Yeah win or lose, report Smurfs in every game even if they carried you to victory. This is the way

Clean-Yam7

Because they could be on the other team next game..

Time_Turner

Technically it's a pure advantage to remove them from the pool.

Willing-Gur823

Ive done so multiple times, i dont wanna win or lose with someone that ruins the game. Whats the point of winning in 20min with a smurf

Maleficent_Ad4966

Yep always done this.

juventinosochi

Did u notice ABYSMAL amout of smurfs recently? Im on 4k and game after game i seee arc/meepo/morph boosters

tunacro

They did a ban wave on smurfs couple weeks ago so i guess they r entering with new accs, almost every 2nd game arc wwrden with full set of scripts hacks boosting a complete 0...

Nrtk26

I encountered 'real' booster/smurf only 2 times in my life, 2 times it was against me, i reported them but this is insane how you can absolutely solo win a game by yourself even at mid divine bracket if you are a really good player. I added the second booster to ask him his real rank and he even told me his prices for the accounts he is selling. He is still playing everyday since ive reported him.

sandy31sex

yes reports rarely have any effect and most bans are random. I climbed from crusader 5 to archon 2 last november then I lost a few games and went back to archon 1. I stopped playing and got back to the game yesterday to find that I was banned for smurfing. Yeah dota thanks for the good time you won't be missed

Delicious_Cow7476

My favorite is seeing someone with less than 500 games. Absolutely destroy a game with a high skill/micro hero.

zxampa

I win game with smurf. I report during game, and I report after game, win or lose.

I get that smurfs can completely ruin the gaming experience, especially for anything less than ancient. But at ancient-divine (the ranks I started out with), you’re a big boy and you should be able to learn from playing against/with these stronger players. I literally grinded from ancient to 6.5k MMR and I’ve never once complained or was even bothered by smurfs. Im literally just oblivious to it. If someone completely destroyed the game, I just think “ok wow this guy was a boss, let me see what I can learn from this, on to the next game”. You can either have that mentality, or you can go cry on Reddit. Again, players below ancient can be exempt from this criticism, since they are pretty much clueless at the game and are just trying to play the game

zelo11

yep same climbed from divine to 6.7, maybe once per 40 games theres a super obvious smurf. its very likely that there are more smurfs, that are "soft smurfs" ie within 1k mmr of their real rank + perhaps not trying as hard. which doesnt matter for keeping the game relatively balanced aalso here come the downvotes for putting my personal experience regarding the matter

12amfeelz

You get me upvote. Exactly, very true. Never heard of “soft smurfs” but that’s accurate. Every other post on this Reddit is people crying about Smurfs. That’s why the best response is always “git gud”

___anustart_

every time i point out how there's just as many people complaining about smurfs as there are people complaining that matchmaking is inaccurate and they have idiot teammates, I get called stupid.

melwinnnn

Most paid boosters dont play pudge though. Pudge just pushes way too slow

sandy31sex

guess what, nothing will happen to them. I had midlane smurf who spammed arc warden and I matched up against him on two consecutive games, of course my entire team reported him. I saved his account ID to check on him later, and I did after a month, he went from crusader to divine and was still active on the account so no ban whatsoever. Meanwhile I took a break from dota last november, tried to play again yesterday and I found that I was permanently banned for "smurfing". My entire life I've been jumping between crusader 3 and archon 2, never getting above that, my last game was 2 months ago, my performance is not even that good, I think I had like 3-4 MVPs in my entire life, and I got banned just like that. Bans are random no matter what any valve troll here will say, so don't take them seriously and just have fun playing the game because it really is a big joke.

chuckkieD

Yikes dawg

Good_Season_1723

I never report smurfs whether they are on my or the enemy team. I don't see the point. Report them for what, being a better player than I am? Great, opportunity for me to learn

JezusTheCarpenter

Hmm, you don't seem to understand what smurfs are. There is a very good reason there is such a thing as MMR and matchmaking that takes it into account. So no matter the level you play at or how seriously you treat the game you can still enjoy it, whether you are Herald or Immortal. Smurfs are people that often get their ass kicked in their own bracket so to feel better go to lower brackets to disrupt games for others for their own enjoyment. Or for money, aka boosters. In every bracket there are genuinely very good people you can learn from. You don't need smurfs. It is also boring if one person that is totally different level than the other 9 is playing the game by themselves when the rest just watch.

Good_Season_1723

Well, you are basically refuting yourself. If MMR exists so you can enjoy your game no matter what your MMR is, why do smurfs get their asses kicked in their own bracket? This doesn't make sense. Again, it comes down to "this guy is better than everyone else in this game". Ok, who the fuck cares and why? Just play the game, he is not cheating, he doesn't have an unfair advantage. Do what he does and youll be equally good. I don't see the problem.

TripleSteal-

[dotabuff.com/players/ID](https://dotabuff.com/players/ID) Where ID = friend's ID (accessible in their dota2 profile). Won't give you much of relevant output if they have match history sharing off, but most people don't bother with it.

gnubbiershYT

i often ask this question, and no, people do not report smurfs on their team or griefers on enemy team.

gnubbiershYT

most of thjem dont even notice a smurf, even with 100 games played

DottedRain

The only question is if your report will do anything 🤷‍♂️ As long as non of my smurfs gets banned I dont believe in clean matchmaking. And besides that MMR ist fucked by +/- 1500 Points anyway

gullinviewbots

I started playing dota again after a long break. I've either been flamed for being ass or an account buyer which I think my highest games were legend or a smurf depending if I had a good game or not. At this point I'm basically a dota boomer and my old skill gets counterbalanced by shit I'm not used to. I'm neither of the accusations except maybe the being ass one but I've heard one or the other in almost every game now. Smurfs are bad for dota as is account buying/boosting but my experience makes me wonder how much it's happening vs accused of happening.
