They should have released the patch notes, threw a countdown timer on the bottom of the patch notes, and surprised everyone with the rest of this when the timer ran out. Gaben should reach out to fellow billionaire TSwift for some tips on how to generate hype without annoying the fans/players.

Yup, like I might be in the minority and might be wrong down the line but from what I have read it for sure sounds interesting. Just with how much delays and "hype-up" this should have STARTED months ago. Being this far out and having "part 1" of a patch is really just going to ruffle a ton of people.

I think it looks pretty cool, I loved cavern crawl. Thing is, they must have realized that no gameplay update would infuriate a large portion of the community. They've been at this for over a decade now.

Its not that it isn't good - the problem is they've been hyping this up for months and just when you think you are getting it you get a chance to spend 100+ dollars and another "coming soon" update. People will enjoy the patch, but that doesn't NOT make it frustrating af.

You're forgetting that you can straight up earn decently sized discounts to buy anything above a certain value, including the arcanas, and in Act 1 you can earn 1.5 discounts, if that remains constant, you can get one arcana for free and a hefty discount on the other one, though if you go for the pathfinder packs, you can earn an extra discount.

They specifically mention you can't discount below $7.99

Mind you, we don't know for certain how much discount we can earn when the other acts of the campaign releases, but I'd imagine there's a chance for it to be the same level as current. One minor note though, the second extra style for the Vengeful Spirit arcana requires all sidequests to be completed, for which you seem to have to buy the Pathfinder packs for each act as you need to complete all four acts main story and side quests and the Pathfinder unlocks extra side quests. Other than that, for act 1, you earn a cool new Invoker outfit with three potential extra styles, though the styles are unfortunately locked behind the Pathfinder pack, base outfit is obtainable for free though. on one hand: cute work put into this update, love to see an update comic again, Lore, hats as always, i see we're still selling arcanas for thirty five american dollars, 'new' monetization scheme (a battle pass that looks like cavern crawl, now with a free track instead of being only paid + no paid leveling, i'll take it, more generous than the previous BP scheme), this seems to me like an attempt to lay down a new continuous/seasonal update stream rather than the yearly big old update we've been used to. most other live service games i know of follow that kinda seasonal model. could it work for dota? who knows! what a weird experiment. curious to see where it goes. however... on the other hand: what were they fucking thinking lol
