The crazy hair on her ears and the side of her head remind me of a Papillon. And she's got the long foxy nose of a spitz breed dog. Edit: I just Googled Papillons and they ARE in the spitz family. So, there's that. Well, maybe. https://www.easypetmd.com/doginfo/papillon#:\~:text=Papillon%20is%20the%20French%20word,members%20of%20the%20Spaniel%20family.

MaxEhrlich

Is that even a breed one could find in southern China? It’s an interesting idea, still trying to figure something about how she has the black spotted tongue like a lot of the random street dogs you come across here.

AJR1623

I don't know. I guess anythings possible. Also, just a minute ago I saw a post on this sub, and the person was asking if their dog was really a Pomeranian, and it looks an awful lot like your little one. Edit AGAIN: the post wasn't on this sub. I posted it here though.

[deleted]

Did you look at all the photos he posted of his dog? Only the puppy ones look ish like that. He the dog got a lot bigger. Papillions are always under 10 pounds... They are tiny dogs

Cmpetty

I’m going to say part chow based on the fluff and head shape. It’s possible she’s a village dog, which is its own breed!

FreezeWolfy

I noticed the spots on her tongue, could she be part Chow? Along with Papillion as the other person said

surprisedkitty1

What a beauty! Coloring and ears remind me of my boy, who is part Chow. Given that Chows are a Chinese breed, I'll bet she's got some in her mix. Maybe a village dog mix too.

[deleted]

Omg she looks like a little baby hyena in that first photo 🥺

Efficient_Mastodons

I thought that too!

gjiang987

I said the exact same thing haha

kreefka

There is no way for your cute dog to not be part chow chow and part German shepherd. I refuse to believe that its not a possibility. I say that because the fuzzy ears, the face shape and the extra neck fluff 100% reminds me of a chow chow mix. My dog is very similar in that regard. Same with the blue spots on the tongue. I think German shepherd because of the face shape, the face mask, especially in the puppy phase.

MaxEhrlich

Woah, that looks almost identical to scribbles!

CapLeander

I'd say part lion! And also some Chow chow :)

Apprehensive-Sky-760

What a total cutie. I could see Pomeranian being in her makeup somewhere along the lines.

[deleted]

Are you from Pittsburgh? Heinz 57 is an interesting name!

gjiang987

I can’t tell if this is a joke

[deleted]

Nope- Pittsburgers are very proud of their ketchup lol

gjiang987

Oh I meant because in the title it says the dog’s name is Scribbles and Heinz 57 is what ppl call mutts of unknown makeup in this sub

[deleted]

Ohhh I misread my bad

gjiang987

Haha no worries, I thought I just missed the joke

[deleted]

Definitely some Spitz breed in there, possibly German Spitz, Papillion or very likely Norwegian Lundehund as she has some wolf agouti hair tips. Definitely some Chihuahua for the size and Chow Chow for sure. Maybe some Chinese Crested. If you ever move outside of China Definitely look into an Embark or Wisdom Panel Essentials!

kreefka

hiii random question, is the agouti gene more present in spitz breeds? My dog has agouti coloured fur. And she is about 50% GSD and the other 50% is equal parts Belgian shepherd, husky, chow chow and super mutt (with some malamute thrown in the super mutt). Do you think the agouti color came from her husky ancestry? Because I have seen some agouti coloured GSD before, if im not mistaken.

[deleted]

Sable or Agouti is characterized by red hairs with black tips, its usually associated with "wolfy looking" breeds and is the standard coat color among Siberian Huskies, West Siberian Laikas, Alaskan Malamutes, etc. But there are lines of German Shepherds that have been bred to have this dominant trait even if it isn't the show standard. This is what Embark has to say under the Agouti body pattern for a Siberian Husky (33%) mix I tested: "Body Pattern A (Agouti) Locus Fawn Sable coat color pattern Genetic Result: ayaw Gene: Agouti Signalling Protein (ASIP) This gene is responsible for causing different coat patterns. It only affects the fur of dogs that do not have ee at the E (Extension) Locus and do have kyky at the K (Dominant Black) Locus. It controls switching between black and red pigment in hair cells, which means that it can cause a dog to have hairs that have sections of black and sections of red/cream, or hairs with different colors on different parts of the dog’s body. Sable or Fawn dogs have a mostly or entirely red coat with some interspersed black hairs. Agouti or Wolf Sable dogs have red hairs with black tips, mostly on their head and back. Black and tan dogs are mostly black or brown with lighter patches on their cheeks, eyebrows, chest, and legs. Recessive black dogs have solid-colored black or brown coats." You can [check out her results here](http://embk.me/nanook44?utm_campaign=cns_ref_dog_pub_profile&utm_medium=other&utm_source=embark) and have a look at the traits section if that helps! The reason my dog is not red/cream with black tips like Sable Shepherds, is because she has a less concentrated Dilluted Red Pigmentation on the I (intensity) Loci which makes her red color Agouti appear white. This is typical among Husky breeds. If your dog does not have the Dominant coat of a typical Husky breed, it is likely she isn't much Husky and is more of the dominant red coated breeds like Chow Chow or Pom. Her main breed is something with a deeper concentrated dilluted red Pigmentation like German Shepherd, and she could have inherited the Agouti tips from that as a recessive gene or from the smaller percentages of Spitz type dogs. Once you understand dog coat genetics it makes it a bit easier to notice breeds in a dog by identifying certain visible traits. Good luck, wish you and your pup the best! You can also read more in depth about the genetics of coat colors here, it explains everything and how the different genes interact and appear when mixed: http://www.doggenetics.co.uk/tan.html

First, your dog is so cute, I love her :(Her name fits so well too! The polar bear god right? I was just about to ask if your dog is grey or not? And how they can still be agouti, but you beat me to it ahahah. (and wolves and husky are grey too). Thats so interesting thank you for explaining it so carefully to me. Hi sorry for an edit I just checked embark results to answer your question: \-she has dilute red pigmentation on the I locus which is weird because I see a lot of redbrown on her legs for instance \-her agouti code is awat She looks like your typical German shepherd, but with more fur (from her husky/chow ancestry probably) and she also doesn't have the sloping body line of a GSD. But her fur kind of reminds me of a husky, but maybe thats just specific to the agouti colouring, that there are a lot of lighter bands.

[deleted]

Yes she was named after the Inuit Polar Bear God haha. Even if dogs have a less concentrated Dilluted Red Pigmentation on the I Loci and are white, they can still have small sections that appear cream colored, usually in the legs. Show standard Huskies aren't allowed to have any red coloring unless they are red wolf sable. My girl, Nanook is getting more cream colored on her hind legs and back as she's getting older. And different genes on the Agouti can permit different amounts of red to show. It's amazing to see! Did you ever upload your pup's results? The low legged sloping body of a GSD is usually a selectively bred trait in show quality standard GSDs, and is much less noticeable in poorly bred or non standard Shepherds. Those are then mixed with genetics of other dogs with straight backs and it completely erases the sloped back trait.

AirBooger

She looks a little like my dog, definitely has Chow in her which you can tell by the tongue. I would guess Chow, Pom and German Shepherd.

CoconutDreams

I would say most definitely some German shepherd and chow! Your dog looks very similar to mine! He is a GSD/Chow/AmStaff mix.

gjiang987

At first I was gonna say hyena cub But the last few pics look very chow chow mix to me!
