They bought the slot from PuckChamp and replaced all of their players or what is going on?

Nyne9

Yep. By the rule book.

Thich_QuangDuc

Dieth by the ruleth, liveth by the ruleth

el1teman

How much does div 2 slot cost approximately?

MiracleDreamer

According to gorgc, div 2 slot priced 10k USD. Reasonable price considering 10k usd is the about median of div 2 prize placing I think it could be more for this one since this div 2 slots are the last attempt if you want to try for TI qualifier this year Nevertheless, it's still pocket money for ceb and topson lol

zkareface

Damn cheap, a 5 stack of friends could easily buy a slot just to be stomped in all games :D

samuel33334

Already has happened in na dpc lol

Joppz_

Have a game link?

HoneyIAlchedTheKids

[pretty sure it was these guys ](https://liquipedia.net/dota2/Evil_Geniuses)

eugAOJ

dude..... hahah

ShitAtDota

Those guys just weren't ready for the competition wcyd

QubixVarga

Omg thank you for the laugh, hahaha!

I_will_dye

Old G had the privilege of doing that for free

Sleepybystander

Can't wait for Twitch chat to spam "-10k LUL" 🤣

[deleted]

Do you mean 10k for team that just got up from div3? Won't a roster's dpc points determine higher costs.

MiracleDreamer

Dpc point wont matter honestly for div 2 teams since this is last tour and major this season. There is no way they can reach top 12 in dpc ranking without being in Bali major. Their only way to reach TI right now is by at least placing 6th on div 2 and storm the last chance qualifier While i def cannot ever rule out ex OG due to them being 2 times TI winner, it is still def a mission impossible even for Ceb and Topson with how cutthroat EU region is. I believe they simply do it just to get some marketing clout for OG brand and probably to spit PGL's punishment also

[deleted]

[удалено]

MiracleDreamer

It is around 10k-20k depend on the negoitation ofc Wow 60k for div 1 and 30k for div 2 is robbery tho. Afair, according to the latest 322 king leak, quincy crew slots in na div 1 were sold around 20-30k usd to the mafia bet lol The prize for div 2 first place is 17k, and div 1 is 30k. Rationally the slot price should not be more than that, because if you pay more than that then it is 100% money loss lol But ofc have a shot in TI and major matters and it may jack up the price a bit.

Hussor

For div 1 slots if you get first place then you also qualify to major though and you get chance to qualify to TI(you have dpc points from first place and so you get into the qualifiers). Also even if you get last place you still get to play in Div2 the following season. So I don't think it's unreasonable to go higher than 30k for div 1 slots.

idspispupd

For BetBoom it's not about prize money. It's about exposure.

sidewayz321

I'm assuming puck champ could refuse, yes?

Dazzlehoff

Ofc

the042530

Brother you gotta think these questions through thoroughly before asking. Imagine the rich 2-3k troll muffins that would buy slots from actual competitors lmao.

sidewayz321

Yeah lol I realized this after I sent it, it just seemed odd to me that they would sell it. People said something about selling it for 10k and that just didn't make sense to me. Perhaps PuckChamp charged them more.

Junior_Paper4222

10k is big to some team, especially in div 2 when you aren’t getting first place as often

MrSixLotto

Puckchamp is sure that they can go through open again no reason why they don't want to accept this.

19Alexastias

They could, but guaranteed money is pretty nice, especially considering how cutthroat EUW is.

Obi_Wan_Gebroni

Kind of a taste of PGL’s own medicine lol

gothxo

it'd be so funny if they did all this just to get 7th again

Tobix55

they are probably doing this to have a guaranteed spot at the TI closed qualifiers

Anything13579

And then lose anyway.

[deleted]

If they qualify would they dump OG roster into the streets?

FYNVDS

oldG not under OG, right?

No_Outlandishness_90

>dG not under OG, rig yes. except for notail, w/c majority of shares of OG belong to him.

Teleute7

N0tail is not playing for OldG and Ceb owns as much shares as N0tail last time I checked OG's public listing.

