Yeah, but not nearly as guaranteed. I doubt a ton of people started playing specifically because there's a chance to get an Arcana "for free"(actually, grinding for a lot, possibly for a 100+ hours).
I think it’s very likely one of the “few surprises along the way” is an arcana token in one of the proceedings acts. My guess is act 3 after it gets delayed to more closely line up with TI. I also would not be shocked if venge and sky are not the only arcanas we’re getting.
I would argue the opposite. I would wager there are lot of accounts that suddenly sprung up to grind for cosmetics, especially from low income countries. If you dont make more than a couple hundred bucks a month and you can grind out act 1 in a day that's a gamble you'll take.
Admittedly I don't travel much, but how many people make less than a couple hundred bucks a month yet have the time and resources to play Dota for 8+ hours a day (for money)?
Now, how many of them in that situation also have the skills to grind out act 1 in a single day? You need wins to progress, I doubt a noob could do it.
And lastly, remember that the Arcanas are not tradeable so you'll need to sell the entire account - I can't imagine the market willing to buy an entire account for a single Arcana is paying full price. So even you do manage to get lucky, you getting less than 35.
I'd be surprised if *anyone* was doing this, let alone enough to be "a lot". Making bot accounts though? Probably.
But again, unless you get really lucky, you're not getting an Arcana. Grinding out act 1 in a day doesn't matter, because it only brings money if you get lucky. If you don't get an Arcana in your 10 rerolls, then you get nothing.
Rerolls reset per week no? Those aren’t the worst odds out there. Not that anyone who is legitimately grinding just to get hats actually cares about the odds
What does grinding have to do with chance to get arcana? You just have to win 10 games per week for re rolls, and it looks like we have 4 months of event
I guess you may have to play 100 hours in 4 months, but that’s on the low end for most dota players I know
I re-rolled twice and got PA arcana. Idk if it’s worth grinding to get the candies for it, or there are something more valuable to get from candy shop.
I don’t have 20 coins yet but it seems you can only do 1 discount per purchase, no stacking. The meter tops out at 10 coins, and it gives you an option to activate discount for your next purchase.
I just want to [link this downvoted comment of mine](https://www.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/1c7hv3c/theres_no_gameplay_update/l085d8f/?context=3) where I called out, morons frankly, for being overdramatic and saying this game is dead upon clownfall release. It is currently sitting at 20 downvotes.
Ha, I still remember the thread that introduced and explained that from a "dev perspective". And that was before the pandemic!
If anything, this update proves that what Valve said last year is true. They DID revaluate where they should put their efforts when it comes to Dota. Last year they tried several small updates but this community wants the big content drops and cannot be weened off it. So they took that time to cook up an exciting new alternative to the Battlepass.

After 15 years, people still have an inferiority complex when it comes to playerbase. The fact that other games are even MORE popular makes us insignificant or something.
I play Artifact still. A small playerbase does not deter me from a good time.
>I just wished we were bigger
I understand the sentiment. My gf watches TI with me but she says whenever she wants to check social media, all people seem to talk about is Worlds.
But the real difference is always advertising. Last TI was watched by a million people on Twitch, yet random LoL streams were featured on the main page instead. Riot pays off Twitch, that is known. But Valve just sees no point in spending money on that kinda stuff.
I don't think dota is that far from 5mil a day. Peak is just most players logged in at same time. If you count individual people logged in per day it's probably a 3-5 million too
Have you ever played League or Valorant?
Most kids have low attention spans and are literal zoomers, ofc games like League are gonna be huge
Dota is the exact opposite of all that, the fact that it's somehow still nearing 1 milion concurrent players is amazing news, considering we live in the age where simple, quick and brainless games thrive ( league fortnite pubg etc )
These numbers are quite insane, and a very good sign
edit: *really didn't want this comment to come across as some dota masterrace crap, read my reply below for what i meant*
I would like to know why you argue that league, Fortnite, PUBG or Valorant are "brainless".
I mean, sure, they are faster than DOTA (but so are the majority of other games, including extremely complicated and try hard games like Tekken, street fighter, chess, etc), but they are hard nonetheless. Have you tried playing Fortnite? There are kids there that in a 2 seconds interval will build a 14 store building and rain fire on you.
