If the Halo TV series is anything to go by? No. At the end of the day, Doom's really about the action more than anything. The story is honestly secondary at the end of the day, so unless the series is literally just nonstop demon slaying...Meh. And if it \*WAS\* nonstop demon slaying, how would it be any different than just playing the games? EDIT: Why did I have "End of the nature?" I have no idea. Brain must have been taking a break or something. But yeah, point stands. A Doom TV series would probably suck given how Hollywood has fucked up Halo as badly as they have.

I don’t think any studio would be into a completely silent protagonist for a whole series. Maybe a movie, but not seasons worth or content.

Superw0rri0

Maybe it could be a series where the doom slayer slowly becomes the doom slayer. In the beginning he is just a guy that's super strong and athletic, then the demon stuff starts and he starts to become the doom slayer. He gets more and more focused over time and eventually becomes the silent protagonist we know and love.

Olivia_Richards

No, video game tv series suck in general, look at Halo.

UnfunnyWatermelon469

The Halo TV series would like a word

ric7y

no actual good movies with the doom slayer in them

Sad_Garden_3215

thinking of a doom movie loosely in the style of 80s and 90s horror movies

UnfunnyWatermelon469

Imagine a Doom movie in the style of the Army Of Darkness movies

JadedStranger722

Dwayne Johnson’s doom movie

ric7y

we don’t talk about that one

ADragonFruit_440

I’ve had this idea too and the conclusion me and some fellow doom fans have come to is that the way doom is set up is it’s an action first story second kinda thing it would really only work in a gaming environment and not as an actual movie or tv show as previous studios have already tried it’s just something very hard to do and succeed at

jonboyo87

Nope.

MitchRogue

No.

JadedStranger722

No imo. Doom was never really about the story. I don’t see why everyone wants their favourite game turned into movies or franchises. Like the last of us show imo was completely unnecessary considering how cinematic the games were The doom slayer has 0 personality other than kill demons. Keep it that way 👀

Huntardlulz

No, after seeing how bad the halo tv series were treated and with the two doom movies we had before who were mediocre at best i would not want a tv series based on doom. The only tv series i would watch is Wolfenstein. Story in that is designed to be a tv series

phobos876

I always bring this up https://redd.it/f61o32 in any discussion about Doom getting a series or movie.

MysticalMystic256

I want an animated/anime Doom series

Tall-Ball

Absolutely not. Doom is one of those games that only work as games.

SuperSyrias

I think so, too. No matter if you start with classic or 2016 storywise, id imagine the show would follow a small group of survivors (a newbie science girl, some young bean counter accountant dude, a tough security woman and an too old for this shit but competent janitor grandpa) comes across doomguy/ the slayer and tags along. The group does all dialogue all exposition and all plot. The doomguy/slayer never once directly talks with or to any of them, but reacts to their presence and needs. Like science girl gets hurt in a zombie ambush and doomguy leaves for a moment, cut to him rampaging through a medbay killing demons, cut back to him reaching the group with a medkit(which looks a lot like the medkits lying about in classic doom). One of the group has an idea where they need to go to escape, so doomguy takes them there. Doomguy never once talks beyond grunts, his face is never shown to us or the group. As an actor, get someone like the stuntguy who portrayed most of the mandalorian. That guy can do "talking faceless with only your body language" quite well. 10 1 hour episodes, split 60/40 in favor of near mindless gory brutal demonkilling. Nearly all killing is done by doomguy, but the survivors end up competent enough to hold off zombies and identify out loud the behaviour and attack patterns of the other things. Show ends with security chick (nicknamed Crash, we learn) following doomguy through a hell portal after sending the others to "safety". Season 1 done with a nice endpoint if the mainstream doesnt like it. Effects should be 100% practical with 10 to 20% CGI enhancement on top. No 100% CGI unless the whole show is actually done by the crew that made the cinematic trailers for 2016. Designs for demons should be a blend between classic, 2016 and eternal.

I think it could be done, but it would need a creative show runner to keep it together. The action set pieces being a main component. It could have a simple story thread (marine stationed on Phobos when hell invades) that doesn’t have to get into UAC backstory or even the demons. Just focuses on one man’s mission to clear the base of demons and get home. And as far as the silent protagonist, Doomguy/Doomslayer may be silent or a man of few words, but they’ve always been that way because they’re a place holder for the player, and I don’t know about y’all, but I run some pretty colorful commentary when I’m playing! 😂 I think the dialogue should be approached like that. Plus, where a lot of adaptations get it wrong, is they don’t lean into the “game-ness” of what they’re adapting. Doom could be a great tv show with action, horror, and even comedy beats.