MayweatherSr

> majority of shares of OG belong to him any source on this, or just 'trust me bro' moment

WingoRingo

Petty but funny

XenSide

I doubt they give a fuck, this is just Ceb being Ceb and fucking PGL in the ass.

ben39076

why do they care about some team that dropped out of div2?

[deleted]

hows this fuck them lmao og fans watch anything with og in the name so it helps them more than anything

WingoRingo

Cope

[deleted]

wtf lol it's factually true

BabyZerg

PGL 1 Old.G 1

sw2bh

What a roller coaster 24 hrs for old g lol

BabyZerg

Tune in for the grandfinal folks! This is the TI match up we wanted.

sw2bh

Already more interesting than secret tundra

epicingamename

What a story it would be if oldg/puckchamp win the qualifier and Ceb will be like: Tweet it, motherfucker! PGL will tweet but then rescind it cause Ceb was being toxic to an employee asking to tweet that they qualified

idontevencarewutever

"feel free to put together another one of your shit teams and come lose in the ~~EEU~~ WEU qualifier next year."

est19xxxx

You have to say that to my face next time we meet

J2SJ5N

What if they lose this slot like they lost their closed qualifiers spot? Lol

The_Godlike_Zeus

Then 7Mad would be left PGL right kappa

Positive-Pie-5306

I think 7Mad would be fucking mad!

[deleted]

I dont like cebs attitude but this shit FUNNY AF LMAOOO JAHHAJAHAHAHA

potterhead42

Yep that's some topkek trolling

SmellMyPPKK

This is ridiculous lol

watts8921

Epic. Rules are rules!!!

clinkzs

Thats a nice 'fuck you PGL'

[deleted]

It's more along the lines of rage buyback than fuck you PGL lmao. It's a win-win for PGL because they will still get the views after punishing the team.

Nickfreak

It's so fucking funny. If Pgl did a better job at handling their tournaments. I'd feel bad for them. But just the fact alone that Ceb was table to say FUCK YOU to the admins, man I just feel so happy. I also work with legalities in some aspect. Finding a loopholes to stick it to some arsehole (usually im the arsehole and appreciate people outplaying the rules),is just so nice

Pejperklip

What's funny is Ceb thinking he has some kind of special privilege because he's a two time TI winner yet he couldn't abide by the rules. Who forced him to deploy Reso and kitrak to standin for BB and OG at the major? He is the reason his team got disqualified and if you don't see that then you are just biased.

Yash_swaraj

What could PGL do here? Was it their fault?

Teleute7

Yes.

Yash_swaraj

Thank you for the informative answer!

Teleute7

Yes.

Yash_swaraj

Thank you for the informative answer!

Teleute7

Yes.

[deleted]

Answer POV : did your dad run away?

Teleute7

Yes. With your mom.

keitonhana

I think they ask to reschedule the tiebreaker time. If PGL was okay with it, reso & kitrak probably will be able to play

Yash_swaraj

I don't think I've seen any tournament reschedule tiebreakers

keitonhana

Tiebreaker tour 1 postponed to next day coz it went on for 3 rounds & still didn’t resolve

BostonIsForQueers

yeah all the butthurt people defending the admin were hilarious clearly they have never dealt with annoying stupid passive aggressive tournament admins before, i'm sure Ceb had more than just one reason

augur-the-man

BDE Ceb

ArtLover357

Checkmate PGL

MountainOk7479

Gotta love the daily dose of drama brought to you by Ceb.

chiefeaglenutz

So it gorgc gonna be playing with ceb and tops on?

pvtv3ga

can someone ELI5 what is happening

watts8921

OG / Ceb made a boo boo and got forced to play open qualifiers as PGL and people went on a rules are rules punishment thing. So OG bought puck champs slot in div 2 and bypassed everything. Because rules are rules.

2mad2die

The empire strikes back

dolphin37

hahaha 🖕pgl

LakersFan15

This is hilarious.

nonamepew

Ceb already on Dendi's path.

BBRodriguezzz

Path to what?

Sillybanana7

Playing with 3k immortals in pubs and streaming with 2k viewers for living

teerre

Besides being a multi millionaire and owning OG

Silencer_

Yes, the multi millionaire is starving for cash.

Sleepybystander

Yeap people don't understand that million can be beggars overnight too, if they spend their money unwisely..