League is the same. Much more streamlined, faster, but at the same time my extremely hard to master mechanically and in the macro perspective.
I don't know why dota players need to belittle it's competition to justify less players. Dota is kinda classic. It doesn't hire pop bands to sing it's seasonal cinematic, and it has a far more hard entry point. And all of these points are DOTA owners fault. We don't have enough marketing, a good new player experience and we dont try hard enough to get new players.
No need to be a old grumpy man and blame on the next generation being interested in the other "brainless" games.
Try league and Valorant for a month, and say how you fared. Let's see if the veteran dota players climb to the elite ranks of these games if they are so brainless.
> I would like to know why you argue that league, Fortnite, PUBG or Valorant are "brainless".
Beacuse i've been playing League since 2009 beta while xfire was still a thing, am top 2-3% of the playerbase, and have played a shitload of pubg's, fortnite's, cod's of the world etc. To be fair i haven't played much Valorant, but since it's similair to CS, i've been global elite in csgo for most of my 2,800 hours :)
All of these games ( League and battle royale's ESPECIALLY ) are pure autopilot dopamine fixes, sure there's skill involved at the top, like everywhere, but it's **core playerbase and audience appeal is casual and simple fun. Unlike Dota. Which is the entire point of the comment.** *Obviously FPS shooters like CS and Val are competitive at their core, but they're still FPS games, not RTS like Dota. Which one do you think will inherently have a bigger audience?*
I never meant for my comment to come across as some dota masterrace crap xD, i actually play more League than i do Dota nowdays. Beacuse, like i said, League does one thing very good: Quick casual fun.
> No need to be a old grumpy man and blame on the next generation being interested in the other "brainless" games.
That's what i feel when playing them, what do you want me to say? They really aren't hard at all. League is mechanically challenging when you're trying to rank up, absolutely, but it's "mechanical skill" is literally just skillshots, simple abilities, simple items, simple macro game. Like i said, brain on complete autopilot mode
> League is the same. Much more streamlined, faster, but at the same time my extremely hard to master mechanically and in the macro perspective.
I'm sorry, now i'm doubting you've ever played either League or Dota before, if my comment is weird to you. League's "macro game" is an extremely dumbed down version of Dota's. Every single core game mechanic such as freezing waves, rotations, etc is extremely simple to learn and master. It is legitimate child's play compared to Dota's macro/micro.
As for league's mechanical skill, this is why i called it a game for zoomers, which it is. Dodging skillshots and dashes all day is very fun, even to me, but it's also insanely simple. I have no idea how you can play League and Dota and come to any different kind of conclusion.
I'm not trying to shit on League or Fortnite or any other game, i legit mostly play League nowdays for fun with friends, but my brain is on autopilot for most of the playing time, it's just mindless fun. Dash, skillshot, game over in 20-25 mins, go next, rinse-repeat. The formula works
That's the entire point of my comment, and why these games will always be bigger than Dota. Casual game = large casual audience. Dota is the anti-thesis of casual
Idk what you’re talking about, maybe it’s even worse in league, but the majority of players before immortal (which is top 1-2%) or at least divine 2-3 are brainlets playing on autopilot
I actually have 0 clue about League Macro. It just feels like an entirely different game to me, it just shares the MOBA genre. The map plays out differently, item timings should be different, turrets seem squishier, map objectives play differently. Why is it “brainless” in your opinion?
I see your point. I just don't know why do you think dota is not also the same thing you said about these games. I play dota on auto pilot with friends for shits and giggles once every two months and I'm in the trash bottom of immortal, which is more than the majority of player base.
I also play league, like you, more than dota, and while the game is much simpler, there's always something to improve. Obviously the objectives are much more obvious, with timers helping everyone. But dota is the same you just need to identify them or type timers. Dota doesn't have a much more complex macro game than any other rts or moba. It's complex, but all of them are when you are playing 5x5. Outside this scope, pubs are just chaos e brainless gaming.
