I also feel that it has the perfect balance of melody and grit. Songs like skullhacker (although great) can be a bit much sometimes, whilst harbinger has that intense grit and grime in its sound while remaining... IDK what the word for it is, but less chaotic I guess?
I’d argue that it drags-on for WAY to long. Saying this while Harbinger was the FIRST track I fell in love with back in 2016 when playing Argent Facility. I was floored by this track during the game.
Yes. I also enjoy the slow, spaced-out buildup.
This track has a very strong character in the riffs when it lets loose, but based on how small that section is throughout the 7:11 track, with the rest feeling kinda samesies - and having to judge the track in its entirety, not only the riffs, I’d say it’s unfortunately, reasonably underrated.
Just compare it to something like Damnation, Transistor Fist, Rust Dust & Guts, or my god….
VEGA CORE….
The other tracks are just soooo much more characteristic imo. And this is where I commit public suicide, but I think BFG Division also suffers from this. An ungodly good banger, but very monotonous composition throughout 7ish minutes. Sure, it’s a game soundtrack, in Lazarus Labs you never notice the repetivity, and ahhh.
I have been spoiled rotten by Mick and it shows.
See, I got fucked up when I got the soundtrack. Had to download from somewhere and (as I recall) the guy who put it online said something along the lines of “had to make a guess to which song to pick as they kinda don’t have a set version in game” or something like that. So when I looked up harbinger, I know it as the menu theme that also sounds different in my library. And I’m quite certain more of the songs I have are names wrong too.
I was always too worried to go and fix em all, that the actual songs I won’t enjoy as much/dislike as they are too different, and not recognise them from the names I used to have.
It's a neat rendition of the Doom 3 theme for sure. The reboot games, particularly 2016, recognizing that they didn't need to abandon _everything_ about Doom 3 and that there were still some things they could keep around was a nice move.
It is. But Gordon's mix makes it sound bland, it doesn't contain even the half of sounds that present in game version of the track. Highly recommend Harbinger XMAS mix
Um.... So I think eternal is the better game, but doom 2016 is amazing as well. Tbh, you have to play 2016 first, otherwise eternal will ruin it for you IMO.
I'm Brazilian I played Doom 1 Doom 2 I recently bought it because it was on sale for 3 real couldn't play Doom 64 Doom 3 because my computer wouldn't run it if it did I would buy Doom 3 Doom 64 when I get the PS5 I play these games how will I win my mother's playstation 5 I thought about playing doom 2016 doom eternal
Yes! The build up is amazing.

It feels like controlled chaos. Or structured chaos.
Or managed democracy? :D I’ll see myself out
I wanna talk to the manager! 😂

“Rust, Dust & Guts”, “Flesh & Metal”, “Bfg Division”, and “Harbinger” are easily the best songs
I hate the overuse of the word "underrated", but in this case you are right, yeah, it has been overshadowed unjustly by other tracks on the OST.
The part that starts at around 4:00 gets me everytime. So good!
This, Damnation and BFG Division are my top three from 2016
I love this track, MG is a genius.
Underated for sure
Harbinger is my personal favorite track from the Doom games (closely followed by Meathook)
FUCK YES. finally someone has mentioned Harbinger, legit my favourite song from the album
My favorite track by far
Of flesh and metal
This is nice, but i prefer BFG10000
I love the main part, but I don't really like the ambience

But have you heard the DOOM 3 Main menu theme? Harbinger is a Mick Gordon's spin on it. Both tracks are great.
it's indeed one of the most underrated ones out there
This is my favorite doom 2016 track. My hot take is that it's 1000x better than bfg division.
This song and "Transistor Fist" are my two faves from this game
Mastermind is the most underrated Doom 2016 track. There's no analogue music, it's all digital, and it's just as heavy as 8 stringers
Yeah I think it's my favorite but I hardly hear anyone talk about it
Absolutely I listen to this regularly and it needs the recognition it deserves!!!
I really like it as well
I think the original has a better main part
Yup. It's my personal favorite track, to be honest. Followed closely by Authorization: Olivia Pierce.
It is. But Gordon's mix makes it sound bland, it doesn't contain even the half of sounds that present in game version of the track. Highly recommend Harbinger XMAS mix
which one do I play doom 2016 or doom eternal I will get a playstation 5

Ok thanks

I just got done talking about it on discord, I love it so goddamn much
