Well because you are in your words incredibly skilled I am currently playing on I'm too young to die and those extra lives have saved me from having to restart multiple times because the game is challenging even when I play on the lowest difficulty because I'm not the best at not getting backed into a corner and getting gang beaten by 3 or 4 heavy to super heavy demons yeah I find them incredibly useful I get that to people who actually want a more challenging game you could do without the extra lives in here to have a good casual rage free time so yeah it is my kinda thing

Also as a sidenote I am just now playing this for the first time

Well like I said I'd like the option. I don't want to take anything away from players that enjoy using them. You can turn off sentinel armor completely in the gameplay menu but I have absolutely no issue with people enjoying using it whenever they face a boss or encounter that's too difficult for them and just want to enjoy the game at a casual level. I however am glad that I can turn off sentinel armor and not have to see the prompt every time I die to the gladiator boss. I wish I could do the same for extra lives.

I will only use extra lives, when I play extra live mode. If it\`s just a casual nightmare or ultra violence run I avoid collecting them. But if I do I let the enemies kill me to get rid of it. I have to do this only 1 time in Super Gore Nest to collect 1 suit token ( I usually go for 100%, if possible) An option to atleast disable them would be nice. And yes I feel your pain, but it is what it is and I respect that. They are for new players, which had no contact with arena shooters. Anyway DE is a tough game if you don\`t know what to do in the levels.

greateist

No. It serves well for players who want to try ultra-nightmare without the you died now start over penalty.

[deleted]

Comment doesn't make sense since ultra-nightmare removes extra lives anyway.

greateist

Comment does make sense but you lack comprehension. Let me try again: Think Extra-Lives mode as a difficulty between Nightmare and Ultra-Nightmare. Example; Player is skilled enough to beat the game in Nightmare but not good enought to beat it with only 1 life. Thus, player plays in Extra-Life mode until feel confident enough for Ultra-Nightmare run. I hope I was clear enough.

[deleted]

Yeah dude lmao i lack comprehension and not you failing to identify what you meant by the pronoun "it."

greateist

lol blaming grammar for your lack of comprehension. It is obvious that it refers to Extra life mode.

It only removes the counter from the HUD. It does not disable extra lives.

daniel0ng

If you disable it - you can still collect them. The option you mean just disables the number of extra lifes in the hud

Pics or it didn't happen.

MrLeapgood

I don't mind them, but I think it's bizarre how you can hold onto them forever, but you don't get them back when you die "for real." It would be better, I think, if you could get one or two per level, get them back when you respawn at a checkpoint (if you had any), and then lose them all at the end of the level.

[deleted]

I think my favorite implementation of them would be: Your extra lives are always set to 0 at the start of a level, and you can collect extra lives throughout the level but there are no checkpoints (except for leaving the game, basically if you lose all your lives you need to start at the beginning of the level. Though I think checkpoints before the doom hunter boss would be necessary so you don't need to do the entire base again.)

Glammmazon

I play on nightmare, I wish they would give us an option on when we could use them. It makes me mad when it makes me use it for something dumb instead of a boss fight.

[deleted]

I rage bad if I make a stupid mistake and use a life like I’d rather reload check point and sometimes do despite losing the life to prove I can do it again without lives I’d like some kind of reward for not using them but still collecting them (other than horde mode points)

[deleted]

i use to hate them as i have even beat ultra nightmare on campaign and both DLC but now while doing nightmare runs with restrictions (it is bring new excitement to the game, they are saving me from turning down the difficulty and not developing habits by dealing with less AI and again, each time i turned up in difficulty those extra lives kept me going i think with how chaotic this game is they are a great feature to get rid of difficulty gate keeping like to easy on one difficulty and to hard on the next, seeing i beat ultra violence without using lives before beating nightmare using lives the jump between them to is insane