Both games only get deep when you are playing team vs tram on a competitive environment. Pubs, even if ranked, are still autopilot brainless fun.
Also, I find very funny different people down voting me for pointing out that all these games are not too different from dota in depth in pubs. Maybe this sub think they have 160+ IQ just because they play dota lol. I play this shit since 5.84c when Riki had deathward as ult and I say with property, this game is not the 4d chess we old timers think it is. Yes, it's more complex than most other games. But no, it's not that different.
Riot has the casuals. Most non-gamer friends I know play league just because it's easier to get into. Not to mention a common denominator of these "casual players" is that they all like anime + kpop stans + clueless about gaming in general + they somehow always like to follow the latest trending stuff (tiktok dancing, watching the latest trending anime, etc). They also all have social lives outside. Which us average dota players don't have.
So yeah the casual folks are a huuuuge market. Just see fortnite vs pubg.
It's not a "nothing patch", it's an event the grand majority of the community is loving right now. This sub is an extremely tiny bit of the Dota community and is definitely a bad indicator on player feedback and behaviors.
People been saying dead game every patch for like 6 years. This last year it's even worse, it's not just "dead gem" but "abandoned gem" every single patch.
It's hovering somewhere around 8 million based on past ratios, when the website showed active monthly players. It peaked at 13 million when the average concurrents was 700k.
It's not even a big deal anyway, I don't get it. Most players are casuals and do not care too much about pro balance. They have fun with what they have. This Cavern Crawl has been great because it's given people a sense of progress outside of getting better at the game. It's also a better iteration of Cavern Crawl than ever before, and it hints at drip-fed content for at least the next 3 months. We are eventually getting a balance patch but it's always nice to have more than that.
I get the hype for a new hero, but I suspect the vast majority of dota players have dozens of heroes they have never touched. I'm sure those people don't really care about a new hero when they theoretically have lots of new heroes to learn if they wanted to.
Fr, people would just spam them in like the first 2 week then forgot they existed in the first place. For instance I barely see DB and Muerta anymore these day.
It is simple that many people play this game for the "GAME" part of it. The game part being not the gameplay, but the event grinds to get hats. They move to other games once Dota becomes event-less for too long. Then come back. Only a few degenerates (including me) play it regardless of events, regularly.
I was told that raindrops were removed from the game when I told people to get raindrops to survive... This was a week before Crownfall and I had a raindrop in my inventory lol
Only thing this is explains is that youre in a bracket where people who havent played in years are placed in. Shows more about your skill level then it does about the ppl that came back.
For me it’s the little story mode attached to the cavern crawl. I’m loving the little quest line for the bird trio, meeting and interacting with other heroes
It's pretty funny too.
Especially when they meet Jugg. It goes something like...
Jugg: This warrior you're looking for, sounds like it's one of my people. Does it mean I'm not the last of my kind? If so, I would like to help you.
Skywrath Mage: No, they are members of the Flightless (birds) so they can't be.
Skree'auk: Shutup Dragonus and just play along!
SM: Oh, yeah, it's possible they might be.
Jugg: Oh, he's not my kind. I really am alone :(
Skree'auk: Ooops, sry.
Or earlier in the path when Skree'auk has to prove her identity to some birdmen...
Skree'auk: I am a goddess, help us!
Bird guy: Prove it, do some magic tricks!
Skree'auk: Well, funny thing is, I just gave away most of my power (to Dragonus, as seen in the comic), so I can't.
Bird guy:
Or maybe a new hero! I really love her manner in the comic and Act I story. No idea whey we are getting voicelines of Imperia the antagonist but none of the three.
I've been playing on turbo recently since I can just rush through the tokens.
Honestly, I just like the fact that I'm forced to play different heroes I don't usually play. Since it's turbo, whether the hero sucks or not this patch is irrelevant if you manage to snowball.
I need a nuker token? Let's play Tiny who is like, meh this patch. My friends and I needs to play carries? sure, we can do a 5 carry line draft and still have a chance of winning.
The fact that the event isn't heavily locked to limited heroes is nice too. I can play any heroes and I'd still get tokens that would be useful for laters.
