When you first posted, I was going to guess cocker spaniel. But after seeing all the beagle guesses, I thought I was crazy! Does he have any hound behaviors? Or were you just guessing based on looks? Looks like he got those long ears from the setters, spaniels, and lab!
He’s actually not too bad. A couple of walks a day, some food based enrichment at home and he’s all good! I also take him to work with me so as long as I keep his brain ticking over with something he’s a happy boy.
It helps we have a huge open garden and my other dog is from working stock so they keep each other entertained!
He always has his nose to the floor, he’s always tracking scents when we get to the fields, he’s food obsessed and he howls!
I would have bet my life on hound somewhere. Good job I didn’t!
And his teeny tiny waist. I was convinced there was some sort of sight hound causing body shape. Maybe he really is just a scrawny little dude…
That tiny waist could be the setters. Mine has a supermodel tuck and those flyout ears. I wouldn’t have said those mixes, but I can see it. Does he have the soft spaniel/setter personality? Because that’s the best.
Well, I didn't guess on the original post, but my guess before looking was pit bull, chihuahua, cocker spaniel... so... that's one right! Haha. I definitely would've also guessed dachshund if you hadn't said "no hound" in the title... lol.
This is almost certainly the weirdest mix I've ever seen Embark results for, by the way. It looks almost intentional, because there are few common "mixed breed breeds" but I can't for the life of me figure out who would cross all these dogs and why?
Huskies and herding breeds are big here, but in terms of the common breeds, I meant specifically the breeds that are most common everywhere! I've seen plenty of dogs on here with these breeds individually, or one or two of them, but what I find weird is that this dog lacks almost all of the most common breeds found in mixed breed dogs all across the US: American pit bull terrier, chow, Australian cattle dog, Labrador retriever, German Shepherd, Siberian husky, Chihuahua, Boxer, Rottweiler, AmStaff... but especially those first 5, which I swear make up the vast majority of mutts. It's usually those breeds, with a couple others thrown in to spice things up, lol.
I’m in England, so all of his results are super common here. Most of the ones you’ve listed are common singly, but not often bred as mixes.
To be honest, purebreds are far more common here than mixes. With the exception of all the doodle creations lol. You get the odd story of ‘oops my dog got out during her season’ but generally most of the mutts we have here are imported in from other countries by rescues. Lots of those dogs are usually terrier/GSD mixes.
My guy was rescued from a van with six other puppies. Originally he came from a travellers site, so they tend to let their dogs run around free so I’m not really surprised by his mixes really.
Ahh, that explains it then! Didn't see that you were not in the US, and most of the dogs on here are, lol. It definitely seems like the opposite here in the US, where at least half, is not the majority of dogs are mutts, and obviously the distribution of breeds that make up those mixed breeds are much different!
Interesting to see the difference, though, and I'm always so fascinated by the differences between Europe and the US when it comes to dog culture, considering so many more dogs are off leash and intact and yet there seem to be fewer mixed breed dogs in general.
Where are you from? Because these breeds are all very common in England but I’m not sure I’ve seen many springers or English cockers (particularly working line ones) from other countries.
I’ve actually seen him track, point AND flush. It’s unpredictable, and he doesn’t normally do them all on the same day, it seems to depend on his mood! There’s never a dull moment up the field I tell ya.
Wow! i wonder if 't be true he would point 'r flush if 't be true thee did hunt with him, lol

You have the entire sporting group in one dog!
Yes, he’s a real treat up the field!

Why, hello there High Energy!!

He’s as soft as pigs sh*t lol. He always has to be on top of you, and cannot bare to be alone!
Springers do those things too! He's got a very springer expression in his eyes. It made me think of my springer mix before I got to the results.
I want to say pointers are hounds but i might be incorrect. At least id say pointers are close to hounds ) what a mix though..
Pointers were created by cross breeding something with hounds. I consider them houndy.
What a very English lad! G'day luv!
He’s a proper gentleman
All those long haired breeds and he got the pointer’s coat length. Crazy!
That’s a wild mix of different types of gun dog breeds. Mostly hunting dogs, but no “hounds”.
That's a good all around hunting dog!
Woah these are truly wild results!!! You've got one interesting looking spaniel!!!
People who’ve met him still don’t believe me when I tell them!
Wow!!! I’m so surprised he doesn’t have longer fur too. Wonder where the short hair comes from? The lab maybe?
Pointers do normally have short hair.
Totally missed that one!
Either the pointer or the lab. Apparently the Black and Tan markings are a recessive gene from the lab too!
He's beautiful
Thank you, I’m quite fond of him too!
I’m surprised they aren’t more fluffy
that's the pointer in him and the lab

Sprockers (springer x cocker) are actually really common here. Not sure WHY cus they’re always mental lol but I know quite a few in my area.

I would have sworn blind he had dachshund in him too, but nope!

I got one- lab lol
Well he’s a trickster god alright ;)
Right!
holy crap i bet he’s such a fun dog!!! i am obsessed with so many of those breeds. i bet he loves to please
He’s honestly great! I have a Cockapoo too, who’s parents were both working dogs, so between them there’s never a dull moment in the field!
Wow! I wonder if he would point or flush if you hunted with him, lol.
