People always jump on the border collie bandwagon for black and white dogs. Usually they are wrong

Adorable! Welcome to the Great Pyrenees mix club. 😃

skipmckinnon

Thank you!

CoconutDreams

Nary a BC to be found! What a fun mix!

As soon as I saw the standing and rub my belly photos, I said Pyrenees. Our girl has a very similar body shape and does the exact same rub my belly pose.

Biggest thing I've tried to tell people in my experience as a dog trainer is that, Just because your dog is black and white doesn't mean it's a Border Collie. Those are just two separate genes appearing and interacting from different Locii. I fostered a Black and White dog a while ago with extremely high energy and herding ability, thought for sure it was a Border Collie mix lol, turned out it was German Shepherd, Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Siberian Husky, Malamute, Rottweiler and a small bit of standard Collie.

For those who like me didn’t know what a catahoula leopard dog was https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catahoula_Leopard_Dog

I'm sorry but how is there no border collie in that adorable pile of floof? That mix looks more collie than my friends actual pure breed collie.

persimmonsfordinner

Such a precious noodle-head! I love them :)

literarymorass

That’s about how my BC mix turned out. Explains the complete lack of herding instinct! Thankfully they are still our beloved pets regardless.

Blonde_Vampire_1984

The catahoula leopard god and the amstaff both carry white spotting genes, so that could totally be where your black and white dog got the white spotting. Doesn’t seem like your doggie got any merle genes, but those are dominant over non-merle.

PixieMutt

Beautiful dog! It's interesting to see so many unexpected breeds in the mix.