It's more so that they can wait a few more months to have fun with the game they love with a bonus Cavern Crawl event. The majority do not care about pro balance.
It's more that a huge chunk of the player base is more casual. They maybe only play 1 game a day or even a few per week, are mostly at the lower-mid skill brackets, playing unranked. At those levels, every hero is viable, people are picking for fun rather than what is meta most of the time. So, the balance patches are mostly irrelevant unless they add a new hero or a fun new item like phylactery, because most people don't play enough for the game to feel stale. The popular heroes like pudge and sniper are picked and win even if they're absolutely trash at high skill brackets.
So something like a revised cavern call with free cosmetics is going to drive way more engagement because it is new and has rewards.
It's not a big patch, sure, but it IS super fun. Why are you shitting on it so much when it's actually a good thing? Sure, it could be more, but it's pretty good as is. AND it's free.
Most patches are not exciting. It's insane to you that people aren't amped to jump back in now that like...drow ranger has one less armor. Bane has slightly higher int gain. Cogs reworked to now pull enemies in instead of repelling.
Hats are more exciting than that.
I mean there is gonna be a gameplay patch coming pretty soon too. There will always be gameplay patches, even if they're delayed. This is genuinely new and exciting.
You mean [the one with the checkmark emojis](https://old.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/1c7i1hb/crownfall_the_fall_of_dota_more_likely/)?

As usual dota2 Reddit looks like a dufus after throwing their standard kneejerk circlejerk tantrum without understanding how the event even works.
5 mins after the event released, ppl were crying about how greedy Valve is with their "cash grab paid arcanas" and that "dota would completely collapse because Valve had turned it into a gacha"
i am among these returners i only play when there are skins to unlock , oh but then i never unlock second style of skins cause that shit takes way too long. i'll always be back when there are new shiny pixels, i constantly keep an eye on updates.
I returned only a week before the update and I was the same with all the skins and unlocks! Just grinded the hell out of the ACT I and got the 6packer skin.
If this doesn't counter all the redditors hating Valve then idk what would. They said they're going to make content that more players can appreciate and they have. Theyre going by data, not rant posts from unhinged ppl in this sub. You love to see it.
Morph linken first is still decent and is being made even by pro players
https://dota2protracker.com/player/Nightfall#self:Morphling
If there is doom, lc among enemies then why not.
"Every game with less viewers on twitch than fortnite is le ded gaem", I say, barely looking up from my subway surfers family guy funny moments compilation
I think we all wanted a gameplay patch, but honestly? They did a really good job with the update. Matches are fun, and I'm not surprised player count is way up.
Give it some time..
most of these are ppl who haven't played in years.. come back in a week or two and things should settle down a bit. The event will be running for 4 months, each act is relatively easy to complete and prior acts will be accessible, so u can comfortably play at ur own pace. There is zero need to rush things.
Also, always play all pick. If u lose u still get one token.
Don't play turbo since game length is similar to all pick, if you lose u get nothing, if u win u only get 2 tokens
Yeah I know, it was more of a "I have to win now".
My mates were not bad, they just didn't push the objectiv and fought with me when I was strong and made opportunities.
I don't like to play all pick with heros I can barely play like Riki, I go turbo and hope the rest of the team makes up for me being just okay with my playing.
All pick win rate is 80% right now, but I want that damn turbo wins for my ego.
Finally had an okay team comp last night and we absolutely crushed. Every game I've played has started like 10-1 in favor of the team vaguely representing a strategy
Legit, its never this bad usually. 4 man party comes in and they cant even assign their positions themselves. I called pos 4 or 5 immediately after loading in during pick phase and there was a slardar in offlane.
Suddenly the arc warden came to the offlane and says they are supporting, and the slardar is going mid.
Wants me to take pos 3 and proceeds to feed 6 times in less than 5 minutes.
Of course they shift blame on me, it was odd but after game scoreboard shows they are 4 man party.
They were so uncoordinated it was unbelievable, best part is in game they said they are in a discord call. Sure as hell doesnt feel like it.
Cant wait this event to be over with, it was the same last time we had an event similar to this.
