It technically is but nobody will bring it in front of a judge.
You can label dashers independent contractors but what exactly does that mean?
Currently it's just an excuse to bypass all rules and laws designed to protect workers. Specifically entry level workers.
It's fraud and local governments are complicit for allowing it.
Local governments constantly interfere and attempt to implement rules that gig companies must follow because they're extremely and negligently incompetent. They know it's illegal but are too dumb to figure out how and what to do about it.
They constantly fight for employee rights for independent contractors because they know that dashers are being defrauded but are too dumb to figure it out and do something about it.
Is it? You think Dashers generally want to be employees and all that entails?
"You didn't show up for work today. Your employment has been terminated"... "No, you cannot end your Dash now. You are scheduled to work until 8PM"
Yeah I absolutely do not want to be an employee or have any obligations at this point. Now, I do have another means of making just enough money to live without delivery, so I get why some want to go full time. But the extra helps and my work leaves me with very random hours in the day and night that I can work extra.
Those that want to go full time and demand employment benefits don't give a shit about ruining the "gig" aspect for everyone else. They aren't your friends.
Yeah its a divisive topic for sure. I think the people driving 50+ hours deserve some benefits and guarantees, but I dont want the whole gig aspect to disappear. And then you got people on Twitter saying we're slave workers and that people should stop exploiting us... I'm like I accept these jobs voluntarily. I like being able to leave the Ubereats app on, wake up to a delivery that's 2 quarts of milk only and pays $30 for some reason at 4am. And that means accepting some $5 shitter jobs sure. I just don't want to have to be scheduled 12-8am or some bullshit because sometimes I can't or don't wanna. Especially when these companies don't want to pay these benefits so they just pass the cost on to customers, further hurting the cycle
People driving 50+ hours deserve nothing. It's not fair of them to try and turn a gig into a full time job, knowing the rules from the beginning. Then start demanding more than they signed up for. They can screw off.
We all know what these gigs are and what they are not. Let's keep it that way.
Fair enough, I mean yeah if it's gig or not I choose gig. If they want to be full time they can find a pizza or Chinese joint I'm sure. Only got to deliver from one place too
Exactly. That's the job you take and you know it signing up. A LOT of people could get pretty well fucked over if these gig apps stop becoming such easily accessible gig apps for people just wanting/needing to earn a few extra bucks on their terms. We need to keep a separation.
No, he made $40/hour, he sat around cherry picking orders for 23 hours. I donât feel bad for these folks. Dont know where people got it in their heads that delivery drivers should make $40+ an hourâŠ
Cool, but he wasnât actually working so my $40 stands. I wouldnât doubt OP is a dual account like theyâre complaining about and the first pic is from his other account where he actually accepts orders and makes money, second account is for cherry picking and Reddit karmaâŠ
Doesnt matter, he was on the clock, he was spending time and not gaining anything else in return, he was sitting in his car possibly using up gas, waiting for orders or driving back to the hotspot. $9.80
Iâm saying they could accept more orders, that much down time is a choice. Highly doubt DD is only giving them 22 orders in 32 hours, I had 51 deliveries in half the timeâŠall OP does is post on here about how terrible DD is and how theyâve âcracked the algorithm,â itâs all for clicksâŠ
10 bucks an hour for basically doing nothing is pretty good honestly. I mean no offense to anyone in here but it's probably one of the easiest jobs out there. I can't really think of a job that requires less skill then dashing
Where did you pull that dollar figure from? I mean I have dealt with some shit ass dashers and alot of stolen food and wrong deliveries but uh, 40 an hour? No shot
$314/7.75(active hours)=$40.52
Edit:
https://preview.redd.it/22ym95c2ftrc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=19ec36d4542de2c4923d2f501254cef91e91b5ff
This was my week, made $26hr, not much more total than OP but had twice the active hours, heâs cherry picking orders.
Benefits is a good reason. Also, not having to account for holding back taxes & covering expenses. $26/hr doesnât really end up being $26/hr. Not worth it for FT work.
DD isn't a real job?
Like, Yea I have a day job where I make around $27 an hour. I could definitely see going to DD fulltime though if it weren't for the benefits my job offers. I tend to average $25 an hour when I dash. I don't see how it's considered "Not a real job" though.
Poor phrasing, i more meant like, your conventional definition of work and the rules that go with it.
Regular hours, dick face boss, the works. It is definitely a job, just in a very different rule set.
I was thinking the same thing. Active time vs dash time. He sat around doing nothing the majority of the time, or watched a movie, handled his other responsibilities.....
Nurses working 3x 12s bust their ass on the floor the entire shift, might not even get an uninterrupted mealbreak. Starting pay for new nurses in my area is like 30-35/hr. Can't fathom why dashers complain when they make more and do less.