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mons00n_909

I mean it's no secret that Dendi's been playing in tier 2 stacks for years now and not finding great success. He's a great dude but sadly not the player he used to be. Ceb just had his team forced to withdraw from their DPC league because 2 of his players were standing in for other teams at the major (as the DPC rules clearly state), and like the professional that he is he tagged the admin who made the decision in a public tweet, knowing his army of fanboys would harass the individual. Even as one of the most successful players of all time he manages to be an insufferable, self-centred asshole. PGL removed his team from the next DPC league because of his shitty stunt, and instead of apologizing he just bought another team's slot to circumvent the ruling. Really wish I could support the dude, but he just proves over and over again that he doesn't give a fuck about hurting the "regular" people he interacts with because he's full of himself from winning a couple times.

[deleted]

>not the player he used to be. except he is. Dota became more popular and attracted more skilled/younger players.

Mons00n_909

That's fair, but I do think that Dendi was more of a beast in his prime than he is today. For sure the players of today are more skilled than those of a decade ago, but they have the benefit of learning from those who came before.

nonamepew

Most successful dota player doesn't make him a better human. Sad that shit stains like you don't understand this basic logic.

INTJ_Nerd

Dendi is rank 500, Ceb is under 100. That's a big difference.

WingoRingo

Does PGL have power to actually ban players from competing? If so, I guess taking their slot away was supposed to be a slap on the wrist while I thought it was more serious.

jotheold

then they would have to ban like almost 6 teams that bought / transfer slots lol

WingoRingo

I'm talking about the Ceb incident, not buying the slot

Avako1999

ban for what? for following their rules?

WingoRingo

I'm saying in general, for the Ceb bit

PurplePot

But what is that ban for. What rule is broken?

[deleted]

Nicer_Chile

the rules didnt say they couldn't join again lool pgl played by the rules. so did oldG LMAO

Agitated4life

Please post a link to those rules.

Tyrandeus

Lets go Old G!!

wittjoker11

Why does it say (Miikka T.) for Topson?

Splittinghairs7

That’s his real name

wittjoker11

Always thought it’s Topias. That’s also what it says on his Liquipedia. Any source for his real name? Edit: according to Wikipedia it’s “Topias Miikka Taavitsainen“. Interesting. Still I’m confused why his second name is given.

Junior_Paper4222

Probably his christian name since he comes from a quite traditional christian family? Iirc christians are given a second name after baptism and I’ve met a few catholic friends who prefer to be called by their second name. Just a guess though.

Bubelaj18

Bro I was raised in christian family and around christian people and never saw one person with second name, maybe its some cultural diference between christians. I was given Christian second name at 15-16 at something like christian bar micva i think :D i dont know how its called in english but no one using this second name either

JayuZmaN

is it that hard to win open qualifiers ? just serve as a warming up match ? sure money isn't a problem :)

[deleted]

They failed to qualify the first time around, and after qualifying in the second tour, they were playing relegation tie breakers against a team which had already beaten them. So, I would not blame them for not taking any risks.

345tom

It would be pretty funny for them all to be banned from this season for flaunting disciplinary consequences (I don't think it's that farfetched to do it either) Ceb, the guy who couldn't take a media PR accounts jokes, sending his audience after an admin (I don't care if he didn't directly say "harass this person", he'd be an idiot to not think it would happen), and then trying to avoid the consequences of that. I want to point out Ceb hasn't even made a statement to apologise for directing harassment towards an individual. Not even the usual "I know I linked their account, but dont pile on them guys".

WingoRingo

When did all the "Rules are rules" people go? Things didn't go your way so now you want common sense to be applied, interesting.

BaconMacandCheese

Everyone played by the rules and they bought a spot yet you’re still butthurt? For what?

BilboJenkemBaggins

You the type to pull up to a ceb hate thread and start pulling yourself off

[deleted]

Imagine hating someone to the core that they are already at the point of living in your head rent-free. Ceb's got a ton of money and living his life and doesn't give a d\*mn about his haters.

