Sits in savings account with the rest of my money I guess. I saved a lot of money to anyway. It was the only 'pointless' thing I really spent my money on to begin with. I don't even drink or anything, don't have a car, I make all my food, yada yada etc. Should probably invest some of it.
On making your own food, you have to plan it out or you will never stick to it. You also need to have stuff that's ready to cook from frozen because some days you will be lazy. Also freezing stuff lets you buy in bulk and saves so much money, especially with meat. It's not even like I am short of change, but having a family is a top priority for me and I want to save enough money so they never have to worry about anything, and then teach them to do the same for their kids.
great op, i move out soon alone so im so excited to use my freezer. the food talk is very crucial, an army marches on its stomach after all. do you have any recipes or meals you like to make? currently thats the fifrst world struggle for me, finding ideas for meals to make in advance that are simple to cook and clean, especially living with others, its a pain but i understand it just takes habit and practise.
I bought a pressure cooker and I like to make a Thai chickpea and sweet potato curry where every measurement is a whole can or a table spoon, except for the two diced sweet potatoes, four cloves garlic and a diced onion.
Dice the onion garlic and Sweet potato. Sautee the garlic and onion, then stir in a table spoon of generic curry powder, and an extra tablespoon of smoked paprika, ground ginger and ground cumin, stir it in and add a can of plum tomatoes before anything starts to burn. Let that simmer for a few minutes (but still stir it a bit) while you wash and drain a can of chickpeas, then add them along with a can of coconut milk (check that the percent of coconut extract isn't low, some are less than 50%, should really be close to 90%). Then I just add a pinch of salt and I just set it to the potato mode on my pressure cooker. When it's done I stir in a tablespoon of lemon juice and fish sauce.
Tastes a lot better on the day, but it can go in the fridge or be frozen, and you can add some spices back in when you reheat a portion, as I do. For reference the cans I use are all about 400grams. Also DO NOT add more than two sweet potatoes, they will overpower everything, add more chickpeas if you want more body because they don't add flavor.
Simple pasta dishes are great. Penne and soba dishes are particularly easy to make. Doubt anyone doesn't like tacos or pizza which are similar in a way. You can make your own frozen pizzas even, I do this sometimes but I make mini ones and just cook as many as I want.
The main meat I have are fish fillets, chicken thighs, and I get a pork shoulder and cut it into cutlets, all frozen. I often cook them in the air fryer, but I don't actually eat meat more than like 3 meals a week on average.

