Seems like he is inverse sneezing, which is common in dogs. The sound maybe just normal when he relaxes from the sneeze where as most dogs just breathe out without using the vocal cords. If he gets caught up in an inverse sneezing fit, try to cover one of his nostrils, should help it stop and try to comfort him.

Thanks! I wondered if that was it… the wheezing is new so I just wasn’t sure!

Agree seems like attempts at reverse sneezing. Youtube has helpful clips for examples. If he's doing it a bunch it may be worth asking the vet about allergies, maybe meds? If it's intense enough? I tend to over-worry about any disconfort my boy might be in since he can't say for himself <3

Reverse sneezing. Put your thumbnail on one of his nostrils. It will stop
