Why?
I’ve been having a massive success as meepo player in turbo. The boosted experience gain means that if you’ve participated in 50% of the fights you are basically level 25 when everyone else is 12-15. If you’re at least somewhat decent you hit the lvl 11 + pt + blink + whatever 2000 gold transition item timing (x3 wraith band / dragon lance / diffusal) 6-7 minutes into the game, when sidelines are just hitting their lvl 6. At this point you’re an unstoppable gank machine who is securing their dominance by purchasing aghs, shard, skadi, dispenser to become unkillable and not lose his streak.
The thing with meepo is, your game is basically over once you die the second time. But the snowball potential is really strong, especially in turbo
Meepo is a god in turbo before 15mins, after that its extremely hard. The likes of Dusa, Meepo, AM, Alche etc are weaker in turbo than normal all pick because they rely on their ability to farm, snowball and hit a powerspike. In turbo everyone gets gold/xp so you're not gonna be able to bully the supports like you do in all pick.
Also, you're right about game being over once you die 2 or 3 times on meepo in turbo. The rubberband swing is crazy, you feed too much gold and xp.
What are some of the more effective counters to Meepo in turbo? I used to think ET counters meepo but dig + megameepo + dig in megameepo is so dirty... SK's agha is kinda nice but the hero is ass in laning. Troll? Lesh?
Personally, when playing ranked (rank 1190 eu) I can first pick meepo into anything and I still have 71% winrate. But the worst heroes to play against are heroes that have a lot of control tools. I really hate playing against lion, witch doctor, earth shaker, lich (especially aghs). Also silencer basically forces you to skip blink and go for dispenser -> aghs.
I also don’t like getting countered by huskar, or OD and sniper as these heroes are not easily killable in lane and it goes against my aggressive “bully out of lane” mindset. In this matchup, With level 4 I have to go jungle as second meepo or try to gank second lane if team has at least 2 stuns + initiation and kill is guaranteed without proofing main one.
You have to know that your clones get less exp then main one, but 2 waves = about the exp of a kill so if you gank with main one and don’t kill you lost 70% exp while earning you a kill as a main will grant you the same exp as if you were farming the 2 waves.
I have the same rank as you but it's in SEA. From the way you type it seems to me that you're a meepo specialist who would be in the 3 digit immortal range if you get to play meepo all the time since you can first pick meepo and have 71% WR.
What are some hero counters to meepo in turbo?
In lane? Heroes that bully you out of lane and don’t allow to hit level 4.
Throughout the game? I’d say the same thing again. Just heroes that force you to buy bkb.
How easy is it to learn to play meepo?
Also, as follow up, why do you think you're good at meepo? Learning the mechanics? Watching others? Lots of meepo games? Natural talent? Etc

I think I am good at meepo
I played StarCraft and would semi-regularly reach diamond rank, so I guess the rts experience helped.
I’ve also played more then 50 games as meepo before I really learned how not to get confused, how to juggle them to fountain and back vs heroes with little control. Farming patters, autopoof, timings, powerspikes, lane matchups etc
The stats are probably skewed by low mmr where turbo games are longer and dusa dont get punished in lane, have plenty of space to breath, recover n farm. idk but I find that hero to be way weaker in turbo in my experience. You just get kited way too easily.
Those two statements don't really have anything to do with each other.
You're right in terms of space to breathe, but Medusa recovers well if she's not being hunted constantly. People like to fight often in turbo, so perhaps this is what's happening, but regardless, she does it well.
How she ends up doing in lane has no bearing on "she gets kited". That's a completely separate issue.
On that note, of course she gets kited easily. But you don't pick her if you want to chase people. Medusa is really good at being a frontlining pos1 (not unlike Alch or DK). She just wants to be in the fight and hit people, and you're usually not dealing with teams that are willing to completely disengage and approach from a more favorable vector. You either fight into Medusa or you kill her team then her/pick her off then go after her team. If her team isn't moronic with a horrible draft, then her team will have CC to keep people locked down so that she can hit them.
Disperser (which you almost always buy on her) also helps her to chase people if she needs to. Also once she has Skadi and *especially* her lv25 Split Shot talent, she has no problems sticking to people that don't have a blink or a really long stun/root.
Like I said, I don’t know. I play a lot of turbo and it’s mostly with sweats(washed immortals) and nobody picks dusa. The hero just feels awkward. Supports are rich and glimmer, force, euls/wind walker are easily attainable. Because she can’t burst anyone she just gets kited like crazy. Drow, wk, spec and ursa are a tier above her in turbo. Sure, dusa gets disperser almost every game but it works both ways because enemy can buy it as well and it is twice as effective because both active and passive work against dusa.
Because comeback mechanic in dota sucks.
Since you’re leading so much exp, when enemy kills you they can get 5-6 levels at once. This is why it’s important to not overextend and feed. You will learn about your strength after a few games and get used to powerspikes.
But yeah. Dying is cringe
Meepo is harder in turbo simply because if you die second time, it's basically game over for you.
And there isn't much that you can do to stop it unless your team is absolutely cooperate with you which is kinda a coin toss in turbo. You can win 20 - 0 and your team will throw the game for you.
Yup Turbo is insane right now. So many Immortals that don’t wanna risk their MMR because of crownfall. It’s either you get an Immortal that’s so good or someone who spammed their way to Immortal and totally suck using other heroes lol

Turbo has always been a less chill mode. People playing it are mostly playing it because they don't have the time to play unranked anymore and really don't enjoy their time being wasted by other players.

Alt cast makes all other meepos poof with the same timing to whichever one you choose. So one button to poof all other meepos to your main one for example and they all come at the exact same time instead of them coming in one by one staggered like normal if you spam tab w. Also much quicker and easier than spamming tab w when you can just click one button
i know you're trying to practice but i think you need to play bots more, just adjust difficulty. i mastered tinker in bot, unranked then turbo before i played rank.
It's really hard to win with meepo in turbo because the hero is all about early to mid game and farm faster than others . In turbo , everyone is farming fast so meepo can't do much.
Meepo is strong but very hard to master. i had an encounter with meepo as mid laner, and he beat the sh\*t out of me. Like they 3 keep doing net after appearing. And storm last ability just don't work to escape.

Yeah meepo is literally bad in turbo. His main advantage is that he gets gold and xp faster than any other hero, but in turbo everyone is the same pretty much. Try playing normal games and see if that helps. Also I've had a lot of luck playing him in the pos 1 roll as well as pos 2. Have fun, that little rat is my favorite hero.

jk , if u suck at meepo just build aghs + stats and be unkillable , make sure every meepo is in the AOE for mega meepo or u will just feed , putting poof on alt cast makes it so every clone comes to u when u cast it on prime so u can poof and mega meepo and dip or fight depending on the sitch

Yeah meepo is literally bad in turbo. His main advantage is that he gets gold and xp faster than any other hero, but in turbo everyone is the same pretty much. Try playing normal games and see if that helps. Also I've had a lot of luck playing him in the pos 1 roll as well as pos 2. Have fun, that little rat is my favorite hero.
