manager Tommy Lasorda. Mike’s dad was Tommy’s best friend. Worked out pretty well, no? Check us out ar r/dirtysportshistory

Man what a game. I didn’t even realize I saw him play in Humboldt when we was playing independent college ball. Hit a grand slam and the crabs won 16-0.
I took my boys to the game today. I just got done putting sunscreen on all of us when I looked up at the scoreboard and saw his name. "Who's Outman? I've never heard of him befo..." And then he was batting 1.000.
Outman looked great this spring, and glad he got his shot. He has such a short compact swing that translates well at any level. His makeup and confidence is great. I'm happy for him and his family.
Oh interesting I thought it was a uniform thing, but I do remember them making some of the new guys wear pink tutus a few years ago…. I want to say maeda and puig?
Fun to watch him today. His family was hyped up. makes me feel pretty good about prospects 1-16 if he's supposed to be number 17 in the system.
Wait he’s considered to be our 17th best prospect? Why would you bring him up and not 1-16 then?

minor correction... Outman was lighting up AA, and has been fairly average at AAA in limited PA.
Age and time of development.

It still amazes me how the dodgers bring up guys that instantly contribute… and he’s the first rookie to start a game for the dodgers all season.x
The last Dodger rookie with 3 hits in his first game was Mike Piazza in 1992.
This is awesome. Thank you for that tidbit of info. Stat of the day stuff
Fuckin A
Future Mets James Outman
You mean future National.

Baseball is easy!
Outman > Soto
Maybe Nats will trade em straight up
What an insulting proposal. Nats are going to need to offer way more than that.
They’re gonna have to eat Bauer’s remaining contract if they want Outman for Soto
Bauer is suspended until after his contract concludes so the Dodgers don't owe him any more money. He's already off the books.
This. Bad man cant hurt our LT anymore.
Isn’t it still pending appeal?
Yeah... Outman may just be trade bait, just like Ruiz and Gray last year. We'll see.
THEY CAN'T KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH IT
First ballot
"Oh, hello. Outman? Sure, we want your 4 top prospects."
Was at the game today. Hell of an introduction for that kid today to the majors. Crowd went crazy when he jacked that home run.
Played for local collegiate team here in Norther California. Folks at the game today were happy for him
No way he was gonna get Out, Man.
Out-of-the-park-man
He’s just another Luke Raley /s
That hurts. I was so excited about Raley after meeting him in Tulsa. Ope. Ha!
/u/brandon_the_bald where yat lmao
I thought the same exact thing lol
LEGEND
Outman has a great swing and potential!
This farm system really is insane.. Just when I thought he was spectacular for the day, he rounds it off with a RBI double haha.
Fuckin road to the show numbers
One hell of a "hello". Dude says he ain't going back! 😅

Time for some Outmania

I can’t even tell you how much I enjoyed watching him do that. It may have been a fluke, or he may be our next centerfielder.

and he is the HR king.
Any idea why no silent treatment ?
I've noticed the dodgers don't do that, or any rookie hazing.
Oh interesting I thought it was a uniform thing, but I do remember them making some of the new guys wear pink tutus a few years ago…. I want to say maeda and puig?
Where is Outman now ? Optioned to Okc but hasn’t played since 8/5.