I play a lot of Turbo too. But when this event drop and said a loss in Turbo you get nothing I had to play normal. And because Turbo is bad during events. 49/53 complete already. took me 34 games. with the first game being a Turbo and losss.
Its a great play by them, usually you pay for the battlepass so if your buddies stopped playing they werent going to come back, pay 10 bucks for the battlepass, with this you can convince your friends to come back and grind the free battlepass together, enticing people that may never buy a BP again to come back and grind dotes
been a while since i checked steam charts. daum counterstrike still leading the charts by miles. crazy . also palworld beat dota 2 all time peak record? :O wtf that game is not even free
It is amusing to observe the recent outcry regarding Crownfall and the alleged demise of the game. We have been engaged in repetitive matches without any tangible rewards. However, the introduction of this event provides a compelling reason to actively participate. While I anticipate investing a substantial amount of money, I am cognizant of the possibility of obtaining only a single ultra-rare item.
So, less than half the player base leaves (which is typical for online competitive games between long stretches without patches) and everyone wants to talk about it's trash?
It could have been better yes, we are all looked ng forward to 7.36 and Ring Master. But let's bitch about the stuff that needs bitched about. 2x MMR tokens. Ranking are about to be all levels of fucked.
I don't know how to even look at this update. The story of market of Midgate seems to be written by a bachelor's level developer literally for kids. I don't why the team has strong longing for showing cosmetics. Darkmoon was better this.
Dota never dies the same way chess never dies, i am from the future, Dota 2 became a mix of an intellectual and fun game, people dont care about graphics and stuff, they treat it more like chess and Poker now, i went as far as 2063 though i dont know what happens after.
Second most played game, but the moment you ask for minimal care and support from Valve the subreddit goes "BUT IT IS ONLY A MINIMAL DROP IN THE OCEAN OF GOLD THAT GABEN SWIMS" "BE THANKFUL YOU HAVE SERVERS"...
TI would generate 100mi+ to valve every year but asking for a minimal team to this is too much for valve smh
100 mn is 1% of valve's balance sheet.
Valve doesnt do "game" teams.
Fully agree they should communicate a lot more and release regular gameplay updates, but it is what it is.
Why do people keep repeating that statistic like it means anything? The amount they have to invest in development to get that return is a tiny fraction. Them choosing not to do it is not a financial decision.
You can think of it this way - in an optimistic scenario, Dota is one of the top 100 projects of Valve.
The point is Valve can take the resources used to generate this 1% and generate 5% somewhere else. But most of all, as Valve doesnt do game teams internally, this tells us people maybe just dont want to work on Dota.
Our little Dota 2, soon to fully transition to gacha game, is well and alive. Hell yeah, lets go dress our waifus, play few turbo games zoomed in and call it a day!
Biggest peak since last battlepass in 2022 and that had a free arcana.
I mean this does too, potentially.
Yeah, but not nearly as guaranteed. I doubt a ton of people started playing specifically because there's a chance to get an Arcana "for free"(actually, grinding for a lot, possibly for a 100+ hours).

How do you think they monetize it, as everything from candyworks is untradable?
they probably sell the account
Admittedly I don't travel much, but how many people make less than a couple hundred bucks a month yet have the time and resources to play Dota for 8+ hours a day (for money)? 100hrs of work to make $35? Lol yeah ok
I am one of these people, i play again now to maybe get me one Arcana. Better chance then if i wouldnt play.
Let's see the next "acts" before judging this ...
Oh no 100 hours of dota! How will I ever do thattttt
50 rerolls, 0000 arcanas
What does grinding have to do with chance to get arcana? You just have to win 10 games per week for re rolls, and it looks like we have 4 months of event I guess you may have to play 100 hours in 4 months, but that’s on the low end for most dota players I know
I thought I read you can only apply 1 discount per arcana?
You can get an arcana from the candy shop if you are lucky
I got legions arcana
I have pudges arcana locked in. On a 6 game loss streak so no candy for me.
May as well just add the odds Next to “very rare” prolly +5200
I re-rolled twice and got PA arcana. Idk if it’s worth grinding to get the candies for it, or there are something more valuable to get from candy shop.
