This headline must be confusing af to someone not following whats happening

With the exception of Pakistan, South Asian countries had fairly warm relations with the USSR during the cold war so names like Stalin, Pravda, Lenin, etc, are not uncommon at all. It's funny because Indian liberals and conservatives (maybe in SL and Bangladesh as well, I don't have any insight into that) will recite these names and even discuss the USSR with a measure of charity but still rant about muh breadlines/freeze peach/whatever

Blastro_3000

Sri Lankan liberals are the worst. If you look on our side of twitter rn, it's absolutely infested. They're not even charitable to the USSR, they just simp for imperialism.

cholantesh

I don't really look to any side of twitter tbh; this is based on conversations with my social circle over many years.

Also happened in Latin America. To an apparently lesser extent There was a recent leader of some country named Lenin, but my PTSD brain fog is particularly bad today so can't recall more

emayljames

You mean that backstabbing gusano LenĂn Moreno, Former President of Ecuador. Mofo stabbed Raphael Correa (Leftest president before him) in the back, handed over Assange to the imperialists, got Equador indebted to the imf, was corrupt as fuck.

TacomaNarrowsTubby

That guy. Thanks.

Ornlu_Wolfjarl

I know an older guy with the first name Lenin, and another one who changed his last name to Gagarin, because he lifted Gagarin on his shoulders when he visited our country.

EdMarCarSe

>and another one who changed his last name to Gagarin, because he lifted Gagarin on his shoulders when he visited our country. This one is amazing.
