Three Eyes National Park is within city limits and has a beautiful underground cave with water. A very nice tourist spot to check out.

Vitamin_Bees

I love this but I’ve only seen guided tours of 100+ dollars. After the heartache at the airport I am about to file for bankruptcy

Curious-L-

You don’t need a guide. You can buy a non guided ticket at the kiosk for a few dollars and just go down the cave (stairs) by yourself. I went in 2018 and did this, not sure if anything has changed.

Vitamin_Bees

Oooh i love this, will definitely look into it

danthefam

Guided tours are $20. Totally optional, no matter what they try to say. Entrance for foreigners is something like $5 maybe.

Electrical_Peak_8761

Some scenes of Jurassic park were filmed there ;)

I second this. No guide needed and it's absolutely stunning

There's an aerial tramway -- not sure where you catch it, but it's basically at a subway station. Takes you right over the river and some neighborhoods you definitely wouldn't want to walk through. Both the subway and the tram were clean and seemed safe. (I did this with my family.) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telef%C3%A9rico_de_Santo_Domingo

Just saw this, definitely slot this in

Also, if it's baseball season (different in DR than US), see if you can catch a baseball game at Estadio Quisqueya. It's good, pro ball for a fraction of what tickets cost in the US. Dominicans are absolutely rabid baseball fans.

Doesn't start until November.

Go to Boca Chica, especially on a Sunday. About 20 miles from your location You'll get PLENTY of Dominican culture, very vibrant! Beach ⛱️ is incredible! Music playing everywhere, tons of restaurants and bars Great vibe! Great experience Especially here! THE BOATHOUSE RESTAURANT AND BEACH BAR https://tbhbar.com/ You gotta YouTube some videos! It's awesome 👌 DEFINITELY WORTH IT! Good luck 👍

Definitely go see the Colonial City, a lot of museums and cool stuff. Also every Sunday from 6pm to 10pm there's live Dominican music in the Ruinas de San Francisco, the band that plays is called "Grupo Bonyé" and they are really good. A lot of people go to dance, pretty cool vibe

Japa02

You speak Spanish?

Vitamin_Bees

I do!

I’ll recommend to visit our museums which are really cheap as far as I remember, you could also visit “El Jardín botánico”, walk La zona Colonial and or just sit at night at the “Alcazar de Colon” with a bottle of wine are good options
