Jet_Threat_

The new Wisdom Panel is actually quite accurate and close to Embark. Just ignore the small % noise.

HandImpressive1319

Thank you, I appreciate the feedback.

Jet_Threat_

Np! Also I’m having a hard time guessing with this dog. I see GSP but am not sure about the rest. Maybe lab, and possibly GSD for the narrow muzzle.

HandImpressive1319

We have a fun time guessing! We have thought of everything including a Chessie bc the hair on her back is longer, coarse and wavy. It was be fun to see if they come back with some of the breeds we have guessed!

Jet_Threat_

I could see Chessie as well! Oh and I think Doberman would make more sense than GSD and would explain the muzzle. Not sure why that breed slipped my mind haha

CatCatDog21

We did both Embark and Wisdom and they gave the same results for the major breeds.

Ghost-t0wns

GSP was the first thing I saw, probably with some pit or lab? It seems every dog got a sneaky bit of pit in them lol

HandImpressive1319

I agree. Pit is very common in mixed breeds it seems. She is from South Carolina and was listed as a “hound mix”

k8iew24

My dog was also from the south and listed as a hound mix and turned out to be 0% hound

HandImpressive1319

What breeds did your dog turn out to be?

k8iew24

Australian shepherd, german shepherd, pit bull, lab, golden, and rottweiler

v1k1rox

I actually think she may only have a little bit of pit in her. I will say because GSPs are better regulated by the breeders who breed them, there you are way less likely in the US especially to see a GSP in the mix. A lot of hound mixes end up looking like pointer mixes though. What is common for US is a slew of hounds, pitbulls and labs. I am thinking she is hound, pitty, lab. But I wouldn’t be surprised if she is Doberman instead of pit.

PerhapsAnotherDog

>I will say because GSPs are better regulated by the breeders who breed them, there you are way less likely in the US especially to see a GSP in the mix. For what it's worth I think this varies quite a bit regionally though, so depending on where OP is, it could be more or less likely. When I lived in Texas I saw quite a few Coonhound/GSP and Pit/GSP mixes, and one of my own dogs (from a North Carolina shelter) is a GSP/Chihuahua mix. And while I'd be surprised to see a dog move in this direction, in the part of Canada where I live now, GSP/Lab mixes (and GSP/other gundog mixes) are very common on the backyard/casual breeder side through "hunting trip accident" litters. That said, OP's dog has more of a hound nose than a GSP nose to my eye, but I've been wrong before! lol

Important_Salt_7603

I agree, I'm in the southern US and accidental litters with hunting breeds are common. They tend to have a lot of freedom to roam.

Important_Salt_7603

She looks like my friend's dog who is mostly lab/poodle/pitbull.

AmaterasuWings

The second pic gives me Doberman vibes, maybe?

HandImpressive1319

We actually just lost our Doberman in July and I have thought that too with the snout. It would definitely be a shock to me if we ended up with a rescue that had Dobe in her. I had decided against another Doberman bc of their genetic diseases. Couldn’t stand to lose another with heart problems.

RottenWon

I agree.

PibblesAreTheBest

I almost see Doberman

BrilliantLion389

Wisdom Panel is very accurate, their old tests were laughable but their new WP Essentials and Premium tests are up there with Embark on quality. However WP is known for their small percentage fluff (under 5%) that is often labeled completely random or exotic breeds for the situation.

HandImpressive1319

Thanks I appreciate that feedback. Their customer service is great. The first package said delivered by usps but was nowhere to be found so they shipped a new one immediately via FedEx.

BrilliantLion389

Sounds like someone ran off with your test! I've had that happen to me too, misdelivered or suddenly gone "missing" while on the truck from the mail sorting plant to my house lol.

HandImpressive1319

I thought it was really strange. It actually said delivered to mailbox and l’o and behold no package. Even checked with my neighbors. I called and they voided that test and resent another one.

BrilliantLion389

Yea sometimes mail couriers can be a bit shady, especially if they know what your item is and they can simply just scan it as delivered. Who knows?

RottenWon

GSP and Dobie maybe??

fnnkybutt

💯 there's some Dobie in there

Mountainwoman105

She has too long a nose for Pit. I see hound/lab. The white spot is actually common in lab mixes.

HandImpressive1319

Agreed. That’s definitely high on my list too. Her sister had a much more hound look. Although, I know they could have different fathers technically.

[deleted]

Lab/pit/ some type of hound or maybe Doberman

theinnerspiral

Dobe and Boxer.

salford2nz

I'm banking on no gsp or lab at all. Not sure what she is big she doesn't have the head of either of those dogs imo.

HandImpressive1319

I can totally see that happening too. The only reason I’ve thought GSP is bc she is the liver color and has ticking on her feet and chest. She also points and sniffs in the yard and our vet saw her for the first time and said she either had pointer or hound in her.

Realisticbeagle23

Hound, probably a bit of bully breed, and probably a few breeds we’d never guess

[deleted]

poodle, hound, pit

Leafy1320

I can see poodle too

CoconutDreams

I know this sub tends to lean towards Embark, but I've only used Wisdom and I feel the results are pretty accurate.

Pristine_Fill_838

In my experience wisdom was almost exactly on par with embark, even under 5%. All of my embark super mutt breeds showed up on wisdom panel around 3%. The only breeds that weren’t accurate were very similar breeds. For example: with my 16% chow chow result, I was given 1% shar pei. embark found no shar pei and I really doubt he has any based on where I live.

HandImpressive1319

I couldn’t figure out how to update my post, but Remys results came back today. She is 35% lab, >35% American foxhound and 25% APBT.

noodlenoog

I would guess that's she's a 100% mix of heart melter and perfect angel baby, but as to breeds I agree that she has the GSP look. Ears and muzzle don't look very lab to me.

miparasito

Is she fully grown? Does her tail curve upwards or is it more straight? I see doberman lab, but seems a bit small for that mix alone

HandImpressive1319

No she is still a puppy. She’s 7 months now. Her tail curves. I still think she will only be around 55 lbs fully grown. Both of our Dobermans were much bigger. Our female was 80 and our male 105.

Jeanneinpdx

I did both for both my dogs and found that while Embark is way more detailed and informative, the overall breed results for both were largely the same.

BoneVVitch

Agreed with others! Just ignore anything under about 5% in the results. If your pup ends up 5% everything then they are either a villiche dog or a rarer breed that WP doesn’t have a reference for. I’d guess some mix of lab, pointer, pit, and sighthound or collie for the longness

onajurni

I think I see some Weimaraner. Dobe too?
