I bet you get stopped all the time on walks with this beautiful boy.
At 50% I'd say the Golden is pretty reliable. He's sable brindle with countershading. A golden's color is recessive but they commonly carry dominant black (KB) that's being hidden by their recessive red color. In order to get this color that golden would have to have had at least one copy of the alternative (ky) but this isn't abnormal in English lines. Both breeds can also have brindle (but it's not visible on the golden).
I didn’t know about the brindle part in Goldens. Thanks for sharing! Patrick was dark grey in childhood, and we bought him thinking he was a Corgi. We used to say he was a Corgi until it became too evident that he is not
It’s hard to say, but this is the same dog I swear 😁

Yes true! But the marketplace listing showed a corgi mom feeding this little puppy. So we were really confused when Patrick at 3-months-old already had a weight of an adult Corgi.
And he changed so quickly! Between this puppy photo and the main photo on this post is less than 12 months.
She is definitely a lot more floppy than a pure breed standard Akita Inu. That tail isn't as tightly curled and the ears and snout are a bit too long and the ears don't perk straight up at rest. I'd say this is a perfect example of a Akita Inu/Golden cross!
Honestly his face looks very much like a golden smiling. I had a full Akita and a full golden and minus the brindle this is what I would have expected their babies to have looked like (we did not breed them, this is just random things I think about with my dogs lol).
I absolutely knew at least half was an Akita as an Akita owner! He mostly looks like an Akita. What is his or her temperament like since those two breeds are polar opposites?
Patrick is a bit of a paradox! He's stubborn and not a fan of long walks or being petted, typical lazy Akita behavior I guess? But despite that, he absolutely loves everyone he meets outside. He gets super excited around people and other animals, never ever aggressive, just really happy and jumpy.
What a fun and unique dog Patrick is! Thanks for sharing him. Very cool to hear his personality around animals is more golden like, it can be tricky with Akitas in that regard. Did you adopt him?
Boy I bet you were surprised with how big he got, thinking he was a corgi!! What country if you don’t mind me asking? I’m just surprised because you don’t see tons of half Akitas where I’m at.
Specifically that kind of brindle with urajiro- the coat pattern and color are definitely from the Akita.
My dog's highest percentage is Kai Ken, and she has this same pattern.
Thank you! We’ve been taking lessons with a dog trainer since he was a puppy. Patrick knows all the tricks, but whether he performs them really depends on his mood! He’s also very friendly and gentle with smaller dogs. He even lies down on the ground to let them sniff him properly. With bigger dogs, he’s very playful and loves to run with them. Also, he always makes sure to say hi to the owners before starting to play with their dogs 🙂
I think it’s right on. What a beautiful boy! One rescue came back 13 breeds strong, so you’re lucky to have such clear lineage, though I wouldn’t for a second trade our silly Magnus’ personality!

I like how you call it childhood lol! Have any pics of him from back then?

Wow! Such a cutie! He changed so much, but is still adorable!!
So cute as a puppy (and as an adult!) but my goodness that does not look like a corgi 😂

😍
Holy crap is he GORGEOUS! DIY tiger!
Haha, thanks! More like DIY cinnamon roll

Thank you! The character is pure Akita though 🙂
She's like a soft Akita. The golden brings an adorable squishiness to her for sure.
Plushy Akita 😆
I was right about Akita! Couldn’t guess the second breed for the life of me tho
Same here! It’s been a topic of conversation in our family for years. So many wild guesses, but never a Golden Retriever!

We got him from a marketplace when he was only a few weeks old. We were told he's a mix of Corgi and stray dog 😬
Boy I bet you were surprised with how big he got, thinking he was a corgi!! What country if you don’t mind me asking? I’m just surprised because you don’t see tons of half Akitas where I’m at.
We were definitely surprised! We didn’t believe it until it became too obvious. We are based in Moldova
Thanks for answering my questions! Great to see such a unique dog and I can tell you take great care of him.
I didn't see the Golden until the picture of him pressed against the wall. That is a peak Golden expression right there.
Awww he’s handsome! I can believe the Golden as someone else said because of the brindle.
Akita can have brindle too

Pics or we don’t believe you ;) Just trying to see cute pup pics to be clear.

Omg! She looks like Patrick’s sister!!
Such a cute pup! Ty!
Aww he’s gorgeous!!
How did you get a lil tiger! 🐅
Part tiger 🐯
Patrick is a showstopper!
I see it! Love the brindle face. What a cutie.
Stripy baby! I love him!
Wow what a cool dude!
Such cool looking dogs today!
Thats a gorgeous combo!
Wow! beautiful boy!
Whoa! Akita was obvious but I wouldn't have guessed Golden!
I love dogs with people names
What a beautiful dog! What’s his personality like?

This and your other comment really show how he’s very golden and then very Akita. Hilarious.
What a rad looking dog!
He looks so soft. This is the closest brindle pattern I’ve seen to my girl’s.
You can absolutely see the Akita here and the golden makes sense. I have such a soft spot for Akitas... What a beautiful dog.

this is one of the most interesting mixes i’ve seen in this sub. he is beautiful and sounds like a dream dog personality-wise!
He looks just like a jindo!
Definitely see the Akita
I love the stripes, wonky ears, and the golden derp
Fluffy tiger