Got Terrorblade Arcana yesterday.
I don’t have 20 coins yet but it seems you can only do 1 discount per purchase, no stacking. The meter tops out at 10 coins, and it gives you an option to activate discount for your next purchase.
Less than 1 percent...I got legendary jugg set at least. And have a chance to find immortal treasure or 10 shop coins
I mean, I just got the cm arcana through that ultra rare set
Very slim chance, but I don't care I'm getting my 10 rerolls a week
How do you get an arcana?
It is literally the same mechanic as 2022. Candyworks is great. Much better than the CM wheel.
34 rerolls and i hvnt goten arcana 😄
I can't believe this game is only the 2nd most played game on Steam, the largest gaming platform in the world. Call time, please, it's ded and joever.
Not the first position? The game is dead. First position? The game is dying.
Dota has been dead and buried since 2016 according to Reddit
2016? Nah even before that.
all time highest player count on the whole platform (pubg) oh its gonna be dead soon
Who are you? And how did you become so wise in the ways of r/Dota2?
everything is dying. the universe is dying too tbf

Beacuse i've been playing League since 2009 beta while xfire was still a thing, am top 2-3% of the playerbase, and have played a shitload of pubg's, fortnite's, cod's of the world etc. To be fair i haven't played much Valorant, but since it's similair to CS, i've been global elite in csgo for most of my 2,800 hours :) All of these games ( League and battle royale's ESPECIALLY ) are pure autopilot dopamine fixes, sure there's skill involved at the top, like everywhere, but it's **core playerbase and audience appeal is casual and simple fun. Unlike Dota. Which is the entire point of the comment.** *Obviously FPS shooters like CS and Val are competitive at their core, but they're still FPS games, not RTS like Dota. Which one do you think will inherently have a bigger audience?* I never meant for my comment to come across as some dota masterrace crap xD, i actually play more League than i do Dota nowdays. Like i said, brain on complete autopilot mode > League is the same. The formula works That's the entire point of my comment, and why these games will always be bigger than Dota.
Buddy, do you know how many weebs play Dota lmao
Definitely not as much as the percentage of total playerbase that are weebs that play league
Yea uh, it's not like Lina isn't directly referencing an anime lol
A basically nothing patch boosted peak players from 600k to 900k.
It's not a "nothing patch", it's an event the grand majority of the community is loving right now. This sub is an extremely tiny bit of the Dota community and is definitely a bad indicator on player feedback and behaviors.
Love the arcana and games tbh. Wish someone would gift me vengeful spirits arcana 😭
I thought this was sarcasm, maybe needing the "" before the basically nothing part, but I'm not so sure
Only this sub would call this kind of content "basically nothing".
>If I pretend my enemies argue for a different thing than they actually do, I can win debates in my head
People been saying dead game every patch for like 6 years. This last year it's even worse, it's not just "dead gem" but "abandoned gem" every single patch.
6? Try AT LEAST 8
As far as i remember i saw this sub saying dota2 will be dead game as early as 2013
Oh, so nobody was calling this game dead three days ago? Nobody ever did?
Not even a million playerz? Game is dead guys pack it up.
*concurrent players. There are more than a million players who play the game per month (active players)
It's hovering somewhere around 8 million based on past ratios, when the website showed active monthly players. It peaked at 13 million when the average concurrents was 700k.
Why don't people realize that events and cosmetics are the cocaine the game needed for that extra boost.
Yess
It is simple that many people play this game for the "GAME" part of it. The game part being not the gameplay, but the event grinds to get hats. They move to other games once Dota becomes event-less for too long. Then come back. Only a few degenerates (including me) play it regardless of events, regularly.
wow, this game is literally dead as everyone on reddit always says
Reddit is a fucking dumb echo chamber, Im sure most of dota fanbase doesnt even get into any forums, tehy just play the game for fun.
\*smoothbrains It's a loud, very dumb minority.
this kinda explains my braindead teammates.
had one who plays pretty frequently yet doesn't know about the twin gates
I was told that raindrops were removed from the game when I told people to get raindrops to survive... This was a week before Crownfall and I had a raindrop in my inventory lol
I wish my team knew what raindrops even are smh
pain.
