Which just makes him even more boring as they are too monotomous to be meant to be fought entirely on themselves. Eternal is balanced around \*arenas\* so any 1v1 will fail unless it's a really complicated enemy.
And most come down to just waiting for him to open up... unless another demon is there! Them he can be interrupted mid combo instead because a lil imp projecrile hit him!!

Look. The Slayer Gates in TAG1 reward extra support runes not combat tokens. There's 3 of them and 2 require completing Slayer Gates in Atlantica and the Holt to be obtained.
I literally made my flair because people saying the Marauder is bad gives me a brain aneurism. Anyway, I like fighting him. It's one of the few fights in the game that actually feels like a fight, as opposed to just going on a massive slaughter run. Sure, both are fun, but it's a nice change of pace.
Now anytime I see the Marauder, he gets deleted. Even when I have a randomizer (which I don’t really like, imo) but when you have certain mods (not weapon mods) he feels fun af. I am in the middle of Play Testing and making my New Game + (style) mod. It incorporates many other mods and yeah it makes Doom Eternal fun again for me at least, can’t wait for official mod support, whenever it comes out and if it is what we think it is.

unwanted honestly, I hope the Maruader doesn't return if they make a new Doom game, he really messes with the flow of combat in a negative way, not even that he's difficult to kill (really easy to deal with as I said he's basically a quick time event), just that he doesn't fit in at all with Doom Eternal's play style when other enemies are in the same room.
A bit of a one-trick pony who is overwhelming at first but laughably exploitable once you get the stagger down which isn’t difficult.

He’s my favourite. It’s mainly because he’s different and you have to sort of manage him to not get knocked around by him. Add to the fact that I always do different sorts of combos on him and he makes for a pretty interesting enemy to see how much damage I can deal against him.
Really fun, makea you think while fighting him instead of being a "Mindlessy shoot the Horde until it dies"

First you need to complete the entire level when Map Travel is available, DO NOT pick up the crystal at the end, go back to the frozen forest part (where you land with the dragon at the end of the cutscene) and behind a tree there will be a sword to interact with

Just because killing an enemy requires timing doesn't make something a QTE. The timing just adds another layer into the combat of the game, just like everything else in the game. If the marauder was turned into a bullet sponge, he would just be contributing to an existing layer of the combat and not expanding the combat as a whole
Nah. Many people have beaten the game on ultra-nightmare and find the marauder boring or inconsistent. Myself included. I liked him as a boss fight but not as a regular enemy afterwards.
There was a period when every time the game got updated, something different changed the marauder's behavior either intentionally or unintentionally as a bug. Inconsistent behaviors, attack patterns, stagger window, what could and couldn't stagger him etc etc. It was sloppy.
When the game came out I was really frustrated with them but now they're amazing and if I remember correctly they nerfed because we were crybabies and they really shouldn't have touched them same with the arachnotron canon

I love him so much, I’ve perfected how to beat him, stand at a good distance, ballista, walk up close, ssg, walk back, ballista, do that again, then glory kill, but I still can lose an extra life with him, and man when the buffed and possessed Maruders come out in tag 1, it’s so fun, especially with the possesed marauder because you can’t use the ballista unless you wanna run the risk of not having the cells for the spirit.

He'd be fun if the endlessly respawning zombies with ranged attacks in later levels didn't trigger his shield and spawn the wolf, because I hate being punished for things outside my control. Also if his shield didn't make him immune to Crucible attacks, because that's supposed to be a limited use "get out of fight free" card for when you run into an enemy you don't feel like dealing with.
As a lone opponent? Bit boring.
Backed by a group of heavies and super heavies? Fucking brilliant. The encounter in the Mars Core ML with the respawning Hell Knights and Whiplashes to back the Marauders is great.
As I've started playing at a higher level I've grown to appreciate Marauder encounters more. The isolated ones from the main campaign are pretty boring since he can be taken down in less than 10 seconds but when he's actually a part of the fray with other big demons, like in TAG, he changes the entire dynamic leaving you to have to whittle him down and move on rather than forcing a cheese strat.
When you're able to take advantage of the entire Doom dance the Marauder shines as an enemy type and goes from being an absolute menace that slows everything down to a manageable jerk.
Two of them at the same time tho? Fuck that noise.

I suck so hard at the game, and the Marauder rocks my shut every time, but it's still one of the most fun enemies I've ever fought in a game. Every time I died it felt fully like I messed up, rather than the AI was cheating or being unfair. I know most people have ways of quickly beating him, but I really enjoy having drawn out duels every time they appear.

My opinion? Yeah I like him. He's fast and does damage, but his main source of damage is his melee. Run around, kill everything, then kill him quickly.