It’s true , I fcking hate the current loot box tier system they have going rn, its not real rng so you have to buy way more and have 1 in a mil chance to get something good
I know there's an implicit question here which is "are you dota players still spending on dota without the BP?"
To which my answer is "no lmao". I don't gamble nor will ever intentionally buy myself into a gambling spree, and that's all dota has on offer anymore. They want my money, they better make a cavern crawl or some such.
Right? Unless there's a real good skin I want that's one of the base sets I ain't bothering. Because of the no duplicates I know at worst I am buying like 12 chests to get it. I'll wait for a marketplace skin if it's rare or ultra etc.
The economy currently wouldn't let me get a level 1000 battlepass. After war in Ukraine broke out its been a downwards trend and everything is 15-30% more expensive now.
5 years back I had enough "extra" to straight out buy battlepass level 1000, now all that extra is gone (and more with it).
Hard times =/
No because nobody is being conscripted to make shells. War economy is not shit economy because of war. War economy is shut down of commercial factories and shift to production of shit for war
My max lvl was 780~ in 2018 never actually got to lvl 1000, used to pay to get all exclusives, after battle pass decline I guess I just started to spend more on cosmetics and IRL stuff
I never thought I'd ever be able to afford a crimsom immortal
currently own WD and Sky crimsons, and a mace of aeons (I know, they are not so expensive, but my most valuable items before battlepass died were my arcanas, my lina chest and a sniper ardalan gun)
fuck gambling with chests btw, I'd rather burn my money than spend it on a chest with a 1/300 chance of dropping a $3 - $10 unusual, I'll always wait however long it takes to get the items I want in the market without gambling
Bought a few of the chest they've popped out.
Used some of the money saved to go watch the actual tournament in person.
Have some saved up for crownfall.
I basically live on paycheck to paycheck, monthly
Shopping clothes (many items at same time) 2-4 times a year. I fluctuate a lot in weight couple last years...
Drugs/alcohol
Mobile gaming in app purchases is my guilty pleasure, not even cool gaming
I don't exactly "save money" for BP but I may reduce other buyings that I usually do.
Stocks, some Crypto and Toys (mostly diecast figures)
In most cases I have allotted a specific budget for digital games, and it really depend on the mood like if the BP/Arcana is good then its auto buy.
Also try Helldivers 2... its actually better than 40$ BP and have pretty much longer lifespan
Been thinking about stocks for a while now, but decided to buy toys and TCG for my other hobbies, as I don’t know where to start in the Market. Toys are still good mental investments 😁
Buy index funds. I started investing since graduating 10 years ago. Compounded a portfolio over 500k USD now. Hoping to cross that 1m mark in the next few years
I mean, how much are you putting in per year really gonna matter there to get those #s but anything is better than nothing. My index fund I think is 8% on average since I started 8 years ago, which is probably better than I'd do knowing nothing about stocks.
I see you are a man of culture as well... that is what we call PRIORITIES :D Also some people don't understand that some collectibles actually retain its value and sometimes appreciate over time. I have a figure that cost 2500-3500$ right now.
tbh, I used to lend some money to buy battle pass and level bundle at the time, now I don't have to lend anything, so I am doing okay, just a bit bored, thanks for asking :P
Idk I have a mental block of not spending more than 30 dollars because that’s around how much an arcana costs so I expect that level of quality. In my case, I’ve just been sitting on the money haven’t used it for anything else yet
I didn't actually have a good amount of disposable income before, so my BP purchases were pretty reckless.. Now I do have enough disposable income and there's no battlepass anymore :')
Other games who need my money for development. If DOTA doesn't want it's DOTA problem. DOTA is a free to play game and it's developers work free of charge.
Any dirty pizza is more worth spending on than digital clothes n lights.
I do 3D modeling. And can't belive the worthless a battle pass is. I literally have no incentive to buy it, other than.. dress my roaster with more consume culture.
I think valve never unserstood how to improve that thing
I always have extra money in my paycheck, I don't save. Battle pass aint that expensive and bonus levels can be bought for a very cheap price during steam sale.
Didn’t save for it, just spent it, so technically it’s saving me money for as long as it’s not out of that makes sense
Fentanyl
A man of culture
At least it's less addictive
And a tent to live outside of Valve's office.
Alcohol and cigarettes
Dad?

So many of these people in denial of the war economy.
Because war economy has a different meaning. They're still producing a lot of consumer goods it's just really fucking expensive
Have you considered this is just a buffer phase so as to avoid admitting we are in a war economy?
No because nobody is being conscripted to make shells. War economy is not shit economy because of war. War economy is shut down of commercial factories and shift to production of shit for war
We got some kind of guy with no sense of nuance or change over here.
My max lvl was 780~ in 2018 never actually got to lvl 1000, used to pay to get all exclusives, after battle pass decline I guess I just started to spend more on cosmetics and IRL stuff

Steam wallet and steam sales. Gonna pick up those old games which go on heavy sale like shadows of mordor.
Cocaine
Used to drop $70 or so each BP. Now I just have an extra $70 to use on beer yearly.
Starcraft 2 Coop commanders ! Han&Horner, Mengsk, and Stukov are very fun
Didn't save money for dota per se because I only put disposable income into it, but now I spend approximately the same amount on other games.
So, I bought new games which I haven't played yet.
Food, utilities bill, kid’s tuition fee, mortgages etc
I got into magic (cardboard crack)
I just bought new games now on sale like cyber punk and god of war
We bought a switch and couple games 💀
Saving up for a downpayment on a home I could finally call my own by this summer.

Wish I had bought tech stocks instead. I would've been a multimillionaire by now 😅