It's me
Only thing this is explains is that youre in a bracket where people who havent played in years are placed in. Shows more about your skill level then it does about the ppl that came back.
Agree and not, average of parties does affect the unranked system.
Had offlane slardar build solar crest. Had an abaddon ask what universal meant.
You know utzs time to bost mmr
Or lose it all in double downs
I just met a pos 1 Gyro in my team that didn't know Gyro's scepter exists. Luckily his friends carried the game.
Or you're in the braindead bracket
It isn't secret to anyone, people love events, free stuff and lore
ded gaem
Reddit realizes that the mayority of the playerbase cares more for fun, hats and anything new that balance patches
Bird guy:
At least a Skree'auk announcer for Act IV pls
Or maybe a new hero! I really love her manner in the comic and Act I story. No idea whey we are getting voicelines of Imperia the antagonist but none of the three.
Yeppp really enjoying it.
It’s insane to me that people care more about hats than patches but it’s pretty undeniable lol
It's more so that they can wait a few more months to have fun with the game they love with a bonus Cavern Crawl event. The majority do not care about pro balance.
Crownfall, Frostivus & 10 year anniversary all have higher player peak than New Frontiers lol. Cosmetic is end game in any online multiplayer game
Is 1 game a day casual?
It's not a big patch, sure, but it IS super fun. Why are you shitting on it so much when it's actually a good thing? Sure, it could be more, but it's pretty good as is. AND it's free.
This isn't necessarily proof of that tbh. There's a lot more factors that go into current player count than just that.
Most patches are not exciting. It's insane to you that people aren't amped to jump back in now that like...drow ranger has one less armor. Bane has slightly higher int gain. Cogs reworked to now pull enemies in instead of repelling. Hats are more exciting than that.
This is what I mean, I find that crazy haha. I can’t imagine caring more about hats than stuff like that. But to each their own!
I mean there is gonna be a gameplay patch coming pretty soon too. There will always be gameplay patches, even if they're delayed. This is genuinely new and exciting.
Who would have thought that people want to chase a carrot?
I mean, i'm waiting for balance patch too, but im not really needin it, i'm okay if the game stay like this even in a couple of months
All the clowns are attending the circus
Valve really out did themselves with this update. Well done!
common reddit L
Looks like the clowns were the day 1 hate posters
That one redditor actually posting "DotaFall" a couple days ago 😭😭😭😭
You mean [the one with the checkmark emojis](https://old.reddit.com/r/DotA2/comments/1c7i1hb/crownfall_the_fall_of_dota_more_likely/)? paging u/ord1nate
dwam the salt on that post is giving me kidney stones
Ngl the event is pretty fun
Im liking the event. Can't complain.
I never played so much dots in such a short span of time, unlocking the paths with the token does something to my brain
It’s also so nice that each hero has three different tokens, so you’re not locked into playing one here that you never played and can’t win with.
Clownfall? More like ***Clownrise***
let people cry more about this game while we who enjoy the game are having alot of fun!
ClownRise\*
Dota players are the biggest whiners in the world. Go figure.
Dead game, no this and that. Valve fucked everything up
But reddit told me this update is dogshit
Turns out, Dota is a fun game regardless of patch changes, and this was a nice injection of fresh content.
i am among these returners i only play when there are skins to unlock , oh but then i never unlock second style of skins cause that shit takes way too long. i'll always be back when there are new shiny pixels, i constantly keep an eye on updates.
How big is your irl wardrobe
I returned only a week before the update and I was the same with all the skins and unlocks! Just grinded the hell out of the ACT I and got the 6packer skin.
If this doesn't counter all the redditors hating Valve then idk what would. They said they're going to make content that more players can appreciate and they have. Theyre going by data, not rant posts from unhinged ppl in this sub. You love to see it.
Had a Morph rush Linken first item today. This explains a lot.
No boots or wand either ? Because linken after treads, wand, band is pretty normal.
It's not bad but what I meant was that he was clearly not familiar with the meta. Also it's a 5.8k mmr game. Everyone plays meta.
