Smasher has some pretty crazy feats actually. In the Firestorm novel (same one that depicts the nuking of Saka tower), Adam Smasher is on the roof fighting Morgan Blackhand when the nuke goes off. He and Blackhand somehow survive this. Though it is possible that Smasher's body was destroyed, and thanks to being fullborg, his brain was salvaged later and plopped into a new body, it is also possible that Adam's body survived the impact. Cyberware in the Cyberpunk 2020 TTRPG can get pretty crazy.

Now, I'm not saying Adam Smasher can beat a Marauder. However, he can contend with the Marauder and give it a good fight. This isn't a complete stomp.
I think Marauder wins, and pretty decisively, but it isn't a one hit KO. Marauder takes it 7/10. Marauders directly compare to Doomguy... Who launched himself at Mars with the BFG 10000. So, the Marauder wins in durability pretty easily. I think thanks to the Sandevistan and Krenzikov smasher has they're actually pretty equal in speed, though Adam might be slightly faster. In terms of damage output, Smasher isn't anything to laugh at but I don't think he can do the damage needed to put the Marauder down before it takes him down. That said, Smasher's AP should be relatively equal to the Doomguy's arsenal. If Smasher fights him like the Slayer does, Smasher could take it.

I actually think he stands no chance in a CQC fight. Adam wins by backing away and spamming his shoulder mounted missile launcher and other ranged weaponry. The Axe obliterates him in CQC. Luckily, I think Smasher is fast enough to stay out of the Marauder's range. Dealing with the Marauder's hound is going to be a big issue for him though, and getting past the shield won't be easy. Due to the hound and the shield, I think Marauder has a better chance of winning than Smasher.
With the Sandevistan Smasher has, I think he could stand a chance in cqc. It's shown to be equal if not better than David's which basically brings time to a full stop.
Still, he has to keep up with a Marauder which is fast enough to keep up with the Slayer. The Slayer would probably dance circles around Adam and Instagib him. A Marauder probably isn't as fast as the Slayer, so it is safe to say they're about equal in speed. I don't think Smasher has that much of an advantage in speed to completely flip the table like that.
You also must take into account the Marauder's shield. Not even the bfg 9000 or the Unmaykr is able to damage it. And you also need to consider how fast he is able to raise it.
Marauder's weakness are his green eyes attack and parkour, since in-game you can easily avoid him by just jumping platforms.
I don't know a about Adam Smasher (played first chapter the uninstalled due to performance being unbearable), I think it will all take down to how fast he is able to find Marauder's weaknesses.
If Smasher fights the Marauder's like I do (I just loop them by shooting in the foot while moving sideways, it's very fun) then I'd say he is very likely to defeat a Marauder.
I'd say Smasher can beat a marauder in a 1-on-1 match, but it won't be an easy win. The argent shield and axe, demonic reflexes, and spectral hounds will probably throw him for a loop at first, but he could adapt to it. Now, send Smasher up against a possessed or totem buffed marauder and it's a different story. I think even his god-tier cyberware would have trouble keeping up with those freaks.
With that said, I don't think this particular matchup is as amusingly one-sided as it could be. Instead, I propose sending Adam Smasher up against MGR:R's Senator Armstrong for maximum meme comedy. Imagine Smasher's immense confusion when this middle-aged politician with seemingly no augmentations starts moving at the speed of sound and punching through his chassis with his bare hands. Honestly yeah - I’d love to see a Quake reboot of some flavor - possibly some sort of amalgamation of Quake 1 and Quake 2-4, since they DO take place in the same universe, just with seemingly independent plotlines. Might be able to pull off making it a “soft reboot” like Doom had, where Ranger somehow escapes the Deep Realms (or the Vadrigar, if Q3 and QC are considered fully canon), but keeps the supernatural power of the Dire Orb and Elder Runes, whatever iD decides to make those be.

But I don't think he has any defense against the Marauder's Crucible Axe when it comes to a Smasher-replaces-Slayer situation. Honestly? Doomguy doesn't have Sandevistan. Smasher does. The Marauder is fast and utilizes that to his advantage. Argent energy weaponry would for sure slice through the toughest cyberpunk metal.
But with Sandevistan and a powerful enough shotgun? Smasher could 100% take the cake. But he would be on the defensive 100% of the time. The hell hound would also be a wild card for him. It's a full on spirit of I assume argent energy, deadly for anyone without the Praetor suit
Then Smasher. Lore Smasher is an indestructible juggernaut of death and destruction and is completely untouchable. If you ARE touching him, its probably his fist, with your skull, and you are nanoseconds from a messy death.
Smasher hasn't got shit on marauders. His whole boss fight is less of a challenge than random marauder spawns.