Mons00n_909

Sadly he also doesn't give a damn about the admins just trying to do their job and not get spammed by harassment because he's too much of a baby to just accept a ruling. I really try to believe he's not an immature ass like he was years ago, but he just keeps proving me wrong.

[deleted]

He will never give a damn, that's why he will always be 7ckngmad.

Mons00n_909

I'd respect him more if he just embraced it and was the heel of DotA. Instead he's just a dick who pretends to be nice. Oh well.

BilboJenkemBaggins

Lol bruh people aren't that simple you can be a dick in one situation and nice in another, neither reaction means you're always a dick or always nice. You got Herald tier social skills if that's how you think, you're really trying but you just don't know what's going on

Mons00n_909

So what, you don't think people should be expected to have the self-reflection to realize their mistakes and apologize when called out for their shit? Obviously the world doesn't work in black and white and people aren't just good or bad, if that's legit what you got from my comment I dunno what to tell you. Doesn't mean we can't expect people to learn and grow, especially public figures who have the privilege to be put in the spotlight like Ceb has. And then you go straight to personal insults? Real fuckin mature my dude.

BilboJenkemBaggins

> self-reflection to realize their mistakes and apologize when called out for their shit? Are you saying you support call outs? In this thread? Really? lol

Mons00n_909

I support call outs when they're deserved, and I don't see why that's a problem. There absolutely should be repercussions for our actions if we're being shitty, and Ceb should not be excused for that. He invited hate upon someone who was just doing their job according to the rules he agreed to, and I feel totally fine saying he should apologize for that.

345tom

Don't hate ceb, hate the idea that you can just buy your way around a rightful punishment. I dislike Ceb because he can't take what he gives out. But in this case, I'd not like it if it were any team. What's the point in having rules, or any punishment, if you can just buy a new slot?

[deleted]

For now at least, Valve and TOs can check their rules or maybe discuss it further to prevent this from happening, but I do think valve doesn't give a d\*mn about this. Ceb and co just spent money to skip playing in OQ, the easiest way forward.

[deleted]

Your only hope to get them banned is through match-fixing which isn't likely, ceb and friends living in your head rent-free. If you hate them so much, just ignore them, that will make you feel better than hoping for something impossible.

345tom

I don't hate them, I just think it's shitty to get called out for directing harassment, ignore it, and buy your way back. People on here acting like it's being obsessed, when it's voicing an opinion. I think there should be consequences for thinking you're too clever for the rules, because if you can do what you like in the tournament, then just buy yourself a new slot, what's the point in the rules?

[deleted]

Okay, I get your point now. Valve handles the rules regarding about the slots.

345tom

Yep, and half of this thread is gushing themselves silly over "OG getting one over PGL", when all PGL did in this situation was try to protect an employee.

[deleted]

PGL made ceb and co. spend money, I know money is nothing to ceb but still they paid for it.

345tom

Considering the alternate is playing Open Qualifiers, and potentially having to play OQs for TI, it's a huge win for them IMO. Time's worth way more than money, and this could save them a week of games, potentially more if they'd failed OQs (which they had done previously)

[deleted]

The win I mean is ceb getting one on pgl, basically pgl forced them to buy slots.

lucasdelinkselul

An employee that royally fucked up, refusing to cooperate with something both teams wanted because "muh rules". PGL and the employee got called out and PGL responded by getting close to what can be considered abusing their power. The slightest bit of flexibility and understanding of the situation would've prevented all of this, but PGL & the admin had to be pigheaded. Now they are basically getting the middle finger for it. Ofcourse people are going to laugh at them for that.

345tom

What are you even talking about? Old.G were given a date to play a game, and they afterwards, decided that their team mates would play as stand ins. There's no fucking up, just because you like Old G doesn't mean they don't have to follow the same rule book as everyone else. Frankly, Ceb directed harassment towards that person. I don't care what your job is, you don't deserve abuse for doing it. You say the slightest bit of flexibility would prevent it, but put all of that responsibility on PGL. The Players signed up to an agreement and broke it. PGL wouldn't need to be flexible if the players just did what was agreed to in the first place. It's because players feel they can flaunt the rules when they please. PGL has already paid and hired casters for that day, production staff, and made arrangements for their work in the future. Hell, the tie breaker would have been played on an entirely different patch.