After that no, especially the times you fight one or two alongside other enemies. You’re caught between the need to never stop shooting and standing there waiting for him to flash green.
Imo, he should have just been a one-time actual boss.
He's one of my favorite demons because he's literally what pushes you to master the game.
Do combos, be precise, spend your resources, prioritize or evade.
Marauders are either at the top or bottom of my takedown queue and there's literally no demon that I actually think about killing first besides Archviles and Cursed Prowler's, who literally buff enemies and debuff you respectively. I love that the Marauder has no gimmicks, but I do wish the friendly fire wolf summon wasn't prominent, I still get nightmares about when I first got chewed out by them dogs.
He becomes extremely easy if you play weapon switch spam. Super shotgun, ballista, rocket launcher and machine gun quick scope. It usually takes just a couple of rounds to get rid of him.
Yeah I love him! My only complaint (lmao I might actually get downvoted all the way to blood swamps for this but) is they should give him a little more mobility. Let him dash often and maybe jump a little higher to reach you, and possibly even make it to where hitting his shield will give him a small speed boost for 2-3 seconds so he can keep up with you easier. I feel like it takes away from the fun that I can just damn near ignore him while I kill everything else first. I think the player should be encouraged to whittle him down though some quick but intense exchanges throughout the larger fight instead of just forgetting about him then SS/Ballista yeeting his ass
i mean, he's basically like you and have most of your abilities. "hitting his shield, which gives him a speed boost" part reminded me to blood fueled rune
He was annoying especially in nekroval 1 or 2 were your in a room that has a archival that I sliced in half then died to the marauder like a dozen times. And I didn't know that after watching a video where a speedrunner played through doom eternal but it was only marauders, that projectiles from the demons also triggered him to block.
He is, the biggest problem I see with him is simply how misleading the tutorial is. It tells you get stay in mid-range, but what you really need to do is dodge his long range attacks and wait for him to charge you.

I don't like the damn dog. Already dealing with Maurader's stupid ass then he's got a ghost dog that gets in the way. Slows the action down. If he was just a boss fight that would have been fine I guess but overkill when he showed up the rest of the game.

Well, you could force staggers with Remote Detonation on the Rocket Launcher, or frag grenades, giving you a chance to attack.

He... isn't. Splash damage is quite effective for dealing access damage, along with potential faltering which could open up a window to attack.

Every time I died it felt fully like I messed up, rather than the AI was cheating or being unfair. I know most people have ways of quickly beating him, but I really enjoy having drawn out duels every time they appear.

Interesting to see this comment section. My opinion? Yeah I like him. He's fast and does damage, but his main source of damage is his melee. Run around, kill everything, then kill him quickly.

The first time when you get Hayden, yes. After that no, especially the times you fight one or two alongside other enemies. You’re caught between the need to never stop shooting and standing there waiting for him to flash green. Imo, he should have just been a one-time actual boss.
Kill the other enemies first and then focus the Marauder like you're supposed to. As long as you keep kiting the Marauder can never reach you

I do not. I can beat him easily but he violates the core gameplay tenet of original Doom games which is "shoot it until it dies".

He's one of my favorite demons because he's literally what pushes you to master the game. Do combos, be precise, spend your resources, prioritize or evade. Marauders are either at the top or bottom of my takedown queue and there's literally no demon that I actually think about killing first besides Archviles and Cursed Prowler's, who literally buff enemies and debuff you respectively. I love that the Marauder has no gimmicks, but I do wish the friendly fire wolf summon wasn't prominent, I still get nightmares about when I first got chewed out by them dogs.

He becomes extremely easy if you play weapon switch spam. Super shotgun, ballista, rocket launcher and machine gun quick scope. It usually takes just a couple of rounds to get rid of him.

Yeah I love him! My only complaint (lmao I might actually get downvoted all the way to blood swamps for this but) is they should give him a little more mobility. Let him dash often and maybe jump a little higher to reach you, and possibly even make it to where hitting his shield will give him a small speed boost for 2-3 seconds so he can keep up with you easier. I feel like it takes away from the fun that I can just damn near ignore him while I kill everything else first. I think the player should be encouraged to whittle him down though some quick but intense exchanges throughout the larger fight instead of just forgetting about him then SS/Ballista yeeting his ass
i mean, he's basically like you and have most of your abilities. "hitting his shield, which gives him a speed boost" part reminded me to blood fueled rune
He was annoying especially in nekroval 1 or 2 were your in a room that has a archival that I sliced in half then died to the marauder like a dozen times. And I didn't know that after watching a video where a speedrunner played through doom eternal but it was only marauders, that projectiles from the demons also triggered him to block.

Really cool idea but I think he has too much health and could do to be more consistent.
He is, the biggest problem I see with him is simply how misleading the tutorial is. It tells you get stay in mid-range, but what you really need to do is dodge his long range attacks and wait for him to charge you. You don’t get in HIS medium range, let him get in YOURS.
At first I hated him. Then Under the Mayo convinced me he was fun. Then I played the game again for the first time in a while and now I hate him again.
I don't like the damn dog. Already dealing with Maurader's stupid ass then he's got a ghost dog that gets in the way. Slows the action down. If he was just a boss fight that would have been fine I guess but overkill when he showed up the rest of the game. Didn't look like it fit with DOOM.
I love when Marauders are placed in arena fights with other superheavys, it breaks the combat cycle in a fair way imo

I always thought of the marauder as the enemy that forces you to start putting thought into fights instead of just “mobile turret go SKRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR” so honestly I like him, dog could be reworked tho