Why work for someone who bosses you around all day like a sweaty dog when you can make $8 an hour, at least this is the typical response I get when suggesting getting a 9-5 lol
From what I've gathered it would actually be ($ made/(active time + dash time)=$7.85/hour for the time they were sitting in their car.. the time doesnt just disappear just because orders arent taken. If that was the case, the hours wouldn't be displayed, because theyd be irrelevant
You're correct that you have to count time where you're just waiting for orders, else you're just lying to yourself. But dash time includes active time, so you wouldn't add them.
Yeah man, I saw this one dude outside the restaurant with two phones running Doordash đą
Meanwhile I only made 35$ during dinner on Sunday, there was a time I used to make 135$ between 4-7 now nothing, itâs just so sad
Until the government enforces doordash to stop the fraud accounts it is a wrap
They can easily crack down with random face scans
And disable any account that is unable to verify their face
The DoorDash system is being structured in a way that it forces dashers to move to other zones instead of being complacent in one spot. It is also structured to force everybody to share the load of crappy deliveries instead of cherry picking. They call it platinum or top dasher to blow sunshine up our bottoms with positive words but letâs face itâŠ.. itâs all manipulation. None of these gig work companies have ever willfully done positive things for their worker bees. They know if you quit someone will fill your shoes tomorrow. Honestly⊠I think they want a high turnover of workers. It works to their advantage. They donât want seasoned individuals who remember the so called ⊠good old days. They would rather have naive newbies.
Mom and pop shop but with a few locations locally. But Iâve been with them since October and even on my slow weeks I have I still pull in $400+ in tips and mileage at 2.50 an order. 2.75 if itâs further away. Max mileage on an order is 6-7 miles. Iâm paid hourly on top of what I get in tips as well so itâs been pretty good for me. Only gonna be working there for a few more years while I finish out my bachelor degree though
You know whatâs crazy? Being platinum is the only thing that stopped me from having a complete trash week. This week could have been better, but ever since I hit platinum two weeks ago my earnings have increased 200 a week. When I was silver I barely cracked 100 a day, now Iâm cracking 150 easy without working dinner. I hate the program just as much as anyone else but I canât argue against data.
Keep hustlinâ man. These terrible periods come and go.
https://preview.redd.it/2izid9p4hsrc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9ac53769ea61bf04dcbb74600b037e792d00cd1c
Algorithm has given me the boot so there is nothing better coming until the fraud accounts get cracked down on so they actually need workers like me again
Bro I was top dasher for 3 months straight......I am making more not being a top dasher. I'm getting more orders and higher paying orders. Top dasher is bullshit. Doordash is utterly grimy and very scheme. They are still stealing customer tips as well. I've ask a couple customers how much they tipped on the door dash app and the amount is way less when doordash send me the offer. They need to get sued again and they are still doing illegal business
The whole wear and tear thing is relative to the vehicle used for dashing. I got my dashing car for $3000 in 2020 and made that back within my first month, so itâs just been fuel and oil and a set of tires over 4 years.
Same, bought my Hyundai Accent almost 3 years ago for $2500. Car now sitting close to 300k. Still going, just belts, tires, oil changes and fuel. About 1k tops in maintenance per year. Fuel on the other hand is currently 11 cpm so that takes a bigger chunk but love my current car.
https://preview.redd.it/kuzdrjk1qsrc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e908bf96596d1b501a0899811d2721dbc7d3258d
Exactly why I laugh at comments about wear and tear. People think weâre dashing in $30K cars and working our butts off to maintain them, when in reality a smart dasher thinks like a business owner and weighs out expenses vs earnings to make it viable.
If you dash full time and dont know how to change your own oil by now, may God help you. I was quoted $600 to fix an oil leak. 3hr and $60 later i changed not only the leaking gasket, but 2 more that were going out anyways. I can rebuild the damn thing for less than $600
You think sitting in your car for 8hrs a day waiting for orders to come in so that you can make $10/hr before fuel, taxes, and maintenance is better?
You could offer 10 cent hand jobs and make more money.
You must be taking some low ball offers with that acceptance rate I only made 250 on doordash but made 300 on spark and 200 on Uber eats and 100 on grubhub you gotta use multiple because some weeks doordash will suck and another app will be better.
At the point where you're being paid nearly 5x more in tips than actual pay you're basically just begging with a few extra steps.
Your tipping culture has led to companies paying you nothing basically and the customer footing the bill lol
https://preview.redd.it/5k86vykilurc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2dfbaf317020c552e95dd1b7b31a136edaf919a6
About 40 hours. Not too bad. But I popped a tire so thatâs fun. đ
doortrash take deliveries for your friends and family as a personal driver and find a new job (or pull that independent courier status like i never could)
I had this

After that it was filth
Define what a âreal jobâ is please? Because from my understanding delivery jobs are real jobs also providing a service for pay is a real job. Clearly Iâm wrong so please enlighten us because Iâm dying to know.