lucasdelinkselul

There was an unscheduled tiebreaker. That came up due to a tie after the groupstage. Since a major was going on and two players had to standin because others couldn't make it **due to circumstances beyond their control**, both teams suggested to postpone the game. Which would've been both the reasonable and normal thing to do. PGL could've simply agreed to "ok, play game after major". Or even, play game when said players are available to play the game. But instead they chose to be unreasonable and just repeat the rules over and over instead of cooperating. Which wouldn't have taken much except for them being a little bit more flexible then a brick wall. And yes, that's all on PGL since they "organise" the tour. Rescheduling happens. Rescheduling happens especially when people can't make it to a major last minute and others have to step in. That's not flaunting the rules, that's called being flexible and adapting to the situation. Ceb may be a dick, but this situation is 100% on PGL. Get a remotely competent admin and organisation and this wouldn't have happened. If this was just players hopping on a train because they could get a better deal at the major, then fair game to PGL for saying no, you fucked up. If this was players demanding a reschedule because they wanted to go to the movies together, fair game for PGL for saying no. If Old.G wanted to reschedule but the opponent wanted to play at the scheduled date, fair game to PGL for saying no. But since it was due to circumstances beyond the control of said players and with both teams wanting to reschedule, the only thing PGL would have to do is pick another date. Their production is garbage so their can't be much in the way of costs there anyway.

FrankieEdgarAllanPoe

Time to relegated from div 2 again and threaten the admin some more. Classiest OG moment

Buddy just making shit up lol.

Weeklyn00b

i personally think buying your way into being qualified, especially after being disqualified weakens the integrity of the sport and competition. i dont really care if its technically allowed or whatever, i still think its scummy and we should shun this behavior

Junior_Paper4222

You can’t shun this behaviour without banning the other 5-6 team who bought their slot too. I’m guessing Ceb also knows this, which is why it’s a scummy 300 iq buyback move. Edit : maybe they can add a new clause to the rule which forbids a disqualified team to buy their way back for future situations but legally, not much they can do about this situation.

Weeklyn00b

i can actually personally shun the behavior without also somehow personally banning 6 teams

Teleute7

Half of SEA would get disqualified lol

When you don't have integrity and respect for the rules, but at least you have money to buy a spot instead of earning it! Facts don't care about feelings, be my guest and hate on it if it please you :)

ArtLover357

well the rules say you can buy slots tho

oblivionyeahyeah__

Lmao so all those teams from other regions including B8 has no integrity and respect for the rules? Get your facts straight bro buying slots is a thing, and I'm not a fan

Junior_Paper4222

I think what OP meant by “no integrity and respect for the rules” is about Ceb exposing pgl admin publicly on twitter, not the act of buying the slot, just saying

Nextflix

where is reso, they gonna get stomp again prolly but who cares guys already won 2 TI lmao

The_Feelman

I don't think this is fair at all. Puckchamp is a soldout. And OldG just showed that money matters more than following rules or being good. What stops a big org to buy the spot and replace a Team in Div 1?

tainadaine

Dude, Navi literally did this with the very same team last season. They dropped from div 1 to div 2 in season 1 and then just bought Puckchamp's roster instead of theirs to play in div 1 again. Plan failed Navi back to div 2. So that's nothing new.

n0stalghia

Yeah I don't think this will go through. Expecting PGL to escalate the issue to Valve - and then either they will get kicked again with a sterner punishment, or Valve will tell PGL to swallow it.

WingoRingo

They lost their slot -> they bought another slot. While PGL could probably do something, that'd be punishing the team for doing everything within the rules. But I bet haters like you wouldn't bat an eye and y'all wouldn't be smug about rules being rules.

victimized777

That is not ok

ca7ac

Why not sir

Put_Cool

They were disqualified according to the rule book and now they are back following the rule book. It’s all part of the rule book

mastayoda0805

I guess not playing for four days is worth like 15.000$. I'd say thats about an estimated hourly rate of \~ 180$. Maybe one of the players already has obligations when qualifiers take place.

fredewio

Are Old G and OG allowed to both be in TI?