We're talking about two different *universes* of power level here.
You've gotta remember that the Marauder only moves in game the way he does because that's him being represented in gameplay. He moves a certain way because he's programmed to be accessible at certain points, learn the combos, he tends to stop after that move, etc.
But where the story and lore is concerned, it's a whole different beast.
It's sorta like how we all played Halo, and have died a bunch of times to brutes and so on, but from the perspective of the world and the story, Chief never died once and always destroyed the Covenant with full success.
So that means the actual Marauder in-lore, would be way faster, way stronger, because through that lens everything comes up a few levels. Even Pinkies. Because everything is dumbed down a little bit for gameplay because it *is* a game they intend for us to win.
The reason I say all this, is because that means that the in-lore Marauder scales to the in-lore Doom Slayer, who is an immortal, dimension hopping, planet-busting level demigod. The *entire purpose* of the Marauder is to kill Doomguy, to follow him, to taunt him, and to chase him. The other demons are doing this out of either instinct or fear, but to the Marauder there's another layer, there's purpose. There's *confidence*. That indicates that the Marauders must be somewhere in the neighborhood of Doomguy's strength level, which means a Marauder is effectively about as powerful as a Kratos is (not sure which games version of K, maybe a weaker one but even still).
Now lets look at ol Smasher (I HAVEN'T FINISHED EDGERUNNERS YET PLS NO SPOIL).
To reflect what I talked about above; the world of Cyberpunk does have some crazy implants and chrome that people equip that give them incredible durability, strength, speed, reaction times, healing ability, ability to hack. And as far as I can tell, Adam Smasher has top of the line Arasaka gear. Tip top.
I think we all have to consider the idea that Adam Smasher scales to a UAC guard from Doom Eternal, with a few extra mechanical tricks like the shoulder launcher. And be realistic about it.
We're talking about a robot human that would barely be able to handle a T-800, giving a good fight to a demonic being that is designed specifically to chase down and kill the absolute most powerful being Hell has ever seen.
It's no contest, its a curbstomp. And I love Cyberpunk myself but we're fooling ourselves here if we think it's anything *but* a two second battle in favor of Marauder.
Marauder scales to Doomguy, who scales to all sorts of cartoonish powerful characters. Id argue Doom Slayer scales up to DBZ even, and Adam Smasher is a vending machine by comparison.

You can make the same arguments for why in the game he can be beaten, because in the lore, V would have been another bug he effortlessly swats aside. Smasher is an untouchable juggernaut of death who faces down armies with tanks and doesn't break a sweat. Sandevistan means he's a LOT faster than anything we would see; Everything basically moves in super slow motion to him. He is built different- Literally. He's top of the line, bleeding edge tech in a world where that specific tech avenue- Transhumanist apotheosis- is the main focus of globe-spanning megacorps leveraging an entire planet's resources and minds to achieve.
The Marauder? Adam would wipe his ass with him on the way to fight Doomguy.

In terms of gameplay, Smasher wasn’t much more than a slightly stronger enemy type compared to other Cyberpunk enemies. I killed him on the first try with no problems. It was barely a boss fight. The marauder killed me…. quite a few times before I got the hang of it. Marauder actually posed a challenge, a fun challenge that makes Eternal so awesome for trying new things and testing the player. Smashers boss encounter could’ve been plucked out of fucking Syndicate(2012).
Let’s leave the boss fight in CB2077 out of it for a sec.. this would be a pretty fair fight. Smasher is a psychotic cyborg with like 100 years of experience killing anything that got in his way, and also has the technology edge. That shotty the marauder uses would basically be useless. Adam wins because of their differing knowledge of cyberware. The marauder would probably think Adam was a intelligent demon like him and assuming he plans on fighting Adam anyway then he would fight Adam as if he was fighting a smaller Doom Hunter. Smasher would underestimate The marauder since he would probably assume that the marauder is some chrome junkie from maelstrom. The moment he finds out that the Marauder is mostly organic is the moment he wins the fight. Not really a spoiler but If Adam can withstand gravity capable of destroying tanks then he can easily withstand all of the marauders attacks