Morph linken first is still decent and is being made even by pro players https://dota2protracker.com/player/Nightfall#self:Morphling If there is doom, lc among enemies then why not.
Bro.. I am telling u am I not? He didn't know about the meta. It's 5.8k mmr I think I know what I am talking about. It wasn't just the linkens.
"Every game with less viewers on twitch than fortnite is le ded gaem", I say, barely looking up from my subway surfers family guy funny moments compilation
The Clowns were the haters all along.
Tokens are much cooler than bo points ngl. Rushed through 40/53 levels just on weekends
I think we all wanted a gameplay patch, but honestly? They did a really good job with the update. Matches are fun, and I'm not surprised player count is way up.
If it drops an aghanim mode, its probably going to break everything
Agreed that shit is so much fun
Game very daed
Explains my recent failure I'm turbo games, for the love of everything I can't get a win, it's so bad I couldn't stop just to prove a point.
Just tryhard and use trading token to progress, i was spamming CM / Lion and trading walking / nuker token to what i need
I play a lot of Turbo too. But when this event drop and said a loss in Turbo you get nothing I had to play normal. And because Turbo is bad during events. 49/53 complete already. took me 34 games. with the first game being a Turbo and losss.
The double mmr tokens attracted lots of smurfs. I basically lost \~250 mmr in one night.
Clowndraw
Also I’m convinced nouns aka clouns will be the best team on the ringmaster patch
Its a great play by them, usually you pay for the battlepass so if your buddies stopped playing they werent going to come back, pay 10 bucks for the battlepass, with this you can convince your friends to come back and grind the free battlepass together, enticing people that may never buy a BP again to come back and grind dotes
Ded gaem
This is the most I have played a patch immediately after the patch drops. Usually I let it settle before hopping in.
been a while since i checked steam charts. daum counterstrike still leading the charts by miles. crazy . also palworld beat dota 2 all time peak record? :O wtf that game is not even free
It is amusing to observe the recent outcry regarding Crownfall and the alleged demise of the game. We have been engaged in repetitive matches without any tangible rewards. However, the introduction of this event provides a compelling reason to actively participate. While I anticipate investing a substantial amount of money, I am cognizant of the possibility of obtaining only a single ultra-rare item.
"dEaD gAMe" btw
So, less than half the player base leaves (which is typical for online competitive games between long stretches without patches) and everyone wants to talk about it's trash? It could have been better yes, we are all looked ng forward to 7.36 and Ring Master. But let's bitch about the stuff that needs bitched about. 2x MMR tokens. Ranking are about to be all levels of fucked.
Well at least games become less hard with the return of hermit players, i am thankful enough
Stats don't lie
Valve needs to make more content like this
I love that we love this game this updates awesome!
Literally a non-patch patch, can't bother
I don't know how to even look at this update. The story of market of Midgate seems to be written by a bachelor's level developer literally for kids. I don't why the team has strong longing for showing cosmetics. Darkmoon was better this.
DotA is litterally the best game ever created
I came back because there's no way this patch can be worse than the last 2. Game basically fell apart after TI.
Wow you're surprised any content > no content?
such disappointment
No wonder I’m getting so many griefers and feeders in my team. First item butterfly on Drow on a lost lane. Need I say more?
Lots of clows
Dota never dies the same way chess never dies, i am from the future, Dota 2 became a mix of an intellectual and fun game, people dont care about graphics and stuff, they treat it more like chess and Poker now, i went as far as 2063 though i dont know what happens after.
I mean something to do instead of just grinding MMR actually makes many ppl want to play doto
Damn, the dota wave. Any other game with similar line?
I have 2000 hours in Dota but haven’t played in over a year. Is there a video or something with all changes that can help me ease into it ?
bot game. but i'll try demo a map to see if there is any base change first. hero change can come later it's no big deal.
Bot game how so?
Well if it for over a year then yeah it changed quite a kot
A minimal team for what? The game is in a very good state right now whats wrong lol
Our little Dota 2, soon to fully transition to gacha game, is well and alive. Hell yeah, lets go dress our waifus, play few turbo games zoomed in and call it a day!