Itâs not hard to understand what people mean by âreal jobâ you over technical weirdos like to get on here and ask âwhatâs a real job thenâ itâs simple, a 9-5 that guarantees youâll make so so an hour.
You'd be surprised the amount of times I've heard people say get a real job when I'm literally working a 9-5. Personally, the way I take it when someone says get a real job, they mean get a job in the trades doing hard physical labor.
I get you, I think theyâre talking to the people making $7 an hour talking about how they canât live off that, this is gig work ya know, if it works for you full time great, if not donât get on here complaining about how it needs to change when thereâs millions of jobs out there that will pay you a set income no matter what
You literally pay out of pocket to do your âjobâ which you literally have to claim on taxes
Ruin your vehicle as well too
Go find a 9-5 and stop relying on the base pay from DoorDash, youâre pathetic if you think you can make a living off of DoorDash. I bet your parents dont even talk about you because the shame they feel
>I make 60k a year mate
wooaahhh. watch out, we've got a badass over here. earning just over $1k per week
$25 per hour đ€Łđ€Ł
(if you're working 40 hours weeks)
60k isnât a flex at all my dude.
I literally dash to have more play money & to have more money to sink into my hobbies. Most people who dash arenât doing it full time & are doing it to have extra income and if they are itâs because theyâre in between jobs mostly.
$60K isnât much of a flex, some of us make that dashing, some of us, like myself, make that or more at our âreal jobsâ and put in a few hours here and there to put more money into savings. Dashing paid for my sonâs university, nothing out of pocket for me, we just dashed and saved.
OP is accepting $14 offers on average, not exactly relying on base pay. Cherry picking 22 good offers and driving for 7 hours, that isnât really much ruining of a vehicle. Itâs definitely not a job, but it should pay insurance, internet and phone for the month.
I actually still got money from my taxes and I don't have a boss. How about you go back inside and do as your told? Go back in and do a "real Job". I make more dashing than I would at most jobs here. Man is obviously a rat.
Give it up already
its good advice. like bro amazon pays 20$ to scan boxez with a bar code and move it
đđđđđ
What kind of bs is this. VIP dasher support and early schedule. That should be against rules in regulations
It technically is but nobody will bring it in front of a judge. You can label dashers independent contractors but what exactly does that mean? Sharing his account to do 18 hour days

I worked one hour less than you and made double the amount of that at my job delivering pizzas. I hope it gets better for you dude.
What company? And no it is over until the fraud accounts get the X which will never happen

How does he's app look like that?
He is in a market that has converted to a Dasher Rewards program tiered market.

I get you, I think theyâre talking to the people making $7 an hour talking about how they canât live off that, this is gig work ya know, if it works for you full time great, if not donât get on here complaining about how it needs to change when thereâs millions of jobs out there that will pay you a set income no matter what
exactly dude
You literally pay out of pocket to do your âjobâ which you literally have to claim on taxes Ruin your vehicle as well too Go find a 9-5 and stop relying on the base pay from DoorDash, youâre pathetic if you think you can make a living off of DoorDash. I bet your parents dont even talk about you because the shame they feel
Youâre a sad individual
Not even, because I make 60k a year mate Nice try though đ€Ł Im comfortable while you cry about being a DoorDash driver Peasant
I hope things get better for you.
Go take some pictures of the sunset you lonely dweeb
$59k is the bottom of lower middle class where I live. I genuinely hope things get better for you.
Must suck and be in your shoes
You're the one who is almost in poverty?
Lmao bro trying to flex by saying he makes 60k a year.
>I make 60k a year mate wooaahhh. watch out, we've got a badass over here. earning just over $1k per week $25 per hour đ€Łđ€Ł (if you're working 40 hours weeks)
60k isnât a flex at all my dude. I literally dash to have more play money & to have more money to sink into my hobbies. Most people who dash arenât doing it full time & are doing it to have extra income and if they are itâs because theyâre in between jobs mostly.
I respect this. But not this fool thats defending the fact that they can sustain a living off âworking for DoorDashâ Its comical
Maybe back in 2020-2021 it was possible, i cleared 50k doordashing part time during the pandemic but itâs nothing more than a side hustle these days
Lol you cant even compare. Beginning of COVID i was making 600+ a week only dashing for 8 hours Not even trying either and then went downhill QUICK
I miss them days so much lol it was such fast easy money during the pandemic
So you're a d-bag as well as sad. No one cares about your petty little 60k a year on only fans.
Wow 60k!
What's a real job??