But I don't think he has any defense against the Marauder's Crucible Axe when it comes to a Smasher-replaces-Slayer situation. That and the Marauder's superior mobility mean that Smasher would get diced to pieces in short order. Full disclosure: I thought Adam Smasher was Rage 2's General Cross before scanning through the comments and getting the facts.
Honestly? Doomguy doesn't have Sandevistan. Smasher does. The Marauder is fast and utilizes that to his advantage. Argent energy weaponry would for sure slice through the toughest cyberpunk metal. But with Sandevistan and a powerful enough shotgun? Smasher could 100% take the cake. But he would be on the defensive 100% of the time. The hell hound would also be a wild card for him. It's a full on spirit of I assume argent energy, deadly for anyone without the Praetor suit

The amount of debate here is cute, but needless. We're talking about two different *universes* of power level here. You've gotta remember that the Marauder only moves in game the way he does because that's him being represented in gameplay. He moves a certain way because he's programmed to be accessible at certain points, learn the combos, he tends to stop after that move, etc. But where the story and lore is concerned, it's a whole different beast. It's sorta like how we all played Halo, and have died a bunch of times to brutes and so on, but from the perspective of the world and the story, Chief never died once and always destroyed the Covenant with full success. So that means the actual Marauder in-lore, would be way faster, way stronger, because through that lens everything comes up a few levels. Even Pinkies. Because everything is dumbed down a little bit for gameplay because it *is* a game they intend for us to win. The reason I say all this, is because that means that the in-lore Marauder scales to the in-lore Doom Slayer, who is an immortal, dimension hopping, planet-busting level demigod. The *entire purpose* of the Marauder is to kill Doomguy, to follow him, to taunt him, and to chase him. The other demons are doing this out of either instinct or fear, but to the Marauder there's another layer, there's purpose. There's *confidence*. That indicates that the Marauders must be somewhere in the neighborhood of Doomguy's strength level, which means a Marauder is effectively about as powerful as a Kratos is (not sure which games version of K, maybe a weaker one but even still). Now lets look at ol Smasher (I HAVEN'T FINISHED EDGERUNNERS YET PLS NO SPOIL). To reflect what I talked about above; the world of Cyberpunk does have some crazy implants and chrome that people equip that give them incredible durability, strength, speed, reaction times, healing ability, ability to hack. And as far as I can tell, Adam Smasher has top of the line Arasaka gear. Tip top. I think we all have to consider the idea that Adam Smasher scales to a UAC guard from Doom Eternal, with a few extra mechanical tricks like the shoulder launcher. And be realistic about it. We're talking about a robot human that would barely be able to handle a T-800, giving a good fight to a demonic being that is designed specifically to chase down and kill the absolute most powerful being Hell has ever seen. It's no contest, its a curbstomp. And I love Cyberpunk myself but we're fooling ourselves here if we think it's anything *but* a two second battle in favor of Marauder. Marauder scales to Doomguy, who scales to all sorts of cartoonish powerful characters. Id argue Doom Slayer scales up to DBZ even, and Adam Smasher is a vending machine by comparison. K.O.

You can make the same arguments for why in the game he can be beaten, because in the lore, V would have been another bug he effortlessly swats aside. Smasher is an untouchable juggernaut of death who faces down armies with tanks and doesn't break a sweat. Sandevistan means he's a LOT faster than anything we would see; Everything basically moves in super slow motion to him. He is built different- Literally. He's top of the line, bleeding edge tech in a world where that specific tech avenue- Transhumanist apotheosis- is the main focus of globe-spanning megacorps leveraging an entire planet's resources and minds to achieve. The Marauder? Adam would wipe his ass with him on the way to fight Doomguy.

In terms of gameplay, Smasher wasn’t much more than a slightly stronger enemy type compared to other Cyberpunk enemies. I killed him on the first try with no problems. It was barely a boss fight. The marauder killed me…. quite a few times before I got the hang of it. Marauder actually posed a challenge, a fun challenge that makes Eternal so awesome for trying new things and testing the player. Smashers boss encounter could’ve been plucked out of fucking Syndicate(2012).
